The Villa Del Sol

The venue had so much character that decorations did not have to extreme. We had such an amazing wedding and super happy we didn’t go anywhere else, however the venue was a little smaller so the amount of guests we had, we had to squeeze a bit but still worth it

ve to say my feelings were incredibly hurt for months leading up to our wedding. The stress the venue caused made me question why we ever chose this place. From January to March, two venue managers were hired and fired. Which made everything unorganized. However my main issue was with Antonette who took over venue management. Our deposit deadline was coming up and so I emailed the venue on 7/18 at 8:39am asking them when I could drop it off. Antonette responded and had no idea who we were and didn’t know if we were doing both a ceremony and reception there. She also asked me that morning via email if I wanted to still rent the Bridal Suite. I said YES and Antonette told me that the hours are from 11 AM to 7 PM and that it will be locked at 7 PM and all our stuff will need to be out. I told her that Celina, the prior manager, promised me that the bridal suite would be open all night so that we can have our things secured in there. She told me that under no circumstances could the bridal suite be open past 7pm. She also told me to take a look at the promotional flyer on the VDS website for the suite info and that she would still give me the “2024” promotional pricing. Geez thanks, we were still 2024 btw! I did take a look at the flyer and the flyer advertised the bridal suite as ALL DAY, nowhere does it say 11-7PM only, I pointed that out to her but she still told me no. Frustrated by the empty promises, I sent an email back saying that I was disappointed in how VDS was handling everything, but that I still believed our wedding would be incredible and that YES, I would like to rent the bridal suite even for the shorter hours. I asked Antonette to send me the contract, she responded with this at 1:22pm, “Sorry, I have a photographer interested in renting it for an engagement shoot.” My issue with this is that Antonette asked me that morning if I still wanted to rent the bridal suite and when I said yes a few hours later she told me that it was unavailable because someone else rented it. It was rude and it felt very vindictive of her. I also found it weird that she would rent out a bridal suite to some random person on someone else’s wedding day. At that point my husband and I dropped everything and drove to her office with the contract for the bridal suite and the deposit to see if we could still get it. We had an explosive argument with her at her office. I kept asking her, Why would you ask me about wanting to rent the bridal suite and then tell me that it’s unavailable? All she said was that we didn’t have a contract on file, with an incredibly rude tone. I told her no one reached out to me until I reached out to you this morning. If I knew the suite could be rented out on my wedding day, I would’ve signed the contract in January, but no one told me this. I asked her why didn’t they check the calendar to see if there was a wedding when they booked this photographer? Her response was still there was no contract on file. A few days later, she emailed me saying that the photographer moved his shoot and that I can rent the bridal suite, this was nice to hear, but it still didn’t make up for the rudeness and vindictiveness that we experienced from her. I’d also like to point out that the food platter, water, and champagne was never delivered to the bridal suite.

tive inspiration. Shawna is great to work with and guided us through the intimidating wedding process! On a practical note, it still worked great for a summer wedding because it has a ton of natural shade!
