Thompson Savannah

he perfect home base for our entire wedding weekend. First and foremost—the food was INCREDIBLE. Our guests absolutely raved about it, and it was genuinely one of the highlights of the wedding. The food and drinks throughout the entire hotel are amazing as well. Stevedore Bakery is perfect for breakfast and coffee, Fleeting offers a great restaurant and bar on the first floor, and Bar Julian on the rooftop has amazing food, drinks, views, and a great happy hour. Between the restaurants, rooftop, pool, and complimentary Tesla transportation around Savannah, there is so much for guests to do without ever leaving the property. And when they do, River Street and plenty of Savannah's attractions are within easy walking distance. The rooms are beautiful, the accommodations were excellent and convenient, and every member of the hotel staff we encountered was friendly and professional. It really felt like our guests could make an entire vacation out of the wedding weekend. We hired our own wedding planner, but the Thompson also provided their in-house event planner, Jasmyn, who was absolutely incredible. She worked seamlessly with our planner and vendors and truly served as the glue that held everything together behind the scenes. Even the smallest issue was immediately addressed. At one point, we noticed a line forming at the bar, and before we knew it, the issue had been handled and the night continued without missing a beat. That level of attentiveness made such a difference. We used the Sunroom for our ceremony, which was then flipped for the reception, with the dance floor outside on the patio—and we LOVED that setup. Having everyone dancing outside under the Savannah night sky was such a fun and memorable part of the evening. We used the Elba + Fig meeting room for cocktail hour. With 81 guests, it was a little tight, but guests were able to seamlessly spill into the adjacent lobby, where there was plenty of additional seating, so it ultimately worked very well. If we had to mention one drawback, it would be that some of the surrounding outdoor space is public, so you don't necessarily have control over what may be happening outside the hotel during your event. There happened to be a music and food festival taking place during our wedding, which created some additional background noise during our ceremony. That said, it was a relatively small inconvenience and was quickly forgotten once the celebration got underway. The cherry on top was all of the concessions and Hyatt perks that came with hosting our wedding at the Thompson, which added even more value to an already incredible experience. Between the food our guests are STILL talking about, the beautiful hotel, amazing staff, multiple restaurants and bars, location, amenities, and fantastic event spaces, the Thompson was everything we could have wanted for our wedding weekend. We would highly recommend it to anyone considering a destination wedding in Savannah!
