Bobby and I "hit it off," so to speak, from day one. From our first conversation on the phone, I could tell he had a lot of experiences that he drew from just by the questions he a...
sked and how well he listened. He was also very patient with me, I tend to ask a lot of questions - I like to be thorough! - and he was able to fairly and honestly answer all of them.
We also had the benefit of him coming to our home a few months before the wedding so he could sit down face-to-face with me and my mom, and also get a glimpse of the house where we would initially be shooting.
Since my husband and I do not live in Michigan and opted not to have an engagement photo session, I was a little nervous (as all brides are) on the day-of since we aren't used to having HUNDREDS of photos taken - but Bobby was so flexible and let me see a number of photos to get me comfortable with the process and let myself go. He made me feel relaxed with his own easy and calm, almost therapeutic nature. Paul was with the groom and groomsmen and they all thought he was awesome and fun - because he is.
We gave them free reign on what they shot, honestly because I forgot to make a shot-list which would be recommended for any bride/photographer relationship, but that fell through the cracks on my end. Luckily we got more than enough shots from them. I especially love the actual ceremony photos since that went by so quickly in my mind - they got so many beautiful moments on film.
The reception photos are a blast to look through, I've looked at them about 10 times already and I just received them all 2 days ago. On top of that - countless people have complimented me on how great our photographers were, totally unsolicited. They were part of the party in a totally professional way.
On a side note: If you want a photo booth, please ask him about it, it was beyond my expectations (Bobby, you should sell this more!). I won't go into too much detail, but it's totally worth it. Awesome quality, we provided our own props.
Bobby, Paul and their team stayed almost to the bitter end, and were so patient with my progressively intoxicated guests!
They truly captured the essence of our wedding, which was fun, festive, and easy going. I can't imagine having had anyone else there for our important and special day. I think they embodied the important qualities of event photographers: patience, flexibility, and good humor.
We received over 1300 files and had a full day of unlimited hours (as well as rehearsal dinner since we didn't have the engagement session).
From the moment we met Bobby (recommended through a friend), we fell in love with his honest, easy-going, professional, kindhearted personality. We had three main focuses for our w...
edding: great food, an amazing photographer to capture the day, and to have fun. Thankfully, we were blessed to enjoy all three. As part of our wedding package, we also received an engagement session. Fabulous! Bobby navigated Detroit’s history to take fun shots that really spoke to our personalities (unique architecture, sports, and just a city-feel). We loved them, and it made us even more excited to see our wedding photos.
As most wedding days are stressful, ours was no different. However, Bobby and his Team (Paul and Deanna) helped to make our day run as smooth as possible. They were on-time, prepared, flexible, patient, light-hearted, serious and professional – all at the same time. It made the day seem less crazy as they worked to capture the moments we were enjoying…and those we missed (the candids). We received over 1,000 photos of our wedding day, and words cannot describe how happy we are with the end result. We look at our photos frequently and still pick out details we didn’t notice the previous times we looked at them. We, our family and friends LOVE our wedding photos.
Bobby is amazing and wonderful. Through a lens, he and his team made our day perfect by capturing and reminding us how much fun we had that day. We were truly blessed to find such an amazing photographer, both in talent and in personality. We honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better. Thank you Bobby, and United Photo Works!
We were lucky enough to have Bobby Alcott photograph our wedding day on June 28, 2014 at the Detroit Golf Club. I cannot say enough great things about him! He had a team of peopl...
e with him, although I could barely tell they were there - they were so discrete! All of the photographers involved were organized and efficient and extremely kind. They also displayed the photos on a slideshow at the reception, which the guests absolutely loved. After the wedding, Bobby has sent us thousands of photos, and I can't tell which I love more. I highly recommend Bobby Alcott to anyone getting married!!
Beyond our expectations!
You never realize the importance of a reliable, creative photographer until after the wedding. Bobby and his team are professional, creative, innovative, ...
kind, caring and truly want to enhance memories.
We are so grateful to have had Bobby and his team by our side!
Our photos are outstanding and beyond our expectations. As we go through our photos, we have seen the artful eye. Bobby had a team of four photographers shooting and then they put together the photos in a sequence that allowed us to see situations we could not have possibly seen. Like the maid of honor's speech and her look towards her sister, and the bride looking at her in response. Or the father of the bride speech and the reaction of the bride and the groom. Many other photos that I never expected, but now can not imagine not having. They brought the past back into the present and preserved for the future. What a blessing to our blessed day!
From the moment my husband and I met Bobby we knew that he was the best choice for us. I remember leaving the first meeting with him thinking he is to good to be true. He was car...
ing and trusting. There really aren't very many more people in this world like him. The day of, him and his team were amazing. They just blended right in capturing the moments that bring tears to my eyes to this day. I will always recommend him, he was one of the best choices we made for our wedding day.
Bobby and his team were amazing.Very attentive, awesome to work with. Would highly recommend him for every wedding. Could not have had a better experience.
I am beyond happy that I chose Bobby to be my wedding photographer. He was genuine, caring, and listened to all my needs and concerns. Bobby and his staff were beyond professiona...
l and blended right in. he was able to capture the most beautiful photos that i will cherish forever. Bobby was able to capture every photo I requested, plus some I would have never considered. My big day would not have been the same with any other photographer.
Thank you again Bobby!
From our very first interaction with Bobby, we knew he was different from other photographers. Instead of jumping straight to pricing and packages, he asked about how we met, when ...
we first fell in love and how we got engaged. He wanted to know about our families, friends and careers. This commitment to putting the client first is what allows him to truly capture the emotions and tell the story of your special day. His combination of head, heart and artistic talent cannot be matched. Hiring Bobby was the best decision we made for our wedding!
We got married in Kochi, Japan in the Fall of 2006. Bobby flew in from the US to shoot our wedding, which took place in the gorgeous mountain region in southern Japan.

irst say that Bobby was extremely easy to work with. As a married man himself, he seemed to truly understand the dynamics of the wedding situation, with complex family relationships and multitude of guests intermingling and creating a small but intense community (we had about 100 people). Who would want to add a difficult photographer to the already stressful event? In this regard, Bobby fitted right in with both of our families and he was friendly and respectful to everyone.
Secondly, his technical abilities were sound. In this day and age of so-called Digital Photographers flooding the market, swinging their semi-professional digital SLRs with very little knowledge and experience of how to use them, Bobby has a solid training in the art of photography and years of professional experience. I would say that he is "old school" in the sense that he understands his equipment, lighting, composition, lines, color, and movement. In addition, he is very good at capturing the feeling of that special moment. You don't want just a technical expert, but someone who understands the emotional and social aspect as well. In my experience, he did not force us to take a pose, but waited patiently for the right moment with great awareness and captured those Kodak moments naturally and organically, as any quality professional would do.
Take a close look at his images, and you will see that they are neither accidental nor overly controlled. The images have good flow and this I believe is coming from his strong ability as a photographer.
I am a professional artist myself, I have great respect for Bobby Alcott, and I strongly recommend him as your wedding photographer. We have no complaints against him and would choose him again in a heartbeat if we are to do it again :)
My husband and I were married June 9th, 2012 in East Lansing Michigan. Planning our special day took a lot of time and energy and we wanted to make sure that everything was perfect...
! Something that we took very seriously was trying to find the perfect wedding photographer to capture our fabulous day! We heard through the grapevine that Bobby Alcott Photography out of Southeast Michigan was great so we decided to give him a call. He was VERY easy to talk to and we quickly set up a face to face meeting. Bobby was very outgoing and we could quickly tell that he cared a lot about his profession. After seeing more of his work and having him answer our questions we quickly booked him. I was in contact with Bobby leading up to our wedding and I never had a worry.
He arrived promptly with both of his assistants and spent the entire day with us! Bobby spent the day with me, his first assistant with my husband, and the second assistant took pictures of the little details throughout the day.
My husband and I both agree that not only is Bobby incredibly professional, organized, and kind, he is also extremely talented at what he does and makes sure to capture your entire day so that you will have memories to last a lifetime. Your wedding is only one day of your life and we made sure Bobby was our photographer, because we knew that when we look back at our wedding pictures, we remember all of the wonderful memories we shared that day. These are memories that Bobby captured with his camera and we will have them forever! I am so very thankful for Bobby Alcott!
We had the pleasure of having Bobby Alcott as our wedding photographer for our beach wedding in the Outer Banks, Corolla, NC. Bobby worked above and beyond to capture the day— all ...
the details, all the special moments. I love and cherish the photos from this day. Don't miss out on one of the best event photographers, who is also happens to be extremely personable and professional.
Where do I begin? Every couple planning a wedding, experiences a stressful period choosing the "RIGHT" vendors. We decided early in the planning that choosing our wedding photogr...
apher would be the MOST important decision we would have. After all…besides the memories…that is the only thing you are left with when all is said and done. We needed to find the “RIGHT” photographer. Who to trust, who will fulfill our wishes and expectations, who will come armed full of ideas and suggestions…all of this and to have them fit our budget. We didn’t think it was possible to have ALL the above. We had recommendations from friends…we searched online…yet no one stood out or made us think, “THAT”S THE ONE!” That is…until we met Bobby. When we first contacted him, we decided to meet in person. All I can say is when we left that night after our meeting, we knew we had found our “match”. From my NUMEROUS frantic phone calls…to all of the emails I sent to him…he answered every one of them in a refreshing and reassuring fashion. He always made time for us. Then came the BIG DAY!! We were lucky enough to have two photographers…Bobby and his assistant. They spent the entire day with us…morning until night. Every time I look at my pictures now, I feel as though I’m reliving that day. The pictures tell a story. There were pictures that were taken that Bobby had suggested that I would never have thought to have taken. From the ones of us getting ready in the morning…to the ones at the church…to the ones in the limo…and finally the ones from the reception…BEAUTIFUL! I think we clearly made the right decision when choosing Bobby as our photographer. His ability to “capture the moment” is amazing! His professionalism was beyond what we could have asked for…yet at the same time we almost felt as if we were working with a “friend”. I feel as though I could go on and on…however I don’t really need to. Look at his work and you will see for yourself! :)
To say Bobby and his crew were amazing, wouldn't be doing him any justice. From the start of our engagement photos to the end of our wedding night we never had to worry if he would...
get "the shot". The morning of our wedding when emotions were running high all I could do was run through my checklist to make sure everything was in order but the second Bobby walked in the door I realized it was "My Day" and suddenly felt a sense of relief. I remember turning to one of my bridesmaids and saying I feel like we are celebrities and these are "our" paparazzi for the entire day. My husband and his groomsmen who were given their own photographer for the day also felt the same way. From the start of the ceremony at the church, to the moment that I fed Bobby the last piece of wedding cake, to the time we actually had to tell him to go home to his family because he wasn't going to leave until the last guest left was incredible. When the day came that we got to see our photos we were blown away. Not only have our guests told us it's one of the best weddings they have been to but they tell us how amazing all of our pictures are! Who knew from that very first meeting that not only would we have a photographer for our wedding but a long term friend! There is no doubt in our mind that for any event in the future Bobby will be there to capture it.
Best Wishes,
Dave and Lindsay
My huband and I were so impressed with Bobby from our first meeting to receiving our edited photos. He was laid back, it felt like he wasn't there the day of our wedding, but the ...
pictures that he captured were spectacular. We also received our photos back in a timely manor. Our engagement pictures were postponded due to rainy weather conditions but we appreciated Bobby's flexibility and how he took the time to give us a final product that we loved. It was the only vendor I wasn't worried about at all in my wedding, he was prompt, on-time, he crew was also helpful, professional and he was flexible to capture our day the way that we wished it to be. I couldn't be happier and would recommend him to anyone I know getting married. An amazing benefit is he was there the entire day and we received rights to all the pictures he took.
I will start by saying Bobby is a true professional photographer. We had scheduled another photographer for our wedding, however they canceled 2 weeks before. We were referred to...
Bobby and could only hope he was available as we heard his schedule fills up quickly. We were truly grateful that Bobby was able to fit not only our wedding and reception but everything leading up to those events. Bobby and his Team gave us amazing pictures we will cherish forever. We highly recommend using Bobby Alcott Photography!
I hired Bobby Alcott for my 2011 wedding. I was very impressed by what I saw and heard from him at our first meeting. My husband and I decided to cancel our original photographer...
and hire Bobby. It was honestly the biggest mistake I made. I was disappointed from start to finish. He lacked professionalism the whole way through. It was very difficult to get a hold of him to schedule anything or get an answer from him if I had questions. We had no timeline from him for our wedding day.
(Because of this one of the groomsmen was left out of all of the pictures because Bobby's assistant told him the wrong time to meet us for pictures. I also spent time and energy gathering family members to take photos...from my experience this is the photographers job!) It took forever for us to receive our finished wedding album which was mediocre at best. We didn't even get the chance to choose what type of album we wanted because he never took the time to schdule a meeting with us. I do believe that he is a talented photographer when he wants to be. I just think for whatever reason he was not interested in giving us his best. And I'm really not sure why considering we spent $3000 for his services which is on the high end for a wedding photographer. We are not difficult people to deal with either, We were more than pleased with every other vendor we dealt with for our wedding. I would highly recommend every other vendor we hired. Just extremely unhappy with our choice of photographer. Which is a shame because it is one of the most important vendors you will hire. Although he took a lot of photos that day, most of them are photos that seem irrelevant to me or are just not professional looking. Out of the 1200 photos he took on my wedding day, there are 12 of me by myself...the bride!!! I could go on and on but there is no need. I have never in my life written a review before but I felt that this was necessary because I didn't want someone else to go through the frustration and disappointment that I did.
Bobby shot my wedding in 2008. Even now, a simple glance at the photos evokes the emotions of the day and brings a smile to my face.
Bobby was very professional and focused on ...
getting photos that reflected our personalities and what our day was about. Our photos turned our better than we expected and it has been impossible to pick a favorite.
We highly recommend Bobby and his team to all our friends and families. If you want photos that are more than just a snapshot, Bobby is your photographer.
