Since 2004, Sleeping Giant Music (SGM) and the sub division SGM Events has served as a standard-bearer for entertainment excellence. Through our unyielding dedication to both artists and audiences alike, SGM provides quality entertainment on a global scale.
SGM’s more than 15 years of exceptional booking, talent buying, and logistical services add up to a simple formula: We handle the business while our artists focus on their craft.
SGM Events Services Offered:
Weddings - Wedding entertainment can take many forms. Two of the most popular types of wedding entertainment are bands and DJs. However, at SGM Events, we offer the highest quality bands, DJs, and alternative forms of entertainment, so you can let your creativity run wild.
Mobile DJs - What is a mobile DJ? A mobile disc jockey is able to tour with his or her own portable DJ’ing equipment. That makes a mobile DJ the perfect performer for weddings and other private events.SGM Events is proud to manage the top talent in the San Diego area. When you work with SGM Events, you get all of the benefits that come from working with a top talent agency.
Musicians - There is nothing quite like live music to make an event memorable, and the talented musicians represented by SGM Events are the best that the San Diego area has to offer. Whether you are choosing between a band, an acoustic performer, or strings for your wedding, we can provide the talent you need.
Photo Booths - SGM Events has the perfect entertainment for your wedding. However, besides a live entertainer, we’ve found that many of our clients are also interested in renting a photo booth for the event. That’s why we also offer this fabulous service.
Silent Disco - A silent disco is a quiet club environment when a DJ plays music that is only heard over headphones. The headphones use wireless receivers to transmit the music to each participant. It creates a really cool effect for someone who walks into the room without headphones on yet. It just looks like a room full of people dancing in silence.

It was important to pick a DJ who could play a variety of music for all our family & friends. We wanted old, new in both English and in Spanish. Mikey Beats did that! He asked all ...
the right questions to get the vibe we wanted. I was cheering during dinner as every song came on. There’s a reason all the DJs book Mikey Beats for their weddings.
Bernard was amazing! He was very communicative during the planning process and helped keep my husband and I on schedule throughout the reception. He was able to incorporate drinkin...
g games and even stuck to our "no play" list (my husband HATES Journey). The dance floor had people on it all night! I am so grateful for suck an amazing DJ and team. Thank you so much!
We had to reschedule our wedding date numerous times. Our last reschedule also included a change in venue from Dana Point to San Diego. Our previously scheduled DJ was willing to m...
ove with us for a fee. SGM was recommended by our venue so I thought it would be worth exploring as the cost of a local company be end up being less than our current vendor even if we had to eat our deposit. From the moment I spoke with the SGM team and Bernard, there was no looking back. Bernard stared by asking about us, what we envisionrd and our taste in music rather than talking to us about what he does. He was the only DJ we interviewed that took the time to know us. And the price was far and away better than my previously booked DJ. SGM also sought out and found a bagpipe and drum band as a surprise for our guests, again just for a small fee. I can't say enough about how great the SGM team was to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any event in the future.
Mikey was our DJ and he did such a wonderful job tailoring the music to fit our style and personalities. He took the time to get to know us and what we wanted -- meeting in person...
and through phone calls. Everything went off without a hitch the day of!
It was so easy and comfortable to work with Sleeping Giant Music and DJ Bernard. We gave Bernard the songs we wanted to play for selected moments (processional, recessional, grand ...
entrance, first dance, etc...) but otherwise gave him free reign to read the crowd and played what he thought was best for our wedding. And it was AMAZING. He had almost all of our guests up and dancing even though I had been worried no one would dance! We ended up ending our night about 20 minutes earlier than planned since we were exhausted and we had guests dancing up until the very end. Bernard double checked pronunciation with us and made sure everyone who needed a mic had one. We couldn't have been more pleased to have hired him!
Bernard did a great job of playing the music we requested and getting everyone on the dance floor. He was attentive to detail, and confirmed what name we wanted to be introduced by...
(it was different than the ceremony). He helped keep the wedding organized and read the crowd well. All of our guests had a great time dancing!
BOOK! MIKE KLEEMAN!
Our music and dance floor was everything we had imagined and more because of Mike and the SGM Events team! From the moment I met Mike, I could tell that he is ...
the type of DJ every bride wishes for…one who LISTENS to what the bride and groom want, an EXPERT at his craft, and UNDERSTANDS that less talking (on the microphone) is better! Mike and the SGM Events team (Freddie & Alexis) are quick to respond to email and make you feel like you are the only wedding they are working on. Mike even provided us with several sample lists for before the wedding, during cocktail hour, and during dinner. He makes sure the music at your wedding is everything you’ve dreamed of which includes must have songs, hard no songs, and whether you want him to take requests from guests. He sent me a form to fill out with all the songs we wanted played during all the different sections of our wedding. He then created & sent us a Dropbox folder with every single song we picked to make sure he had the correct version. He created a detailed timeline with notes next to each section. He even scheduled a call a week before our wedding to go over the timeline of all the songs and to explain what he says throughout your wedding. He played portions of songs for me to make sure he had the correct section because we we’re not using the entire song for our entrance, first dance, and father & daughter dance. Talk about going ABOVE and BEYOND! He is truly the BEST DJ and emcee!! He even assisted our photographer, so we could get a group photo of everyone on the dance floor. (We also had a videographer and the footage from our group photo is one of my favorite parts from our wedding video. Mike made that group photo happen). Mike & SGM Events, thank you for making our happily ever after absolutely perfect!
We had about 3 or 4 on our list to contact, but our wedding coordinator steered us to SGM Events as she had experience with them in the past. DJ Mike Kleeman from Sleeping Giant Mu...
sic Events was probably one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We were highly satisfied with our overall experience and the SGM team helped guide us through the whole process. From the beginning, DJ Mike Kleeman proved his experience with us as a wedding DJ and gave us sample music of his work, as well as playlists that he made available to us. We were pretty much vague as what we wanted, but he gave us options of what he can produce. He will ask about your likes and dislikes, songs you definitely want to play and songs that are a no-go, genres that you favor, and go through the list of songs from the ceremony through the last song! You’d think it would be easy, but making a playlist for your wedding is not as simple as you would think- especially coming from 2 individuals with semi-different tastes! Also, with all the songs on your want list, condensing that down to the dance part of the reception is very limited; however, he did it with a breeze. He also will do a walk through (if needed) to assess your venue for technical support so he can familiarize himself with the area- both ceremony and reception. Price is resonable and within means. We added some A/V rentals to our order which didn’t cost too much or break the bank. Altogether, we will definitely recommend SGM + DJ Mike Kleeman- best combo ever!
Thank you so much for providing me with the perfect entertainment. My Guitarist for the Cocktail hour was amazing and my DJ was professional and played such a wonderful array of so...
ngs for everyone to enjoy. I would highly recommend SGM Events for your event or wedding.

l to work with. He gave us amazing advice and made the venue pop with his uplights. He knows how to read a crowd and keep the party going. Everyone laughed about how sore they were the next day from dancing. The music was so good- no one ever took a break. Thank you Bernard! You're the best!
We LOVED working with DJ Mike Kleeman from SGM Events for our wedding in early October. Before the wedding, he was excellent in providing us playlist samples and even helped edit t...
he special mixed track we used for the Father/ Daughter dance. Day of, he set sound up with ease and went above and beyond and looped our Hora track right on the spot. He was a great emcee and kept the night moving all while playing the perfect soundtrack for our perfect day! I would recommend DJ Mike Kleeman to anyone looking for event DJing and emceeing. 10 out of 10!
SGM has SO many DJs to offer depending on what you’re looking for. I only give a 4/5 because despite their diversity in DJs, they did not have an Arab DJ. It made the whole experie...
nce a little tougher than I’d like as the DJ we selected didn’t have the knowledge and understanding of the music. Despite that very small detail, SGM is amazing! Our DJ, Kerry, was super helpful from the get go! He helped us understand what extra equipment we needed and details regarding the set up. Thank you Kerry your help and patience as I’m sure an Arab wedding was a different experience lol.

y compliments about the music, and many guests said it was the most fun they had ever had at a wedding. He delivered perfection - from the transitions in the ceremony music to the song selection during dinner to his ability to read the crowd and keep people rocking out all night long. On a personal/professional level, he was also a lot of fun to work with. He listened to our ideas - both vague and specific - and turned them into reality. When we were starting the process of meeting with potential DJs, we weren't sure how we would know when we had found "the one" - until we found "the one"!! We knew we would be in goods hands with him, and he did not disappoint. Thank you for making our wedding an unforgettable and amazingly fun day!
Mikey Beats was the DJ for our wedding reception at the Ultimate Skybox and he was fantastic! Mikey had the dance floor packed the whole night and our friends had such a fun time. ...
I loved how he changed the lighting throughout the night to reflect the mood-amber lights for the first dance and purple later in the evening during open dance. Mikey is also a great MC-he led a group of 90 to do the Horah and has a great voice for announcing the wedding party/grand entrance. Leading up to the wedding, Mikey and his team at SGM Events were very responsive to e-mails and made sure we stayed on top of choosing our wedding reception songs. I would highly recommend DJ Mikey Beats and SGM events!

al time during our event at the Thursday club. Could not have asked for better DJ's! They were professional, funny, and had awesome mixes for everyone who wanted to hit the floor.

sure we stayed within our timeline the best that we could since it rained most of the day. Every song that we requested was definitely played. He was also very professional and personable. I would highly recommend Nik B to anyone!

all the things that were going on! He has been great throughout the whole planning, we love you Mikey!
Nik kept the dance floor rocking all night, which was especially impressive for a Sunday night wedding. While he gave us the option of choosing the songs we wanted played, we simpl...
y told him some artists we liked and gave him the freedom to play whatever he felt was best. We are so glad we did this because he had a great ability to understand our diverse crowd (in terms of age and music preference), and he played music that everyone could enjoy and dance to. He even got those who generally don’t dance up and moving on the dance floor. Numerous guests mentioned how great he was and that he never played any bad songs.
Personally, Nik is a great guy with a laid back personality, yet he is also very professional and easy to work with. Beyond music, he also provided lighting for our reception hall and always responded to our emails and questions immediately. Finally, he made great announcements on the night of the wedding and kept everything running smoothly. We’ve seen DJs try to take over weddings before and keep the spotlight on them, but Nik kept all the attention on us throughout the entire night and did not make anything about him. We highly recommend Nik if you want a fun wedding with a packed dance floor and a DJ that can adapt to any crowd.
We had DJ Artistic at our wedding and he was the best dj ever!!! Music was so important to me so i gave him a list of what i wanted to play and let me tell you..he knows his stuff....
he played the best set i have ever heard and everyone at the wedding loved the music so much that we actually broke the dance floor! great job art!!! you rocked it. and working with sleeping giant was great!
Nik B from SGM came out to our wedding to DJ and set up microphones and sound for our ceremony. He was great to work with. He made everything run smoothly and knew exactly what to ...
say to get the crowd going. We told him what kind of music we liked and he stuck to that and played all night! So happy with our decision!
Nik was an awesome DJ! I loved the fact that he has club experience and isn't your typical cheesy wedding/bar mitzvah style DJ (no YMCA, macarena or country line dancing - thank yo...
u!) He was super chill and easy to work with and everyone loved him. Granted, I gave him a pretty specific play list and suggested songs, but he did a great job at getting people out on the dance floor and keeping the party going until the very end of the night.
Nik was a great DJ! He played fun music with just enough variety for all age groups. He made sure we were moving through our wedding timeline smoothly and he also arrived early on ...
the big day to set-up a sound system for our outdoor wedding ceremony. I would definitely recommend him!
