Please don’t use this guy for your wedding or special event.
I booked Gilbert to DJ my wedding and attend my rehearsal. Everything seemed fine until about 13 days before my weddin...g, when I reached out to find out my remaining balance, when it was due, and what he needed from me. At that point, I had never met with him in person, completed any forms, or finalized any of the details.
I texted him Thursday — no response. I texted again Saturday — no response. Again Sunday — and finally received a response saying he had been busy and that I just needed to fill out a form.
Then, Tuesday night, just 10 days before my wedding, I received a message in a group chat with two other people stating that someone else would be DJing my wedding.
I asked if that DJ would also be attending my rehearsal. I was told no, and that someone else would attend and fill them in because “they have the Meta glasses,” so apparently everything would be fine.
The timing of my rehearsal was extremely important to me because we are using a car for our ceremony entrance, and I specifically wanted the same DJ who would be working my wedding to attend the rehearsal so they could understand the timing, cues, music, and exactly how everything was supposed to work.
I was told that if I wasn’t comfortable with the situation, I could receive a refund. I decided to take the night to think about it and discuss it with my fiancé.
The next morning, I asked Richard to call me. Instead, Gilbert called me. At that point, I didn’t want to speak with Gilbert because I was already extremely stressed about having this situation happen 10 days before my wedding, and I didn’t feel like he understood the seriousness of it.
During the conversation, Gilbert told me that it “didn’t matter” who did the rehearsal. He basically said they just had to press play, and if the timing was off, it would be because of my people or the car.
That was incredibly disappointing to hear. This wasn’t just about “pressing play.” This was my wedding ceremony, something we had planned carefully and something that mattered tremendously to me. The entire reason for the rehearsal was to make sure everyone — including the DJ — knew exactly what was happening and when.
After taking the day to consider my options, I decided to go with a different DJ who could commit to doing both my rehearsal and my wedding, as originally expected.
I contacted Gilbert and asked for the refund that he had offered multiple times. He didn’t respond. I eventually followed up to confirm that he had received my request, and instead of addressing the situation professionally, he told the other two people in the group chat to block me.
I understand that things can happen and plans can change. What I don’t understand is making a major change to someone’s wedding 10 days before the ceremony, after barely communicating, then minimizing their concerns when they are understandably stressed, and ultimately refusing to communicate professionally about a refund that was offered.
My wedding is one of the most important days of my life. I needed someone reliable, communicative, and committed to the details. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
If you are planning a wedding or important event, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
