About this vendor
Based in Saint Louis, MO, The Red and Black Brass Band is a dynamic band, bringing a level of excitement to wedding occasions. For every member, the sole purpose of this music is to celebrate and cultivate an energy that will transform any emotion into pure joy. Embracing the spirit of New Orleans music, the eight-piece ensemble strives to transform your experience into a party you may have never thought imaginable.
The Red and Black Brass Band was created in 2020 after Ben Kosberg and Dominque Burton took to the street to cheer up the neighborhood during quarantine. Drawing from a large online following, they established their group through a shared love for the unifying element of music. Always met locally with smiles and dancing feet, they aim to deliver the same atmosphere at your milestone occasion.
The Red and Black Brass Band are unique for their enchanting blend of powerful horns and smooth singing with various music genres. All of which come together over a signature New Orleans Second line beat. Each member brings their individual style and passion for music, infusing their setlist with a mix of jazz, funk, hip hop, pop, and more. Their wedding packages can include lighting, instrumentals, and music for the rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, and reception.

Red and Black Band was an incredible addition to my wedding as the 2nd Line and cocktail hour music. They were beyond what I could’ve imagined in their talent. As someone who has l...
ived in New Orleans, have been to a zillion weddings with 2nd Lines, and whose wedding guests were mostly from New Orleans, I was worried about finding a decent brass band to do a 2nd Line in Missouri. But Red and Black were better than any 2nd Line band I’ve ever seen or been a part of and literally all of our guests said the same thing.
They accommodated my ideas with them playing the ceremony processional and immediately starting the 2nd Line. They paraded us through my small town where everyone stopped their cars to video them. They knew how to navigate sidewalks and turns and stairs. And beyond how good they were, they were extremely professional in their communication and all the time in their lead up to the wedding day. I am so grateful we had Red and Black as a part of our wedding day.
I can’t recommend this PHENOMENAL group highly enough!! Not only are they consummate performers who can ignite any space with energy, dancing, community and great music, but they ...
are wonderful to work with and so generous and professional in all they do! They are an absolute staple in St. Louis and got so many of us through the pandemic!
They even helped record a “Singing Telegram” for the St. Louis Christmas Carols Association (a local nonprofit I ran for a season) to help us raise money for children’s charities.
Hiring them for your wedding event will be one of your best decisions!
