Rachel Rowland Photography

ld get engaged that I truly wanted Rachel to be our wedding photographer. She is absolutely amazing. Her photos capture real love, beauty, detail, and candid moments. Choosing a wedding photographer is really important. You need to pick someone who you vibe with and understands you. Especially since you’re together all day long on wedding day. When we booked Rach, it was such a relief and a dream come true! I was so nervous to finally meet Rach (because she’s basically a celebrity) when we did our engagement photos, but it was so fun and one of my favorite days in the wedding planning process. She was super personable and played the best tunes and told jokes to get us out of our comfort zones. And the photos … just wow! 🤩 Fast forward to our wedding day in Pittsburgh. It was super chaotic. It decided to rain out of nowhere for the entire day (shocking) and so our ceremony needed switched from outdoor to indoor. Rach rolled with the punches with us and we still took the most beautiful photos outside in the annoying sprinkle weather. Which didn’t even phase us, we were on cloud 9 all day. We somehow didn’t get any portraits of the groom, as it was just a rush of a day, but the memory of seeing him during our first look will be forever in my heart! We actually had the largest bridal party that Rach has ever done! She took charge and got the photos we wanted. I bothered Rach countless times with questions, but she took time out of her busy life to help me make sure my day of schedule was doable. If I changed one thing it would be to hire Rach longer than planned. We had so much fun on our wedding day and through all the craziness, I definitely had the best photographer possible. My heart melts everytime I look at our breathtaking photos. She captured our love, and I am so grateful for Rach. 🤍 Thank you so so much! Love, Rachael & Ben Hartman

ael knows how to manage all types of people, families, good times and the emotional ones. I could write a novel about Rachael’s professionalism, kind heart, thoughtfulness, and leadership. She is our photographer for life. Thank you Rachael ❤️

will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera, play some music, and laugh with you. I am an awe of her energy and her passion for the work that she does. Rachel is incredibly easy to communicate with and adds her own personal touch to what she does (a congratulations on your engagement box, a slideshow with music, and photos delivered fast!). She is the best in the business and you will feel like you have a new friend at the end of the day.

lucky I was able to find Rachel for my special day. Rachel takes amazing photos that capture all the things you experience on your day as well as the things you miss out on so you can catch up on them later. She is so energetic and lovely to be around, I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer.

postponements due to Covid, we finally made it happen, and I felt so validated. Rachel was professional, communicative and attentive. She was also so much freakin fun, running around with her little portable music speaker, and she was so good at putting everyone at ease, wrangling family members and friends for photo shoots. My husband does not like to take photos, and even he had fun. The photos turned out so great - colorful, fun, full of love and natural moments, exactly how we wanted to remember our special weekend. Thank you, Rachel!

Rachel is a goddess - she has an innate gift for making you comfortable in front of the camera and capturing the big moments, the little moments and everything in between. A one-woman hype squad, she will have you laughing and enjoying every moment of your wedding day. My husband and I never look better than we do in Rachel's photos - and the (only?) upside of COVID is that we will have a chance to have even more photos taken with her this year during our reception.

s is how amazing Rachel herself is! We had SO many friends and family members comment on how much they loved Rachel.. and they hadn't seen a single photo yet! They loved that she made taking pictures fun, and she played music and made them dance and made them just feel comfortable and relaxed. We were excited when she arrived on wedding day because we had already had so much fun taking our engagements photos with her. With Rachel you are going to get the most amazing photos AND you are going to laugh and smile and have so much fun doing it. We can't recommend Rachel enough!

acular. She capture every special moment of our day and I felt that my husband and I personalities just shined through her photos. She was an absolute joy to work with. I felt like I was hanging out with a girl friend. Her personality is just contagious and had us laughing the whole day. Our wedding day is a day we will treasure forever and thanks to Rachel we have the most amazing photos to look back on. We cannot thank her enough!!

thing stress free. She's extremely easy to deal with, creative, and FUN. I can't imagine using anyone else to capture important milestones and moments moving forward!

rking with Rachel. She is genuinely invested in you as a couple and truly wants you to have the best day and memories you can have, regardless of how things are going weather wise, family wise, or planning wise. What she cares about is showing your love through images, but also helping to ensure you have the most perfect day. My brother and sister in law got married before I did. They looked around the whole country to find a photographer. They now wish after being a part of my wedding, that they had worked with Rachel and want her to even retake some of their photos! And she was right here, locally on Pittsburgh the whole time! I’m not much of a bragger, but I praise Rachel over and over to everyone I know, about how amazing she was. I have so many images post wedding and am still having a hard time choosing which to put in an album because they are all SO AMAZING. I found her through friends who had also booked her for their weddings and have only heard the same thoughts and feelings that I also experienced! It took me a while to write a review because of so many changes that happened post wedding, but I wanted to make sure I communicated my experiences at some point. You cannot go wrong by booking a Rachel! She is the absolute best!!!

delivered. Rachel is personable and exuberant, which made getting our photos taken feel fun, instead of like a chore. She has a keen eye too, and her sense of style is very sharp. Additionally, she skillfully ensured she got shots of everyone, including us (the happy couple), the bridal party, and family members. Not only that, given the flurry of excitement on our wedding day, she captured so many moments we didn't even see, so when we reviewed our photos, it was like we got to live our wedding day over again. It was so special. Rachel even drove out to Pittsburgh to our wedding venue north of Philadelphia to photograph our wedding. We were so appreciative she was willing to do so. Yet another reason why we strongly recommend Rachel Rowland to all newly engaged couples looking to check "Photographer" off their lists - this one is a no-brainer. Thanks again, Rachel!

e moment we first connected, Rachel has been available, very responsive, and able to answer any single question we had. When chatting with her, it’s like she was already inside our heads ready to bring our vision to life, and she truly exceeded our needs every step of the way. We knew we have any other photographer to capture our day! We initially had planned to do a woodsy engagement photo shoot, but unfortunately the weather had other plans. That being said, Rachel had the perfect alternative, that still gave us the woodsy feel we were looking for! She even was kind enough to capture our pups - and she did an awesome job (they couldn't stay still!) Regardless, we have our new favorite family photo! She truly has a way of capturing emotions, and is able to bring you back into that exact moment.  During both our engagement and wedding shoot, Rachel made us feel extremely comfortable (knowing we are far from models!!) During the wedding, Rachel crushed the timeline, was extremely flexible, and made sure that we were taken care of throughout the day. When receiving our teaser, Nathan and I got a glimpse into each other's day leading up to the ceremony (and felt like we were there!!) - because Rachel is that damn good.  Our entire wedding party could not stop raving about how much fun Rachel is - and made all our photo shoots during the day an absolute blast. Our families loved her, too! She was able to capture every single request they had - and more! We're beyond excited to share the moments with all our family and friends!  We cannot wait to call Rachel to help us capture every big moment in our lives from here on out! Thank you a million times over, we couldn’t have pictured our day without you!

ured the genuine emotion and excitement and happiness and chaos and behind-the-scenes and heart-stopping moments throughout the entire day that told our story so clearly and accurately about who we are to our very core. Everything about our wedding photos emulates our personalities so well. Rachel is kind, spunky, and amazingly talented at what she does. She is witty, makes fun of herself, and plays fun music while dancing with the bridal party. Her easy-going spirit makes you feel comfortable and natural, but she also provides you with just enough guidance to get “the shot”. We absolutely love our wedding photos. We cannot wait to look back at these every single year and feel the cathartic rush that comes with seeing the happiness and emotions we felt on that day.

ever cherish. She has the ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable and have fun which meant that we could just relax and enjoy our day. From the moment we started communicating with her, Rachel's attention to detail did not go unnoticed. She is responsive, kind, and really shows up for her clients. Rachel's talent and love for what she does is so evident that it makes me want to be better at what I do. She has found her calling - and she is SO good!

we wanted. Not only is she incredible at taking and editing photos, but she is also incredible at giving direction and making her photo subjects feel totally comfortable in front of the camera. On top of her talent, Rachel is just an all-around awesome person to be around--she is uplifting, energetic, and such a blast to spend time with. We will forever use her for our professional photo needs.

portfolio to see that first hand. What I can tell you beyond her work is that she is just an amazing human being. And on your wedding day, you want amazing people surrounding you! I had my initial phone call with Rachel and after an hour I hung up and looked at my fiancé and said "I found our photographer and I think maybe my new best friend." That is just Rachel - she will make you laugh, feel relaxed and capture the most unbelievable photos of you on your big day. When I got our photos back, I laughed and cried. She didn't know any of my family or friends, but somehow captured all of their personalities perfectly. Don't make a mistake and hire an amateur - seriously don't. These photos are going to be something that is treasured for generations to come. Everyone at my wedding - parents, bridal party, etc. - kept commenting on how great Rachel was and how she kept everyone in line and on time, while still having a blast the entire day! We can't thank her or recommend her enough!

uch heart and talent in what Rachel does and we could not have made a better choice. The day of the wedding Rachel came in and it was as if we had known her forever - she makes you feel so comfortable, and for someone who is usually not very comfortable around a camera, she and Jerry made you feel like it was completely natural. We are so beyond grateful that they were a part of our wedding day and that we now have the most perfect photos to hang in our home forever.

Rachel asked for a lot of detail regarding our family, our vision, our wish list, etc. to ensure that she is providing what my husband and I really wanted from her services. Fun fact - our limo broke down from the church to the destination where pictures were going to be taken before the reception, and Rachel 100% stepped up to the plate and saved the day with an impromptu Plan B. The pictures turned out AMAZING - But honestly, I was just as impressed by how quick on her feet she is and how willing she is to go above and beyond for her clients. Nervous brides, laid back brides, type A brides, etc. - RACHEL IS THE PERFECT CHOICE! Thank you, thank you, thank you, RR!!

wedding leave that night. Aside from marrying my husband and having our closest family and friends there, Rachel was BY FAR the best decision we made. Our bridal party and families raved about how wonderful she was - individual and group photos were so organized and quick. The way she gets everyone to relax and laugh is just amazing and it really shows through in the photos she captures. It is so, so clear that Rachel was born to do what she does and loves what she does - she is incredibly talented and so fun to be around. I am so happy we chose Rachel to capture all the special moment on our wedding day and can't thank her enough for the amazing photos we now have to cherish for the rest of our lives and generations to come.

n with her and it was so much fun that we couldn't wait for the wedding! She's so energetic and easy going. She makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera. Our engagement pictures were absolutely stunning and we’re obsessed with our wedding photos! Not only did she capture gorgeous images, but she also captured all of the emotions and beauty that existed in that moment. Looking at these photos allows us to relive every single moment and feeling of our wedding. Rachel is so funny and kindhearted and is absolutely the best of the best. There aren’t enough words to describe how wonderful she is and how thankful we are for her capturing memories that we’ll cherish for a lifetime!

hen it came time to pick a photographer, we took one look at Rachel's work and fell in love. There was no need to look any further because the happiness and warmth she captured in every single picture was breathtaking. She brings true emotion to her photography and creates an unforgettable experience for her clients. She honestly turns ordinary into magic and is an expert in her field. Aside from her professional, unparalleled talents, she is the most genuine, funny, kind-hearted, humble human I've met in this industry. She makes you and those around you feel so at ease and makes everyone's natural beauty shine in every shot. She fit seamlessly into our wedding day as our photographer and friend. THANK YOU RACHEL for shooting our engagement, wedding, and what I'm sure will be many other pivotal moments in our lives. We LOVE you and will cherish the photos you took forever (on our walls and hearts :))

moment. I'm so glad that we were able to book her for our engagement photos and our wedding. On top of that she does a great job making you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. She didn't waste a moment and got all of the shots on our list (which was extensive). My only regret is that we I wish we had booked her longer!

xcellence. She truly is the best in the business. When searching for my wedding vendors, I was extremely picky. I wanted someone genuine, someone timely in their emails, someone compassionate and someone who made me feel at ease. Rachel encompasses all of these qualities and so much more. On top of her photos being absolutely breathtaking, she's likely one of the funniest, kind-hearted and creative people I've ever known. From the moment I met Rachel at my sister-in-law's wedding in 2015- I knew she was something special. She's so full of light and energy, and it certainly shows in her work. She was born to be in this line of work- for real. When I met her and saw her work, I knew I HAD to have her for my own wedding. From the moment my fiancé and I got engaged, my mind immediately went to "when can I call Rachel and book her?!?" Choosing Rachel to capture our love story was the greatest decision we ever made. And we look forward to having her capture even more special moments in our life. Because let's be honest, you simply cannot find someone better than her. We love you Rachel! Your talent is simply out of this world. <3

at ease, and it really shows in all of the photos. Looking through our photos truly brings back all of the emotions that we felt on our wedding day and we are so glad that we had Rachel there to capture everything!!

that I didn't even notice. She was really fun to work with, and made us feel so comfortable. We definitely, definitely recommend!

rfects candid emotion in a way most wedding photographers can't. All of that aside, she's a pleasure to be around and tell's great dad jokes. I couldn't recommend her services more!

o know her and Rachel created the most beautiful images! On our wedding day, Rachel utilized the small window of time that we had for pictures by knowing exactly where she wanted everyone to be, stand, and pose, and she directed us all with professionalism. Her personality and sense of humor helped to make it a fun and enjoyable experience! We received our fully edited photos in only 3 weeks during her busiest wedding season! We will recommend Rachel to everyone we know and can't wait to use her again when our family expands!

the camera, and gets some absolutely amazing shots. She's incredibly talented, has an excellent knowledge of great locations around the Pittsburgh area. Don't even bother looking up photos on Pinterest, because she'll take so many awesome photos! I cannot recommend Rachel enough, I feel confident we'll be using her for the rest of our life events!

nding a significant amount of time with your photographer, and being able to feel comfortable around them is essential. Rachel and Jerry have this uncanny ability to be able to make you feel comfortable and yourself around them, which shows through in every photo that they take. The photos showcase your true personality and never look posed or unnatural. As soon as we got our photos back it was amazing how much you felt as though you were back in that moment again, just because Rachel and Jerry were able to capture so many emotions and experiences in each photo. We seriously could not be happier! Not only are Rachel and Jerry amazing photographers, but they are such wonderful people and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to everyone I know!

orking with feel at ease. Our bridal party and families loved both her and her husband Jerry! They captured every detail of our big day and made sure our 'formal' pictures were done quickly and painlessly! My husband and I got our online viewing gallery back very quickly and I haven't stopped looking at the pictures since! Be sure to call Rachel as soon as the ring goes on your finger - anyone would be extremely lucky to have her capture all of the memories at their wedding! :) :) :)

and her husband the consummate professionals, they were so much fun and comfortable to be around. As for the pictures, they are simply gorgeous. It is obvious Rachel sees the world with an artist's eye and there is love in what she creates. Her pictures tell a story. I'm glad they told mine.

achel and her husband Jerry work hand in hand and complement each other not only as husband and wife, but as professional photographers. Rachel's eye for capturing the special moments and Jerry's eye for detail make for fantastic pictures. My husband and I felt totally comfortable in front of the camera with Rachel after spending a Saturday morning taking engagement pictures. The wedding day was like seeing an old friend when Rachel arrived excited as can be for our big day. She fit right in with our bridal party, parents and guests. My bridal party loved spending the afternoon with a FUN photographer! I look forward to working with Rachel in the future to capture the special family moments for years to come!

mily received. There were many times throughout the day when she would ask us to pose for a photo, and it was something completely different than anyone in the wedding party had ever done before, and Rachel just said, 'trust me, it'll look great'. We had already seen the engagement photos Rachel shot for my brother and sister-in-law, so we knew what she could do, and we knew that trusting her was a no-brainer. The results were nothing but absolutely unbelievable and stunning photos. Rachel was able to capture the soft, beautiful, special moments of the ceremony and the crazy, fun, energetic dancing at the reception. Throughout everything, she remained amazingly fun and constantly professional. If you want creative, beautiful, quality photos, I could not imagine a better photographer than Rachel Rowland.

ll be a treasure in our lives forever when we look back on our wedding day. She captures the real emotion and details of who you are. She is incredible to work with and open to any suggestions. I will go to Rachel again and again for any photography we need in our lives.

hhh - Rachel and Jerry Rowland - they really know how to capture the true essence of the picture without a need for "posing" - they make you laugh and feel at ease so that they can capture the most "real" moments in their photography. Rachel Rowland is truly amazing and has an incredible ability to make everyone feel at ease. She captures love and laughter, which is the core of my relationship with my husband, DJ. She and her husband have not only become a major part of our wedding day but have become great friends along the way. Again- thank you for all that you do.

ess to the schedule. They are funny, dynamic and professional. I have been in weddings where the photographer really takes away from the fun of the day and dominanates the schedule/inserts themselves in a way that you aren't able to enjoy the moment. Not the case with Rachel! She has a way of doing her job while being as invisible as possible. The result is flawless, candid, creative photos. She makes sure to get every picture that you want but where she really shines is when she does her own thing and captures moments that will BLOW YOUR MIND!!!! Can't recommend enough, oh and my album...STUNNING. Yes, yes and yes.

e would be our wedding photographer, I was admiring her work from afar. Okay - I was totally stalking her site all the time. Her photos capture more than just your classic stoic/standing/super traditional look. She assesses each setting, group of people, mood, character, vibe - whatever you want to call it - and makes something beautiful! She is able to bring out the best in people, not only by just making them smile, but really show casing who they are. I never knew that so much could be said through a photograph. As well as just being a phenomenal photographer, she is a great person too! (What a plus, right!?) She's fun loving, genuine, encouraging, and just really makes you feel at ease. I didn't feel the slightest bit nervous or awkward being followed around by this smiley woman with a camera all day. :-) And finally, another important thing to note is her upstanding professionalism. She puts so much time and care into your work, and doesn't take any short cuts. She takes the time to get to know you and what you're looking for, and then delivers it! I am SO thankful for Rachel's wonderful art, our photos will be treasured for decades, hopefully shown to our children and grand-children! Rachel is a true artist, and I wish her great success in her career. (Now this is me giving a round of applause and a giant hug to Rachel! ...clap clap clap!) Also, Rachel took our engagement photos as well (included in your wedding package), and we really had a blast doing that! It was mid-November, and even though it was a bit chilly, we found some gorgeous scenery and everything turned out wonderfully.

who was not super happy to have to pose for photos for an hour and a half!), and they turned out beautifully. At our wedding, she was incredibly professional and did such a good job capturing all the little moments from our wedding. We ended up with such a good mix of serious, happy, goofy and (slightly) tipsy photos - I can't recommend her enough!

d chatting over a cup of coffee to make her your perfect decision. Truly! From the first time you sit & talk with Rachel you start to get a sense of the passion she has for life. And believe me, that passion comes through in everything she does. Rachel has a way of getting to know the bride & groom so that she (and her 2nd shooter, husband Jerry)can capture the true spirit of your wedding day. In fact, you will soon feel that she is not only the photographer, but a friend of the family. From the first 'getting ready' shots, to the first look, and everything else through out the day, they not only took amazing pictures but they truly were able to bring the emotions of the day to these photos. Over and over, those who saw my daughters wedding pictures made the same comments: "You can feel the love" in these pictures. They just seemed to know where to be & when to snap (And remain completely hidden at the same time)and we ended up with a wedding album that I don't think can ever be matched. Period. Rachel comes with her own unique & creative ideas, and incorporates your personality into each shot and you end up with real treasures! So you can shop around for just the pictures, or you can choose the 'photographer'. So we (everyone at our wedding) would encourage you to choose Rachel Rowland.

f you choose Rachel Rowland photography!! She's the best!

knew we made a great choice. Each time we flip through our engagement and wedding pictures, we remind ourselves how Rachel is the best photographer in Pittsburgh. Rachel and Jerry were fun and easy to work with throughout the entire process. We would most certainly recommend Rachel Rowland Photography to anybody in the area. The final product exceeded our expectations. Out of all the vendors participating in our wedding, we were most pleased with our photographers.

ith and receptive to our idea of how we wanted out wedding. Now our only problem is picking which ones to print!

ed at websites for all most every Pittsburgh photographer before deciding to contact Rachel based on the high quality and artistic value of her photography. She has an amazing talent to read people and surroundings that turns into the MOST beautiful photos! She truly captures moments in time and I couldn't be happier with my chose to use her. The fact that she is fun, friendly, professional and just an absolute joy to be around is icing on the cake! I think most of her couples consider her a friend after one session working with her. I know I will be using Rachel for years to come as we grow our family and I am so happy that to have such a great resource for AMAZING photography and a new friend!

to consider them for our wedding. When reviewing their blog, we were amazed by how genuine their pictures looked! Picking Rachel (and Jerry) to be our engagement/wedding photographers was one of the best decisions that we made in planning our June 1st, 2013 wedding. We are 100% satisfied with the service that we received. They are relaxed, organized, funny, and consistently capture beautiful and intimate moments while making the entire process FUN! Of all the photographers that we considered, Rachel Rowland Photography was the best fit and, shockingly, the most affordable. We 100% recommend their services for your photography needs. -Mark xoxox Lou

able quality and little to no imagination, and then there were artists whose photos were creatively framed, carefully thought-out, and showed a skill with a camera that produced excellent quality. I was also looking for an engagement shoot so that I could get to know the photographer and have photos to use to announce our upcoming nuptials. Understandably, all of the "artists" I looked into charged more than what we had budgeted for photography, and those that were within our price range were merely "ok"- some included engagement sessions, some did not, others charged extra for a second shooter. THEN I FOUND RACHEL!!!! Her photos are artistic, creative, timeless... her husband joins her for wedding shoots and she includes an engagement session at no extra cost and gives you full rights to the files to re-print, post and distribute as you choose. She truly offered everything I was looking for, no strings attached, and best of all, her rates were just within my budget. I snatched up her last opening in June and never looked back. Just before our big day, Rachel provided me with a form to fill out detailing what shots I would like and what details I definitely didn't want overlooked so that on the day she was prepared and didn't have to me or my bridal party a million questions! I was even able to share a pinterest board with her of some of the styles of posed photos I liked and she picked up on my aesthetic right away and found ways to work my ideas into our portraits. On my wedding day, Rachel was cheerful, friendly and focused. She is the perfect "people wrangler" and she even got our little cousins to smile for the camera! She and her husband are experts at going with the flow and even helped us out a couple of times when little things went wrong during our day! It was an absolute delight to work with her and I would highly recommend Rachel to any Pittsburgh area brides out there who are looking for a modern and classy photographer who puts you and your day first!
