Every bride deserves to feel heard, seen, and beautiful—and that begins long before the final fitting.
I’m Shirl, the heart and hands behind Philadelphia Bridal Alterations. When you entrust me with your gown, I understand that you’re also trusting me with your hopes, your concerns, and a moment you will remember for the rest of your life. I consider it a privilege to care for you through this part of your journey.
With more than 30 years of experience, I specialize in bridal alterations, gown transformations, and custom-designed formal attire. My work requires an understanding of gown construction, proportion, and how a dress should fit and move with your body. From refining the fit to making more extensive changes, I give careful attention to the details that help your gown feel comfortable and look beautifully finished.
My experience also includes collaborating with bridal designers on custom couture projects, including fitting a custom gown prototype for an internationally recognized bridal designer. I bring that same thoughtful approach and attention to detail to every bride who places her trust in me.
Your fitting is time set aside for you. You deserve to ask questions, share what you love, and feel comfortable saying what doesn’t feel quite right. I listen closely and explain the recommended alterations so you understand how each change will help bring your vision to life.
You can also count on my honesty, always offered with kindness. If something isn’t giving you the fit or look you’re hoping for, I’ll tell you and walk you through the options. Together, we’ll consider what is possible while respecting your personal style and the design of your gown.
Patience, integrity, and a heart for serving others guide my work. You and your gown will receive my personal attention, from our first conversation to your final fitting. My hope is that you feel as cared for throughout the process as you feel beautiful in the finished dress.
Along with brides, I welcome bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and groom, and clients preparing for prom and other special occasions. Services include alterations and original custom designs.
Philadelphia Bridal Alterations has earned more than 55 five-star reviews on Yelp.com, along with exclusively five-star reviews on Google—reflections of the craftsmanship and personal care I strive to provide.
This is more than a dress—it’s part of your story. I would be honored to help you step into that next chapter feeling confident, heard, seen, and beautiful.
