I could not recommend Kathy Love & her husband enough. Kathy officiated my wedding in July of this year (2026) she was very nice & listened to exactly what I had in mind for the ceremony.
She helped me out a lot even during our rehearsal and helped us ensure everything would flow together well.
My husbands grandmother is who recommended her, she had actually officiated my husbands parents wedding which was pretty unique to also have her officiate ours.
If you’re looking for someone who truly loves what they do, is flexible and will make sure your day is perfect I would reach out to Kathy :)
Kathy Love truly lives up to her name! She was incredibly kind and helpful during the entire process. She was in contact often with me to make sure things were going smoothly and trying to make the ceremony go as well as possible.
I had many emails and a phone call with her where she sent me many drafts of her speech and listened to any suggestions that I had.
During our rehearsal, she did a great job of directing everyone and wasn’t afraid to point out things that could be better.
During the ceremony, she spoke eloquently and with poise. She wrote an incredible speech, and the entire experience was so smooth!
I would most definitely recommend this company to anyone needing an officiant. Thank you, Kathy!

Revs. Kathy and James Love are interfaith ministers with The Wedding Chapel Officiants. We have officiated weddings since the year 2000, having helped more than 1,000 couples in the Des Moines, Iowa area, and areas surrounding!
Whether you just need to sign paperwork to make it legal, prefer something informal with just a few guests, have a large, grand wedding, or something in between - we listen to what matters to you most, help you feel comfortable, and make sure you know what to expect. We've officiated weddings in event centers, hotels, restaurants, parks, wineries, club houses, private homes, even a golf course! We've learned that a meaningful wedding, regardless of location, is about two people choosing each other, and the people, places and moments that make their story unique.

Hi! I'm Rev. Kathy Love, and my husband, James, and I have helped couples say “I do” for 25+ years! We are both interfaith ministers, and together we've officiated over 1,000 weddings!
In 2000, James and I opened The Wedding Chapel in Valley Junction. Our own wedding was the chapel's first official wedding!
Our first clients struggled to find someone to marry them because she was pregnant and their minister couldn’t do it. (Sometimes life doesn't happen in the order we expect!) Our chapel was beautiful, but our custom pews weren't finished. They didn't want to wait, time was ticking, so we married them for free. Definitely a win-win, and our first practice run!
After five years in Valley Junction and ten in Clive, we closed our facility in 2015 for more grandkid time—but never stopped doing what we love!
Today, we bring the wedding to YOU!
One couple suggested having their wedding at a rest stop halfway between our cities. LOL! We settled on a park, sat on a blanket with their Mastiff, who took up most of it and was their ring bearer!
We even officiated six weddings in one day on 7/7/7!
In July, 2026, we celebrated a special milestone, completing three generations of weddings within one family! Being trusted to share such important moments across generations is an honor we never take for granted.
One of our favorites was a "surprise" wedding! The couple invited family and friends to their house one Saturday for a barbeque and surprised everyone there by getting married! Very Fun!
