Esin was lovely to work with, and I’m glad I went with her after being recommended by the Jenny Yoo team! Her decades of experience was evident as she understood my vision and exac...
tly where the wedding dress needed to be tailored. The tailoring was perfect in one-go and she offered to hold onto the dress until closer to the wedding day. In addition to her tailoring expertise, she was so thoughtful and she put me at ease about wearing the dress on the wedding day, encouraging me to tailor and fit the dress where I can comfortably enjoy the big day. Thank you for creating a warm, supportive environment– my family and I had a great time working with you!
I cannot recommend Sew Elegant Bridal enough! I had the best experience with Esin and her team. I did both my fittings solo and was nervous going in. The warmth and support I recei...
ved made the fittings so fun and eased me immediately. Their work is incredible as well and pricing is great considering they're located in the heart of the Garment District.
It's rare to meet people in the wedding industry who support and uplift you in the way this team does. I'm truly so thankful they're a part of my wedding story!
I wouldn’t even recommend this place to my WORST ENEMY. No bride should have to go through what I experienced here.
From the beginning, the process was chaotic and misleading. At ...
my initial appointment, I clearly explained the alterations I needed: unlining the bodice, taking in the dress, adding lace to the neckline, adding a bow at the waist, and adding a CRINOLINE TO THE SKIRT. I was quoted FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS, which already felt excessive.
When I returned to review everything, the owner denied ever agreeing to unline the bodice and made me feel like I had imagined the conversation. It was incredibly frustrating and honestly upsetting. Only after I pointed out that it was written in THEIR OWN NOTES did they reluctantly agree to include it.
Trying to adjust the scope to reduce costs turned into an even worse experience. When I called to REMOVE the crinoline from the skirt and asked for an updated price breakdown, I was met with SHOCKING hostility. The assistant raised her voice, spoke to me in an extremely disrespectful way, and told me to come pick up my dress if I was “trying to negotiate,” which I was NOT. I was simply trying to make the alterations more affordable. She refused to provide an ITEMIZED breakdown and instead doubled down on being aggressive and dismissive.
She also told me that if I removed the skirt alteration, the bodice alone would cost TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS and that she would NOT adjust pricing to reflect the reduced work.
When I went to pick up my dress, the same assistant avoided eye contact and denied the entire interaction. A coworker who overheard the phone call came with me and confirmed EXACTLY how I was spoken to. Even then, there was NO apology, NO accountability, and NO attempt to make things right.
The lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic respect is honestly SHOCKING, especially for a business working with brides during such an important time.
I left feeling disrespected, dismissed, and completely unsupported. This was one of the WORST customer service experiences I’ve ever had.
DO NOT go here unless you are prepared for a stressful and deeply disappointing experience
Esin does incredible work and I knew with my wedding dress in her hands I wouldn’t have to worry about a thing! The alterations came out perfectly just as I expected. She even reme...
mbered my dress that she had worked on for a previous bride so she knows a lot of the dresses well. She is also such a warm, genuine person and she was a pleasure to spend time with during my appointments. Thank you Esin for your hard work! I would highly recommend Sew Elegant to all brides!
Hands down, the sweetest and most talented alterations expert I could’ve asked for. She knew exactly what to do—without me even having to say a single thing. Her attention to detai...
l, calm presence, and experience made the entire process smooth and stress-free.
My dress fit like it was made just for me (because after her magic, it basically was!). I’m so thankful for her care and expertise—she made me feel confident, comfortable, and truly beautiful on my wedding day.
Esin is such a nice person and made me feel at ease from the moment I met her. Her work is a little pricier than a few other spots I spoke with, but she was highly recommended by a...
friend and I found it worth every penny — you cannot put a price on confidence on your wedding day. My dress fit like a glove and I danced all night without worry that anything would move. I got tons of compliments on my dress! And despite a rather complex bustle situation, the labelled ribbons under my dress made the process super easy to explain to my bridesmaids and coordinator.
Sew Elegant saved my wedding dress.
At the recommendation of several friends, I went to Alts for my first bridal fitting—and the experience was horrific. I’m extremely flat cheste...
d, and I wanted to take in the bust of my dress, and Alts’ solution was to stuff the chest with inserts and take in the neckline to fit against me. When I asked about taking the chest in, they said it would be “too big a job.” For the ill-fitting solution, they quoted me $1600—nearly the cost of the dress. I left crying.
Luckily, Sew Elegant was recommended by a local NYC facebook group and took one look at my flat chest in the dress and began pinning accordingly. Esin heard my sob story and was horrified, shaking her head and tsking, knowing that was not a feasible solution. She explained that she works on a custom mannequin with your measurements do every single alteration, so it’s literally made to fit your specific body. She is so incredibly talented. The final dress was magical. Yes, it was a big job. I had to have the bust completely taken apart and made significantly smaller, but it was done perfectly. Like couture.I danced all night without worrying that anything was going to gap or fall. She also managed to create the most stunning bustle I had ever seen from my incredibly long train—oh, and I paid less than I would have at Alts for this custom perfection.
Esin and the whole team at Sew Elegant are simply the best. Esin makes you feel like family and is masterful at what she does. My dress couldn’t have turned out any better. Her and...

planning, and Esin and everyone at Sew Elegant were just so reassuring and helpful throughout the process. She made my dress fit me like a glove. I have a rather large chest, and she altered the top of the dress so well I didn’t even need to wear a bra — honestly a true miracle!! She also added a bustle to my dress that lasted throughout the entire night and she walked my bridesmaids through how to bustle it for me. Without a doubt this was the best money I spent during wedding planning — know you’re in good hands with your wedding dress with Sew Elegant!

andled my french crepe gown masterfully. She is a warm, loving person who puts her heart into every dress she cares for and every bride she works with -- you can tell by all the pictures of past clients lining her studio walls and her hug-filled greetings as soon as you walk through the door. I immediately felt at home and trusted that she would make my dress fit perfectly. I only needed 2 fittings given the fabric’s delicate nature; it fit like a glove, and made me look and feel beautiful. She also advised on my undergarments so everything looked seamless, how to care for the dress before wearing it and how to bustle (with my maid of honor on facetime!).
Sew Elegant is the best! Esin did my alterations and she is a true gem. She is so warm and welcoming and I felt like I was spending time with my own grandmother during my fittings ...
with her. It's so clear how passionate she is about her craft and how much she cares about her brides. She even gave me a little ribbon for my "something blue" along with her great life advice. Her alterations were perfect. She altered my form fitting dress to match the exact curve of my body and it looks incredible. She has a perfectionist's eye. 10/10 would recommend!
Sew Elegant saved my dress for me. I originally took my wedding dress to a tailor that wasn't able to do the alterations I needed and kept my dress for two months before even begin...
ning to work on it. I got it back two and a half weeks before I needed to leave for my Destination wedding and it still wasn't fitting me properly. The bust was too big so I couldn't raise my arms without a gap, and the bustle was terrible. I was lucky I found Sew Elegant and I explained the short turnaround that I needed. They squeezed me in the same day for an appointment, explained after seeing me in the dress how they could fix it to make it properly fit me and fix the bustle, and scheduled me to come try it on with a few days to spare in case any last minute changes were needed. When I picked up my dress it fit me perfectly, and I felt so relieved. Esin and her team were fantastic. They put me at ease, and are true pros.
Elena made this process SO easy. She was so warm & kind and I really trusted her. My dress fit perfectly and I felt amazing. Highly recommend.
