We chose Courtney with Yellow House Photography to capture our engagement pictures. After this experience we knew we wanted Courtney to capture our big day! She is so easy to work ...
with and makes you feel so comfortable! The communication was amazing. We’ve received nothing but positive feedback from family and friends regarding the pictures. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend Courtney for your wedding needs!
DO NOT book with Courtney Nestor. She is a scam artist. I booked a family session with her and she completely ghosted me the day of. She didn't even update me on anything and only ...
reached back out to me because I told her that she owes me a refund or I'll take her to small claims court.
Please do your research and make sure that you book with a reputable, professional photographer. I made the mistake of booking with her but luckily she gave me a refund after having to threaten her with legal action.
Stay away!
I definitely would not recommend this photographer to anyone needing a wedding photographer. I was a guest at a wedding in August 2021 that she was hired for. There were several re...
d flags to me. The first was that she told the bride/brides mother that a signed contract was not needed. I suggested to the brides mother that she should get this to protect her investment. (See previous reviews on the Knot) I was asked to help prior to the wedding and was there for pictures prior to the ceremony as well as after. Brides mother paid for a second "photographer". The person that showed up was the photographers boyfriend. The boyfriend did not even know how to use the camera. I witnessed the main photographer trying to show him what to do. The boyfriend was told to take pictures of the groom and groomsmen. I watched as he fumbled around trying to take pictures. He obviously did not know what he was doing, what pictures he should be taking and did not know any type of proper placement. I was not surprised when the pictures came back 6 MONTHS LATER that there was a lack of pictures with the groom and groomsmen. There was not a single individual picture of the groom and 3 of his groomsmen. These groomsmen that did not get individual pictures with the groom were the brides brothers! I noticed the main photographer having to rush around and take not only pictures of the girls but also do the "second photographer" job getting some of the men. If I hired this photographer I would at least be asking for a refund for whatever extra was paid for the 2nd "photographer". Bride asked if she could also pay for extra time and the photographer said no! The bride had to ask several several times for the pictures. She was promised pictures by November 1st and did not get them till December. BEWARE
I got married in October of 2020. When I first contacted Courtney we set up a time to meet and discuss the photography job we wanted done for our wedding. She ended up rescheduling...
twice citing various excuses and I really should have bowed out then but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. That was a mistake!
I ended up insisting on a contract that outlined she would deliver 250 edited photos by the end of December 2020 and previews a few weeks after the event. Our wedding Day comes around she calls me saying she's going to be 15 min late from when we agreed she would arrive. Unprofessional but it's a little late to change my mind now! When I asked her about when I could expect the finished photos she assured me I would get the previews in two weeks and the rest of the photos by December.
December rolls around and it is radio silent. Haven't even gotten the previews yet. I reach out to Courtney to find out where my photos are and she tells me she's a little behind and it'll be just another week or so and that she'd get the previews to me in the next few days. Two weeks go by with absolutely nothing. Note that we are in definite violation of the contract she signed at this point. I reach out to her again and she gives me another pathetic excuse for why she doesn't have them finished. This trend continues until March 2021.
At no point did she ever reach out to me or my husband to explain the delays or update us. We were never offered any compensation for the extreme delays. What really upset me was that she was obviously lying to my face instead of just being honest about what was going on. You grossly overestimated how long a set of wedding photos would take you? No problem as long as you give me a realistic deadline and are honest from the start! Instead I was strung along for weeks and I was quickly getting to the point where I believed she didn't even have the photos and I would have to sue her for my money back.
In March I finally got her to agree to meet me in Waynesville where it would be super easy for her to deliver the flash drive. I drive and 1.5 hours to get there get parked and she isn't there. Call her to ask where she is and SUPRISE! another excuse about her kids getting sick. I try to offer various compromises where I could go to where she was, someone else could grab the flashdrive from her house and I'd meet them there. She wasn't willing to do any of it. All I got was fake apologies and more excuses. At that point I put my foot down and said she needed to have the photos in the drop box my midnight that night or I would have to find out how to get my money back.
Shockingly she actually came through but the photos were not up to what was outline in the contract. The editing looked rushed and unprofessional, only 185 photos were delivered, and they were 3 months late. When looking into how to get my money back I found out Paypal has a deadline for reporting transactions where no product was received. I honest believe she was waiting for that deadline to pass before dropping communication with us completely.
I guess I'm ultimately thankful to have photos of my day at all. I regret not just asking one of my photo savvy relatives to do it instead. Working with Courtney was honestly one of the most stressful experiences of my entire life and I'm so thankful I never have to deal with her unprofessionalism again.
December rolls ar
I definitely would not recommend Yellow House Photography! My husband and I were married in September 2020 and we did not receive our wedding photos until May 2021. Yes, you read t...
hat right, it took 8 months to get our wedding pictures and we also never received the flash drive she had supposedly sent out on three separate occasions.
Courtney told us it would take two weeks to receive our preview photos and 4 weeks for the rest of the pictures. After very patiently waiting almost two months we finally received our preview photos which only included 20 photographs. Courtney stated that we could expect our full album of wedding photos within the next month.
More than a month passed by and my husband and I reached out to Courtney again to inquire on where the rest of our photos were and we were given a new deadline, the end of January. Courtney also promised to send pictures piecemeal as she continued to work on them. As February rolled around, nearly 5 months after our wedding, we reached out to Courtney again because we never received a single picture and we were past our January deadline. Courtney never responded. It wasn’t until a few days later when we reached out again that she finally said the photos would be done within a week. They weren’t. This trend of her repeatedly lying to us, ignoring our messages, and giving us false deadlines continued until May, eight months after our wedding date. When we finally received the pictures, you could tell that they were rushed and not the quality one would expect from a “professional photographer.”
Throughout the whole process Courtney never provided any updates without us inquiring first, she never apologized for any delays, and frankly, she was rude. Additionally, Courtney blocked me from all social media and she even blocked my phone number. Luckily, my husband was able to reach out to her in May because she did not have his number yet. I whole-heartedly believe that she would have never given us our photos and scammed us of our money if we didn’t continue to repeatedly reach out to her.
Courtney is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with and I believe that she will con you out of your money given the chance. No one should have to wait eight months to receive photos of one of the most important days of their lives, especially when they were promised those photos within 4 weeks. I do not want anyone else to have to go through the same traumatic experience we went through and I urge you to take your business elsewhere.
