We used Sifi for both lighting and DJ for our wedding. We saw some signs in the beginning that were a bit concerning, but we were hopefully optimistic. Unfortunately, by the end of... our wedding we were very disappointed.
After we paid the deposit and signed the contract, there were two occasions where we emailed Sifi asking questions and got no response. We were also assigned our DJ 3 weeks out from our wedding date. Our first and only meeting with our DJ was the week of our wedding. In retrospect, we wish we would’ve chosen a company that would have allowed us to choose our own DJ or get connected with one earlier.
Even though we only had one meeting, we filled out a detailed questionnaire beforehand and ran through the schedule with the DJ and talked through every event and song that needed to be played, including exact timestamps.
On the day of the wedding, our DJ made multiple mistakes, but here are a few. Some were minor and totally understandable such as getting loud mic feedback or being a few seconds late to the cue for our ceremony exit song. Other mistakes were more impactful such as playing the wrong timestamp for our reception entrance song or not having the father-daughter dance song downloaded (which the groom had to resend from his phone minutes before reception started). The worst mistake of them all, which they did apologize for later, was the conscious decision on the dance floor to not play our three agreed upon “must play” songs (which had choreographed dances) and instead to continue to play songs that were not even on our dancefloor playlist we submitted. Knowing there was only five minutes until ending, the groom had to go up to the DJ and ask why they were not playing the "must play" songs. Fortunately, the DJ was able to get a 15-minute extension to the night (which the venue and other vendors agreed to). However, for the must play songs, the DJ did not play the edited track that was submitted for one of the songs and played the wrong time stamp for another song (once again).
We want to have grace and understand a mistake or two, but it was disheartening to see how many mistakes were made, many of which flustered the bride, groom, and wedding party. We wanted to feel like guests at our wedding, but the mistakes made us feel like we needed to be hosts and step in to correct mistakes, which unfortunately will always be a negative memory when we look back at our wedding. We were also disappointed in feedback we received from some friends and family of the DJ’s behavior in brief interactions they had with the DJ. We also feel let down by the system at Sifi as a whole, as we felt neglected by their lack of responsiveness and lateness in assigning us our DJ.
For lighting, we enjoyed the effects of the uplights. We also got a free upgrade to a nicer photobooth set up which was appreciated.
Overall, we would not recommend Sifi to couples looking for a DJ, but we hope our feedback is considered and changes can be made for the better.
