We used Ooh La La salon for 6 bridesmaids’ hair, MOB makeup, and the bride’s H&MU. All of the services came out looking amazing. However, the wedding day timeline was very poorly... planned by salon staff, resulting in 2 hours of lost time on the wedding day!!! We had written our target arrival time at the wedding venue in our salon contract, and the schedule was discussed in detail during the H&MU trial. We agreed the goal was to finish services 30 minutes before we needed to depart for the venue (only 15-20 min away, so we left extra buffer) and the salon’s scheduling coordinator told us what time to start services. You want H&MU to be as fresh as possible on your wedding day, so we were disappointed that all services were finished 2 hours before our planned departure for the venue. Even worse, the salon owner, Dawn, gave us 15 minutes notice that we needed to leave the salon earlier than planned. So, we were left with nowhere to go (we couldn’t get into our venue early and had driven a long way from home), and our H&MU was not nearly as fresh as we expected on the day of the wedding. I never would’ve agreed to the schedule that the salon owner imposed on the day of the wedding. Unfortunately, the salon hadn’t provided us anything in writing about the schedule, so we had no recourse.
The bottom line is that our hair and makeup looked great when it was first finished, but the H&MU timeline is super important, and clients are completely dependent on the salon for this. Other salons can also do great H&MU and Ooh La La can’t be trusted to manage the schedule, so you’re better off using a different salon on your wedding day.
