If you want to impress your guests, host your next party at the Roostertail. I cannot put into words how impressed our guests were with our wedding reception. Everything was impeccably executed to an even higher degree of quality than we anticipated. My husband and I thanked the staff and their responses were “thank you for letting us serve you” followed by many congratulations, of course. In a world of short-cutting and vendors “nickle and diming” you for every request, The Roostertail holds themselves to an era of hospitality that is rare to come by these days. One year ago we were just any other couple who walked in to meet with Shawna, the events coordinator and HBIC. She made us feel like family, and on the day we felt like celebrities. She heard us through every request and helped to guide us through what would work, what wouldn’t, and why. She also helped us understand the structure of the contract so much so that I was then able to take a line from the agreement we signed and implement it into my contract with other vendors. That’s making an impact. The hospitality from the first day we met to the day of our wedding, we were always made a priority. Shawna made sure of it. There aren’t many people with her work ethic and attention to detail, and we feel exceptionally fortunate to have had her with us throughout this process. I kept telling my family and friends that you would think she’s planning her own wedding, that’s how much she cares. Which, coincidentally, she did get married at The Roostertail! She didn’t just think about us, but really curated the party with a focus around the guests experience, which was my number one priority as well. Her forethought for each and every step of the day was simply remarkable. We love that the venue has a vintage feel and the recent renovations are superb. The women’s restroom lounge was a hit as I knew it would be. Who doesn’t want a good mirror pic these days? The FOOD !!! This is where a majority of our budget went and my oh my it was worth every dollar. It wasn’t just good for catered food, it was a fabulous dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection. I remember someone telling me I was crazy for not getting a tasting, but that’s how much trust I had in Shawna. When she told me she’s got me, she fully meant it. It also helped that everyone I talked to that had been to the Roostertail for an event raved about the food. I wish we could just go there for dinner and the views!

My wedding planning was a breeze with them. Now for our wedding day, I can’t thank them enough. The night before our wedding, my husband suffered a traumatic brain injury. Nicole, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We didn’t know if our wedding was going to still happen as my husband was in the hospital until he checked himself out 3 hours before our ceremony. We were greeted with smiles, hugs and compassion. I will never stop talking about how amazing the Roostertail is, not only is it a BEAUTIFUL venue, but the team they have there is outstanding in every way.

Roostertail, located in Detroit, Michigan is a modern, mid-century wedding venue. Nestled along the Detroit River, you can enjoy beautiful views from our private, event spaces here while you make memories to last a lifetime. The team at this versatile venue wants to help streamline all of the work involved in event planning. They are on hand to help in whatever way they can, catering to your every need. Shawna, Nicole and Lexi the three event coordinators that love helping their couples find ways to make their dream wedding a reality! We specialize in events that reflect your personal style and taste. Roostertail first opened its doors in 1958 and has welcomed all manner of illustrious guests, including Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and Elton John. Tony Bennett has also visited here, and even used to be an employee at the venue. Roostertail has more than 25,000 square feet of space for you to transform, with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the river and the city skyline. There are three event spaces to choose from and two outdoor ceremony sites. You can exchange your vows on our waterfront Deck or Side Patio with beautiful views of the boats going by in the backdrop. An intimate reception can be held in the Club, which has a maximum capacity of 60 guests. Our Marine Room, which welcomes between 50-215 guests, has a hydraulic dance floor to wow your guests during your first dance! Our largest space, our Palm River Room, welcomes between 125 and 450 attendees, with floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the Detroit River. There is plenty of free on-site parking for added convenience. Lots of event items are provided, including linens, customizable LED lighting, and Chiavari chairs. There's also an event coordinator on hand to help you with any questions you might have.

planner who had to stop working with us because of a personal change. We were nervous that this change so close to the wedding would be a huge hiccup. We met with our new planner, Nicole, and we were able to work out any kinks in communication or planning details and prepare for the wedding day with enough time for everything to be ready. The wedding day was super smooth with coordination, the food was phenomenal, the service and care from the staff was great, and it literally was the easiest event we have ever been a part of. We didn’t have to think about a single detail outside of being with family and friends and doing all the things we had planned for the day. It was the most beautiful day and the small details that the Roostertail put together for us to personalize the wedding were so special to us. It couldn’t have been any more perfect. Looking back at the photos, we feel like we’re right back there in that beautiful space celebrating such a special moment. We had our ceremony outside on the side patio, GORGEOUS, and our reception on the main level, in the Marine room. Everything was set up beautifully and communication with the staff before, during and after the event was immaculate. Huge shout out to Shawna!! Who listened to me and my guests, went out of her way to make sure we were all comfortable and that my decor looked even better than I could have imagined. The staff truly took the reins when it came to coordinating the day, not only within the building but with my vendors as well! We had multiple phone calls (which they were so flexible with! Given our work schedules) and each time they eased my mind about the biggest day of my life! I could not be more impressed with the staff at the Roostertail and their gorgeous venue. We were in the second floor ballroom for the reception. It was elegant from the ceiling star lights to the dance floor to the bar area and we enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows showing off some of the city's best features. The food choices were prepared perfectly. The owners stopped by to check on us and shared a few stories of the early days of The Roostertail. All of it made this a very, very special day. Nicole and Colleen were beyond helpful with all of my questions, every text I sent was responded to within an hour and all the meetings with them both really helped solidify information and answered questions. Nicole is the best coordinator ever. She literally has the best personality for this job and this venue. She’s so sweet and helpful and bubbly and considerate, I’m really really happy I got to work with her. Shout out to Ava too for making my ramen bar happen, myself and all of the guests LOVED it. All the staff at the Roostertail are so helpful and it’s just a great location. My wedding guests even said Becky at the bar was great too. Along the water, beautiful architecture, pretty lights, and wonderful staff, the Roostertail has it all. Don’t wait to book with them, you won’t regret it! The Roostertail is pricey, but you’re definitely paying for the beautiful location and the too snitch service. Book early to get your payment plans all set up! pecially with the way the sunlight hits as it begins to set, but also with the newly renovated and extremely dynamic lighting system and floor plans. The entire staff is an absolute delight to work with. Never at any point did we feel that they were just "going along with things". Every single person we worked with seemed to care wholeheartedly about making our vision come to life and that they were enjoying the creative process of planning our wedding along side us. By the end of this experience, they felt like new friends -- ones my husband and I are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with. We had some rather out-of-the-box ideas, including live fire performances, swordsman combat, jazz band, middle eastern drum line, and a DJ. These may have been barriers at other wedding venues, but when we told Roostertail, they were nothing short of supportive and enthusiastic about making sure it all came together seamlessly. They even went above and beyond and added in surprises for us and our guests throughout the night, which was so cool! Also, we HIGHLY recommend their fireworks add-on option over the Detroit River. Truly, magical. The Roostertail team's attention to detail, responsiveness, and commitment to excellence made this a night we will never forget. We are so grateful to have had our wedding at the Roostertail and feel lucky to have collaborated with such genuine, professional, and fun people. One huge perk about this venue is that their packages include everything (food, drinks, chairs, linens, etc.) and they even had a boxwood wall for rent that provided some great photo ops. Views of the river from the ceremony and reception (Palm River Room and deck) were gorgeous and look beautiful in our photos. Many of our guests also commented that the food was delicious. We want to give a huge shout out to Nicole for being an MVP on our big day! She made sure everything ran smoothly and worked side-by-side with our day of wedding planner to ensure our wedding day was just how we envisioned. The gorgeous scenery made the day feel like a dream and it resulted in a lot of amazing photos to relive the day over and over again. Most importantly, the venue is perfect to join everyone together and celebrate, whether that was living it up on the dance floor or a conversation on the quiet patio. If you are looking for a venue which can help reduce stress while delivering a high-quality experience, we highly recommend the Roostertail. Leading up to the event, Nicole asks a lot of very thorough questions, provides clear directions on what is required, and offers a series of recommendations to make for an excellent wedding. The Roostertail coordinated with our external vendors to ensure that we didn’t have to stress on the day of the event, and everything went smoothly with very little input from us which allowed us to focus on each other and our guests. Nicole was a true joy to work with during the entire process – we felt completely heard and taken care of, and ended up with a wedding that exceeded our dreams.

. The food was great, and some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had in my life. Each and every staff member was so gracious and kind. We had a bunch of guests tell us about how the staff was so sweet and went out of their way to help. 1 table was missed for cake on the first pass and within minutes they all had cake. Shawna was THEE best. She turned into my fairy godmother and was there for me when life was falling apart the week of the wedding, and was there for me all day and night making sure every detail I could think of was taken care. I didn't have to even think to ask her to do anything day of...because she already thought of it and it was taken care of. I did my own flowers and had a bunch of extras- her staff took them and added them around the room, on my candy table, and added extra vases because I ran out of time (last minute chaos led to being short handed). They added more containers to my candy table so I didn't have to worry about refilling things through the night. The bar staff remembered people and kept the drinks flowing and always prioritized my in-laws when they went to grab a drink. From setup to take down, it was a dream and I only wish it would've lasted longer!!! Tell them your vision and dreams and I almost guarantee they will make every ounce of it happen. I last minute was able to use the deck, and it was sooooo beautiful. I got to mingle with people on boats at the marina while I was waiting to walk down the aisle, which was unexpectedly wonderful). The owners and family were there the day before and day-of and are the absolute sweetest humans. My necklace broke as we were lining up to walk out on the dock and Ava (fiancé of the owner, I think) ran to her maintenance team to get it fixed last minute- she also made sure we had drinks before the ceremony started- an absolute gem. The fountains turning on during our first dance along with the rising dance floor had guests gasping. As magical as it felt, looking at videos it was even more so. Nicole, one of the other venue coordinators randomly fielded questions from me and is yet another gem on their staff. 1000/10 I would get married there again.

We were lucky enough to have enjoyed the updated renovations which brightened the entire upstairs venue. The food was so tasty, the drinks were ever flowing, the chivari chairs, gorgeous, the colorful fountains, it’s all incredible. Roostertail on 9/23/2023. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day! The venue is so beautiful, the food was incredible, and the staff is amazing. Plus, the musical history of the Roostertail cannot be beat - one of the first things that had drawn us to the venue! My guests continue to rave about the view, the deliciousness of the food and the great pours! I wanted to give a special shout out to Nicole and Ava. Nicole was our day of venue coordinator, as well as my point of contact throughout my whole wedding planning journey with the Roostertail - she was an absolute dream to work with and any bride would be lucky to have her on their team! She made me and my entire family feel so welcomed and cared for - she went out of her way to attend to my every need the day of my wedding. When she heard that our morning plans fell through with our hotel vendor so I didn’t have a breakfast, she offered up some of her personal snack stash to make sure I wasn’t starving during the ceremony. Ava was so helpful throughout the night to attend to the needs of my family and I. She heard that I liked rum, so she got me a flight of different rums to sample! She truly made me feel so special. The staff here truly cannot be beat, they treat you like family and they go above and beyond. You can feel that this is a family owned business through and through. The Roostertail went above and beyond to make our day the wedding of our dreams. We even got to meet the owners, Tom and Diane, while we were there and they gave us a gift on our way out. The very first day of meeting her we cried together 🤣🫶🏼 we shared some personal things with each other and was sitting there crying lol. We clicked right away! She was such a mother figure to me through this whole process. She got along with everyone. She loved my sister in laws hahah. When she met my husband, omg they were sitting there for 2 hours talking about cars! She made us feel like we were at home 💜💜💜 if I could do it all again I wouldn’t trade Shawna for the world. She made sure I had the wedding of my dreams. The day of my wedding, Ava was with us! Every time I turned around she was there to make sure I was doing good and had a drink in my hand 🤣 she even fixed my dress! She has the needle and thread ready! I appreciate her so much. Our day of coordinator Shawna was absolutely amazing AND THE BEST!!! She was very responsive and thorough and understanding with every email and text. We literally had friends and family calling us the next month after our wedding to rave about the experience.
