Purple Fern Photography

o over my wedding day timeline and made adjustments where needed. I didn’t hire a wedding planner so the timeline had me flustered but Sarah was very reassuring and helped me with all the kinks. You can tell that she loves what she does and that was very important to us when choosing a photographer because it shows in the quality of her work. Her attention to detail, creativity, and style is out of this world! My husband and I are awkward and not photogenic but she made us feel comfortable, laugh a lot and directed us- thank goodness! If you want a personable, helpful, detail oriented and creative photographer.. then Purple Fern Photography is the place to go! It’s worth every penny to have Sarah capture your special day. I know we will cherish these photos for years to come and we couldn’t be happier with the quality of care and work Sarah put towards our day.

hen looking for a photographer, because there were a lot of talented photographers out there whose work I liked, but for some reason didn’t love. When I came across Purple Fern Photography, I knew I’d found the one. Sarah is so creative and talented, and we fell in love with her work. Her style is so romantic, and slightly moody, which is the exact vibe we were going for. Sarah did our engagement photos, our wedding photos, and even boudoir photos for me to give to my husband. Not only are the photos absolutely stunning, we had such a blast during the shoot. Sarah has a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, and it really shines through in the photos. She also provides a lot of direction, so if you’re not sure what to do with your hands or how to angle your body, don’t worry about it - she will help you pose in a way that looks great, feels comfortable, and looks completely natural. She also has a wicked attention to detail, so if you've got something on your shirt or there's a cell phone in your pocket, she'll catch it so it doesn't end up ruining the photo later. She's just amazing! Aside from all of that, Sarah is incredibly sweet and funny, which just added to the joy of our wedding day. After working with her, you won’t just have amazing photos to remember your special day, you’ll have a new friend too. Even our guests were saying how much they adored her. After all was said and done, our photos came out absolutely incredible, better than we could have ever imagined, and we will cherish them forever. Bottom line, I cannot recommend Purple Fern enough. We love Sarah, and plan to continue to work with her for family photos for years to come!

hotos. We get SO many compliments on them. I’m certainly not comfortable being in front of the camera or having all attention on me but Sarah’s energy and excitement for what she does definitely made a huge difference. She was able to get genuine laughter out us at our engagement shoot and was really great when we asked to bring our dogs as well. My husband also has a hard work schedule and she was very patient and flexible with us through the process. We would definitely recommend Purple Fern!

which was just so creative and awesome. She went out of her way to accommodate my schedule since I live out of town. She gave me honest advice whether it was styling, timeline of wedding day, or other vendors. On the day of the wedding my family and bridal party absolutely loved her. She got me the wedding and engagement photos back in LIGHTING speed. That woman works! I felt like I could trust her and she actually had my back. I would recommend her to everyone I know that not wants a wedding photographer, but baby or family photos... you should see her "Kiddos" photography ... it will bring a tear to your eye. Sara is just a rare, special and kind person. You will be missing out if you don't hire her.

at you and your spouse will obsess over for years is a "must," then book Sarah. If you think a truly gifted photographer is also an artist, book Sarah. If you are a detail-obsessed freak who can't imagine anyone else caring about those things as much as you? Book Sarah. If you and your future spouse are stiff and weird in front of the camera, book Sarah. If you want a teammate in creating the design and palette of your wedding, book Sarah. If you want your photographer to advocate for you and your vision day-of, book Sarah. Yes, you can find less expensive photographers in the Winchester area, but they won't be Sarah, who is worth every penny. One more thing... Sarah and her second shooter's work was SO amazing, our wedding was featured in a "Weddings of the Year" issue of a local magazine. I think Purple Fern Photography was about 95% of that :)

er got married, I wanted her to be my wedding photographer. Sarah is so easy to work with. She is reliable and funny and has a way of making one feel at ease. She will make you laugh while working her magic with the camera. Investing in her as my wedding photographer was one of the absolute best decisions I made for my wedding. Her style is so distinctive and moody! She knows how to use the light to her advantage, how to get the all the best angles, and how to make her clients feel comfortable and confident. Also, Sarah is not only an amazing wedding photographer! She takes fantastic family photos, mother and baby photos, engagement, and very classy boudoir photos. She truly goes the extra mile for her clients and treats them as friends. As her client, I felt truly cared for and valued. Sarah was a wonderful addition to my wedding. She is fantastic, and I will always be grateful to her for capturing that special day in our lives.

e’ve gotten so many compliments. Sarah’s creative eye and artistic style made our pictures so special. They’re truly works of art and we love all of them so much. Her attention to detail and natural light is impeccable. Not only are her picture amazing, but Sarah is so enthusiastic and fun to work with! She made us feel comfortable in awkward positions through her sense of humor and little games. She also gave us great direction, which resulted in amazing photos. Sarah made us feel like models when we were taking them and it was such a blast. Sarah helped with our day of timeline and I’m so glad that she did. We were able to fit in all of the pictures that we wanted before the wedding so that we could enjoy visiting with our guests during cocktail hour. Sarah and Carla agreed to stay an hour later into our wedding celebration which we were so thankful for. We got behind schedule and that extra hour made all the difference. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience and will definitely be using Purple Fern in the future!

my husband and I feel so comfortable! We had such a good time running through fields while she caught some gorgeous shots! When I was still obsessing over our engagement session our wedding came along and was the best day of both of our lives! And Sarah captured it so perfectly!! I'm dying to get them all printed to fill my house! Not only did Sarah deliver amazing shots she delivered them so quickly!! My husband and I both highly, highly recommend Sarah! (She is also the SWEETEST person to chat with)

made us feel comfortable and at ease. It’s extremely hard to get a natural smile on command from my husband but she has a lot of tricks up her sleeve that made it easy for both of us to smile. It poured from morning to evening on our wedding day so our outdoor plans went down the drain, but she was quick to find spots at our reception venue that we could take pictures at. She also had a quick turn around time. She has a great artistic eye. She picked the most unlikely spots for our engagement pictures but they worked! When looking at several photographers, we couldn’t tell some from others. However, Sarah’s pictures were full of color, texture, and detail, which we love! Most other photographers pictures are so bright that it washes everything out. We definitely recommend her for weddings and other important milestones! THANK YOU SARAH!

urn around time. With the package we also got an engagement shoot. It was so helpful to meet her and actually do a photography session before the big day. This gave us the chance to get to know her so we were comfortable during our wedding pictures. Sarah took the time to make sure we got the perfect shots on our big day. We went to multiple locations at our venue to get the best pictures. She got perfect formal portraits, and candid pictures that I will cherish forever. She was great to work with in the planning process also. She was always easy to get in touch with and very responsive to questions. I am an over-planner and she was willing to go over our timeline multiple times until I felt comfortable. I am so glad we used The Purple Fern for out wedding photography. I would recommend her to everyone, and will definitely be using her for our other photography needs!

ut she gave us great direction and the images truly reflect who we are as a couple. I was so impressed with the turnaround time as well. We got our amazing images in no time and they were beautiful. Sarah is an amazing artist, and with her images she tells a story. Seriously, I can’t say enough good things about her! This will be the best investment you make. It’s your visual legacy, and she will surpass your expectations.

ment and wedding shoots that she had taken. The way she captures the natural lighting of any area is truly beautiful. My husband and I were so calm and comfortable during the entire engagement/wedding picture-taking process and it was ALL because of Sarah. She was so awesome and easy-going from beginning to end that it made it easy for us to be us. She was able to guide us and give directions without making us feel awkward in any way. I am over the moon in love with our wedding pictures! Both our engagement and wedding shots are everything that I could have hoped for and more. Sarah is a true artist who captured our day beautifully. I'm in love with every picture that was taken from the small detail shots to the crazy dancing action pics. We cannot say enough good things! Thank you, again!

tely followed her on Facebook and was captivated by her photos. We ended up doing an engagement session and she was so professional and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. When it came to our wedding day she ran around like a maniac getting all the photos I said I had wanted and more! Our wedding photos are absolutely, drop dead, stunningly gorgeous. I have to space out when I look at them online because I literally cry every time!!!! She captured all of the emotion on our perfect day! We were overwhelmed at the amount of compliments we received not only on the photos but on how great Sarah was on the day of. If you are still looking for a photographer for your wedding/engagement/family photos/pregnancy announcement look no further, Purple Fern is the answer you’ve been looking for!!!! I HIGHLY recommend her and her services, plus who else can say they got their wedding photos edited and back to them within DAYS?! No one I know :D

o not like how I look in photos, but I love every single one of our wedding and engagement photos!!! Sarah was the best at making us feel at ease. Our photos look so natural even though I know they're the result of all her hard work. Plus she's so creative we got so many shots we didn't even know we wanted. I've received so many compliments on our photos and I just can't recommend Sarah highly enough! She definitely has a style all her own and she's worth every penny! I can't wait to work with Sarah again the next time I want professional photos! Sarah - we can't thank you enough!!

photos. After talking to my fiancé, we just knew we had to have photos by Sarah and ended up booking a couples session with her! Our experience with Sarah was so great even before we actually met for the shoot. She was very responsive, answered all our questions, gave us tips and even helped us with styling our outfits! By the time we met Sarah on the day of our shoot, we already felt comfortable and felt like we knew her. The entire photoshoot was magical. That’s literally the best way to describe it. I told Sarah from the beginning that we really wanted golden hour photos in an open field and that is exactly what she delivered - just 100x better than what I could’ve ever pictured it in my head. The day of the shoot was one of the hottest days of the summer so far (95 degrees and humid). I was worried how the heat and humidity would affect my make up, our hair, and us just being sticky and sweaty overall. However, shooting with Sarah was so much fun and we laughed so much that we barely thought about the heat. Sarah is so talented, creative, and has such an eye for art and photography. She will go above and beyond to make sure she gets the best shot. She posed us and guided us throughout the shoot but still wanted us to be natural and be ourselves. Now, let’s talk about the photos! Sarah delivered our photos the very next day! Her turnaround time was insane! My fiancé and I were speechless looking through our gallery. She literally gave us our dream photos and we are forever grateful to have these beautiful photos and memories. She did such an amazing job capturing our emotions. We were in awe by how natural and effortless we looked. We looked like we were just laughing and playing around and happened to be caught on camera candidly. None of the pictures looked too posed or stiff. We are so happy with the results! Sarah - we can’t thank you enough and can’t wait to take more photos with you in the future!

res your personality in the images she takes! Her professionalism and hard work reallly show off when she is working with you. As a semi-professional photographer myself, I was looking for the best around to shoot my wedding and I chose correctly with hiring Sarah. She made me feel confident and beautiful in every shot she took, making sure angles were right to flatter both me and my husband. We allowed some extra time in our wedding timeline for portraits so we were able to play around and get some beautiful shots, which, if you were on a crunch wouldn’t be able to get! Over all, I’d recommend The purple fern to everyone I know!! Thanks again for everything you have done!!!

h. Not only did she listen to us and was so much fun to work with, her work is AMAZING. She captured every important moment of our wedding and surprised me with some wonderful shots that I didn’t even knew occurred. Our perfect day was made even better by her.

Orleans, so we didn't get to meet Sarah before the wedding day, but we texted and Skyped to get a feel for each other before booking and kept in contact in the weeks leading up to the wedding. When we actually did meet, it was great--no awkwardness, just fun, like we had known each other forever. We took photos outside in December and it was FREEZING, but Sarah kept things fun and it didn't feel like work or uncomfortable at all. The outside portraits of my husband and I are my favorite photos of the day. Everyone at my wedding told me that they loved Sarah, and people LOVE the photos--you can't get these kind of photos from any photographer. Another plus--she had all of our photos to us less than 2 weeks after the wedding! She kept me in the loop during the editing process and sent me sneak peaks to tide me over. I literally told my husband that when we have a baby we have to make a trip to the DC area to get Sarah to take family portraits. Purple Fern is the best decision we made for our wedding (you know, other than marrying each other) and I can't recommend Sarah enough!

on our photos, saying that they were some of the best wedding photos they have ever seen!

n. The day of the wedding went so smoothly, and was so well orchestrated by Sarah. My husband, family, and I had beautiful portraits done with excess time for bridal portraits. Sarah's style and creativity was what attracted me to her, but I can honestly say the lasting experience of working with her on my wedding day was what I was most pleased with! Not to mention I'm in love with my photos! <3 Thank you Sarah! And everyone should be lucky enough to have a Sarah!

time!) The colors are so deep and magical! Our photos look completely different than any other wedding photographers I have seen and that's exactly what I wanted! It looks like we stepped right out of a foresty fairytale. Definitely worth keeping her around during the reception as her and her partner caught so many amazing candid shots of our guests that allow us to continue to look back on the night and see how much fun everyone had celebrating our love!

d definitely use her again!

not feel like work, and she had so many creative ideas!! We got all of our pictures so fast and we are still drooling looking at them a month later. Sarah will definitely be our family photographer as long as she continues with photography!

able and natural from the get go. Her punchy personality brings out the true character of her subjects (even those that are not comfortable in front of a camera,me hahah.) Sarah captured the most magical moments of our wedding. Little gems that will live on forever.

ver shot and always found spontaneous ways to put a smile on our face. She was such a joy to be around and really helped make each moment last a lifetime. I fully recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a photographer to capture their special day and the love shared between couples.

y loved how weeks prior she was texting me with different ideas she had for our portrait session. Her bubbly and easy going personality made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. I look forward to working with her for future family/maternity sessions!

memories. Sarah at Purplefern Photography is one of the most talented photographers I have ever met. She has such an eye for detail and style that I would never think of. She will go the extra mile for that one of a kind shot. I know that I will be using her for any and every possible photo shoot in my family’s future. Call her! It will be the best decision you ever made!

w to make us look good : ) Sarah has such a unique and artistic style to her photography that makes everything look and feel like a fiarytale. I am so happy she was able to shoot our special day and could not be more pleased with the photographs. I highly recommend her and she will be the first one I call for any future photo opportunities. We can't thank you enough Sarah!

e. Her style is beautiful, and you are guaranteed to get unique, personalized photos that other wedding photographers do not offer.

. I remember taking her a set of beads to make a necklace and earrings for my high school graduation- that meant so much to me. Imagine how sweet it was to have her take my engagement and wedding photos so many years later! Sarah’s photography style speaks to my soul—the dark and moody tones, all the trees and foliage, and glowing golden light. Photography was one of the most important things to me out of the whole wedding, the thing I was most picky about and what I prioritized in my wedding budget. I think it’s safe to say there are few people I’d trust to take my engagement and wedding photos, and Sarah definitely was at the top of that list. Sarah has a gift of making the most simple things look so freaking pretty, like sitting in grass on a blanket or walking through a field. She made our engagement shoot so fun and relaxed at our favorite location. I’m so glad she includes an engagement shoot in her package! On our wedding day, Sarah beautifully captured everything I could possibly want: the “first look”, the emotions, the formal portraits, and the crazy dance moves. You can tell she puts her heart and soul in all that she does. Her ability to be funny and calm throughout the day was a huge help. She made me laugh when I was going to cry or when I looked too nervous in pictures. She remained calm and saved the day when my bridesmaid couldn’t get her dress to zip. Sarah was so much more than just a great photographer on my wedding day and words cannot express how in love I am with these photos! Thank you, Sarah!

tion and style is unlike any photographer I've worked with before. In addition to her talent, she is a pleasure to work with. Her warm and positive personality were so appreciated on our special day.

os and ensuring us all the crazy stuff we were doing was worth it and I mean WOW was it worth it! She encouraged us to be silly and real so you could see the personalities in the photographs. Our photos turned out breathtaking and we've received SO many messages and compliments about how beautiful our photos are. Sarah is so unbelievably artistic, passionate, and unique in this industry and I'm so glad I discovered her. I will recommend her to anyone and everyone and cannot wait for our wedding in April!!!!

r second shooter Rachael) as our photographer was easily one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She made the day that much more special – we loved having her be part of our day! She captured such beautiful, magical pictures that we will truly cherish forever. We couldn’t have been happier and would recommend The Purple Fern to anyone!

orking on their bigger events (such as weddings), but there is really no difference in their quality of photography. I can't wait to work with them again!
