Plane spotting, ferry hopping or cider drinking, the Barrel yard is an escape from the insanity... Head to Brooklyn for a seafood tower and a smile.
Possibly the best view from this side of the river...

Wow, I cant say enough amazing things about RHBY. They were extremely knowledgeable, all of the ciders and wine we tried were fantastic, especially the coferment and string theory ciders. Pro tip, get the cider flight. Their outdoor space is ri...

Finally made it to Red Hook Barrel Yard. Went for a cider flight, added food, and ended up staying a lot longer than intended.
The waterfront setting is impressive, as are the friendly, knowledgable staff. We spent a relaxing afternoon watchin...
g ferries and sailboats move through the harbor, with a prime view of the Statue of Liberty, Governors Island, and Staten Island in the distance.
I've always treated Red Hook as one of those neighborhoods that seems harder to get to than it actually is. Turns out it's not. It's surprisingly accessible by public transit, and for anyone coming from Manhattan, the weekend IKEA ferry makes the trip especially easy.
Great drinks, great food, plenty of outdoor seating, and an ideal spot to unwind any day of the week. I'll definitely be back!

Shout out to Tabby, my server, for being fantastic! Views are amazing. Service in the beginning was painfully slow but I think maybe lack of communication between hostess and service? Either way, people that sat 5min after me got water and serv...

The service was so bad, it almost seemed like a joke. I had a reservation this past weekend. Upon arriving, no one was at the host stand. The group in front of us (who had no reservation) told us that the hostess had spoken to them and then wan...
dered off. 15 minutes later… still, no one had returned to the host stand to let us know what was happening. A simple check in to indicate that they were waiting on tables to clear would have been okay. Upon tracking down the hostess, I was told to simply go back and wait in line.
Finally, after getting seated, our meal consisted of repeatedly having to ask our server for water, side plates, and silverware. Multiple menu items were unavailable and we never got one of our drinks that was ordered. By that point, we were ready to simply leave and paid the bill without even bothering to check whether we were charged for it. We had had enough. The whole experience was a bummer considering how beautiful the setting was.
