Would give 0 stars if possible. We signed a contract with him about a year in advance thinking that his pricing was a little bit more affordable, but we were in for a rude awakenin...
g when we learned just how extremely unprofessional he was. We could never seem to get the opportunity to speak to him on the phone because he would come up with wild excuses last minute that eventually became too far-fetched for us to sincerely believe. We ultimately canceled our contract with him days before our wedding after reading other poor reviews on Yelp and google that he would cancel last minute on other customers. He was extremely nasty about it. He did not respect our event nor our time. I urge you to stay away from this vendor and read the reviews elsewhere as we experienced the same poor professionalism as others did.
There are few things people remember about your wedding when they attend… the food and the entertainment. After what felt like endless interviews and wedding expos, we were handed ...
the contact info for Shawn at SubSonic Events. From the very first conversation, we knew we had found our DJ! Shawn was so easy to talk to and his vast experience in the DJ world made us hiring him a no brainier. Then we received our quote and found out that he also had a photo booth…we felt like we were winning the lotto at this point. That was just the tip of the iceberg with the service you get when you hire Shawn.
In the months leading to the wedding, Shawn remained in contact and provided access to his website so that we could start curating our list for the evening. He created a custom monogram for our northern lights theme and even had them on the photos our guest received from the photobooth! He worked with us through all of the indecisiveness and craziness that comes with planning a wedding. He was in constant contact with my fiancé as we had a few last min details and changes for him which he nailed.
Fast forward to the day of the wedding and Shawn killed it. When we walked into our reception for the first time, we were blown away! The monogram we collaborated on was perfect, the photobooth and back drop were perfect…then to top it off, Shawn noticed the reception was missing something, so he brought out his new uplighting to lock in that under the stars, northern lights ambience. This was something extra that he did because he knew the reception would not be the same without it. This is the DJ and entertainment service that everyone needs…not the other big chain services, but the dapper DJ who puts his heart and soul into each event he works.
Then the reception started, and Shawn tore the house down! Everything from the grand entrances, through the end of the night was perfectly curated by a score provided through the turntables of a well-seasoned DJ who knows how to rock a crowd. Our dance floor and photo were both never empty and that is all thanks to the efforts of Shawn and Subsonic events. At the end of the night, Shawn was exactly who we hoped he would be, and we will hire him again without hesitation and anyone reading this should do the same…YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
AMAZING! Shawn is the best—he was so professional and very easy to work with. When we spoke over the phone to settle our final details you could tell he has the experience and knew...
exactly what he was doing. He listened to what we wanted and made it happen. He kept our guests engaged and towards the end of the night when our guests started to leave, he stayed with us until the very end playing hit after hit and doing karaoke! We were so impressed by his DJ skills, setup of his booth and all the colorful light displays around the venue. He customized a logo and made it all aviation just for us. We would 100% recommend Shawn because he was everything we were looking for and more! We got more than what we paid for… thank you so much Shawn!! Looking forward to the opportunity to hiring him again one day!

We also appreciated how he was able to create a custom monogram that encompassed our quirky gamer interests! The dancing on a cloud was so special and made our first dance feel like a dream. Thank you Shawn for going beyond to make our day special!
Shawn was great! My wedding was a blend of two cultures and he really made the night perfect!

My family is from Puerto Rico, and my husband's is from Michigan. Shawn blended both styles of music and catered to everyone so well! He is the best and extremely professional.

are so glad we did that! All of our guests loved the music played and he kept the party going! Our bridal party decided to change their entrance at the last minute (and also because we forgot to tell him ahead of time) but he quickly adapted and made what we wanted happen! He was very professional the whole time, offered smart suggestions and made sure we were happy with everything. We absolutely recommend Shawn to anyone looking for a DJ!

elping us with any questions, formulating the perfect mix of music and even creating a personal monogram to display around our wedding! On our day, he arrived very early to assure he had everything set up perfectly! He really kept the party going all night long! He’s really got the perfect ear for music and entertainment! We also did his Dancing on a cloud and it was BREATHTAKING!!! SO WORTH IT!! It made our first dance so magical and turned out for AMAZING pictures and videos ! We are so pleased with his services, and we couldn’t recommend him enough!!

ltation with him was awesome, and on the day of, everything ran super smoothly! He played all of our “must plays” and “play if possible” songs, and made sure to avoid any songs or artists we made note of. The sound quality was great and people were out on the dance floor the whole night! Our guests also LOVED the photo booth, and Subsonic provided props, a nice photobook and pens/markers that were were able to use as our guest book. We were able to customize our logo to show on the DJ booth and the photo strips, and got tons of copies as well as digitals! The photo quality was awesome and the attendants were very nice.
Everyone had an amazing time at my wedding thanks to Shawn!

awn ensure there was great music playing at all times (prelude, ceremony and reception) he really did an amazing job of ensuring everyone knew their part and was comfortable.
Shawn then took my wedding to an entire other level with all the service he has available. From dancing on the cloud, cake spot light, to uplighting and cold sparkles machine. This is just to name a few.
The most touching part of my day was that Shawn took my daughter and did a few run through a with her to hey he comfortable with performing a surprise song for us. She did great and was comfortable because of the time Shawn spent with her. Thanks!!!
At the end of the evening Shawn cleared the barn and allowed for me and my new husband to enjoy one final dance to the song “you are the reason” and this was the perfect close to the most epic evening ever.

for the night and anytime that I spoke with him it was very clear that this is his passion. I also rented the photobooth, if you are hesitant about getting one or not, DO IT. My guests keep talking about it and I have so many fun pictures. Devin assisted with the photobooth was also great and so patient (there were young kids at the wedding). Shawn created our monogram & logo for the DJ and photobooth which both came out amazing. I would also recommend 'Dancing on a Cloud'. It was a very last-minute addition to our reception and turned out beautiful! I would recommend Shawn and his company to anyone looking for a DJ.
Shawn did a fabulous job with our wedding! He was so thorough in our preparation and really understood what we were looking for. We highly recommend!

m before our wedding and we really enjoyed how thoughtful he was and how he wanted to be clear on all of our special details. The day of the event it did rain, but he seamlessly pivoted to not lose too much music time while also keeping his equipment save. He was a great personality and was the perfect DJ to mc and deliver the right music at the right time for our event. Kept our stress low and was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend.

nt to plan the pacing and details of the wedding. He has SO many songs for you to add to different lists. I appreciated his check in with me prior to the wedding where he reviewed in detail every little part of the wedding. He practiced pronouncing the names of the wedding party, and he made sure that we didn’t overlook any little detail! He kept people on the dance floor all night! We loved having him at our wedding, and I would recommend Subsonic DJs to any future bride!

We also booked the photo booth! Our guest loved it, highly recommend adding that too.

e it very convenient for us. If he did not have a song we wanted in his file, he found it. He provided mics and music during our ceremony which was clear and at a good volume. During the reception he provided up lighting and created a custom monogram. He kept the party going and played all the music I wanted. He was very flexible, and I would highly recommend!
Shawn was amazing!! He made sure to keep us on track. His process of getting everything together was awesome & easy. He played all the music we asked. Can’t thank him enough!!

s available for questions and to calm this mother of the bride's fears before and during the wedding! The fog thing that he does during the bride and groom's dance was a fantastic touch and made the pictures turn out great. He played nice pre wedding and dinner music, and then turned it UP for the reception! The guests danced all night and it was awesome. Shawn also even asked me what her colors were so that he could dress appropriately to match. He also provided microphones for the singers and worked with them before the wedding to make sure everything went just right. Such a great guy and I highly recommend him. Thank you, Shawn, for making our daughter's wedding so perfect.
Amazing DJ! :) I would recommend Shawn for any event! He had everyone on the dance floor. Thank you so much for helping make my wedding day so special :)

nd was willing to capture our overall wedding image. Since we had a destination wedding, I didn't get to meet Shawn in person until the day of the event, but it felt like I already knew him. He arrived early and had everything set up beautifully for the event. My husband and I love the show Parks and Recreation, and we wanted to enter to the theme song when walking into the reception. Shawn did a great job with this and everyone had a good time. We also have quite a bit of family who are OSU fans, and he had no problem playing the fight song as tribute to them at 8:30 when the game was supposed to start. I cannot speak highly enough of Shawn. He is fantastic to work with. Book him now!

one who would coordinate the major events for us. Shawn did an amazing job keeping everyone on the floor and everything organized! Everyone kept telling us how much fun our wedding was. His client website was so detailed and helpful as well. I was so lost in what a wedding timeline would even look like, but he had one made up already- down to the minute- on the client site for us. Shawn was also super friendly and accomodating. He got very sick the week before our wedding and still managed to keep in contact and show up for us! He is amazing and I recommend him for all of your dj needs.

y way to communicate. We were so impressed with his sound equipment, led screens, and the uplighting was incredible! He was able to provide music for our outside ceremony, cocktail hour space, and the reception. He had great ideas to make the night fun, personal, and memorable. He read our guests well and had them dancing all night. We were so happy with his work at an amazing price!

accommodating in every single way! I have a lot of German family that traveled down to be at our wedding, and I was able to send him multiple files of German music and he incorporated them perfectly into our night. I was also able to put together a photo montage that he played throughout the night which was beautiful because it had photos of people that were there, family and friends that couldn't make it and those who have passed. It was touching for a lot of people that watched it! Not to mention, over 95,000 other songs to chose from, as well as being able to personalize so much of the night on my own website portal. He was quick to either answer my emails, phone calls or text messages. I would by far recommend him to anyone in need of a fantastic DJ. He gave us some added surprises since our location was moved indoors due to weather, which was awesome. We hit the jackpot choosing SubSonic Event DJ's for our wedding. You will not be disappointed at all!
