With over two decades of experience in hospitality, event coordination, and critical care nursing, Sarah's passion for creating unforgettable moments and caring for people naturally extends into curating extraordinary celebrations.
Brendon Lally
Band Leader, Guitar
A professional guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and educator, Brendon Lally has been performing and teaching music for over 15 years. He’s the owner of Lally Music, where he’s helped hundreds of students find their voice, their groove, and their love for music. If you want to learn music theory, how to play the guitar or bass, he's your man. He’s not just the guy holding it down on guitar—he’s the one holding it all together. His sharp ear, attention to detail, and deep care for every single event ensure that each performance feels personal, polished, and unforgettable.
David Bigham

Since joining the band in 2014, David has grown into a leader, bringing soulful vocals, creative insight, and undeniable energy to every performance. Whether he’s delivering a show-stopping version of "Tennessee Whiskey" or helping refine the band’s marketing, he’s always giving his all. David has proudly performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Allstars. JaNae, whose dynamic voice matches her electric energy brings fire to every performance, and for her, nothing beats the rush of the first beat dropping, turning every moment into a full-blown dance party. JaNae joined The Ones and Twos in 2024 and felt like family from day one. A wife, mom, and lifelong music lover, JaNae balances her 9-to-5 career with a deep passion for performance—bringing fire, finesse, and soul to every show.

Vocals
Sarah combines her deep roots in jazz with refined vocal artistry. Known for her light, airy tone and polished musicality, she brings elegance and warmth to every performance. A dedicated music educator and versatile vocalist, Sarah has performed as a backing vocalist, guest artist, and soloist with some of Michigan’s top funk and rock bands before stepping into the spotlight as a jazz vocalist. She led her own jazz quartet and recorded her debut album, SarahTonin (2015), which showcases her vocal range and refined artistry.
John Patrick
Musical Director and Keys
Johnny is our beloved Musical Director, keyboardist, and co-founder of The Ones and Twos. By day, he’s a Mathematics professor at Eastern Michigan University. By night, he’s laying down grooves that keep the dance floor packed. John has been with The Ones and Twos since the very beginning in 2009, alongside Brendon and Graham, shaping the soulful, high-energy sound we’re known for. Whether he’s channeling Stevie Wonder on the clav or locking in a deep organ groove, John brings soul, precision, and serious musicality to every set. John is our Musical Director and creates all of the instrumental charts for the band which is no small task! Offstage, he’s just as cool—birdwatching, cooking, and working on an album of original music from his studio in Ypsilanti, where he lives with his wife and their two dogs.
Graham Rockwood
Bass
Graham is one of the original three who’s been with The Ones and Twos since 2009. By day, Graham is a licensed Neurologic Music Therapist and the founder of Rockwell Music Therapy, where he uses original music to help adults with brain injuries and developmental disabilities build confidence, connection, and community. By night, he holds down the low end with depth and precision, laying the foundation for the band’s signature sound. His playing is steady, intentional, and full of feel—bringing power and warmth to every performance. Offstage, Graham is full of surprises: he’s a proud dyslexic business owner, a chicken shawarma enthusiast, and once climbed an active volcano in Hawaii. Jeff Beck’s “Goin’ Down” is a personal favorite, reminding him of his dad every time he plays it.
Myron Bailey
Drums
Born on St. Patrick’s Day and raised in a family of musicians, Myron was playing professionally by age nine. His first major gig came in 1999, performing with gospel greats Rudolph Stanfield and New Revelation—and from there, he never looked back. With over 30 years of experience and performances alongside legendary artists like The Four Tops, Myron brings unmatched depth, feel, and fire to every set. A multi-instrumentalist with a degree in Recording Arts & Music from Full Sail University, he’s just as dialed in behind the board as he is behind the kit. His playing is dynamic, soulful, and straight-up electric. A multi-instrumentalist with a degree in Recording Arts & Music from Full Sail University, Myron brings both raw talent and refined expertise to every performance. He understands the music inside and out—from the feel to the mix.
James Hughes
Saxophone
A talented saxophonist and all-around good guy, James Hughes brings both skill and soul to The Ones and Twos. With a Master’s degree in Music from Wayne State University, he has built a career defined by collaboration, versatility, and a deep love for performance. He has had the honor of playing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Opera, Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, Paul Keller Orchestra, Hughes-Smith Quintet, and the Detroit Retro Society. Along the way, he has shared the stage with legends like Aretha Franklin, Josh Groban, The O’Jays, The Temptations, Marie Osmond, and Bernadette Peters.
Jimmy Smith
Trumpet
Detroit-based trumpeter, composer, and arranger Jimmy Smith is one of the most sought-after musicians in the Midwest. With a Master’s degree in jazz performance from The Aaron Copland School of Music and studies at Berklee College of Music and Wayne State University, his musicianship is second to none. Also a dedicated music educator, Jimmy has served as an artist-in-residence in New York City public schools and is a certified music teacher in Michigan. Beyond the classroom, Jimmy has an impressive career as a recording artist. He has released three albums as a co-leader with The Hughes/Smith Quintet and a fourth album with the Yao/Smith/Hughes Sextet on Shifting Paradigm Records. His playing has been described as “hot stuff throughout that never quits” (Midwest Record). A founding member of The Woodward Horns, Jimmy’s talents have taken him to stages alongside some of the biggest names in music. He has performed with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Verve Pipe, and many more.
Matt Martinez
Trombone
A freelance musician based in the Detroit area, Matt Martinez brings a bold and dynamic presence to The Ones and Twos’ horn section. Outside of the band, he keeps a packed schedule of live performances and recording sessions, collaborating with a wide range of groups and artists. Whether in the studio or on stage, Matt’s versatility and musicianship make him a go-to trombonist in the scene.

l & organized, but also fun & collaborative. Going into my search for a band, I was very specific about the vibe I was seeking for our big day. I spent months searching for bands, scouring the internet, watching Youtube videos, and leveraging all of the websites designed to help users find entertainment. probably listened to close to 60 bands. After all of this, I finally found the perfect fit that was The One's and Two's. I can say unequivocally, that they are the best and it wasnt even close. The equipment they use, the talent of the musicians, the range of the vocalists, the scope of their music library, everything was first class. I had even asked them to learn a couple songs that were not a part of their library and the were happy to accommodate. The final thing I want to mention because I think it is important, is that on the day of the event, there were a few hiccups that arose on our side that could have easily thrown them out of their groove but it did not. They were gracious, and accommodating, ensuring that our special day remained as stress free as possible.

They bring two sound engineers that DJ in between band sets to cover any songs you want played that the band doesn't have covered. Plus, he's such a nice person, as is everyone in the band! The band played the perfect mix of songs and everyone danced the whole time. They were really perceptive as to judging the mood of the crowd and kept up the pace with the mood. This was a Jewish wedding and they kept playing a long, ferocious, frenetic hora because everyone was having such a great time dancing to it! I thought they would play until 4pm (this was an 11am wedding) but they played until 4:30 with the same level of energy and joy they started with! If you want a fun happy event this is your band!

of my favorite memories from my wedding. This band is spot on from planning and organization to the quality of every single musician and singer. The band has an incredible song list and I promise if you trust them to handle the set list completely, the dance floor will be full the entire evening. (Side note, kids LOVED the live music.) Another huge plus, it was so entertaining for my friends and family that don't dance. They had a full evening of great live music and you just can't get that from a DJ. I will finish by giving a real bit of advice I wish I had found on all those wedding websites. I had been going back and forth on whether or not we could afford a band and if it would be worth it. I can tell you now, not to question yourself, if a band is what you want, because these guys are above and beyond worth it. I had a lower budget wedding and these guys treated me like a big budget bride from booking to playing. Thank you again, The 1's & 2's!
