My wife and I were looking for a space to hold our small wedding and stumbled on 1858. As far as price goes, it's the best you can get for an event venue in Chicago. It's open and ...sunny with a stunning brick wall. The space is entirely customizable, which we both really liked and communication was easy. They even accommodated several walkthroughs for us throughout the process.
However, it is not a super expensive space and though it does come with things like tables and chairs, they are not necessarily the nicest tables and chairs. Which, if you're on a budget (like my wife and I were) doesn't particularly matter. And if you're not on a budget, they have rental companies they suggest you work with.
Also, my wife and I are an LGBTQ couple and had absolutely no trouble for that reason.
