I'm Aaron, the founder of Northern Lights and Music. I'm a lifelong musician and industry veteran, an avid audiophile and educator. After over a decade of managing venues and curating events, I transitioned to DJing (and teaching middle school!) in 2022, and I absolutely love it. I've culminated a wide set of skills as a collaborator, and I'd love to hear about your vision for the big day.
I'm reliable, well-resourced, and easy to work with. I make time for multiple touch points with my clients, and I'm open to all levels of input. I've curated events in churches, museums, on farms, in theaters, public parks, block parties, backyards, and more. My experience in event production has made me a seasoned navigator of day-of-variables, and it's given me a good eye. I ask questions and see opportunities that not all couples or DJs think of.
I am a polished and intelligent professional that relies on great choices of music and good energy rather than vocalizations or loud crowd engagement to set the tone. I don't bring a DJ-sized ego to weddings. I curate my presence around my clients' vision, their families and friends, and simply bring experienced support.
During the school year, I typically only take weddings on Saturdays. Feel free to ask about events on Fridays or Sundays during the school year even if my calendar shows unavailable (I will see what I can do.) I'm a graduate of several Slam Academy classes, including Sound Design, DJ Technics, Vocal Production, and more. I'm also a middle school teacher in Oakland, CA: I teach sixth grade! I love being a part of the next generation's path forward. It keeps me humble ;)
I've been married for sixteen years myself, and I absolutely adored my entire wedding day. Full disclosure: I still cry a lot at special moments. I hope you'll consider reaching out -- I'd love to hear about your vision and how we can work together.

As someone who's worked in the wedding industry for many years, I've seen a lot of DJs, and Aaron is one of the good ones. He has an incredible knowledge of music, but what impress...
es me most is how well he reads a room. He pays attention to the crowd instead of just playing through a playlist, and he always seems to know exactly what the moment calls for.
Aaron is also just a genuinely good person to work with. He's easygoing, listens to his clients, and brings a great energy without ever making himself the center of attention. If you want someone who knows music, understands weddings, and keeps the party feeling natural and fun, I'd recommend Aaron without hesitation.

Book Aaron for your special day!
You can take it from me as the bride that Aaron is the way to go when hiring your wedding DJ. I got connected with Aaron through a personal recomm...
endation and from day one, we felt everything was going to be done well. I have been to a few weddings in recent years where unfortunately, the main topic of conversation was the bad DJ. Aaron will not be that for you! He took our requests seriously, played the music we wanted to hear and avoided all of our no-plays with no questions asked. In addition to the music, the entire reception was organized by him. He helped us create the timeframe for cocktail hour, dinner, speeches, first dances and the rest of the party. Let's talk about that party! Genuinely some of the best few hours of my life. As the bride, this was one of the most important parts of the day for me. I didn't leave the dance floor for roughly 3 hours with the exception of a bathroom break. The energy was perfect and the flow was beautiful. Aaron will be a great addition to your wedding day!
Response from Northern Lights and Music
What a great review! Thank you so much, Lydia, thanks for trusting me with your big day.
