l experience on the wedding day. We had an unexpected 45-minute delay, which understandably threw off the timing for food and bar service. However, once we finally sat down, the food placed at our sweetheart table was already cold. We also received our cake after the cake cutting, but it was taken away before we even had a chance to eat it. Several guests mentioned that when they briefly stepped away from their tables (even just to use the restroom), their plates were cleared as well. It would have been nice if the staff had checked before removing food, especially since the quality of the meal itself was actually quite good. As for the ambiance—this may have been more related to coordination with my planner—but it was disappointing to enter the venue to find all the overhead lights on despite us spending over $500 on candles and hurricanes for a soft, romantic atmosphere. We asked multiple times for the lights to be dimmed before eventually requesting they be turned off completely. I didn’t realize that would be something that needed repeated reminders. Later in the evening, after a medical emergency, we decided to end the DJ’s services early. Unfortunately, the DJ then told the bar staff to shut down—something completely outside of his authority. When I asked where the bartenders were going, they said the DJ had instructed them to close. Christine approached me (the bride) asking why I was upset that the bar was closing, and I explained that we had paid for bar service until a specific time and that the DJ should not have been directing them. This was especially surprising to us because my husband and I are both bartenders, and we would never shut down a bar because of instructions from someone who isn’t the manager or coordinator. On top of that, the bartenders weren’t making shots for anyone, so we ended up making our own—which became a funny moment, but definitely not ideal. Overall, the food quality was good and Christine herself was wonderful, but the execution on the day felt chaotic. If everything runs perfectly, I imagine the experience would be much smoother, but any hiccups seem to throw the service off more than expected.
