River Edge Bed and Breakfast & Gathering Place

er that took our breath away! Bill drove us out into the field with our photographer for sunset photos, and they turned out better than I could have ever imagined! I can't stop looking at these photos! Bill and Brenda were very helpful & professional leading up to our event, and I felt confident that we were in good hands! On the day, they made sure all of our needs were met, and the event went off without a hitch! This venue has everything you could desire from Michigan historic charm to idealic scenes of nature! I highly recommend this venue! 💐🏡🥰

ut with our photographer for field photos at sunset time. There is no place around where we could duplicate the type of photos we were able to get here. Bill and Brenda were very helpful prior to our event, and made sure all of our day-of needs were met. If you love nature, a diverse setting of wildflowers, prairie grass, butterflies, songbirds and trees with a beautiful winding river, we would highly recommend this venue!

and exactly what I imagined getting married at. Conveniently, they also had a reception area which is what I wanted as well. Brenda was an excellent communicator, she answered every question we asked and gave us reminders about payments. We met Bill the day of our wedding and he was very helpful in answering any questions and ensuring we were sticking to our contract. The day could not have gone so smoothly without them around. Some of the other reviews did mention they did sit at a picnic table outside the reception area, but I did not find it weird or felt they passed any judgment on what we did or how we planned everything. We catered through Mission BBQ and had their designated Butch by Bars for alcohol. We played our own music through spotify and rented speakers and mics from Speaker on a Stick, and the venue had no issues with any of them. We actually ended up leaving the venue an hour ahead of schedule and I was honestly relieved because I'd been awake since 5:30am, but it also meant we didn't have to rush cleanup or anything. During clean up, my husband accidentally dropped a ring his father gave him as a gift and we called Bill a 1/2 hour after we left the venue and he was very nice about it and told us he'd call us in the morning to let us know if Brenda found it, which she did. They were very kind and accommodating and left the ring and our deposit at their house for us to pick up later that day. Later that weekend, we found out our wedding cake had been accidentally thrown away along with our cake cutlery and the cake topper. My father called Bill and asked if he could come over and go through the dumpsters to recover it and Bill was so understanding and allowed my dad to do that. Which was wonderful. Every guest I talked to mentioned how lovely the ceremony was and how beautiful the venue was all together. We had no problems during our 1/2 hour sunset photos either. Bill lead us to amazing places and we're excited to see how well they all turned out!! Leading me to say, I have no negative things to say about the day or about Bill and Brenda. They made the day wonderful and even the events that occurred afterwards, they showed compassion and care for us.

sited the venue to even after our wedding day. Their property is stunning and they take meticulous care of it and for that reason it deserves guests/couples to treat it with the same care. Our day couldn’t have gone any smoother and Bill and Brenda played a huge part in that. During our reception, Bill took my husband, our photographer, and me out into their grass field and along the river, which provided us with some of our absolute favorite photos of the day. Bill and Brenda also provide a list of vendors (bar and cater) which greatly helped us narrow down the overwhelming options when first starting wedding planning. Both recommended vendors were also wonderful! We would absolutely recommend River Edge Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for a pristine and natural setting!

ble. Bill and Brenda are lovely to work with. The venue is priced very reasonably, and my husband and I feel like we got everything we could have wanted well within budget. I loved my August wedding, and I can't recommend River Edge highly enough!

on, and we had so much fun on the sunset photo shoot. We even got a glimpse of some of the wildlife! Highly recommend if you're looking for a romantic outdoor wedding.

paces and reception pavilion are so beautiful, we hardly needed any extra decorations, and all our guests could talk about was how beautiful it was. Bill and Brenda were wonderful to work with, very communicative and kind, and we had so much fun with Bill on the sunset photo ride! We had a couple issues, but Bill and Brenda were so accommodating and helpful. 10/10 would recommend!

ntil the wedding day in June 2024, Bill and Brenda communicated efficiently and very well. They have very clearly written rules in the contract you sign upon booking and they stick to them. There is not a lot of flexibility with these, but with the sanctity and beauty of the venue, it’s understandable, but also good to read through the entire contract up front so you know exactly what to expect! Bill and Brenda are amazing people to work with. Our guests and master and mistress of wedding and our families had nothing but great things to say about them the day of. They are super easy to work with, remain on property to help wherever is needed, and the cherry on the top of the day was Bill bringing my husband and I as well as our photographers out on their property for sunset photos. It was absolutely beautiful and everything we could’ve asked for and more. The day was beautiful, the venue was stunning, Bill and Brenda were amazing. Could not recommend this place more!

e their maternity photos. Would absolutely recommend!

created an environment which cannot be found elsewhere. Bill and Brenda were always accessible when we had any questions or concerns, very helpful during setup time, parking assistance and kept the pavilion and property well maintained throughout the event. We recommend this venue to couples seeking a naturally diverse and beauty filled environment for their guests, and place a high value on the photos that can be realized there.

able memorable experience. The private property speaks for itself as it is a unique one of a kind beautiful and peaceful place that offers a wide variety of sceneries for exceptional photos.

. The house is charming and nostalgic. The view from the pavilion is breathtaking. Bill, Brenda and staff were so nice to work with and were always available to help answer all of our questions during setup. They did a great job maintaining the pavilion and grounds throughout the event, and we had only positive feedback from our guests. They all had a wonderful time. We appreciated that Bill took the time to transport us to the most popular areas for our sunset field photos. We did not want to be away from our guests for long, and knowing this, Bill offered to take us to the most popular spots first. As a result, we were able to photograph more field locations than we thought we might have had time for. Every aspect of our day was perfect, and we are so happy to have been able to experience it at River Edge. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us and our guests!

ad, and the friends and family we celebrated with. That all being said, please save your money and do not use this venue. The owners will claim their faith to you at every opportunity they get, but then will attack your character the moment you provide any negative feedback to the venue or how it’s operated. Their rules are extreme, and they hover over the entire event. I felt like I was walking on eggshells with them from the moment I signed the contract, until the wedding was over. I received negative feedback from many of my other vendors, and well as guests about the owners, which is simply embarrassing. Just please do your research on them, read reviews, and pay specific attention to the way Bill (the owner) responds to negative feedback.

rea is close by and they have lights and a few decorations already hung! Communication was good throughout our entire experience and the day of they were onsite ready to help in anyway they could. Another thing we loved was the tour Bill took us on so that we could get the best locations on the property for photos. Lovely couple and venue. Thank you, Bill and Brenda!!

process. I wouldn't have wanted any other venue. With that being said there were multiple moments during the planning process where I felt their rules didn't allow me to have everything I wanted. They do have a very small amount of things that fit inside of their contract. We found ways to work through it and find alternatives but this may not be something everyone is willing to do.

een such a success if not for them!

a were wonderful to work with! They are kind, communicative, and clearly take so much pride in their beautiful venue. Bill took us out through the property for sunset pictures that are some of our favorites from the whole day. We would recommend this gorgeous venue to anyone!

, it offers 3 different ceremony sites to choose from with gorgeous scenic backdrops. The reception pavilion is decorated with lights in the rafters and behind the head table. It can be heated for cooler fall evenings, like our October wedding. The bridal suite is quite small, however my bridal party got hair and makeup done off site and didn’t utilize that space except to get dressed and store our belongings. They only allow one bar service and enforce the no outside alcohol rule (even if getting ready in the bridal suite and gifts) but it did not affect our day. The owners, Bill and Brenda, are great to work with. They have quick communication and have multiple add ons to make your day individualized. One of the add ons is having them move the chairs from the ceremony site to the reception. However, after much debate, my husband and I agreed to opt out of this option and had our guests carry their own chairs and it was no big deal. Also, there was only 2 stalls for the bathroom. Our only regret was not adding on additional options for our guests to use. After my husband and I finished, while the guests were still eating, Bill snuck us out for sunset pictures–they turned out beautiful. Overall, our day was perfect and I 10/10 recommend this venue.

e day of! We really couldn’t have picked a better venue for our day!!!

can’t believe how beautiful it looked on the day. Bill and Brenda were very responsive and easy to work with through the process. This venue has some rules that ensure it stays pristine. Make sure that you read the contract to confirm that it’s right for you. Bill took us on a magical wagon ride into the wildflower field for sunset photos which are absolutely stunning. We had a wonderful experience and I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone looking for an outdoor venue.

eat we were treated! The owners Bill and Brenda did an amazing job at making us feel welcomed and did above and beyond in making our day extra special! During our photography portion, Bill did an excellent job showing us the best spots for pictures and really made us feel special on our day! We got amazing pictures and will cherish every moment we had on our special day. I would recommend River Edge again and again! It was a dream come true. We also got to stay over at the Bed and Breakfast the following morning and were blown away at the detail the Schreur's put into their hospitality and care. Thank you so much to you both and I pray blessings over you, your family, and your amazing business!

better! The day of my wedding was effortless all thanks to Bill and Brenda. They went above and beyond to being available to answer any questions to providing a heater last minute in the changing room for the cold weather. I could not ask for a better venue to have my wedding at.

Brenda were wonderful to work with and answered any questions that we had leading up to our wedding day. They were available the entire wedding day and helped to make sure that it ran smoothly. We chose to stay the night at the bed and breakfast that is on the property and our stay was perfect! The entire property is beautiful and I can't recommend it enough.

eous, and it is clear how much time and attention they give to it. The weather was perfect, so Bill was also able to take us, our photographers, and our videographer out into the field of wildflowers where we were able to capture the most beautiful moments! They were both also very responsive to all of our questions in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and their attention to detail helped make sure our wedding went so smoothly! It could not have been more perfect, and their Bed & Breakfast they have available for the couple the night of was perfect for my husband and I. We loved not having to travel anywhere after such an exhausting (yet perfect!) day. Thank you Bill and Brenda so so much for helping make our day so special!

River Edge and we’re immediately blown away by the property! There are just acres upon acres of beautiful wildflowers that serve as a gorgeous back drop for your special ceremony! Also, the weather was so good that Bill took us out on a wagon ride with our photographer and videographer and got the most gorgeous shots! Well we got two back so far, but we can’t wait to see the rest! You can tell that this venue is 100% Bill and Brenda’s pride and joy by the way they take care of it. They are all about preserving the natural beauty of the grounds and it truly shows. The pavilion itself is gorgeous, simple, clean, and very classy. It is stringed up with white tulle and fairy lights for a very elegant look! There is also a sweet backdrop already set up for behind the head table! It has string lights and tulle curtains once again. They include all of the tables and chairs also! (Just beware, you will not be able to set up your venue the night before…. This must be done at 11am only, the morning of the wedding) All in all, this place is a 10/10 If you get a chance to tour it, do it! Then book it ASAP! You won’t be disappointed! With love, -Jessica and Griffin Tomasik

s simple yet all very tasteful. It was also very helpful that you had relationships with the DJ and caterer, everything was seamless! We really can't think of anything we would have changed, so please accept our gratitude and keep up the great work!

l the natural beauty that surrounded us as well as the obvious love and care the owners have for their space. Any and all questions I had regarding the space for the big day were answered very promptly. The list of suggested vendors that is listed on River Edge's website was also very useful for booking our caterer (Adeline Leigh catering) and wedding photographer (Alyssa DenHartigh Photography). Not only were Bill and Brenda very helpful in the preparation leading up to our wedding day, but they also were very present and helpful during the rehearsal and ceremony/reception. We cannot thank them enough for helping to make our wedding day a stress free and beautiful celebration that we will never forget!

rk with throughout the whole process. They gave us a couple vendor recommendations and we were very pleased with both! An overall great venue and great people to work with. Thank you for making our day special! - Ben & Mara

renda) were very kind and accommodating in answer emails quickly, allowing us to visit the venue numerous times to get a feel for the layout and were very helpful and patient in helping us plan our wedding during COVID including find new dates. Our special day was amazing, our guests had a wonderful time and we are so happy that we chose this venue. Thank you so much Bill and Brenda!

cess (which turned into a lot more questions thanks to being a covid bride). They were completely understanding and made sure everything was set for our big day. The venue itself is GORGEOUS and is a photographers dream. It’s also a huge plus that you get the entire property for the day, so you can have a very private event while still having a beautiful and spacious venue. I’ve heard nothing but compliments from our guests about our venue and how much everyone loved it. The few pictures we have are breath taking and we cannot wait to see the rest of them! I seriously can not recommend this venue or Bill and Brenda enough, they were fantastic!!

ty is so breathtaking and the pavilion has so much built-in ambiance that minimal decorating was needed. They helped us with things we didn't even know we needed. They are so affordable, and it was so worth it.

ty. Bill and Brenda always responded to our emails quickly, answered all of our questions very patiently, and were just so kind to us and our guests. We had to delay our ceremony due to COVID, and they went the extra mile for us and the other couples so that we could have a new date that worked for us. They were even willing to work outside of their usual hours to accommodate our request for a brunch wedding! We couldn't have been happier with how our wedding turned out, and the River Edge Bed and Breakfast was the perfect venue for us. Thanks, Bill and Brenda!

nd they hovered around us and inspected everything we were doing while we were setting up and getting ready and made a very stressful day even more stressful. Brenda wore a long white sweater all day (my bridesmaid mistook her for me at one point) and Bill attended the wedding in his work clothes. Then they sat at one of our reception tables and ate our food without our permission. There was “miscommunication” about what candles we could use so we had to have our DJ go buy plates to go under them so we could use them. Bill berated my mother in law about who she was and what she was doing when she tried going back to the pavilion after she got ready (even though she’d been there all day). I made up gift baskets for my girls with wine in them and Brenda made my bridesmaid take the wine back to the car (even though her hands were full and it was about 50 degrees out and windy) even though we promised we weren’t going to drink it, it was strictly a gift. My bridesmaid was so frustrated and angry that she was almost in tears. Our ceremony started late because the parking attendant was directing people to the pavilion because it was cold instead of the ceremony site. On a positive note, Bill was kind enough to take my husband and I along with our photographer out on the property on his quad with a trailer to get some beautiful pictures. However, he belittled her on several occasions by making comments about how he could do her job and her job was so easy. Finally, when we first met with Bill and Brenda, they told us that they would only charge us for the number of seats that were used and we would get a refund for any guests that didn’t attend but the contract was just vague enough that it could be interpreted either way and of course, they didn’t honor the conversation we had. It’s a beautiful venue and location but with all of the issues we had with them the day of and after the wedding, we would highly recommend that you find a different place for your wedding.

ome out with our coordinator and look at the venue a month before the wedding. They were so easy to work with. And their property is absolutely beautiful and the perfect place for an outdoor wedding. If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor venue and owners who are easy to work with and very passionate with their business, then River Edge Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place for your wedding!

people we have ever met! They communicate well with the expectations and costs for their particular site. The cost is amazing for the incredible venue with three different options to be married at and furthermore all the available spots for pictures! We couldn't have asked or wanted a better place to tie the knot!

cations because of our large number of guests. When we visited River Edge, Bill have us a thorough tour and answered all our questions. The property was beautiful even in the colder season and we knew it was what we wanted for our reception venue. The pavilion was beautifully decorated and the property was perfect for pictures. Bill & Brenda answered all my questions during wedding planning and were consistent in their policies. We were so thankful that we could share our beautiful day with our friends and family on the stunning property of River Edge bed & breakfast.

so nice and easy to work with! We are so grateful for everything!

and were gracious to let us come see the venue several times. There was so much already at the venue that made it beautiful and less that we had to do such as the lights strung up in the reception area. Our day was very special thanks to this place!

king ! From a flowing river to scenic forest and rolling grass hills, it really hits all the boxes for an outdoor setting.

ven our rainy wedding day was stunning! The reception pavilion was conveniently located right by the ceremony site and it just had the perfect small, intimate, homey feel that we were looking for. Logistically - Bill & Brenda responded to emails promptly and answered all of our many questions with detail. If you're looking for a whimsical outdoor wedding venue, this is it, no doubt!

r ceremony and you could see the river flowing in the background. The staff (specifically Bill) helped direct our traffic into the parking area while Brenda was helpful in helping me set up and make my vision come to life. They were kind, patient, and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this venue and plan on coming back for honeymoon stays in the bed and breakfast!

experience: Overall I felt that my personal experience as a bride came second to maintaining their property. I found out half way through dinner that Brenda had taken it upon herself to follow my mother in to the bed and breakfast, step in front of her before entering, and had the nerve to say "I'm just making sure you're going to take your shoes off." Now, I did read and understand the contract. I did also talk to each of my party members beforehand as well about the no-shoes policy among other things. However, I can't follow around every party member throughout the day to make sure they're following the rules. I do understand that members of my party at times were running into the house and may or may not have been taking their shoes off. I wish I would have just been billed for any instances/damages caused instead of having staff personally confronting my bridal party about this. As soon as I found out that my mom had been personally singled-out, it pretty much ruined my mood for the night. Obviously as a bride, I want my bridal party to feel at-ease and have just as much as a good time that I am. I can't however say that I was comfortable with how my mom was treated. Like I said, just bill me de-facto if damages were caused by my party; just bite your tongue on the most important day of my life and confront me the day after. Communication: Bill is very responsive to emails. All of my questions were answered the same day. Venue: The site is beautiful, which is obvious. However, the layout is difficult for handicapped visitors. Also, I wish there would have been at the very least a handicapped bathroom. It was difficult for our family member in a wheelchair to use the restroom. I understood that I could have rented porta-potties, however, being a bride on a budget I simply couldn't afford that. The temperature in the tent does get a bit chilly, but nothing that is insufferable. I did rent their heater, however, when it was plugged in our DJ said that it was interfering with his speakers, so we had to unplug it. Thankfully we didn't end up needing to use it, but if we did, the DJ wouldn't have been able to fully perform what I paid him to do. Money down the drain.

r guests have only a small walk from ceremony to reception. The staff is friendly and willing to help when you need it. The house is beautiful as well, and the dressing building is cozy. We ended up having 94 degree weather on our September wedding day, but us and our guests hardly noticed or cared because we were having such an enjoyable time. Our wedding day would have been perfect no matter what venue we chose, but having the privilege to invite our guests out to River Edge made it even more special.
