We held our wedding at the Townsend in the Clancy Room last week and had an amazing experience. The Townsend made us feel special and attended to even as there was another much larger event happening at the same time in the ballroom. The Clancy Room was absolutely perfect for an intimate celebration (we had about 40 guests) that still felt upscale and sophisticated. The room is so beautiful as-is you hardly need additional decor. Plus, several of our guests told us it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, especially Maia Wertenberger. From the first time we met to tour the venue, Maia really listened to us and understood our vision. Throughout all our communications she was incredibly organized, professional, and just easy to work with. She made sure all the little details were attended to and everything turned out exactly as we discussed on the day. Even last minute changes we made at the rehearsal the day before were handled perfectly. Another huge shout out to Jeff who helped us during the reception and was also extremely professional and kind. My husband and I were so impressed with every aspect of the service.

From helping us plan our engagement party to working through every detail leading up to our wedding day, Maia was incredibly helpful, attentive, and accommodating. She made the entire process feel seamless and stress-free, and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was exactly what we envisioned. We absolutely loved both the ceremony and reception spaces. They were beautiful, elegant, and the perfect size for our guest count. The food was amazing from start to finish… from the appetizers to dinner and, of course, the desserts. Maia also helped us customize our dinner and event selections, which allowed us to make everything feel so personal and truly our own. No detail was overlooked. The staff throughout the entire weekend was exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and attentive, constantly checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed, while also handling everything behind the scenes so seamlessly that we never had to worry about a thing. That made such a difference on our wedding day because we were able to completely relax, be present, and enjoy every moment with our family and friends. We also loved having the bridal suite and room block available for our guests. The bridal suite was the perfect space for getting ready, and having breakfast and lunch brought in while we were preparing was incredibly convenient and made the morning even more enjoyable. One of the things that stood out to us most was the cleanliness, timelessness and overall luxury of The Townsend. Every part of the property and experience felt so well cared for, and the staff truly made our entire wedding weekend extra special. It was even better than we could have imagined. ffortless. We were so impressed when we went for our menu tasting that we decided to have our rehearsal dinner there too! Maia, the catering manager, was our primary contact and was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was incredibly accommodating, responsive, professional, and attentive to every detail. We truly felt that we had nothing to worry about because she and the Townsend team had everything under control. Every request was handled graciously, and they went above and beyond to make sure both out reception & rehearsal were exactly how we wanted them. The customer service throughout the hotel was outstanding, the accommodations were beautiful, and the generous hotel room block was especially appreciated by us and our guests. The food was also amazing, and we received countless compliments about it. We even had dietary restrictions that they happily catered to. As an out-of-state couple, being at a full service hotel was priceless. Our every need was met instantly and with a smile. When it came time to steam & put on my veil, we discovered TSA got it stuck in the zipper after they inspected it. Before panic could fully set in, two engineers arrived to the room with a tool box & successfully saved the veil!! This is the kind of service you get at The Townsend. Being located in Birmingham is another great selling point. We had a large number of out-of-town guests, from different parts of the country & abroad, and they were all captivated by the town. Our NYC & California friends especially told us they wouldn't mind living there & started looking at homes on Zillow. The Townsend Hotel gave us an elegant, beautiful reception and an experience we will always remember. We are so grateful to Maia and the entire team for helping make our wedding celebration so special. Wedding Reception and After Party at The Townsend Hotel. From the moment we met to visit the venue setting, she was very responsive, professional, organized, patient, detailed and helpful. She was one of the main reasons we chose The Townsend as the wedding reception venue. With complete trust, we did not worry about any of the plans we made and she did not disappoint. She even made suggestions for changes to make for the filet when I wasn't 100% in love with the flavor after our first tasting. She made sure to check in with us leading up to the day and ensured that everything went according to plan and that we could enjoy the weekend. Upon arrival at the Townsend, all members of the staff were gracious and helpful to myself, family, and friends. It was a great place for the bridal party to get ready and a beautiful venue for the ceremony and reception. We had the ceremony in the foyer - which was stunning and used the tea lobby and foyer for cocktail hour then moved into the ballroom for the party. The ballroom has recently been painted to a fresh white color and there is new neutral carpet so the ballroom feels updated and fresh. I could not have picked a better venue. We brought in linens, chairs, and other decor but also used several of the included pieces from the hotel for our event. Everyone loved the food and thought the hotel was beautiful! We had brunch in the Regency Room, which was perfect as well. From planning to the day of service, I was very happy with The Townsend and would definitely recommend this venue and give high praise to Ashley and her team!

Leading up to the weekend, Ashley made herself available for multiple planning meetings, including additional time with our families and, importantly, close coordination with our planning team. Even though our reception was held off-site, the team at The Townsend worked closely with our planners to manage shuttle logistics, ensure all weekend events were timed smoothly, and handle many of the moving pieces that made the weekend feel seamless for our guests. The hotel also served as the location for our welcome party and as home base for our bridal party, with suites for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen. The facilities were elegant, clean, and perfectly suited to our needs. Catering was delivered on time and exactly as planned. Our guests consistently commented on how much they enjoyed their stay—the accommodations were comfortable, well-appointed, and made for a relaxing and luxurious experience. Behind the scenes, the team was incredibly good about working with our planners directly in addition to our family —from making sure all gift bags were delivered to the right rooms, to handling countless details we never had to worry about. Dozens of NYC guests stayed at the hotel and were delighted with service, ambiance and quality of the hotel. They loved walking around Birmingham and appreciated the fact that they didn’t need to drive/or shuttle around to the different events. Maia, from the events department, managed absolutely every detail we requested with professionalism and reassuring calm. She kept us on track with all the decision making, her suggestions were spot on, and she was so responsive and organized. Can’t thank her enough. . It is great to be the only wedding at the venue (day of). It is a classic, timeless venue. Our guests that stayed at the hotel also had fantastic stays. the “you can’t afford to have your wedding here” attitude which was extremely unprofessional. Additionally, she had no other information to give us besides the menu print off you can find on their website, and then proceeds to tell us that their menu is changing next year but with no further info to give us regarding the changes or price increases. She told us she’d be sending us an email the following morning with more information that we had requested, but it has now been over 4 weeks and we never heard back from her. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the service we received and the lack of information we were given during our appointment.
