Shane Godfrey Photography

alleries stood out amongst the rest for their composition -- he frames his photos beautifully. (I later learned that he teaches photography -- no wonder that his photos are works of art!) But most of all, we loved that he captured the joy and energy of the weddings in his photos -- and he certainly did that for our wedding . It was my goal to be grounded and present on my wedding day and to soak up every moment -- Shane helped make this possible by prioritizing candid shots and blending into the background where he could. For example, for the getting ready shots, he had an unassuming presence which allowed us to forget he was even there (that's his aim!) and just be in the moment! For this reason, our photos are authentic and we love that. There have been weddings that I've been to where the photographer is in the middle of the aisle and in the bride and grooms faces during the wedding and I find that really frustrating as a guest and I didn't want that on my wedding day. Shane managed to capture beautiful up-close pictures of my ceremony without me noticing him but once. My mom from the guest's perspective also shared how impressed she was that Shane was able to take photos without getting in the way of the guests' view. Further, Shane's calm, steady, upbeat demeanor helped set the tone for the long stretch from getting ready to the ceremony. We are so grateful that Shane photographed our wedding. Thank you, Shane!

that we didn't want to spend a ton of time taking photos because we wanted to actually attend our own wedding and he interpreted that EXACTLY the right way and made sure that we got all of the formal portraits out of the way before the ceremony and that we spent the minimum time possible on couple's photos later in the evening. He got great candid photos of the bridal party and as far as I can tell all of the guests have great photos of them having a good time, I don't know how he achieved that but it is great to have so many good pictures of everyone we care about. He also had prior experience at our venue so he knew exactly what the best shots and locations were, it made the whole process very smooth.

on the property we needed them to in order to get the photos we wanted. I provided Shane with specific pictures I wanted to recreate and throughout the day he made sure to get all of those and more. I could not recommend him enough!

e two felt like we were with some new incredibly talented and fun friends.

midating for a camera shy couple :) Doing our engagement photos with him was so helpful to get to know how he worked and be a bit more comfortable around him. Shane asked us great questions in the planning meetings to help us figure out our priorities and plan for the day. He was super responsive and professional with answering our questions too. He and Meg approached the whole day with a fun, easy-going attitude, but still kept us on track with time and got all of our 'required shots' throughout the day. They work so well together and I think the whole wedding party was at ease around them and able to be themselves!

g and had never done anything like that before, especially in public. Shane immediately put us at ease, knew the best way to pose us at different locations, and worked the light perfectly over the hour as it changed from somewhat cloudy to a brilliant sunset. The engagement photos came out fantastic! On the day of the wedding, Shane and Meg captured a great combination of detail shots, classic "wedding portrait" shots, and candid expressive pictures that really bring us back to the moment in time. We were slightly worried about our venue's somewhat low light (Boston Waterworks Museum) during a rainy evening causing the technical quality of the photos to be less than ideal, but we were very pleasantly surprised by how they turned out both in print and digitally. The completed wedding set (~1000 images) were edited and turned around in about 3 weeks for our June wedding, which we were honestly shocked by. We have received so many compliments on the finished images from friends and family! Thanks Shane and Meg!

photos of us, made us feel comfortable, and captured our day perfectly!

o easy. From our engagement shoot to our wedding day, Shane made sure we had amazing photos, hit all of the items on our shotlist, and kept it fun all while staying ahead of our tight timeline. After being in several weddings, it is clear that Shane is a veteran and makes sure that pictures are not a delay in the timeline. I could not recommend Shane enough!

erns we had before and on our wedding day. His laid back energy helped us stay relaxed on our wedding day, even with rain! Shane finished our wedding album and was able to send it to us within a few weeks of the wedding. The pictures were AMAZING! we were so happy with how they came out and can't wait to get prints made!

in front of the camera and was an absolute pleasure on the wedding day. Even when we were stressed or running behind schedule, he had a very chilled demeaner and even helped us out with various boutonnieres! He is very experienced with everything day-of and it was great to have him directing all aspects of the photos! It rained on our wedding day and not just a light drizzle but a downpour and he managed to still get lovely photos outside (under an umbrella with me holding my dress up!). All of our photos came out so stunning and everything looks so natural and candid. Could not recommend more :) Thanks Shane!!

and knowledge allowed him to answer every question and assuage every concern in the blink of an eye. He was receptive to what we felt were our most important moments and offered guidance from his vast experience that was always spot-on. On the wedding day, he was such a joy to be around! He was unobtrusive but also helped keep everything on track, he was always ready and willing to help make little adjustments to make everything perfect, and he brought such a calm and positive energy to the day! The finished photos were delivered right on time (and he was super responsive to a request to get the photos in time for my birthday!) and his work was absolutely STUNNING. We love >95% of the photos of us, where on a typical day I hate most photos! We could not be happier with the finished products and the experience of working with Shane.

ding and easy to work with during the process. What can you expect in terms of photographs? Shane is amazing at finding the perfect lighting and capturing beautiful candids. Day-of, Shane is a calming presence (so needed on your wedding day!), organized, and professional. We had the talented team of Shane, Meg, and an intern photograph our wedding day. We can't wait to put together our album, it will be difficult choosing favorites!

rying to reschedule twice, and then jumped on board to accommodate us super last minute when we decided to elope. Not only is he a great photographer, but he is a professional willing to get his hands dirty. He quite literally has carried my high heels around a museum, bustled my wedding gown on a busy sidewalk, and popped champagne for us on a boat. He's personable and makes you feel comfortable no matter what the situation. Thank you, Shane, for being a part of and capturing such important life moments with us!

ch one of my requests. Shane and Meg captured our day beautifully. Our photos took our breath away and we cannot stop looking at them! The true emotions of the day come through the photos and he did not miss anything! thank you so much for all of our beautiful photos that will allow us to remember our wedding day forever. We cannot wait to share our photos with all of our friends and family!

phy. His direction on our wedding day helped us maintain our sanity, our ease and our sense of humor, all leading to us having an incredibly enjoyable wedding experience. He and his partner Meg managed to be unobtrusive while also providing super helpful guidance when we needed it. Shane captures the feelings of your wedding day; we loved how our photos reflected our authentic joy, and didn't feel stiff or formal as wedding photos can sometimes appear. We highly recommend hiring Shane for a professional, enjoyable wedding photography experience!

o comfortable! I also love that everything isn’t staged, rather the pictures capture everyone in their natural state. Our photos came out beautiful and I enjoy looking through them over and over again! They covered everything that day, they didn’t skip a beat! I especially am thankful for the troop they made to shoot our special day! I recommend Shane and Meg to all! You will be in good hands throughout the entire process!!!!

te (the venue was the Harvard Art Museum and we were no longer living in Boston at the time), we were very much hoping to meet up with Shane and walk around the venue together to hear his / as well as share our thoughts. He was tremendously accommodating with the timing constraints of our visit and we had an amazing time walking around both venues the events were held in (A. Busch Hall and the Harvard Art Museum). On the day of our wedding, Shane and his assistant, Meg, were a tag-team-duo that rivaled Batman and Robin! They were perfectly in sync and captured both the moments and the emotions of the day! Shane is a true artist and captured a very unique and special print using his Wista field camera that we absolutely adore! We cannot recommend Shane with any higher praise; he is amazingly understanding, attentive, kind, super resourceful and a truly astounding photographer!

he big day. He and his team blended seamlessly into all the major events and really captured the moments as we wanted them to be. The end product he put together was just what we wanted and will be a permanent reminder to us and our families of the greatest day of lives. I would gladly recommend Shane Godfrey Photography to my friends and family in the future. Home run!

nline. He seemed to capture not only the just the event and the attendants, but the emotion behind what was going on. When we had our meeting, he showed us sample books of his work, wedding albums he had done and gave us access to an online photo collection from a previous wedding (which also gave us insight into what we would receive after our wedding). He emphasized that his goal was to illustrate the spirit of the couple and guests and that he typically worked on a loose plan of what photos he would take and work off what stood out to him the day of. That aligned perfectly with what we were looking for, as we did not want lots of planned shots or intend to work off a shot list. We loved how he even his posed photos looked natural, and the fact that he relied heavily on capturing candid moments, somehow managing to always make the people in them look good (which really takes some artistic genius). He works with a second photographer (her name was Meg and she also is incredibly talented), which was great on the wedding day because they were able to take “getting ready” photos of both of us (and our wedding parties) and also capture moments from the whole event from multiple angles. Around sunset Shane came up to us to let us know that it would be the perfect time to take some shots in the field near the barn. These “golden hour” shots are unbelievable gorgeous and definitely some of our favorites from the night. Yet, it’s hard to pick favorites when everything was captured so perfectly. Shane told us that between he and Meg they typically take around 7,000 - 8,000 photographs throughout the night and then send you 500 - 1,000; which shows you how hard they work both during the event and afterward. We are now selecting which photos to use in the wedding album that we ordered from him, and you know that a photographer must have done an amazing job when even your “narrowed down” list is more than double what an album can actually fit. Shane captured every moment that we wanted during our wedding, and so much more. We will look back at these photos for the rest of our lives and could not be happier with the way they came out. You will be making a wonderful decision if you decide to use him for your wedding!

018 wedding. I was impressed by Shane's work and his excellent reviews, and after a few conversations, I booked him for our day. We had been in contact about a few things throughout the winter, and then in the spring, we worked on scheduling engagement photos. Right before our scheduled engagement shoot in May 2018... Shane emails me and tells me he "accidentally double-booked" my wedding date and would no longer be able to photograph my wedding. We all know how hard it is to find a reputable and professional photographer, as they book up to years in advance, and this was 5 mere months from my wedding. I was absolutely floored by Shane's email, and am still shocked as to how unprofessional the whole thing was. His email said he "changed booking systems" and his prior client didn't transfer over to his new system. 1) it's 2018, technology has come too far to create these issues; 2) it's your job to photograph client's events, and they all come with legal contracts. There is absolutely no excuse for missing an event on your calendar due to a "system glitch". Go through your contracts when you change systems, and ensure you have everything captured. I emailed Shane back and let him know I was dissapointed, and also how unprofessional his email was. As a booked client, I deserved a personal phone call and apology for him to own his mistake. His email said "this has never happened to me before" - it didn't happen to HIM, it happend to effect OTHERS. I also let him know how unprofessional it was to not offer compensation of some kind - such as a comped engagement session, etc. He had only suggested 1 photographer as a replacement for me, which still left me with a ton of research to do. He emailed me back after my reply (again no call, even though I asked for one) and said he felt too guilty to call me, which I found very unprofessional. He said he would comp an engagement session with his old intern. We ended up doing the free session, and she was great to work with, but not right for our wedding. We still had to search for another photographer, and Shane did not put in that much effort to help us out with that. My mother was so floored by it all, she called him, and THEN he suggested 4 other photographers. It was all so unprofessional, and I just felt the need to share this experience with others. I cannot speak to Shane's actual photography - I'm sure it's beautiful. However as a bride, you want to ensure your vendors are there for you 100% on your day, and this really showed me that he was not necessarily 100% there for all his clients. Imagine if he hadn't caught his mistake until later on in the summer! Hopefully he will learn from this moving forward, and I hope nobody experiences this as well. I mean no harm to Shane or his business, but I still feel sick reliving this whole exchange, and that's why I feel the need to share.

I honestly felt like I didn't have anything to do besides enjoy myself, as Meg kept things running smoothly and was capturing every moment. Could not recommend more highly!

ere worried that we made for a really unfortunate combination of pickiness and awkwardness. Fortunately, we found Shane, and knew right away that we were in great hands. There’s something about his personality and Meg’s that put both me and my husband (and, later, our families and the entire wedding party) immediately at ease, and which I’m confident made for much, much better pictures of our big day than we otherwise would have been able to take. Both of them were laid back and unobtrusive, but also a lot of fun – and, as if that weren’t enough, they were HUGE value adds in a lot of unexpected little ways that turned out to be totally clutch (e.g., Shane helped carry my train between locations, shielded me from my husband’s view so that the first look wasn’t ruined, and literally gave me the jacket off his back when the weather turned uncharacteristically chilly during outdoor photos). The photos themselves turned out to be absolutely stunning—we have received so many compliments on them, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with each and every one. I cannot possibly recommend Shane and Meg highly enough, and would work with them again in a heartbeat given any excuse to do so.

re my hair was in place, to holding my veil and dress while also somehow balancing all his equipment, Shane was prepared for anything the day brought on. He quickly improvised when the weather outside was below zero and there wasn’t much hope for us to get pictures outside – instead we used the beautiful venue as background and the photos came out amazing – without the frost bite! He made sure we got the best possible photos of our day, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Not to mention, he and his wife are amazingly kind and made us feel so comfortable and at ease. I would give my highest recommendation to anyone considering working with Shane.

feel like I had to worry about anything with the photos. Additionally, they were very efficient, which allowed us to enjoy as much of the cocktail hour and reception as possible. Cannot recommend them enough.

period and seemed genuinely excited to be taking photographs during the reception. Shane really is a win in both photography skills and personality. I also think he does a great job in mixing candids and staged group photos and such. He also had some amazing portraits. I would highly recommend Shane to anyone!

able to capture the most stunning photos of our day and we couldn't be happier!

mony and reception (which were a bit of a drive from each other, so I had some concerns about whether it would all work out). His good-natured personality, professionalism, and wedding expertise allowed us to have a relaxed, stress-free wedding day, with the comfort of knowing that we would get all of the photos we needed, and stay on-schedule. (He even ended up putting on my veil, when no one else could figure out the best placement for it!) We absolutely love how all of our photos turned out, and we couldn't be happier with our choice of him as our wedding photographer!

azed. These photos are our one professional keepsake from our day (no videographer – we had friends GoPro it) and we really feel like the photos represent every step of the day so well, even in ways we didn’t see when we were experiencing the day. Working with Shane and Meg in the moment, it goes so quickly and easily; and afterwards when we saw the images, we couldn’t be happier. Elegant, true, our best selves. And the essence of so many of our guests were captured the same way, which we really treasure. I was thankful that even though Shane shines in journalistic photography, the bridal party and family photographs that were important to us had just as much love. Shane and Meg gave a calm, experienced, and understanding vibe to anything that came our way – we highly recommend Shane Godfrey Photography!

reception. He made the whole process easy. The two of them make sure you look perfect in your shot, I'm talking bustle fixing, to make up and hair adjustments. You can trust that they will do an amazing job because they actually care about making it perfect. I would use them for an other events I have. 5 stars, and forever grateful.

best shots at our venue and created a real mystique in the photos that is exactly what you think of when you think of professional wedding photos. He and his assistant were incredibly personable and allowed us to relax on what was definitely a sort of stressful day. My bride and I have very different skin tones and he was able to balance those along with the various colors at our wedding venue to create a very enchanting environment. It had been raining most of the day which we thought would make pictures difficult, but it really worked out and the pictures actually came out better than we could have imagined. If you are looking for a professional and personally engaging photographer who will be extremely easy to work with I would recommend Shane Godfrey Photography.

, and even spent 15 mins helping figure out my bustle on my dress!!! Shane was also very responsive to me and helpful throughout the whole booking process. We highly recommend him!!! :D

and laid-back demeanor made it easy to trust him with everything and feel relaxed in front of the camera . The day was completely stress free and we owe that in part to Shane. We could not be more thrilled with the process and how the photos turned out. Thank you Shane!!!

t the Boston Garden. He and his assistant Meg were tremendous. We have never been great at taking pictures, but he made it as easy as possible while also producing some of the best results we have ever seen. I also love his signature picture from his older camera. Everything about Shane was first class. I would recommend him to anyone needing a right man at their wedding.

were evident throughout the entire day. Even though our venue was on the smaller side, we were impressed by all of the compositional framings he found. He captured so many perfect moments of our friends and family. We could not be happier with the results!

helped our big day go smoothly! Our 8 x 10 photograph will be cherished forever and is really special! Shane & Megan felt like guests at our wedding, worked extremely hard for us in calm and laid back fashion, were very easy to communicate with, and we would highly recommend them!

a dream to work with from the beginning and blended seamlessly into our wedding to capture moments I thought for sure would only live in my memory. I've already spent hours reliving our wedding though our online album and know we will continue to love these pictures throughout our marriage. We can't wait to have another reason to hire Shane Godfrey Photography!! Thank you Shane and Meg xx

nd perfectly lit, Shane was a pleasure to work with throughout the whole process. His attitude is laid back and friendly but very professional, and he was truly a "jack of all trades" on the wedding day, fixing veils and helping everything go as smoothly as possible. (We also had Shane do our engagement pictures about 10 months before the wedding too, and it was great to start getting to know him then!) He was a completely stress-free experience throughout the whole process, and the pictures are modern and breathtaking. Book him immediately if you can get him!

n tone that resulted in a stress free experience. Shane is incredibly prepared and professional in absolutely every regard - he even pinned on some boutonnieres! The result: 1000 absolutely flawless pictures capturing the spirit of our wedding day so acutely that looking over each image truly feels like you're living that moment all over again. Thank you, Shane!

his partner Meg were just outstanding. We loved his photojournalistic style after coming across his portfolio online, and as soon as we met it was obvious to me that he should be our photographer. Shane is friendly and easygoing but extremely professional as well. He was always easy to get in touch with when needed. The day of the wedding he and Meg just did their thing with no fuss. Showed up where and when they were supposed to, were even helpful with non -photo related things and keeping the day on schedule. My husband and I usually hate having photos taken but it they made it very comfortable. They actually felt more like fun friends at the wedding rather than photographers! They were so kind to everyone. I had many glowing comments from guests about Shane and Meg afterwards, too. And the best part? Our photos are breathtaking! Shane and Meg got all the requisite ceremony/bridal party/family pics but my favorites are all the little candid moments they captured with ourselves and our guests. I can look through the photos and I actually feel like I'm at the wedding again. I feel silly but i cant stop looking at them :) We really treasure our photos. I can't recommend Shane Godfrey photography highly enough. Book them now - it will be the best decision you make! Thanks Shane and Meg!!

e, and handled the crowd and larger group photos beautifully at our wedding. He captures such beautiful candid and formal moments, and, as the bride, kept me very calm the day of! I can't say enough positive things about Shane and Meg, and I hope they realize they're stuck with us for life, whenever we need a photographer! :) I strongly recommend using him, you will be SO happy with the results!

sts said this, across the board, before they’d even seen the images that Shane captured—I think that really speaks to what a nice presence that he has, and how comfortable he makes his photo subjects. When we were looking for a photographer, Shane’s photo portfolio stood out in terms of the sheer beauty of the images. He had all the qualities that we were hoping for—a really great facility with candid, portrait-like shots of guests and loved ones, an eye for natural landscapes and an ability to use light well, and he seemed to have zero interest in taking any cheesy or overly-posed shots. (No frozen/mid-air jumps, etc.) We had Shane take our engagement photos, as well as our wedding photos, and he was incredibly pleasant to work with—he was very friendly, laid-back, conversational, and had a terrific sense of humor. We felt comfortable with him from moment one, and confident that he was going to do a terrific job. All of our guests and bridal party members echoed that (resoundingly) after the wedding itself. I’ve heard so much positive feedback about how great Shane’s interactions were with our guests, and how he was very present—but very unobtrusive. The actual results from both of our photo sessions are just beautiful. We had an engagement session down in the Boston Public Garden, and our wedding was out at a botanical garden that had an outdoor and indoor component. Shane knew how to make use of the different settings, and his use of light (and the natural landscape) really stand out in both our sets of photos. We loved everything about our wedding photos, but what we’re the happiest with are the portraits of our guests. Shane and Meg managed to capture gorgeous candids of just about everyone in attendance—we hope to order prints of the candids as eventual gifts, because they’re just so spectacular at capturing particular personalities, facial expressions, and the actual texture of some interactions. We can’t say enough about how professional and how thoroughly awesome Shane was to work with. He’s a very gifted photographer, and we were lucky to work with him.

- allowing all the girls to enjoy the time before the wedding. He became part of the fun - helping me maneuver my dress (using the knowledge he has acquired from many weddings) and even popping champagne for us in the limo! His other half, Meg, was able capture the guys getting ready at the same time so nothing was missed. We chose not to do a first look and with Shane - it was very possible! Our wedding party even got to enjoy most of the cocktail hour and my new husband and I had a few minutes to ourselves before the reception. He was quick and efficient but didn't miss a shot! All of the pictures came out AMAZING and we couldn't be happier.I find myself looking at them over and over again, reliving our amazing day. Book Shane - you won't regret it.

an organized, responsible business owner and an extremely fun, laid-back, easy-to-work-with person, all at the same time. All of those things very much held true! He knew exactly what he was doing at every level and at every point in the process. He made it easy to relax and know that our photos were in good hands. He made the whole experience fun and easy, and the camera never felt intrusive or disruptive -- we only knew he was there when he was helping out in some way. We got our photos two weeks after the wedding (even accounting for his going on vacation during that time), and they're beautiful. He caught so many moments at just the right time, both fun and romantic. Even after going through them two or three times, we're still finding new ones to get excited about. He has our enthusiastic recommendation!

ne and fell in love with him. Not only did he make the photo shoot completely stress free but the pictures came back quickly and were absolutely gorgeous. On the wedding day, everyone wanted to be friends with Shane and his partner Meg! He was able to fix my hair and veil! He is definitely someone you want to have by your side on your wedding day! Our wedding photos came back so fast!!! Unbelievable! The photos were perfect! I can't express how beautiful they were! He captured every guest and every moment. We felt like we were able to relieve our wedding day through the photos! We can't say thank you enough to Shane and Meg!!!!
