We were referred to Derek by the wedding coordinator for our daughter’s wedding; and just have to say, I owe her a debt of gratitude. Throughout the planning, Derek was kind, pati...
ent and very knowledgeable about music and how to encourage guests to join the dance floor. His music selections were incredible and his energetic personality lit up the room. He also provided uplighting, creating an ambiance fitting for a romantic wedding reception. Guests commented on Derek’s skill as a great DJ. We are so pleased he was part of our daughter’s special day.
We knew Derek was going to be awesome based on all of our calls with him leading up to our wedding day, but he completely blew us away. All we wanted was to have our dance floor pa...
cked and he did not disappoint. He played banger after banger and kept everyone dancing all night long. Derek was also so kind and patient with us, answering all of our questions with ease and providing advice wherever he could. We truly did not want the night to end and that was 100% due to Derek's incredible talent. Look no further and hire him NOW!!
We could not have asked for a better MC and DJ at our wedding. Derek stops at nothing to ensure you and your guests have a great experience. Leading up to our wedding, Derek was ex...
cited to work together to build an amazing playlist not only for dancing, but our ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. We had a blast. We didn't feel passionate about much at our wedding, but music was one of them. We heard, A LOT, that our guests loved the playlist.
He doesn't just feel like the guy that's playing music at your wedding, but someone who genuinely wants to contribute to the whole event. He did everything he could to make sure the day was smooth, fun and filled with love. We don't need DJ's for much, but if we do again, we'll be working with him no doubt. Thank you so much, Derek!!!
Derek is the best! He genuinely wants you to have the best wedding day and it shows. At the end of the night he gifted us the album from our first dance which was such a thoughtful...
surprise. He has been a part of 2 (soon to be 3) weddings in my family and we have never been disappointed. The dance floor was packed all night!
WARNING: This is a long review, but only covers a small slice of all the reasons Derek was an amazing addition to our wedding. TL;DR: Hire him!!
My husband and I had the privilege...
of working with Derek from The Block Party for our March 2022 (rescheduled from March 2020) wedding. Our wedding weekend was incredible: warm, fun, sentimental, nostalgic and sparkly, and Derek was perhaps the most important ingredient to that.
As big audiophiles, finding the right wedding entertainment was a huge priority for us. We wanted to strike the right balance between nostalgia and freshness, high energy with moments of connection, and primarily, for the dancefloor to be full at all times.
Derek took the time to get to know us, understand our music interests and dream with us about the feel we wanted for our guests. His music knowledge and passion was outmatched only by his sincere dedication to help us bring our vision to life. He mixed disco hits and classic hits with modern music (and even dropped in some NIRVANA - amazing) flawlessly. When our dancefloor was filled with our 80-year-old grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, friends, and kid cousins all at the same time - smiles on their faces - we were so excited that everyone finally got to witness the magic we knew Derek was going to deliver all along. One of our favorite moments was when he was welcoming everyone and talking about us as a couple - we had MULTIPLE people come up to us afterward asking if he was a childhood friend. That's how deeply he "got" us.
If you want someone who tirelessly works to understand your vision and how music can impact the entire mood of a party, offers helpful guidance and suggestions, can READ the dancefloor like some kind of mystic, and can effortlessly guide the flow of your day so you can truly enjoy it, look no further. We were lucky enough to have him for our welcome reception, cocktail hour and reception, and he helped us create a very specific atmosphere for each.
His attention to detail, ability to adapt to the changing needs of the day, truly unreal special touches (he brought lighting for our welcome reception, a beautiful vintage microphone for us to use during the ceremony and purchased our wedding song for us on vinyl) all while managing to also somehow keep YOU calm was nothing short of magical. We would make the investment over and over again, and have referred him to close friends. We cannot thank him enough.
Derek is hands down the best DJ I've ever met!! He absolutely killed it at our wedding and so many people came up to me to tell me how great they thought he was! Even my Maid of Ho...
nor, who is notoriously picky when it comes to music, sang his praises all night! I didn't even use the bathroom throughout the entire reception because I couldn't leave the dance floor. When we went to take sunset photos, my now-husband said "I'm jealous of all our guests who get to keep dancing while we take photos" :D. If you hire anyone else, you're wrong. Derek also attended our rehearsal and went over the finer details to make sure everything went exactly as we planned it! I seriously can't thank them enough for helping us make our wedding the best day of our lives!
One of the most important things of our wedding was the DJ and DJ Wes at Block Party did not disappoint!! We wanted everyone on the dance floor all night and that is exactly what w...
e got! DJ Wes knew exactly which songs to play to keep the vibe going all night! They make sure they work with you on exactly which songs you want (If you want to go that far in the planning process) or they can work with a few suggestions. DJ Wes is so nice and personable and made working with him fun! 10/10 would recommend working with them!
DJ Wes did such a fantastic job. He played a wide range of music that helped get all of our guests out on the dance floor. Our guests danced until the very last song! His transitio...
ns between songs were phenomenal, scratching records and building anticipation for the next song. So many of our guests commented on what a good job he did. Also, he did a great job keeping things on track throughout the night. Absolutely loved working with him.
Wes we love you! Guys this team is so passionate about their music. After our first meeting, we left saying “man this is going to be a party”. We postponed our wedding twice becaus...
e of Covid and they were so accommodating each time. Wes is definitely a good vibes only man. I was pretty nervous about blending traditional Lebanese music and drummers but he did it so well! We will miss this man! Thanks for making our wedding such a smash Wes <3
Derek/The Block Party was AMAZING. Easily my favorite vendor to work with. He was so easy going, and so responsive. He truly gave us the best service and best experience. We met vi...
a zoom before the wedding to go over the whole vibe and what we were looking for and he totally nailed it. We had soo many guests come up to us to let us know how great our DJ was. I was very particular on some of the music and he was able to deliver on everything. I loved his positive and laid-back attitude, it feels so good to have a vendor you don’t have to stress about on your big day!! If you want the best music and MCing experience you NEED to book The Block Party! I will miss working with Derek!
Derek is an incredibly professional and fun DJ. He really knows how to throw a party and we got countless compliments from our guests for how great of a job he did. Not only did De...
rek make sure our reception was the house party vibe we were looking for, but he also did a fantastic job putting together the music for our ceremony, grand entrance, and dinner. He did an absolutely beautiful job of bringing in the right amount of lighting to highlight the beauty of our space.
An unexpected bonus was having Derek show up to our rehearsal. He stepped in to help get us organized when we were lacking some guidance from the venue’s staff. He truly saved the day and our ceremony would have been a total cluster without his expertise and willingness to go above and beyond. Forever grateful for everything Derek did to make our entire wedding weekend absolutely wonderful.
I don’t know if words can ever be enough to describe how amazing working with Derek at The Block Party was. From our first conversation we knew he would understand exactly what wer...
e looking for and he definitely delivered. I am still getting messages weeks later from guests about how amazing the music / party was. Derek took our very eclectic music taste and he ran with it. It was exactly what I imagined for our wedding day. Everything was perfect. Don’t think I left the dance floor one time. Would definitely recommend!!!!!
Wes DJ'ed for our wedding in October, and he was AMAZING. These guys seriously know what they're doing, and working with Wes to finalize everything before the wedding was so much f...
un. We got married at a venue with some pretty cool Motown music history, and he was able to use that influence really beautifully throughout cocktail hour especially, and into the rest of the night. We also had a long list of guest requests that he did a great job sorting through and incorporating in a way that flowed with the vibe all night. Plus, even just Wes's personal energy and vibe was so great at our wedding; we knew we were in great hands, AND it felt like having another friend there at the DJ booth. Totally recommend!
Derek sets the bar for DJs impossibly high— you can’t do better! His warmth and perception were appreciated in both the planning process and the big event. He did a marvelous job s...
etting the tone for the evening, went above and beyond with individual touches, and kept the dance party going the whole night! I want to throw another dance party just so I can work with Derek again!
I have been to a lot of weddings and I have never seen a better DJ so I knew I had to book Derek with The Block Party for our big day. Derek was amazing to work with leading up to ...
the wedding. He was always quick to respond and was very flexible with all Covid related changes we needed to make for our big day. In the end we only had around 40 people at our wedding and just about every one of them spent the whole night on the dance floor. It was the best! So many guests commented that Derek was the best wedding DJ they had seen. Do not hesitate to book!
Derek did an incredible job at our wedding! He played a great mix of music to get all of the guests out on the dance floor. The floor wasn't empty for even a moment of our wedding!...
All of our guests raved about the music and above all he kept the atmosphere fun for everybody.
On top of throwing a great dance party, Derek also did a great job listening to what our wants/needs were for ceremony and reception music, and helped put together a vision that we had been struggling to put into words. I would recommend Derek to anyone looking for an awesome DJ!
We knew the vibe we wanted for our reception music, but we didn't want to prescribe a playlist, so we gave Wes a handful of songs and told him to run with it. And man, did he UNDER...
STAND THE ASSIGNMENT. He is such an awesome hype man, and kept the party excited and on the dance floor the entire night (and told our guests that requested "mmmbop" and "cotton eyed Joe" to go to hell in a kind enough manner that they looked forward to the trip). You're the man, Wes!
Derek was definitely put through the ringer at our wedding!! He did an amazing job navigating different music tastes, other DJs as guests (and actually letting him play), and a sur...
prise karaoke performance. We also asked him not to play a song that we KNEW would get requested. Through all of this, our guests continued to say it was the best wedding ever! He had the nicest things to say about my sister’s speech that truly stuck with my Mom. Derek was absolutely wonderful to work with!
AHHH THE BEST!!!!!!! Derek and his wife are absolutely incredible. I will admit I wasnt so sure about having a DJ for a intimately 30 person wedding. BUT I WAS SOOOOO WRONG! It...
was AMAZING! It was just the perfect curated music Derek helped me put together. It was everything! He mentioned helping with ceremony and i wasn’t sure what he would be doing. Well totally wrong again. I feel like if they were not there it would of been super awkward with just music randomly playing and not timed perfectly. They did just that! From perfectly timed music to the start of ceremony to the sound system for us during ceremony. I never realized the amount of help a dj would be other than the music you want to dance to. It doesn’t stop here.... After our beautiful ceremony wrapped up Derek had music and a short and quick announcement to help guest move to cocktail hour with any awkwardness. It was so important and was amazing how well he was being behind the scenes but always there for the major moments. From cocktail hour to are amazing dinner the perfect songs played all night long. Well didnt even think about speeches and a sound system! Well here was Derek again making everything amazing! Those little details made such an impact on our perfect night. Last but definitely no least was the night of dancing! THE MUSIC WAS AMAZING!!!! One thing I always brag about Derek is his transition from one song to the next. He just knows how to keep you on the dance floor. His wife Clare who was there to help was an absolute gem! There are countless things I can write on here about how amazing The Block Party is. If you are looking for a DJ that really really knows what they are doing. This team is it! I cant thank them enough for how special they made our night. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Derek from Block Party was a fantastic DJ and helped us throw a kick ass party for our wedding. Yesterday was our 1 year anniversary, and we spent it dancing around our house to th...
e recording of our wedding dance party set that he DJed for us. He is super professional, hardworking and reliable, but also kind and excellent person. He went beyond what we could have hoped for, and even gave us a framed record of our first dance song. We had some special requests (including rehearsal dinner karaoke), and he made our vision a reality. Block Party's pricing is fair and totally transparent -- no extra fees or nickel and dime charges for extra services. And, while they wasn't the cheapest option we looked at, the Block Party felt like a total bargain given the quality of service we got. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Our wedding was originally scheduled for June 5, 2020 and we unfortunately have to postpone to 2021 due to COVID-19. Derek was extremely professional and understanding and did not ...
hesitate to work with us to find a new date. It was such a weight off our shoulders knowing we had chosen an industry professional. We cannot wait to have Derek for our wedding next year! What a party it will be!
If you're looking for the perfect wedding DJ that will listen to your needs and make sure to keep your dance floor alive all night - look no further. We could not have asked for a ...
better DJ and received so many compliments on him after our wedding. He made the party and we could not have been happier that we chose Derek and The Block Party.
Derek did a phenomenal job at our wedding! He met with us several times beforehand and got to know us and our unconventional venue. He not only provided music for our reception but...
also tailored music for our ceremony and our cocktail hour where he played our personal record collection. He kept the dance floor moving all night, he was a great person to have on our side and our team! We couldn’t recommend The Block Party more! Can’t wait to hire them again for our next special event.
Derek was recommended by a friend and co-worker who knew that I was starting to look for vendors for my wedding. I can say, without a doubt, that without Derek, our wedding would n...
ever have been the smash hit it was!
Right from the get-go, Derek was very responsive and extremely excited to help make our wedding the style of wedding that we and our guests could enjoy. He helped us with both our ceremony and reception. My wife and I have more unique tastes in music, so we provided some examples of music we personally enjoyed and gave Derek free reign to mix and sample songs at will. Derek was fantastic at the DJ table all night and our guests loved his work, along with us.
One special request we had, that was not music related, was to add a more personal touch of mine and my wife’s personality into our reception. This touch of personality was to setup video game stations in our reception hall (opposite the dance floor) and have multiplayer video games (Mario Kart) available for our guests who may not be as up for, or just needed a break from dancing. Derek went above and beyond to help us craft the perfect setup for our gaming stations and they were a huge hit with our families and friends!
Throughout the entire process, Derek was extremely responsive and helpful. Never at any point we were concerned that the music and games we had planned would not turn out amazing! We can’t thank Derek enough for helping create great memories of our wedding day that will last us a lifetime!
Derek is a party master! He kept the mood fun and upbeat and because of that, the party on the dancefloor went past the time we planned to start to dial things back- and he totall...
y rolled with it! Derek is easy to talk to, found some pretty obscure songs we requested with zero problems, and we had tons of guests comment on how much fun they had dancing the night away! Highly recommend!
DEREK IS THE BEST. There is truly no other way to start this review than with that proclamation in all-caps. He was recommended to us by our photographer Abbey Moore (also the best...
!), and we are forever thankful because Derek was nothing short of EPIC on our big day last weekend. He is so friendly, quick with emails, super easy to work with, was open to all of our suggestions and recommendations, and even gifted us with our first dance song ON VINYL because duh, he's the best human and DJ alive.
He was so fantastic, I'm getting a little weepy thinking back to how wonderful of a job he did and how much fun our friends and family had at our wedding. Our guests are STILL talking about our big day and how amazing the music was. That truly says so much. We're his biggest fans now, and can't thank him enough for throwing the BEST PARTY EVER. Thank you, Derek!!!!
Wes is the man!!! We received so many compliments on our music and it was all because of Wes! In addition, he helped transition our evening from the dinner tent to the dance floo...

I grabbed his business card while attending another wedding and witnessing the magic of keeping all ages on the dance floor. That was really important to me, and his mix of music, guided by your own requests is 2nd to none.
He also has a talent for speaking to the crowd and his wife was the calming face that eased my nerves before I headed down the isle. I’d recommend 1000x’s over!

Derek is bar-none the BEST DJ you could select. I knew Derek through mutual friends from college. When we started the planning process he was my first call. A reception is one o...
f the most memorable parts of your wedding day. When we thought about our wedding, we wanted dancing to be central to the night. Derek DJ'd a good friend's wedding and remains one of the most memorable weddings to date, besides my own, and he had a lot to do with that! While he is based in Michigan and our wedding was in Colorado, he was willing to travel. Through the planning process, he was nothing but supportive, attentive and proactive in every way. He did everything to help take any guesswork out making the days leading up to our big day that much better. He worked seamlessly with our other music vendor for our cocktail hour, offering to provide equipment where needed. But the most important part about what Derek will bring to your day is the personalization and true passion for his job. He is truly committed to making your day special, no matter the tempo. I had many family and friends comment on how the playlist and overall music experience was so personalized to me and my husband. We happened to have a large screen near our dance floor that he projected music videos and even images of our honeymoon destination - great examples of personalization. He also creates amazing mixes that not only help to maintain the momentum throughout the day but tailors it to the crowd's energy levels. Through this, Derek and his wife have become a dear friend of ours. We couldn't have asked for a better day, filled with great music, dancing and friendship. He was central to our reception experience. I cannot recommend him enough!!! He is truly the BEST. Thanks to you Derek!!!!!
Before I even begin, let me just say that if you don’t hire Derek, you are missing out on an EXTREMELY talented and just all around great guy.
From the beginning, he was so easy ...
to communicate with, and I knew we were in good hands. After meeting for ice cream and going over my ridiculous hand written list of artists and songs that I love, he remained patient and attentive and wasn’t scared away by my type A personality!!
Fast forward to the best night of our lives. I’m not joking, I danced NONSTOP from the first song to the very last, and so did everyone else. He read the room perfectly, and friends that I rarely see dancing at other weddings were out there ALL NIGHT. My husband and I can’t stop talking about it.
I’ve received so many compliments from family and guests on not only what a great DJ he is, but also on his personality and ability to connect with the room.
If you love music and dancing and want people to be talking about your wedding nonstop, just hire him. Seriously, do it.
WOW! We worked with Derek for our ceremony as well as reception. HE KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. We booked because of all the wonderful reviews and we are so happy we did. Not o...
nly was all the music perfect, we had an emergency situation where the grooms father had to be rushed to the hospital. Derek kept everyone on track and went above and beyond to make sure everything went on schedule. I felt so comfortable trusting the wedding in his hands. We are still getting calls about how great the dj and lighting were. The vinyl he gave us was so sweet! We really enjoyed working with him. No only was he patient but so kind. Worth every penny spent.
We hired The Block Party for our wedding and couldn't be happier. Wes did an incredible job building a consistent vibe off of our somewhat eclectic musical tastes. He kept things f...
lowing very smoothly from before the ceremony through the end of the night. He was enthusiastic about tailoring all of the music to our personalities, and it was evident. We've gotten a lot of compliments about how fun our wedding was, and Wes really brought all of it together. Can't recommend highly enough!
When you are faced with a million choices for wedding vendors, it can be really overwhelming. But let me help you out here, you have FOUND you DJ. Stop looking!! Derek is seriously...
the ABSOLUTE best!! He single handedly made our party as fun as it was! He does such an amazing job reading the crowd and playing things that get everyone moving. He helped us so much - planning walk out times and giving us a good idea of how to organize our evening! We truly could not have done it without him. Since the wedding I have had MULTIPLE people ask me for his contact information, and one of our guests (who is a wedding photographer btw) said that he is her new favorite wedding DJ of all time!! We got pretty incredible complements all around! More importantly, he is one of those vendors that you can absolutely trust to make everything go smoothly, so we got to relax and enjoy our own wedding! I know it sounds silly, but on the day of there are so many things going on that it is easy to worry if everything is okay. With Derek I never even had to question. He helped us plan, he adapted to last minute changes in our schedule, and he created an incredible atmosphere that we will remember for the rest of our lives! Seriously, these guys are the best!!!
Our wedding wouldn't have been the same without Derek. Trust me when I tell you the biggest guest take away from an event is good entertainment and I can promise you, if you hire T...
he Block Party you will have the most memorable wedding of all time! Derek listened to our hopes and dreams and brought them to life better than I could've imagined. Talented, trust worthy, and simply fun.
You're crazy if you don't hire Derek or Wes of The Block Party. As a wedding photographer I have worked with hundreds of DJ's over the year - and no one is even comparable to Derek...
. He goes the extra mile for his couples and the other vendors he works with. Once he even worked an entire weekend for a couple and from DJing a talent show to a morning brunch - it was the most perfect weekend I've ever been a part of. He makes people feel loved and most importantly no one can leave the dance floor when he is mixing. You will literally see people sweaty, tired from dancing attempting to leave - and then the most amazing song will come on and they have no chance but to continue dancing. It's truly magical and I always end up staying an hour later on the days I'm working with him.
Literally stop your search and hire him now!!!!
Derek is not one of the best, he is the best. From speedy replies to coffee meet up’s, Derek surpassed expectations. He didn’t work for me, he worked with me and helped throw down ...
an epic wedding. His presence was memorable and meaningful. Our first dance song was “the wonder of you” from the Big Little Lies soundtrack. Not only did he buy it on vinyl he allowed my husband to set it up and then gave us the album at the end. We are currently getting the vinyl framed. It’s touches like this that can’t be matched. Thanks again Derek, these memories you help create are memories for a lifetime.
We could not have booked a better act for our wedding! Derrick made the party happen - hands down. This is not the guy that plays a cliche wedding playlist. He knows what the crow...
d wants, and he brings it - I'm pretty sure at one point he had every person at our wedding out on the dance floor with us dancing. He and his wife Clare are not only a must-have for your wedding, but they are also great people and work hard to make sure there's not just a wedding, but a wedding party. I can't imagine our wedding without him being the DJ. Thanks a lot for being such a key part of it for us!
Derek is an incredible DJ! We really wanted a vinyl DJ for our wedding, and when we discovered Derek's website and mixes we were blown away by his talent. Months later, I still scr...
oll to his site and listen to the mixes on my commute. He was very friendly and professional and made us feel comfortable from the moment we met him. His pricing and services were straightforward, fair, and transparent, but more importantly, I felt like he really listened and understood what we wanted. We gave him just a few song suggestions and let him do his thing, and he was able to build from those to create a really special evening and party. He also did a wonderful job with introductions (including some tough-to-pronounce names, which he handled perfectly) and helped us to create a fun environment that wasn't cheesy. We had a blast, and our friends and family were on the dance floor all night! I would highly recommend The Block Party to anyone looking for a wedding DJ.

it it out of the park! I still have family and friends complimenting the music! He did such an amazing job interacting with all the different age groups at our wedding and managed to get everyone on their feet! We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ! Highly, highly recommend!
To say that our experience with Derek was stellar is an understatement! From our first meeting with him we instantly felt like we had found someone that we could trust. He was frie...
ndly, professional, knowlegable and instantly had ideas to make our wedding day music unique. At our final meeting before the wedding, he wanted to hear all of our ideas! He wanted to know what WE wanted! On the day of, Derek was on time and checking on not only his set up, but also coordinated with the venue and photographer as well. In addition, he checked on the bridal party as well to help keep everyone on track. Which to me was unexpected but extremely helpful! The music itself was amazing - we received so many compliments and positive feedback about how much fun everyone was having! He even played a custom Backstreet Boys mix for me (I’m a lifelong fan) and the crowd was LOVING it!! Honestly, can I do this all over again just so I can enjoy the music? Loved it. The service was beyond what I could have ever expected and I would recommend The Block Party over and over! Thank you!!!

livered. His DJ style, confidence and excitement for our event reassured us that we would not have to worry about the music. He was also really responsive & helpful before & during the event. We are so happy we found him!
Derek rocks! We were so happy with The Block Party being our wedding DJ. On relatively short notice, we secured The Block Party's services and had a conversation with Derek over th...
e phone. He was (and still is) calm, reassuring, and helpful. A few weeks before our wedding, we met with him at the venue—because he had not been there before—to go over logistics. He reviewed what items he would need and how the evening would go. He provided helpful suggestions for us as well.
On the wedding day, he kept our guests informed about what was happening and helped us stay on the schedule we developed together. Since the weather was so beautiful, we actually decided to move dancing outside since the venue had outdoor speakers. Derek had plugged into these speakers earlier and was able to DJ from inside. Though Derek was inside on the other side of a brick wall and could not see the dance floor, his intuition and skill kept the dancing and great music going all night. He played the songs we wanted. A little before midnight, we moved inside and were able to see Derek continuing to DJ while the dancing continued.
While it felt like Derek went the extra mile for us, we believe that this is just how he and Block Party are. This is what they do for their customers to make their events special, fun, and memorable.
We highly recommend The Block Party to anyone interested in having a rocking, fun wedding where the DJs know exactly how to keep the party going all night. You will not have to worry at all.
DJ WES! We were stunned at how many people stayed at our wedding until almost closing time because they were having so much fun dancing and singing. He was so easy to work with and...
calmed me down in times of stress. He was so cordial and considerate every time we talked. I frequently visited his table on the night of the wedding just to tell him I loved him because he was so great! He even let me work the table for a minute!!! The best part about him was he bought the album that our first dance was on. Such a sweet gesture and really shows what him and his company are al about

uests. He takes his job seriously--he listened to our preferences, and made great suggestions for what we should play, all of which led to a night of amazing music. Derek is unique in that he mixes songs together and his transitions from song to song is incredible, fun, and seamless. Many of our guests commented that they wanted to hire him for their wedding (or wish they could have)! I have my fingers crossed that I can attend another wedding or event where Derek is the DJ!
In addition to being a great DJ, Derek is just an all around great person who really helped make my wedding special. He helped my brother with setting up his keyboard to his speakers for my dance with my dad, and was amazing at gathering people together. One of the things that I will never forget from my wedding was the blessing Derek helped my dad with at dinner. It was one of the best moments of the night.
My husband and I got married this past May in Detroit, and Derek came highly recommended to us. What really intrigued my husband and I about Derek was the fact that he spins real v...
inyl! After talking with Derek, we knew we absolutely had to book him. He was prompt, listened to all our requests, was hilarious, and someone we honestly could be friends with lol. When it came to day of, Derek went so far above and beyond what any DJ is “expected” to do. He not only was the best MC of the night, but before the reception even started, he helped smooth out a little bump in the road with confusion about our cocktail hour. He then went on to ensure we had the best night of our lives, and even brought me tums and ginger ale when I wasn’t feeling well. He was always checking on my husband and I, and at the end of the night, he surprised us with the vinyl that our first dance song was on; it brought me to tears. He kept everyone on the dance floor at all times during the night, it was an absolute blast! We received several compliments throughout the night about how great DJ Derek was, and I could not agree more. We felt so blessed to have found Derek and to have been able to work with him! I would 100% recommend Derek to anyone looking for the best DJ for their wedding, and best is an understatement! Thank you again, Derek!
Derek was awesome! Read the feel of our guests, family friendly while still being really fun! Highly recommend this DJ!!!
Derek was our DJ for our rooftop wedding on 6/16, he’s the first review I made because he was the best! He was recommended to me by another photographer and after speaking with him...
on the phone for the first time and listening to his mIxtapes I immediately booked him. Derek went above and beyond to make sure he was prepared for our ceremony, cocktail party and reception. He was extremely accommodating; so kind and attentive to our special day. He was one vendor I had zero doubts about. Our ceremony was flawless, and our reception was perfection. He spoke at the right times and helped keep the night organized. He knew exactly what to play, when to dial it down. There was never an empty dance floor. His transitions from song to song really sets him apart from other DJs and I got so many compliments about him on the night of! To top it all off he gave us the gift of an actual record of our first dance song. Book him immediately you won’t regret it! Thank you Derek!
