This was a great venue for our vow renewal and reception! Saga was very helpful and accommodating from the initial consultation all the way through the event. The space was great for our 110 guests and having indoor and outdoor places available was amazing. The location was very easy for everyone to get to and the docks were beautiful for pictures. Would definitely recommend this venue.

A 2,067 + sq. ft. ballroom with hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, LED drop lights, skylights, cathedral windows, outside riverside porch & decks and bridal sequester room.
All rentals include:
- (10) 60-inch round tables
- (12) 6-foot rectangular banquet tables

on and setup process though. I think they need to give more time for people to decide how they want to set up their reception. There's a lot of questions that have to be asked between different vendors. I also didn't like that I sent a novel on how I wanted the flag room set up and when I went with my reception coordinator, they almost acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. A bit stressful, but the staff is very responsive. I also don't like that they advertise setup plans for 140 guests in the flag room and it definitely can't hold that many guests. I also thought it was odd that they have those setup plans, but they can't provide the chairs for it. Overall, my reception went well.

nd reception here last month. Thankfully, we had excellent vendors who also knew 'the lay of the land' to ensure we knew exactly how to dress up this seemingly simple, yet charming, river-side venue. I would absolutely get married again, but two things to note: the linens that are provided do NOT cover the table legs that are offered at the venue. Rent your own, or prepare to see plastic table feet on all dining and cocktail tables. ALSO - there is a somewhat dilapidated lattice 'wall' that is outside the venue on the lower deck. A couple sheer panels will easily hide this, but the venue does not offer anything. It's a bit of an eyesore I hope they will refinish/remove in the future. We loved our CYC wedding and can't thank the staff enough for a beautiful evening!

ou choose both your catering AND allowed you to provide your own alcohol (for any bride on a budget, know that this is a MASSIVE cost savings). Debbie was absolutely fabulous and soothing of any of my concerns and anxiety when wedding planning, and always welcomed me with open arms when I wanted to come in and look at the venue for décor ideas considering the flag room recently underwent renovations. We had our wedding on December 9th, so not only did we have the breathtaking Christmas tree for photo opps (not only for us, but for our guests – several guests made their photos at our wedding the highlight of their Christmas cards), but the Yacht Club also had beautiful string lights that were illuminated once the sun went down on all of the banisters overlooking the water. We wanted a winter wonderland wedding of sorts, and having our wedding at the Yacht Club allowed us to do just that. They were very lenient within reason and accommodating, and it really is an exceptional venue for the price. We were able to get some AMAZING photographs on the dock as well – and having the large sailboats in the background made it seem like our photos were taken straight out of bridal magazines. I’m so happy we decided to have our wedding at the Charleston Yacht Club. Book them – you won’t regret it!

ting right in the Harbor; the location size was ideal and we loved having the ability to have indoor/outdoor areas. One of the best parts of the Charleston Yacht Club was the few requirements/restrictions that were set on us. We did not have to worry about a food/beverage minimum, no requirement for a licensed coordinator or bar service - not that I’m not recommending that, but we had a lot more flexibility in our vendor booking because of that! We loved our wedding and had the best time at the Yacht Club! Debbie was also extremely kind and very helpful to answer any questions I came up with along the way!

The day of the wedding our chairs were not set up on the deck due to a “miscommunication”. We were called at about 10:30am and informed, please note that I did confirm this the Friday prior. We had to rush there to set them up ourselves. The venue was dirty from the night before and the fridges were packed full of food. Even know our contract said we had full access to the kitchen. After the fact we were informed that they were “miscommunications” and house keeping issues. Boards on the deck had also been taken up and replaced without being painted to match the rest. We were informed after that they needed to “weather” before being painted but no one informed us of this, please know that they were not like this 2 weeks prior because I would have bought an aisle runner. The AC couldn’t keep up with our 110 guests and most were outside on the deck for the majority of the night cooling down.
Over all it was a beautiful facility on the water but the amount of “miscommunications” bothered me greatly. Hopefully, over time this can be changed because the placement of this venue is amazing.

done was when my husband stopped by to show his parents the venue. We loved what had been done we just wished it had been communicated to us. The flag room was dirty and needed to be cleaned. Luckily my wedding planner hid all the scuffs and marks on the walls the best she could. The only other thing that I wish had been done was the lower deck should have been done at the same time so they matched. The lower deck looks weathered and boards are sticking up. I almost fell when walking down the aisle because of this.

She emailed me to remind me weeks after it was due and when I explained to her that my grandfather had unexpectedly passed, she was so comforting and continued to email me to check on my family and I. that the linens they provide are not floor length. So this is something you may want to check into. They are lap length so we ordered our own.
Also, we provided a diagram of how we would like the area set up, and it was not followed. There were also decorations left up from the previous wedding that were not taken down that we had to deal with. The yacht club does not let you in until 12pm, which is not an issue, but it was when we had to clean up after the previous wedding and were on a tight schedule. I would definitely go with the yacht club, but be sure to double check that the venue is set up to your specifications. The brides first thought walking down the aisle should not be what mine was, "Why are there not enough chairs for everyone?!" I should have doubled checked myself but with how hectic the day was I did not even think of it; I trusted in the yacht club and was let down. So just double check their work! They also had a staff member Oliver who was very rude to my bridesmaids. If you can get past that, it is worth the money compared to other Charleston venues! Beautiful view and decently sized room!

Make sure to tell your caterer that the all the electricity is on one circuit since the building is old and that they cannot have to many things running at the same time. My caterer used a generator because the power went out twice. Other than that, this is a wonderful venue!

Charleston Yacht Club. They were pleasant and helpful for the entire year (2012-2013) that I was planning my wedding, and they were one of the best deals that I found in all of Charleston for a reception venue. It is also such a beautiful place (with twinkle lights in the ceiling and a view of the marina) that I didn't have to pay that much for decorations! The only downside is everyone has to pay to park in the lot because the city of Charleston owns it. It's $1/half hour with a $12 daily maximum. However, I feel that this is a small price to pay for the benefits of using this venue. If you have any doubts or questions just call and ask to speak with JR - she is so nice and helpful. I would happily refer any of my friends to her and the Charleston Yacht Club for any large event they need to coordinate.

ly wonderful! She answered all of my questions promptly and was very helpful with my long distance planning. Oliver is the general manager of the club and he was our bartender for the evening. He was also very kind and helpful. Lots of things can be super over-priced in Charleston, but the Yacht Club was such a fabulous deal. The club provided a beautiful backdrop for our ceremony that was held on the deck overlooking the Ashley River. And the flag room where the reception was held was a great size for our 100 person guest list.

easonable rate than some other venues is a big perk!! My family and friends loved cocktail hour out on the big back deck. The only negative to the night was some warmth in the room after cocktail hour. I wasn't sure if the AC just hadn't caught up with the mass movement of my guests or if it just wasn't turned on, but after a while it became cool and everyone enjoyed the evening. The space was a perfect size for our 130 guests. We also got to leave by boat, which was wonderful!! Charleston weddings can be incredibly expensive, and the Charleston Yacht Club helped us keep the cost down. One thing to realize is that your guests (or you) will have to pay for parking-it's about 2/hr to park-my guests didn't seem to mind, but you should be aware.

With 2 huge HVAC units in the room, more than likely the issue was the exit door left open...
for easier access to and from the deck/porch areas to the Flag Room. Here's to hoping the constant breeze up and down the Ashley River kept everyone comfortable!
