Simply Brilliant Events

g community. Her creative eye was incredibly helpful for making the many design decisions. On the day of the wedding, she handled all of the day-of logistics with grace, navigating last minute changes and ensuring we felt relaxed so we could enjoy our big day. I'd highly recommend Simply Brilliant to any friends or family planning weddings.

be our perfect match. Her confidence and large portfolio immediately put my mind at ease. I liked to think that I would have been able to plan our day, but as the planning really got going and our personal lives continued to get busier and busier, I knew there was no way I would have executed our day half as thorough as Nicola did. If I had a vision, she was able to help me bring it to life. Or, if I didn’t for something… I knew I could trust that she could bring it all together with a personalized approach. Simply Brilliant Events’ planning tool website was very easy to use and navigate. The checklist was SO helpful. There were several things on it that I would not have thought of. With getting married during the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year), we had to have several things ready before Christmas. I am so happy she expressed this deadline to me early in the planning process. We were able to enjoy the holidays with family and friends, stress-free. We even hosted Christmas for our out-of-town guests! The morning of the wedding, it was so nice to be hands off and let Nicola and her team turn our event space into the most elegant room I have EVER seen! I was able to stay relaxed and enjoy my time with my girls. Also, after a long day, having her team there to break down the venue and not having to put that on our family or bridal party was a huge bonus. Nicola truly took the reins on managing all aspects of our day, and I am so thankful for her. Her attention to detail left me in awe all throughout our wedding day and allowed me to really appreciate her eye for design. When catching up with family and friends who were at the wedding, and we begin talking about our wedding day, the thought-out details and coordination throughout the entire night are always complimented on. We are going to miss our chats and will be forever grateful to have had the pleasure of working with someone who made our wedding the talk of the family parties for years to come! I cannot recommend Nicola and her team enough. Simply Brilliant Events is worth every penny!

iple times to walk through each and every detail to ensure the design was planned to perfection. Not only did Nicola help us through every step of the design but the day of was executed to perfection. There was not a single hiccup because she was so on top of our timeline which included multiple buses to multiple hotels and an off-site church ceremony. Her team is professional, kind, and super energetic. She helped make my wedding the best day of all time and I couldn’t be more grateful! I could not recommend Nicola more highly. If you hire her, she will help make sense of what can be a stressful and overwhelming process and you’ll have a blast planning with her!

bout a thing! Thank you Nicola!

our wedding. Her attention to detail and organization were unparalleled, ensuring that our special day went off without a hitch. From finding the perfect venue to coordinating vendors and managing timelines, even when the timelines were unmanageable, she handled it all with professionalism and expertise. Her dedication and commitment to making our wedding day perfect were evident throughout the entire planning process. We are forever grateful for her expertise and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a top-notch wedding planner.

f wedding coordination. She set meetings, helped us through design choices, and coordinated communication with the vendors leading up to our wedding. Further, she went out of her way to do several site visits with different vendors to coordinate load-in and load-out ahead of the event. On the week of the event our historic venue lost access to their elevators due to a county-wide ransomware attack. Nicola managed to keep vendors on track, organized an extended timeline with the building to ensure a smooth load-in and load-out given the last-minute change of process, prepared and executed a speedy room flip, and reorganized some of the guest travel paths to ensure everyone was able to transition between the upstairs and downstairs in our venue with minimal delay. Though I am certain there were many hiccups on the day Nicola made those transparent to us. Her team kept us on track, helped our guests, and handled surprises gracefully. Nicola did an exceptional job leading up to the event, but her singular professionalism and dedication to quality set her apart in the heart of the chaos which she managed to transform into excitement, sparkle, and radiance for our guests and for us.

d and her kind personality. In 2023, we moved out of state from MI to NY. We were originally worried, as our wedding was going to be held in MI. Nicola assured us that she would be our main contact for anything that happened in-person while we were in New York, which we greatly appreciated. She helped us immensely during the 2 years of wedding planning - from scheduling virtual meetings that worked around our schedules, to finding vendors for us and setting up meetings with them, to attending in-person meetings for us when we couldn't fly back - she really did it all! We got married in early October and the day could not have run more smoothly. Nicola was on-site at our venue prior to other vendors arriving to make sure that everything was being set up properly. She also frequently checked in with me throughout the day and reassured me that everything would be amazing. Our wedding day was perfect and a big part of that was due to Nicola! We highly recommend hiring Nicola as your wedding planner. She is professional, personable, and easy to work with. She has numerous connections with vendors and has a lot of prior experience in the industry. We could not be more happy with our 2 years working with Nicola and her team!

team handling anything and everything that was needed! My mom and I needed a coordinator that would be on "our team" to help execute the vision we had for our wedding day. Within minutes of meeting Nicola we knew we had found that person. She met our attention to detail, love of the guest experience, and vision for a fun, stress-free wedding day immediately. We were drawn to her warm and caring nature with incredible attention to detail and she managed to exceeded our expectations every time we met! Nicola and her team bring new ideas, helpful suggestions, and a can-do attitude that made planning a joy.

so much fun! Nicola’s guidance and input were priceless! Enjoyed every minute!

went above and beyond.

ic counsel to us throughout the yearlong wedding planning process. During our first meeting, Nicola shared that she wanted us to have the freedom to be “guests at our own wedding”; now 1-month after the wedding, we reflect and say that she delivered that (and more)! We are a couple who both works full-time jobs in Los Angeles, CA (yes, three time zones away, too) but felt strongly about having a wedding in Detroit, MI. It is ‘home’ for part of our family and an exciting city that many of our guests from across the country had not ever had a chance to explore. Although the wedding and reception were important to us, we also felt a responsibility to showcase the best parts of Detroit, and Nicola helped us do that with her deep knowledge of the city, some of its most-talented vendors, and unique ways to incorporate it all together. As it happened, our wedding weekend occurred during the first ever NFL Draft in downtown Detroit and only two blocks away from our wedding venue, the Shinola Hotel. Although this introduced many “unknowns” to the planning process, we felt like there was nothing that we couldn’t navigate with Nicola’s planning and ensuring that our entire vendor team was on-track. The NFL Draft turned into a benefit for the wedding experience and our guests were able to enjoy the city and wedding weekend in a unique way. Throughout the wedding planning process, a couple will make many decisions of all kinds – big, small, mundane, and memorable. We thoroughly feel that working with Nicola was among the best decisions and investments that we made.

ll of the necessary tasks and introduced us to wonderful vendors. We loved her design suggestions and we were so pleased with how beautiful everything came out day of! The entire day went seamlessly and we were able to relax and enjoy! Thank you, Nicola and Simply Brilliant Events for an unforgettable wedding day.

e would love to have day of assistance for the wedding. Once we met Nicola, we also began planning a beautiful fully-catered welcome party for our guests the evening before our big day. Nicola juggled last minute coordination and time line planning with full execution of our welcome party and took an incredible amount of stress of our plates. She always made herself available whenever we needed and together, we met with florists, caterers, etc. She has fantastic relationships with vendors and can make any vision a reality. Thank you for everything you did to make our wedding weekend more magical and elegant than we could have dreamed!

r design. I love when we get to work together, because I know everything is going to go as planned, and clients are going to have an amazing wedding day experience. 10/10 recommend.

needed help vetting vendors, oversight of the wedding day, and overall what goes into planning such a special event. Nicola was recommended by everyone we talked to and on several websites for vendors we looked at when we were first coming up with ideas for our wedding. She is very understanding of everyone's unique situation and knows how to capture your aesthetic beautifully. She has this way of making all your wants come true and is impeccable at finding alternatives if needed or desired. We had nontraditional ceremony seating, asking Nicola to replicate this from an image we had. Although, difficult to find, she came through, and it was one of the things our guests enjoyed the most! Our venue is a work of art itself and she knew how to accent it breathtakingly as well as being aware of the intricate planning details that go into an event in such a special location. The day went as planned and was as magical and enchanting as we could have hoped! When you want a very streamlined wedding planning experience, Nicola is the one! Thank you for making our wedding day one we will cherish for a lifetime!

ver 7 years and knew the industry and vendors well. I also knew exactly how much work goes into planning a successful event and made the decision early to hire with a full-service wedding planner. We met with Nicola first and fell in love. We found ourselves comparing every other planner we met to her. We set our (original) date for July 2020 and Nicola worked diligently with us to find and secure all the right vendors. She was incredibly knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and thorough. She was also very calm. Any time we got overwhelmed (which was a lot), she put us at ease. She was exceedingly patient as she helped us make each and every decision. (I think I looked at over 100 different linen options and she held my hand through my crippling indecision over tablecloths. Haha!) Best of all, she truly listened to us. We never felt like she was pushing her opinions on us or trying to steer us towards her tastes. We felt really supported in our vision of what we wanted our wedding to be. As our original date fell in 2020, we had to cancel and reschedule twice due to the pandemic. Nicola helped us navigate those postponements flawlessly. She coordinated with every vendor and secured them for new dates. She helped us work through contract changes and price increases. Each time we had to take our wedding apart, she helped us put it right back together. One month out from our rescheduled wedding date, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. We were understandably terrified and reeling from the unexpected news. In shock and feeling terrible that we had postponed twice already, we at first tried to keep planning and move ahead with the wedding. During a meeting to finalize our menu, Nicola stayed after to talk to us and helped us make the decision to cancel. She really made us feel like everything would be okay and that we didn’t need to worry about anything but my health and treatment. It seems like the obvious choice looking back, but at the time, we felt a massive sense of relief. We left that meeting and my fiancé said, ‘Hiring her was the best decision we ever made. That one meeting was worth everything we paid her.’ From there, she handled all the communication with our vendors and managed every piece. We didn’t have to do a single thing. Throughout my surgery and recovery, she checked in regularly to see how we were doing. She was simply wonderful and I truly don’t know what we’d have done without her. When we were finally (and thankfully) in a place to reschedule, Nicola helped us re-plan every detail. She handled everything and quelled all my anxieties as we got closer to the day. Turns out, I didn’t need to worry. The wedding was absolutely flawless from start to finish. We waited a very long time for that day and it exceeded all our expectations. We literally owe it all to Nicola and her team. We’re forever grateful.

ed... all the things we were looking for! She has both great ideas and executes. She listens to what you want and makes it happen. From running my rehearsal with efficiency and patience to coordinating all the vendors and activities on my wedding day (including requesting replacement linens day of when two were delivered stained and I never knew of it), she is a prefect blend of creative thinker and project manager. I couldn't have imagined my wedding planning and day experience without her (and her lovely assistant, Sydney!)

an be really stressful, especially in pandemic times, and having someone like Nicola in your corner supporting you makes a world of difference. Nicola took all of our half-baked ideas/random things we liked, turned that into a cohesive vision, and made our wedding dreams come true. She elevated our wedding to a level I never even imagined and we are so grateful for her and the Simply Brilliant Events Team!

happen! It was like she literally took my vision out of my head and made it possible. We opted for full-service planning, which I recommend to anyone; it takes a lot of the pressure off, especially since we had to change our date due to the pandemic. Nicola is the best of the best and showed us nothing but professionalism the entire time. My husband and I keep saying; there is nothing we would change about the day, and Nicola was excellent! If you are looking for a planner, Nicola is your woman!

t EXACTLY to plan.

n and found top quality vendors that made our vision come to life. I did not have to worry about anything with Nicola on our team. We had a floral emergency 48 hours prior to our wedding that she handled with ease which helped calm our nerves. On the day of, she made sure everything went smooth. I was able to enjoy my day completely unbothered and stress free. I cannot recommend Nicola and her team at Simply Brilliant Events enough! Best decision we made.

he ground in Michigan. After several days of research and talking to numerous wedding planners, I landed on Simply Brilliant Events. Nicola was very pleasant and professional in answering all our questions. We booked her services a year in advance of our wedding date. She sourced and recommended several vendors and arranged calls with those whom fit within our vision and budget. It was also very important to us that our wedding planner be available outside the normal business hours because of our hectic work schedules. When needed, Nicola made herself available and we very much appreciated it. She was very patient with us in our decision-making process. The wedding itself was a dream come true, all my thoughts and design ideas came together with the help of Nicola and her team. Thank you again Nicola for making my dream wedding come true!

r. Her experience saved us so much time that we would have wasted. Her network in the industry opened the door to a wonderful venue for our reception, Highlands. And as our relationship deepened, we became even better collaborators - for example, after a disappointing test lay up with our first choice of linens, she patiently stayed on Zoom with us to comb through all of the options and choose a color together that none of us would have been brave enough to select alone. She connected us to vendors who were friendly, talented, and professional. The online tool she gave us access to, Aisle Planner, made planning and tracking our guest list easy. And most importantly, she tended to the needs of the Bride, and allowed her to feel relaxed, both leading up to, an on the big day. Nicola, thank you for everything!

ve her guidance and knowledge of the Detroit wedding industry. The day of our wedding ran so smoothly and we did not have to worry about a thing - it was wonderful to have someone that we trusted and had a great working relationship with all of our vendors. We cannot thank Nicola enough!

or Nicola and Simply Brilliant Events and immediately knew we needed her expertise and vision. That was the 2nd best decision I made for our wedding (first obviously was saying yes to the man of my dreams 😉). When I walked into Ford Piquette Plant the day of our wedding her masterpiece was more than I would have ever been able to dream up!!! She took what little we had in mind and gave us the wedding we will never forget. This is only one part of everything that Nicola did for us. We were a 5-time delayed wedding due to covid. We never stressed once about the delays because Nicola was always on top of it, and we had the upmost trust in her. Finally, if you are like us and have 5 kids under the age of 9 in your wedding, you will want Nicola. She was brilliant with the kiddos! She had them in line, less “embarrassed” as one of my nephews put it, and enjoying the moment of being in their first wedding. We will always be grateful for Nicola and her amazing team and will have the best memories from our special day because of her. There aren't enough stars in the world to rate what a wonderful person and coordinator Nicola is!!!!

excited to plan and share a beautiful celebration with friends and family. Our fabulous wedding planner Nicola Wilson was there to dot the i's and cross the t's, Nicola is calm, organized, knowledgeable and creative. She helped keep us on track and had a great working relationship with all of the vendors we worked with. Her suggestions and ideas were top tier. She was flexible and very easy and fun to work with. The wedding went off without a hitch and got rave reviews from the guests. We strongly recommend that you hire a wedding coordinator and Nicola is who we recommend.

together a "plan B" that what still magical. Nicola was supportive and a helpful thought partner every step of the way, and Genevieve was there on the day of the wedding to coordinate and adjust to all of the last minute COVID curve balls (like redoing the seating chart on the day of the wedding!) Thank you for all of your support.

erns. I was able to do completely relax and enjoy. She helped us get access to venues others couldn’t get responses from, pick the most amazing vendors, and overall made the wedding planning process a breeze and made me feel comfortable even when asking ridiculous questions. And she helped us re plan everything we had to delay a year because of Covid. I will recommend Nicola to anyone looking for a planner!!

nning process. We had an intimate outdoor ceremony followed by a clear top tent reception that was under the stars. Super romantic and elegant. She completely took our vision and brought it to life! She is someone who is very talented that I would recommend to every couple! We now consider her part of our family <3

the hard work Genavieve put into my wedding. From first talking with her, she was able to bring me to ease and was able to enjoy the process much more! The Simply Brilliant Events planning page is also thoroughly organized and so up to date with technology, it kept me organized and it was so nice to have a planning site to fill in tables and seating charts, all which was readily available to the wedding coordinator. Genavieve was also ready at any given time and responded to texts promptly. I truly wish I could give her more star rating. Genavieve was also able to speak with my vendors, something I was nervous about coordinating myself. She even took the time out of the wedding day to stop by the hotel where we were getting ready at to check in, and with a smiling face. Her energy was amazing! Lauren was her assistant for the day, and she was amazing as well. I could not say enough amazing things about them :)

hought about. She has great connections all around the Detroit area and always made time to meet with us whenever we needed to. How lucky we were to have Nicola and her team!

my random questions without hesitation and helped make finalizing my wedding a breeze!! I entrusted her on the one of the most important days of my life and you should too!

d formal venue and instead had a beautiful backyard wedding on our property--she completely transformed our property into a beautiful venue. Nicola has the best connections and will do everything in her power to make sure you have a perfect day. I did not want to be super involved with the details of the wedding--I was exhausted from planning and replanning the first two so I brought Nicola on full time (from part time) and she was absolutely amazing. I did not have to worry about any wedding detail. She has a great relationship with multiple local vendors which comes in handy! She found us as AMAZING cater company to accommodate our guests and the food was excellent. The design of the wedding was perfect and I owe it all to her! I highly recommend her and her staff to anyone who is planning their day--big or small or any kind of budget she will get it done for you. Thanks again Nicola! <3 Love--Steve and Amber O'Shell

ly understand how to achieve not only the look, but the feeling you’re trying to create. They think of everything and will fix any issues that arise before the couple ever finds out about it. We literally wouldn’t have been able to get married without Genavieve as she brought us our marriage license JUST in time for the ceremony.

hrough it all. Our special day was perfect. Nicola took care of everything and we got to fully enjoy our day without any stress. She has so much experience and she knows the best vendors to work with! Highly recommend Nicola to anyone, we will miss working with her SO much!

ecuring her became an even bigger blessing as a canceled wedding turned into a DIY backyard tent reception (due to COVID-19). As anyone who’s had a tent wedding will know, it is a huge undertaking. There are so many details to consider and plan for and Nicola thought of them all. She was a HUGE help in creating a timeline, coordinating with our vendors, making sure every detail was covered and so much more. We had endless emails back and forth along with phone conversations and in person meetings so that she could make sure our vision was brought to life. No stone was left unturned. She worked tirelessly the day of our wedding to set up the most beautiful ceremony and reception that went above and beyond our expectations! Not to mention the day went extremely smooth, our families and us were able to relax and enjoy the day while Nicola and her assistant made sure the rest was taken care of. There were issues that arose the day of our wedding that I had no idea about until the next day. I would highly recommend Nicola, she is kind, professional and experienced. Hiring her allowed us to enjoy the day we had waited so long for!

like no other and I highly recommend her. Mother of the bride

o many couples in 2020, were affected by the pandemic and postponed our wedding several times before deciding to get married in September 2020. I truly believe we were able to weather the pandemic wedding planning whiplash because we had Nicola on our team. She frequently communicated wedding trends and suggestions, which were so helpful. Our intimate wedding of 30 was at the Whitney in Detroit and was planned in roughly 4 weeks. I couldn't be happier with Nicola and her services. She helped us set up our reception details and at the last minute picked up our wedding cake! We are so thankful for her help. Our day was calm and stress free because of her, which allowed us to focus on our celebration and starting our lives together. This was so important because it took a lot to get to our wedding date due to the pandemic!  If you're looking for a very professional and personable wedding planner with excellent connections in the wedding industry, run, don't walk, and book Nicola for your special day. We're having a larger reception next year and are super excited to work with her again.

recommend simply brilliant events!

and make sure we were not missing anything important during the planning process, but especially to have someone who could be there the day of the wedding to make sure that we would be able to relax, and that no family members had to stress out over helping us instead of just enjoying our day with us. During the process, Nicola was very organized and professional, and was very accepting that we did not need her full services. But she did provide us with an excellent timeline of where we should be during the planning process, as well as provided us with solid vendor recommendations. Was also more difficult because one of us was organizing the wedding from long distance, and we very much appreciated her help in supporting our local family in accomplishing all our goals. Our wedding turned out flawlessly and we owe part of her to her organization and mindfulness. On the day of the wedding, she did an excellent job in making sure things went smoothly and that everything progressed on time, and worked well with our families and our reception venue coordinator.

g up to the wedding. She made sure that everything was handled prior to the wedding, and used her connections to ensure that all my vendors were on schedule and providing everything we we needed. I don't know what I would have done without her and her staff!

focus on enjoying the time leading up to the wedding! Hiring her was one of the best decisions I made in wedding planning.

and her team put together the most incredible wedding we could have even tried to imagine! The both of us had very little vision or understanding of what we wanted and how we wanted to accomplish it, but Nicola was so patient with us, and always gently guided us to make more thoughtful and informed decisions. She came with us to just about every vendor meeting to make sure the right questions were asked and everything was properly aligned. She genuinely went above and beyond and for that we are so grateful! The wedding itself was absolutely incredible! Nicola and her team created both a visually stunning wedding that also operated so smoothly and seamlessly. When I saw the final look come together, I genuinely could not believe that this was our wedding. Genavieve was amazing as well! The day of, she was so kind when it came to guiding all of our guests and always seemed to appear at the exact moment I needed anything at all. Looking back, I cannot count how many people approached us afterwards and told us that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. I cannot recommend Simply Brilliant Events enough!!
