enue at this price point. There were repeated issues throughout the day that required our personal coordinator and family to step in. We were promised golf-cart transportation from parking to the ceremony, but it was not provided. Guests were confused about where to go, and the groom ended up personally helping direct people. Golf carts and children on bikes/scooters were also moving through the ceremony area, including as the bride was walking out. The same children later attempted to enter our reception and take food from the buffet. Reception service was another major issue. The bride and groom's table was missing basic necessities like napkins and silverware, and we never received appetizers, chips and salsa, and other items that staff were providing directly to other guests. Our personal coordinator had to track these down for us. When we later asked for our table to be cleared for the cake cutting, that request was misunderstood as asking to have the food boxed up or taken home. When our cake arrived, family members and the cake provider needed assistance getting it into the kitchen. A staff member saw them and walked away without helping or directing them to someone who could. A family member eventually had to find another employee. We also had dirty chairs and a chair with a significant tear that our own coordinator and family had to address before the wedding. What was almost as disappointing as the wedding-day issues was how our concerns were handled afterward. We carefully documented what happened and gave the venue an opportunity to address it. Instead, the response repeatedly emphasized that staff had not "observed" many of the problems we described and that the venue believed it had fulfilled its contracted services. We understand that employees cannot see everything. But telling us that staff didn't personally observe something does not invalidate the firsthand experience of the bride, groom, family, and our coordinator who were actually there. The response felt dismissive and left us feeling as though we were being told our experience wasn't accurate. The venue also emphasized that our contracted food and services had been provided. We understand our contractual obligation and are paying what we owe. But fulfilling a contract is not the same as providing good service or a well-executed wedding. We are grateful for the people who did help us, and nothing can take away from the fact that we married surrounded by people we love. But a beautiful property cannot make up for poor execution and a response that left us feeling unheard. Based on both our wedding-day experience and how our concerns were handled afterward, we cannot recommend The Hills Country Club to other couples. If you're considering this venue, get specific details in writing about transportation, guest direction, bride-and-groom table service, and exactly who will be providing day-of support. A beautiful venue is only part of the experience. Service, organization, accountability, and how you're treated when something goes wrong matter just as much.
