my husband and I were set to get married at trigger in early september 2026 but the night before the wedding, my family and I discovered a maggot infestation. There were dead and l...
ive maggots all over the venue - in the basement, in the bathrooms, in the kitchen, under carpets, and all over the floors. There were hundreds of them. We reached out to Scott Tallarida, the owner of the space, who initially asked if we were sure they were maggots (spoiler: they were). Scott claimed his wife, Julie Tallarida was cleaning the venue that night (unclear because there were still live ones crawling around the space that night after she had left). Then, Scott proceeded to rudely ask why I did not call his wife about the situation given he was too busy at a concert to act appropriately. Scott was my only contact for the venue at that point so I was communicating with the person I thought could do something about the bad situation. Scott was very rude, unprofessional, and inconsiderate in how he handled the situation. His response was to deflect and talk about his own messed up wedding that happened out of an alley as if that would make us feel better. Scott did not take the necessary steps to fumigate the day we found out about the infestation or the next day. It’s unfortunate our special day is tainted with this memory and in the end, it took Scott more than 3 weeks to process a refund and the only reason he did anything was because we demanded an answer. TLDR: we were left without a venue for our wedding the night before our big day.
We would highly recommend using this event space! We had our wedding reception there in July! The space is so beautiful and easy to use (audio, lights, set up, dishes, etc). The ve...
nue is so flexible so you can use any vendor you want and set up the rooms how you'd like! Easy parking too! It's also easy to set up meetings view the space and talk through logistics! Had great vendor recommendations! We loved having our wedding there!
Trigger was afantastic choice for our wedding venue. We loved the more eclectic vibes of the venue. We very easily fit 140 guests with plenty of room for a dance floor. We enjoyed ...
the little quirks of the place like the thrifted dishes. We were able to choose our own vendor for catering as well- Portillos all the way! Scott, the owner, hooked us up with a list of staffing people, and we were able to rent the furniture, linens, and barware from him. The space turned out to be absolutely lovely.
AMAZING! Trigger is a true treasure of Chicago venues. Scott was professional, communicative, and flexible to work with! Our wedding was such a fun night, largely due to Trigger! T...
he photobooth and bar setup was perfect. The venue is great for a range of head-counts, and had so many useful spaces for all parts of our day. Highly recommend Trigger as a wedding venue!
We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue! This place is truly a hidden gem. We loved that we could pick all our own vendors and design the space however we wanted. Scott, ...
the owner, was absolutely fabulous. His flexibility and willingness to accommodate our needs made the planning process so much easier.
Leading up to our wedding, Scott was a calming presence, helping to ease any anxieties we had about how things would unfold. Thanks to his support, everything went off without a hitch, and we were able to enjoy every moment of our special day. We highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a cool, flexible space that you can make your own!

ches and details, it was amazing. Trigger is such a unique and fun space, and the total control over vendor choices for us made it an easy pick. If you're looking to get married in Chicago and have full control over your other vendors, this is it!
My experience with Trigger was one for the books. Scott handled my team and I as though he’s been hosting events since birth. He helped me navigate all of my barriers, even beyond ...
what the space offers (which is already plenty) he provided a preferred vendor list and explained the benefits of every one; he didn’t just hand it over. My guests LOVED the space and it was the perfect place to bring my vision to life.
We wanted to make sure we were choosing the perfect spot for our wedding-within our budget and a venue that felt like us. Trigger was the third venue of eight that we visited, but...
we both knew right away that Trigger was the one. We wanted to stay open to possibility so we still toured the other five venues, but none of them left a mark quite like Trigger. We fell in love with all the repurposed touches that Trigger's owners added to the venue. Aside from the bridal party lounge downstairs with an awesome foosball table, it's all the same level which appealed to me as we had a few guests with disabilities that presented as mobility challenges. Our wedding was very DIY and we loved that Trigger had so much personality of its own and wouldn't require too much in terms of decor, but Trigger still left enough room for us to add our own touches so that it truly felt like our wedding. We were allowed to hang photos of our relationship timeline in the rear of Studio A for the cocktail hour. Trigger also has an amazing sound system that allowed our DJ to bring even less equipment than he normally would. Trigger also included it's own arch so all we had to do was decorate it with floral clusters and some drapery. Overall, the entire space just gave us such a warm, eclectic, and relaxed vibe and the owner, Scott Tallurida, was so helpful, friendly, patient, and accommodating. For instance, hair and makeup was onsite at Trigger and Scott was flexible with our start time and allowed us into the venue before 8am so we could get everyone squared away. He also allowed us to leave the leftover liquor onsite for our liquor vendor to pick up. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect day or a more perfect venue that just fit with our style. We are so grateful to have found Trigger and to have had the pleasure of working with Scott. We definitely recommend Trigger for your next big event.

ore. What I appreciated the most was Scott's (the owner) calm and excited attitude. Everyone always tells you weddings are going to be so stressful, but planning everything with and at Trigger just felt FUN
We got married at Trigger in October 2023 and could not have been happier with the experience. The space is gorgeous, flexible, and very cool--we got so many compliments. We had ve...
ry minimal decor and, I think, got away with it because Trigger is so cool on its own. I loved the garage door that opens to an outdoor space, especially as we had many COVID-vulnerable guests. Scott was amazing--an excellent communicator who always answered my questions promptly and never made me feel like I was being a pest. Day-of, he was a huge source of comfort and calm! And the price truly cannot be beat in Chicago. I wish I could do it all over again, we had such a fabulous time!
Trigger was simply the best. Perfect laid-back yet classy atmosphere for our wedding. Scott hung in with us through several pandemic cancellations and postponements, and everything...

no better place we could have imagined having our wedding.
I searched high and low for an event space in Chicago that would accommodate 100 guests but not break the bank. Was about to give up hope when we came across Trigger by pure luck! ...
It's such a dream because the interior is so artistic and fun. It's by far the most affordable big event space in Chicago city proper with the most laid back and helpful owners. We booked the space back in 2019 and postponed once due to COVID, and Scott & Julie were so flexible, kind, and compassionate about the whole ordeal. Scott is extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. We also liked the option of being able to rent linens, glassware, tables, etc. almost everything through them--it just made the process easier. All of our guests loved the venue as well. Wonderful positive experience!
Trigger is a hands-down amazing location and Scott is a joy to work with. The space is beautiful and you have flexibility to decorate as desired, bring in your own food and drinks ...
(we had Irazu cater which was perfect because they knew the space and had worked there before). Scott was there to help with things as they popped up, was incredibly communicative throughout - cannot recommend it highly enough. Also, the price for renting the space cannot be beat - everything else we looked at was easily twice as much.
We booked Trigger for our wedding. It is a really fun and vibrant space that we absolutely loved. Scott is a joy to work with and extremely accommodating. Our guests loved it. High...
