r wedding cakes. This was great for us because we not only found a bakery who makes Italian buttercream but it was also a locally owned business which was important to us. Our tasting was not what we had expected in terms of ambiance and information but the cakes were delicious. We tried a chocolate with the Italian buttercream, a red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and a vanilla with American buttercream. We liked that Tanya gave us cupcakes instead of a slice of cake that could have been dried out. The vanilla cake was a bit dense for what we expected. When we asked about it, we were told it was a pound cake type cake which made perfect sense and definitely paired well with the sweetness of the American butter cream. The red velvet was moist and had a good balance for what a red velvet should have. The cream cheese frosting was a bit too sweet for my liking but paired well with the red velvet. The shining star was the chocolate cake and Italian buttercream frosting. The chocolate cake was perfect moist and fluffy and the Italian buttercream was some of the best I had ever had. We knew at that moment we would want that for our wedding cake. However, We were not 100% comfortable with signing a contract with this bakery at this point. We expected a little more personability which we did not receive. There were several times throughout the tasting that we had questions but no one was around to answer them. We did eventually get these questions answered. Tanya also seemed rushed when we were doing our tasting. But the cake was fantastic and exactly what we wanted; so we signed the contract. The decorations were simple and through emails I thought we were good to go on what we wanted and delivery time. Unfortunately, on the day of our vow renewal, the cake was not delivered at the agreed upon time. It was supposed to be delivered at 6pm and it was not delivered until 830 pm. The venue coordinator tried through numerous avenues to contact the bakery to no avail. When we sat down for dinner, we thought we would be cutting a cake that the venue made us as a backup. When the cake was delivered, they were very discreet. We did not know the cake had been delivered until we were walking towards the cake table to cut the back up cake. At this time, we do not know if our photographer was able to get pictures of this cake that cost $500 and none of our guests were able to get pictures. I would like to go to Tanya for all of my cake needs. She is talented, makes delicious cakes, and does amazing work but the business practices give me pause.

At the tasting, Tanya sat down to ask us about what our cake vision was and spoke of the details leading up to wedding day. We communicated through phone and email. She was quick with it & we loved that! I was sure to show her pictures of different cakes that we liked and disliked. Clearly, she knew what to do because our wedding cake turned out how we imagined it to look and taste. Beautifully delicious! If there were any accessories that we wanted the cake to have, we dropped it off at her bakery and she brought it all to the venue on wedding day. We had flowers on our cake, so a few days before the wedding, I made sure to tell my florist to leave loose flower petals at the venue to that Tanya can decorate the cake on site. This made it convenient and easier for everyone. I will continue to recommend Soul Cakes by Tanya to anyone in need of a delicious cake.. or cupcake!

y have ever had! Several guests also asked the servers for extra pieces of cake. Tanya understood our vision and brought it to life. We share our guests' enthusiasm regarding the cake. It was beautiful to look at and yummy to eat. We are so happy that she was a part of our special day.
