My husband and I were very happy with Onyx Artists as our jazz band for our wedding in August. We wanted to avoid having a conventional DJ at all costs and Marie and her team truly...
delivered. What we ended up with was a swanky, classy New York wedding that was elevated even further by the beautiful music.
From the beginning Marie was extremely responsive (no needless waiting) and proactive - to the point where we did not have to chase or worry. The band's repertoire is quite extensive and they can perform classics like Sinatra, to Michael Buble, and Bossanova. Marie and her team were also extremely personable and friendly in person.
Do not hesitate to book this band! You won't regret it one bit and the videos on their website and youtube really attest to their musical talent. Five stars all the way! An absolute delight to work with.
I have 3,500 words to tell you about the only wedding band in the tristate area that you'll ever need to book. 3,500 words is not enough. But I'm really going to try.
Simply put:...
There should be ten stars.
There should be one hundred stars.
There should be ONE THOUSAND STARS for this incredible team and their service.
Our wedding delivered the singular best music that anyone had ever experienced at a wedding. I mean, at any event. This band was UNREAL. We are musicians ourselves, so I felt that the only place we really *needed* to deliver was the band. Josh assembled a team of superstars. They were able to do a Hora (!!), play low key music, groove music, dance music.
The band was simply... fantastic. They were able to field my crazy parents whose requests changed every three seconds, and were super seamless in their communication with our wedding planner. Most of all, they took this bit of the insane stress of wedding planning off of my shoulders, and gave us a memory I'll never forget.
I really can't recommend them highly enough. Whoever you're considering, just... do yourself a favor and call Josh and Marie. I STILL get calls about the band from our wedding, 8 months later. You'll thank me.
The Speakeasies were absolutely incredible for our fall wedding in Carmel-by-the-sea! They made our wedding reception so special and their talent was off the charts. The entire b...
and was super personable, versatile, and energetic from start to finish. We are so thrilled we picked the Speakeasies and would highly recommend them for your next booking.
Our experience with Onyx Artists and particularly Oh La La (who played at our wedding), was absolutely exceptional. There's only so much you can plan for a wedding and at a certain...
point you just have to trust that people will show up and do the job well and Onyx and Oh La La were such professionals from day one. What they needed for music and song choice and when they needed it were crystal clear, communications were flawless both with us and with our other vendors, we felt totally comfortable talking with Marie about any concerns we had and the music - man can these guys play! We gave them our song choices (we had 3-4 in the package we had purchased) then mentioned we'd be doing a horrah and that a recording would be totally fine, but they insisted they'd do it live, even though we'd used up our requests, and played the best horrah our guests had been a part of. More than a few of the covers we asked them to do as well weren't easy ones (This Must Be the Place - Talking Heads, "We like this jazz piano song but could it be just acoustic guitar, no vocals, kind of like..." - they nailed them. The best thing you can do when working with Onyx (and you should book Oh La La) is to give them what they need and then step back and let them work, they're so good at what they do, read the room so well, and are genuinely committed to making the event a success. We're so incredibly glad that we were able to work with them, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.
After listening to the artists on the website we decided that Oh La La was the best fit for our wedding. We had no idea just how amazing they would be. We were worried that the mus...
ic wouldn't be danceable enough, but were so wrong- our guests were dancing the entire night; our friends and family continue to rave about the music ! We requested a few songs and the renditions were incredible, and very special. We are so happy to have found Oh La La and completely reccomend working with them!
The Speakeasies absolutely blew our minds! Everything from start to finish was so simple and thorough and Josh and Marie from ONYX were so sweet and professional every step of the...
way.
From the initial emails figuring out what the best options were for us- to talking us through all of the questions we had along the way and always being so quick to respond to all of our emails/texts- I’d absolutely recommend ONYX Artists for any event you need a live band for.
We had them play for both a seated dinner portion and a dance set and they were both perfect. Classy and not too loud when we needed it mellow and so fun when everyone got on the dance floor. We got so many compliments and we’ve just been looking for any excuse to hire them again :)
Josh was great to meet had great conversation before the gig and was super professional on stage and off. I would highly recommend booking. Already considering booking for differen...

ept them singing for a lot longer ;) Easy to work with, great sound and style. They even learned a few songs just for us. Definitely recommend.
Oh La La was simply amazing. If you're listened to any of the videos, then I don't need to tell you what a wonderful voice Marie has. She and her bandmates were beyond talented and...
she made planning a pleasure (no small feat since we were doing so from abroad)
Oh La La kept us and our guests dancing all night and their performance made our wedding that much better. What other band do you know that would break into "Everybody Walk The Dinosaur" when a guest gets on the dance floor in a dinosaur outfit?!
Onyx Artists provided all of our wedding music needs for our wedding at Brooklyn Winery: a harpist (Pia) for the ceremony; a 3 piece jazz band for cocktail hour; Oh La La (5 piece ...
jazz band with beautiful vocals by Marie); and a DJ for the dance party (DJ Big Vic). I cannot imagine our wedding day without this incredible team of musicians. Every detail was literally perfect, and several guests commented on how unique and tasteful our wedding music was. Marie was our point of contact, and she was absolutely a pleasure to work with and SO SO talented! I cannot review highly enough!
The Big Woozy Band were very professional, and all the musicians were particularly sweet. But more than anything, THEY KEPT US DANCING FOR 4 HOURS STRAIGHT!!! Ernie, the lead singe...
r, has the most incredible voice, it's like there's nothing he can't sing. They were the secret in the recipe that made all the difference!! Communication with Marie from the agency was a breeze, and everything was set up very quickly, and easily. Thank you Onyx and thank you the Woozies! Couldn't have dreamt for a better band!!
Marie and Onyx Artists are absolute perfection. We had a quartet play our ceremony and cocktail hour, and our guests were raving about them! We fell in love with Marie's voice, and...
the band's arrangement of all our requests turned out beautifully. This was also the best customer service I received from any vendor during wedding planning over the past year. Marie was flexible with all our requests, responding to questions promptly, scheduling calls to talk through our ideas, and visiting the venue. If you want a classy, unique, and beautiful choice, work with Onyx Artists!
Oh La La is absolutely amazing. They are supremely talented and wonderful to work with. We did our research carefully, and you'll get MORE than you see in their demo videos online....
At our reception we didn't quite have it altogether with the schedule/coordination, but Oh La La expertly fixed all that by extending songs and waiting for new cues. Marie stayed in touch with us throughout the process. Don't think twice about booking them for your event, look no further than this band especially if you love Jazz and French music.

Ohlala was absolutely amazing for our wedding! They not only sounded wonderful but really went above and beyond to make the day special.

edding night even more magical than we imagined. Choosing a band over a Dj was a big commitment, with Marie Michele and Oh La La we never regretted this decision. Marie is great at staying in touch and getting the details set for your special day. The band was currently on tour and flew in specifically for our wedding, this band is high in demand and it shows, they are great performers and very professional. I highly recommend them and I hope we get the chance to hire them again in the future!
We were so lucky to find Marie and have Ohlala play at our wedding.

ition into the evening dancing. Marie was kind enough to sing for us walking down the isle.
Without a doubt Marie and the band made our day the memorable occasion that it was and I hope to be able to have them sing for us in the future.
They did an amazing job on my wedding! High recommended!
Professional, talented, fun - Marie brought a unique energy to my wedding's Friday night welcome dinner and cocktails.
a very sultry and smooth band. just what I wanted for my cocktail hour. Marie is very accommodating.
Definitely liked by all and a lovely addition to my wedding.
Thanks so much!
We recently had the Oh La La jazz band and another Onyx Artist male vocalist perform the music for our Brooklyn wedding reception and they were FANTASTIC! They had the perfect blen...
d of various jazz selections--from classics to more modern pieces. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, from our friends (late 20s to early 30s) to our families and older guests. They were great at reading the room and keeping the music soothing and enjoyable during dinner to turning up the energy and getting EVERYONE on the dance floor and keeping them there through the end of the night. We couldn't have been happier with our choice to go with Onyx Artists. They are all such talented and fun musicians and really know what they're doing at a wedding. Their renditions of Valerie and Superstition stole the night! Thank you again!!!
We hired Bellatonic as our band for our wedding ceremony and reception, and hired Marie to play the piano during the band's breaks. It was one of the best choices we made when plan...
ning our wedding - they were fantastic. Throughout the whole planning process, Marie was wonderful to work with; she was always quick in her responses and was very willing to work with us. Cara, the singer for Bellatonic, Skyped with us from Europe to talk to us before we even booked her. Cara and Marie worked with us to generate a playlist for the night that was based on our favorite songs, and took careful note of the fact that we wanted them to read the room to figure out what to play next - we didn't want dance music playing if no one was getting up to dance! Cara MC'd the wedding and did a perfect job, and Bellatonic learned special songs for our ceremony and first dance. People were saying all night how amazing the music was, and we're getting comments about it weeks later. If you hire Bellatonic, definitely hire Marie to play during the breaks the band takes - it was a really nice touch for our guests. We will be hiring Bellatonic the next time we need live music for an event, and will be recommending them to all of our friends with upcoming weddings (although we think the ones that were at our wedding don't need any further encouragement to book them!). They really made our wedding special and we can't thank them enough for the amazing job they did.

Oh La La band was the perfect fit for our venue, we were looking for music like Marvin Gay, James Brown, Aretha, Al Green, oldies but goodies and they delivered it! I play drums and there were many musicians and music addicted to our wedding which could not stop saying how cool was the band. Mary also worked with the bride on a special performance the bride did and it was great! If you don't care for top 40 and you are looking for a talented live band to play jazz, bossa nova and blues, I'd recommend them in a heart beat.
Marie Davy and her band were one of the best investments we made for our September 2012 wedding. There are no words to describe their incredible talent and stage presence.
Our ...
venue had a vintage, elegant, and sophisticated aesthetic and they elevated it to another level. They made an already gorgeous ambience and setting simply *magical!*
Marie performed our three special requests so perfectly... I am amazed at her and her band's versatility to take any song and make it their own yet still keep its integrity.
Marie herself is a beauty with a sweet soulful voice and a smile that can light up an entire room. We loved them and would recommend them to anyone!
Oh La La! was everything we wanted for our wedding. We wanted our day to be a refreshing change from all the weddings we have attended in the past few years. My wife and I were tir...
ed of DJ's blasting horrible music so we were looking for something a bit more intimate and romantic. Marie and her band really helped bring the day together and exceeded our goals. I think every guest in the room had complimented the band throughout the day.
My wife and i are both musician's by trade and we had about 20 guest that play on, sing, act and dance on Broadway and they all were blown away by these guys. If we did our wedding over 1000 times they would be playing for us everytime.
I thought they were very professional and sounded fantastic, I am happy to write this review for them.
