About this vendor
There are a gazillion "officiants" out there that have been "ordained" online. In Michigan there is no requirement to perform a marriage. If all you seek is for someone to say something and sign the license, I recommend grabbing a friend or relative, have them get ordained online, and save yourself some money. Alternatively, if you something more, I am the minister you seek.

Reverend Fred is a hilarious, caring, and wonderful man who I would recommend to anybody getting married. He was an absolute delight, and our entire family loved spending time with...
him during our rehearsal dinner and throughout our wedding night. We have a lot of great things to say about Reverend Fred, but one of the most spectacular things is the ceremony book that he loans to couples planning their wedding.
Inside the ceremony book is over 30 different wedding ceremonies covering several variations of typical traditional, non-traditional, nondenominational, and even Celtic wedding ceremony examples along with more I can't even think of. There are also dozens of various unity ceremony examples to choose from, and everyone loved our wine ceremony. All of which Reverend Fred made sure was ready. We called our venue and left a message the day before to ensure they had everything set up and ready in time for the ceremony. However, Reverend Fred noticed they did not have anything set up 20 minutes prior and took it upon himself to make sure they had it ready. He truly takes pride in officiating weddings for loving couples, and it is evident in his actions.
Also, I would like to mention as a person who is not religious that Reverend Fred is not a man who will pass judgment at no point did he try to push us to do or say anything we were uncomfortable with. For example, my mother-in-law requested a dinner blessing; however, I was on the fence when she initially brought it up. My family wasn't as religious as hers, and I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. Of course, I was hesitant to bring my concern up to the Reverand, but he took it in stride. He sidelined the idea and at no point, put pressure on us to go one way or another, and he assured us whatever decision we made was final. He offered to share a video example of the dinner blessings he has done in the past, and we decided to go with it. We are pleased we did it made a lot of people in the family happy and Reverend Fred is a fantastic writer and speaker who captured us as a couple.
We have absolutely no regrets with our choosing Reverend Fred to officiate our wedding, he did a fantastic job, and everyone in the family enjoyed his company, ceremony, and dinner blessing. Thank you so much for helping us craft a truly unique and extraordinary ceremony to show how much the merging our two lives meant. If you are looking for an officiant and are reading our review search no further and pick up the phone and contact, We Are Gathered Celebrants.
Sincerely,
Pat and Caity O'Grady

It's true that I ended up in the hospital literally overnight. My wife, Sheila, contacted every couple who had a wedding pending. In each instance the agreement was "No refunds". T...
hat said, she sent personal checks as full refund except when the couple had completed several reviews of their custom written ceremony and had accepted it as final. At that point they were in receipt of a complete ceremony that anybody could officiate. All but two or three understood. Those went on a campaign to defame me. I am well recovered and eager to resume. The previous 150 married couples can't all be wrong. If you agree, please write or call. Thank you...and God Bless!
We contracted Reverend Frederick Jolicoeur to perform our wedding ceremony eight months prior to our wedding date and paid him the required deposit to reserve the date. Less than ...
two months before the wedding, we were notified by his representative that he would not be able to perform our ceremony due to unfortunate circumstances. Although the terms of the contract clearly call for a full refund of our deposit, his representative refused to provide us a refund. We contacted PayPal to dispute the transaction but they only allow disputes within 180 days of the transaction. His representative notified us of his unavailiablity to perform the service on the 181st day after the payment. We have since disputed the matter with our credit card company. We emphasize with the Jolicoeur family, but denying a refund for work that was paid for but not performed is shockingly rude and unprofessional behavior, especially considering the substantial investment we made to procure his services. We therefore cannot recommend using his services to anyone.
An unfortunate circumstance left him unable to perform our ceremony. After speaking with his wife we were finally refunded our deposit
I cannot say enough good things about Reverend Fred! From the first time we met him at my older sister's wedding three years ago, we knew he would be a perfect fit to officiate our...
wedding. He is so sweet and caring. He makes sure everything is perfect and that the ceremony is exactly what you want. We were able to personalize our ceremony to fit our personalities. Reverend Fred is very knowledgable about everything wedding and was wonderful in giving advice to what would work for us in our ceremony. He listens to everything that you want and makes it happen! Reverend Fred made our day one to remember forever because of his thoughtfulness, extremely kind and caring personality, and wonderful smile! :) We would highly recommend him to anyone that has any kind of special event that they are planning. He will truly make it a wonderful and memorable event! :) We love Reverend Fred!!!! :)
Reverend Fred was perfect for us! He is wonderful to work with in every way. He worked around our busy work schedules for our initial meetings and not only spent time getting to ...
know us, but gave us a look into his life and passion for what he does, which really made us feel a lot more connected to him. His ceremony is completely customizable, which was perfect for us as we wanted to include some of the more traditional aspects of a Catholic wedding into ours. He delivered the ceremony and dinner blessing just beautifully. We received many many compliments on how wonderful he was and how much everyone enjoyed the ceremony. He really made our day truly special and memorable.
While we ended up paying slightly more than we budgeted for to get Reverend Fred, we couldn't have been more happy with how things went- it was absolutely worth the slight extra co...
st! Reverend Fred is just the type of person who goes above and beyond the usual- he made designing our custom ceremony so easy and kept working with us through many different drafts until we had it exactly how we wanted it! I was also a little unprepared for the rehearsal and he stepped up and helped run things and it went surprisingly smooth. You can just replace all the experience this man has, he's an expert-that's for sure! I highly recommend spending a little more to book him, he was amazing and me and my husband could not have been happier with how things ended up!
Perfect ceremony. Perfect dinner blessing. We were able to create our entire ceremony with Reverend Fred. He did an amazing job! We are so happy with our ceremony and how beautiful...
it turned out!
Please take a look at his responses when he doesn’t receive his typical 5-star review. He buckles under criticism and redirects blame elsewhere when his weaknesses are identified. ...
At the second meeting, his demeanor was sour and annoyed. He confused our ceremony details with others, rescheduled/cancelled meetings, “fired” himself and took the deposit and ran. He's wonderful and flexible until he receives correction, direction, guidance, edits etc. from his paying clients. He “fired” himself (we never implied nor ask to cancel our agreement) and upon him canceling on us, we requested our $250 deposit be returned and he has refused and said, "go ahead and send your lawyers after me". Be aware.
Reverend Fred was wonderful to work with. He was very supportive and knowledgable. He created a ceremony that was entirely tailored to us. It truly was a pleasure to work with Fred...
. We will never forget what he brought to our special day. Absolutely, wonderful! (Oh, and we look at our wine box on a daily basis.) :).
Rev. Fred officiated our wedding on 1/16/2016 and was a pleasure to work with. He wants to make sure that the ceremony is just what you want it to be and gives you plenty of oppor...
tunity to give as much input as you like. His book of wedding ceremonies is a great resource and gives lots of good ideas. He also did a great job once it came time for the ceremony.
Reverend Fred, we couldn't have chosen a better officiate for our wedding. Your attention to detail, and understanding the importance of all our special parts to our wedding didn't...
go un-noticed. All your recommendations were so helpful. Thank you for believing in our outside, Michigan, November wedding..Who can forget standing out in 30mph gust, and still rocking our ceremony. Thank you again!!

The amount of flexibility Reverend Fred gave us to make our ceremony OURS was something that made our experience more than I ever thought it could be. If anyone ever asks if I know...
someone, I always tell them Reverend Fred will make it exactly what they are looking for no matter their background and passions.
Rev. Fred performed our wedding ceremony this past weekend, and we couldn't be HAPPIER with everything he did for us! From start to finish, he was knowledgeable, professional, prom...
pt, accessible when we needed him, patient, and most importantly - a very kind man, with tons of experience. Our ceremony was personalized just for us, and we loved that he was able to convey the thoughts and feelings we have for each other, when we were a bit lost for words. I could go on and on about how wonderful he was, but I'll just say if you are looking for the perfect officiant for your wedding (or other ceremony), look no further than the one, the only, Reverend Fred. A million thanks for making our special day, even more memorable. Robyn & Ryan Stanton

an everything, already pre-typed. He keeps this all in a binder that he sends you home with. In the binder are the pre-typed ceremonies and you pick your favorites.
Reverend Fred felt like family from the moment my wife and I met him. He is very thorough and detail-oriented. His giant book of weddings will literally walk you through every face...
t of the ceremony. He was always quick to respond to our questions and had an innate ability to know exactly what we wanted without us needing to spend too much time explaining things, which is really helpful considering how busy you get in the weeks leading up to the big day. He has decades of experience and it really shows with how professional and simply, good, he was at it. We were blessed to have him perform our ceremony as well as the blessing prior to the meal. We received compliments from those in attendance for both of those aspects of our wedding. Outside of marrying the girl of my dreams, choosing Reverend Fred was the best decision I've made in my life. He took the most stressful part of the wedding and made it a breeze. Everyone thought the ceremony was "us" and that's exactly what Reverend Fred will do for you. We'll be repeat customers for the rest of our lives (baptisms etc.). We'll also refer him to anyone that asks. Thank you Reverend Fred!

e been happier with our day.
We selected Reverend Fred based on all the positive feedback and just as important was his personal responses to every single review. He knows how important your wedding day and works personally with you to make sure that your ceremony is exaclty what you want it to be...perfect.
You can hear in his voice how honored he was to be a part of our day and the compliments that we received from all of our friends and family confirmed that his sentiment was able to be heard by all.
To all Detroit area couples looking for an officiant that will make sure that your day is just as special as you both deserve then let us recommend Reverend Fred.
Thank you for everything!!!
Reverend Fred was amazing! Part of his process involves providing you with a gigantic binder of different ceremonies to either choose, mix'n'match, or simply get inspiration from. ...
We ended up doing a mix and match of a few, with a bit of ourselves mixed in, so that what we had was perfect for us. He was very thorough and accepting of any questions.
One thing that stuck out, which was evident through his binder of previous ceremonies, is that he wanted the ceremony to be what we wanted it to be. Whether you are devoutly religious, not at all, or anywhere in between, Reverend Fred was there to help you have the ceremony you want and make it special.
You can definitely tell that he was never going through the motions and genuinely cared about us and providing a beautiful ceremony. He responded quickly to emails and phone calls. He also was able to handle a last minute change without blinking an eye.
My husband and I were extremely pleased with Reverend Fred. He is very easy to work with and open/adaptable to any of your ideas and more than prepared to offer suggestions if your...
ceremony plans are up in the air like ours were. You will not be disappointed with Rev. Fred!
My new husband and I were married one week ago today by Reverend Fred. I am happy to say that the ceremony was the absolute best part of my entire day! (As it should be, that's why...
you're there any way :-)) I would also like to add that out of all the vendors and businesses I dealt with throughout wedding planning, Reverend Fred was a breath of fresh air! So wonderful and inspiring from the very first email!
Due to some other issues we had to find an officiant online at the last minute, which made me very anxious. As soon as Reverend Fred contacted us, all anxiety was washed away. We had barely two months left until the wedding, but Rev Fred made everything so easy. If you are like me and have no idea how a wedding really works, I recommend contacting him from the beginning of your wedding planning. He came to our first meeting prepared with a warm smile and an enormous folder full of wonderful and useful information (which he allowed us to take home and study) to help make your wedding planning a little more organized. He had plenty of sample weddings and ideas to help you decide what you would want. He is in no way pushy or judgmental based on what you want your ceremony to be like; and he is extremely caring and patient. He is very quick on getting back to you about any comments or concerns. It is clear as day that he truly enjoys what he does and he truly wants it to be the most perfect ceremony for the couple. We had so many compliments about what a beautiful ceremony Reverend Fred had written and how everyone could see us in the words spoken. So it was not only beautiful, but personal. He also gave our dinner blessing which we received even MORE compliments about. Some people said it was the most beautiful blessing they had ever heard. Rev Fred was kind enough to stay for dinner and many relatives and friends commented on what a truly wonderful man he is. Not only did he go above and beyond in providing his services, he is a kind, beautiful soul (which is so rare these days) and I was so grateful to have had him be a part of such a special day in our lives. I was in no way nervous or scared, even in the seconds before walking down the aisle because I knew Rev Fred would make it perfect and he did not disappoint one bit. My only regret is that I did not find him sooner! We would absolutely recommend him to anyone and everyone! He is so very inspiring!
And we most certainly would love to have him baptize our future children, God willing. Because he does baptisms too FYI! ;-)
I'm probably not the best bride. That is to say that I'm a procrastinator, and it's bad. But using We Are Gathered was an amazing experience. Reverend Fred kept me on top of things...
and emailed me when he needed more information from me. He allowed me and my husband to create our own ceremony and make it uniquely ours. It was everything I could have asked for and I'm so happy and blessed that he was a part of our special day.

day, Reverend Fred was an absolute delight.
His many years of experience combined with his wonderful demeanor made the whole process a real pleasure.
A true professional in every sense of the term, Reverend Fred made our wedding ceremony a day to remember. There are many options out there but if you are looking for the best, there’s only one that I would recommend, Reverend Fred!
Excellent performance at the ceremony. Well spoken and articulate. Worked with us to customize our ceremony over several iterations.

was responsive, professional and performed a beautiful baptism for our sons. He was helpful and flexible as we planned the ceremony providing just the right amount of guidance. We would definitely recommend.
Rev. Fred allowed us to customize our ceremony, which was the most important part of the day for us. We wanted a religious ceremony but with me as a Presbyterian and my groom as a...
divorced Catholic, that was going to be tricky, especially in a church setting. Rev. Fred customized a service for us blending both religions and adding a Scottish touch, which was perfect for us. I can't imagine doing a canned, standard ceremony for something so important. Also, a few weeks becore the wedding, my dad was hospitalized. It was very serious and he was unable to attend the wedding. Rev. Fred offered some very comforting words to me when i reached out for prayers and i know that it helped my dad pull through. The dinner blessing and acknowledgement of my dad not being there was a comfort to us all. He was perfect for us!
Although it was an investment to have Reverend Fred customize our ceremony, it was so worthwhile. He was kind, patient and very flexible. I enjoyed the sooth of his voice as he per...

My fiance and I worked with Reverend Fred for over a year. Together, we created a touching and meaningful ceremony. Reverend Fred was very thorough and left no detail overlooked....

onalize our ceremony to make it the unique one that we wanted it to be! We were married in an indoor garden atrium and wanted to do a tree-planting ceremony for our unity ceremony and he was on board with it right away and really made it very special and meaningful and we received many compliments on this unique and interesting aspect of our ceremony. He was also great during the rehearsal, arrived promptly and after we rehearsed twice, he asked if we wanted to go through it again and made sure we were confident with the practice before leaving. He also delivered our blessing before our meal and my family enjoyed his company at our dinner/reception. I give my highest recommendations for him and will likely be seeing him again in the future to hopefully perform a few baptisms for us!
Reverend Fred conducted our wedding for us. Everything from start to finish was top notch. We met several times and knew exactly how the ceremony was going to go. He also came to t...

ur significant other want. Our friends and families all loved him. His fee is a bit higher than some other officiants out there but we feel it is justified for the clear amount of work he put into our ceremony.
Reverend Fred was the absolute best officiant. He was awesome and helped thing flow flawlessly. I was so happy with him. I had so many compliment on the ceremony because of him! At...
the end of the ceremony my Husband and I walked out to the star wars theme song and he added May the force be with you which we though was awesome! I would recommend him in the future to anyone getting married!

ceremony. He was fantastic during the rehearsal with our families and friends. We would highly recommend him to everyone!
Rev. Fred was extremely flexible and created exactly the type of service we were looking for. I'd highly recommend him!
Reverend Fred was terrific, throughout our entire wedding-planning experience. I found him through the knot, and I could not be happier that we had him perform our service! He met ...
with us in person twice to go over everything we wanted encompassed in our ceremony, and was more than willing to give us tips throughout the planning process. At our rehearsal, he made everyone feel so much more comfortable about what was going to happen at the actual ceremony, and coordinated the day with us to make us feel competent and comfortable. On the day of... WOW. Everyone I have spoken to said it was the most beautiful and touching ceremony they have ever seen. The words he said cut to my soul, and he made me feel more steady as I said my vows to my husband. He also gave a blessing before dinner, which was lovely, and made my parents feel very blessed. All-in-all, he was the perfect touch to the happiest, most beautiful wedding I could have hoped for. Thank you Fred!
Rev. Fred made the the ceremony so easy! My husband and I felt so comfortable from the first time we met him. He walked us through each step at the rehearsal and made us worry free...
. He always stayed in contact with us over our 1.5 year engagement and reminded us of things we needed for the wedding. My friends and family had nothing but great things to say about him after the ceremony. He is such a sweet and loving man and I would recommend him GREATLY!
We were honored to be married by him and I will never forget him. Thank you so much Reverand Fred
Wonderful experience, highly recommended!!
Reverend Fred is awesome to work with. He has a giant binder full of sample ceremonies, readings, and prayers that you can go through and just select a premade one you want, or yo...
u can fully customize your entire ceremony from start to finish. Your ceremony can be as much or as little work as you want, and the Reverend is a goldmine of information on wedding ceremony customs. I gave Rev Fred a giant list of all the pieces I liked and he crafted it into the perfect ceremony that just came out beautifully and was 100% ours. He was a pleasure to work with, friendly, and very easygoing. I’d never go with anyone else!
For our wedding day we did not have a particular officiant that we knew so we found Reverend Fred online. I was a little hesitant in taking this route because I was worried if we w...
ould be within our spending budget and didn't know what to expect. Needless to say, hiring Rev Fred was THE BEST decision we could have made!!! From the very beginning he made the entire process so easy for us and was always fast to respond to emails. We had a ton of say in the direction we wanted our ceremony to go but he was there to guide us and give us wonderful advice! We also wrote our own vows and had Rev Fred read them for us and give us the OK!
Our ceremony was beautiful. Everyone came up to us to tell us it had been one of the nicest ceremonies they had ever been to. It flowed so nicely and said EXACTLY what we wanted it to say about us. I could not have asked for more perfect words to unite us in marriage. Rev Fred also blessed our meal and we had the pleasure of having him and his lovely wife Sheila join us for dinner!
When it comes down to it, the ceremony is such a huge part of your wedding and you want it to be perfect because you will have it on video forever! I give my HIGHEST recommendation and compliments to Reverend Fred and suggest him to anyone looking for an officiant for their wedding. He was so kind, professional, and easy to work with...which made things so much less stressful on us! I knew I had nothing to worry about and that he would take care of all! It was a pleasure working with him.
Thank you Reverend Fred!!

anor. Rev Fred, had many suggestions and sample ceremonies for us to go through. He allowed us to perform our wedding how we wanted to have it done (second marriages for us both). Rev. Fred had suggested our wedding location to take placed at the Little Chapel in South Lyon, Michigan. It was a emotional time for us both and the setting was just perfect. Even after the ceremony, Rev. Jolicoeur reviewed that our marriage certificate was accurate and completed.
Thank You again for your services. Wedding photos forthcoming!
We can't say enough good things about Rev. Fred and his wife. Our ceremony was amazing and everyone commented on how great he was. From start to finish everything was A+. Thank you...

e was in constant contact with us throughout our entire engagement. The day of our wedding our ceremony went so smooth and perfectly thanks to him! We are still receiving compliments on how nice and thought out our ceremony was and how much everyone enjoyed Reverend Fred’s words. He also gave a beautiful dinner blessing at our reception. We absolutely love him and would recommend him to all future brides and grooms!
We were incredibly pleased with how the Reverend did. He was a kind and calming presence to us throughout the engagement. My husband and I live several states away from where we go...
t married and the Reverend set up time on Skype to talk to us, mailed us his book of ceremony suggestions and drafted the ceremony over e-mail with us. We had the text of the ceremony figured out six months in advance and got to relax and reread it over and over. He made suggestions that made the ceremony much better, but when we told him that a part was important to us, he made sure it was in the readings (even if it might not have seemed like it would fit). On the day of the rehearsal, we were running around, running late and trying to get everything together, but he stayed calm, ran the walk through and got everything taken care of. I have to believe most people would've lost patience with us, but he didn't. He even seemed surprised when I apologized for how disorganized things were. On the day of the ceremony, everything went perfectly. The ceremony was beautiful and moving. Because of our disorganization the day before, we hadn't gotten some of the paperwork done - the Reverend actually stepped away from dinner at the reception to get everything signed for us and give us a copy of the ceremony. I would recommend Reverend Fred to anyone getting married -- he did an amazing job and he was a joy to work with! Thank you, Reverend!
Reverend Fred was amazing for our ceremony, he put together a ceremony that catered to exactly what we wanted and was very flexible in our requests and suggestions. He had a HUGE ...
binder that we took home to review and picked certain things out of it for our ceremony. He did rough drafts and 2 versions of the final draft for us to choose and had many creative ideas. He was so warm and kind and was perfect for what we wanted. It turned out exactly as I had envisioned it.
Very easy to work with, extremely nice and professional, would recommend to anyone!

remony. We honestly could not have asked for a better officiant in Reverend Fred. Reverend Fred kept us organized and confident throughout the entire planning process from pre-ceremony meetings, selection and personalization of our ceremony, reiterations, and rehearsal. I'm 100% sure that no one could have delivered our ceremony in a more genuine way; Reverend Fred has the most soothing voice that really helped calm my nerves as the rain sprinkled down on us during our outdoor ceremony. We received so many compliments on our ceremony from our guests and are both so beyond satisfied with our selection of Reverend Fred.
Looking for an officiant for our wedding was not an easy task. We met with several different people before we came across Reverend Fred. From the very first meeting with Reverend F...
red I knew this was the man who was going to marry us. He made us feel very comfortable from the very start and only after an hour or so I felt like we had known each other for years. Reverend Fred is very warm, kind, and professional. He worked with us to create a completely unique ceremony that expressed who my fiance and I are as a couple. I would recommend Reverend Fred 100%.
