There simply aren’t enough words to express how amazing our wedding experience was at Sweeney Barn in Manassas. Six months later, people are STILL talking about our wedding and telling us it was one of the most beautiful and memorable weddings they have ever attended — several have even called it “the wedding of a lifetime.”
From the very beginning, Sweeney Barn gave us everything we could have possibly asked for. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, but what truly sets Sweeney Barn apart is the way they handle every detail. They made everything so seamless and effortless that I genuinely felt like I could relax and enjoy my wedding day without having to lift a finger.
And that is priceless.
Our wedding day was everything we dreamed it would be and more. The atmosphere, the setting, the attention to detail, the service, and the way everything came together were simply perfect. We were able to be fully present in the moment — celebrating with our family and friends, soaking in every second, and making memories instead of worrying about what needed to happen next.
What means the most to us is that the experience didn’t end when the wedding did. Six months later, people are still talking about it. We continue to hear stories about how beautiful everything was, how much fun everyone had, and how incredibly special the entire evening felt.

Sweeney Barn is a historic wedding venue located in Manassas, VA. This venue offers a luxury experience for every couple with their team of professional staff and their passion for elegance. With the location’s central location, modern amenities and breathtaking architecture, you and your guests can celebrate a night to remember.
Established in 1939, the Sweeney Barn was home to the Birkett dairy farm. Thanks to owners Alannah and Noel Sweeney, the entire barn has been restored with as much original material as possible to maintain its authenticity. Today, this barn continues to be a wedding and events venue for all with its rich history and rustic indoor and outdoor spaces. Their spacious has two levels of indoor and outdoor space that can accommodate 200 of your beloved friends and family with wheelchair-accessible restrooms, assorted lanterns, and vintage decor.
Sweeney Barn is happy to host all wedding activities, including the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Whether you’re having a small or large celebration, this establishment offers extra items, such as arches, drapery, fire pits and decor. Before you walk down the aisle, Sweeney Barn provides a spacious dressing room for you and the rest of your wedding party to enjoy.

we appreciated. One consideration for future couples is guest count. While the barn can accommodate around 200, closer to 125 to 150 felt more comfortable in the space. When a venue provides a preferred vendor list, there’s an expectation that those vendors are thoroughly vetted and consistently deliver excellent service. Familiarity with the venue is helpful, but it shouldn’t replace the effort and professionalism couples are counting on. In our case, the preferred vendor we hired for delivered mediocre service, which led to inefficiencies and avoidable liquor waste. Strengthening the quality and accountability of preferred vendors would make the overall experience even stronger. Despite that, the setting gave us a beautiful day, and we would recommend the venue with those considerations in mind.

Your vendor recommendations and guidance as we navigated our catering options were invaluable. We also truly appreciated you coordinating with our vendors, allowing them to set up the day before since there were no events scheduled, arranging the early delivery and late-night pickup for our stage rentals with Brooke Rentals, and serving as the on-site point of contact.
The venue itself provided a stunning backdrop for our celebration, easily accommodating our flow from the groom’s welcome ritual on the lawn to the ceremony and reception. Even with the rain later in the evening, everything still came together beautifully. Our guests had a fantastic time, and we couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with.

The ground level was super bright and warm-perfect for the daytime when the sun is still out- and the upper level was very grand with beautiful chandeliers - perfect for a night reception. There are so many locations in and around Sweeney Barn that are perfect for couple photos: the stair case, gazebo, outside the barn, etc. We are extremely excited to see how the photos look!
Andrea and Meghan were also extremely easy and fun to work with. They made things very easy for us as the couple and the final vendor walkthrough was very quick and efficient. Overall, would definetly recommend Sweeney Barn as a venue of choice.

hey were prompt and professional in communication, and provided opportunities to explore other vendors through their open house events. Any questions or doubts we had were always clarified in a timely manner. They made the wedding planning process easy to work with. A plus is that the venue will offer several layout options both indoor and outdoor. It’s also wheel chair accessible, so our grandmother was able to go up and down the floors in her wheelchair with no problem. Weather can be unpredictable, and our wedding day ended up being the hottest day of June! But the staff was ready to quickly accommodate indoor plans and provide a beautiful, safe and comfortable space for us to celebrate our special day. Without a doubt, we highly recommend Sweeney Barn.

After our venue tour, we knew we wanted to compliment the aesthetic of the barn and its rustic style. The venue has a lot of different decor for their guests to use, a lot of which fit the vision we had, so that helped us quite a bit managing our decor budget. There are many details around and in the barn that not only our guests enjoyed, but made the perfect backdrop for photos.
Andrea, the GM, was fantastic from the start. She was communicative, suggestive, and thorough going over the entire process, features, timeline, etc. Andrea, along with our entire vendor team, coordinated together so well during the planning process and day of. They were attentive and detail oriented, which made us feel comfortable and at ease the entire time.

wnstairs, and outside). Andrea, Sweeney’s GM, always, without fail provided prompt responses and was incredibly organized throughout our year-long planning process. Andrea always replied to my emails quickly with clear, logical solutions, putting me at ease.
Our day-of representative, Kathy, was also exceptional. When my bustle malfunctioned, she quickly devised a solution that was seamless. Kathy was actively involved in the setup and takedown, and she was the person who did our initial walk-through (before we selected a venue), which convinced us to choose Sweeney Barn. Understanding pricing and what's included can be challenging, but Kathy provided just the right amount of detail during our walk-through, ensuring we felt informed without being overwhelmed. This was a major selling point.
I am truly grateful to Sweeney and the team for making our wedding so special. Their partnership was invaluable, and I cannot recommend Sweeney Barn enough. We feel incredibly fortunate to have been married in such a beautiful and unique location with a truly rockstar team of professionals. eral venues and none of them were quite right. When we saw Sweeney Barn, we knew almost instantly that it was perfect! The venue is beautiful and most other venues of this style are at least an hour out west, far from airports and hotels. Andrea is very helpful and responsive to emails. She was very helpful in getting us chairs for our reception as well! Our ceremony was at church, so we used the downstairs room for cocktail hour. It was a lovely August day and we were able to put out the lawn games that they have available! We had around 100 guests and there was plenty of room to move around while the DJ helped my family with a live music performance. The remainder of our reception was upstairs and we were able to make room for a buffet, manned pasta station, full bar, dessert table, and photobooth all while having plenty of room for 13 guest tables and a dance floor! The room is large, but the arched ceilings and low chandeliers make it feel very cozy as well. We happily made use of their available tables and round arch. Our photographer was able to capture many great photos in the beautiful spiral staircase as well as outside during our sunset photos. I hope to come back for another event someday!

We loved that we could have our ceremony in the light and airy bottom level, host an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour, and then the reception upstairs in the spacious upper-level barn loft.
The venue offers lots of equipment and decor, helping us save $ on decor and rentals. The entire space is gorgeous - guests gave us so many compliments about the venue. The silo staircase was also one of the big selling points for us. Loved the beautiful bridal suite as well!
It was just a short drive from several hotels and shopping areas, and right down the road from 2 Silos brewing, where we went for our after party.
Andrea and her team were so patient with all of our questions, and coordinated seamlessly with our other vendors. Highly recommend this space for your wedding or other event!

ail. Given the multiple spaces available, we had our ceremony downstairs and our reception upstairs so it was incredibly convenient for us. The reception space has the most beautiful high ceilings with dreamy chandeliers which made the ambience feel intimate and elegant. The barn style fit our rustic/romantic theme.
Working with the staff was incredibly easy and they were super helpful along the way. Andrea made sure that all our vendors were on the same page and she answered all our questions throughout the process. She ensured that the vendors had a detailed floor plan and was accommodating and updating it when changes were made. She honestly reduced a lot of the stress associated with bringing several vendors together while going over the plan for the wedding day. The venue also offers several other perks such as decor items that they provide which add a nice romantic touch to the space. There is also overnight parking for guests available which is great for guests. We were so happy to have our wedding at Sweeney Barn and will cherish all the beautiful memories we created there forever.
