About this vendor
I am passionately committed to one thing, and one thing only… Weddings!! And more specifically, capturing the story of your day. I’m an artistic photographer who focuses on the unique moments and beauty that will only ever exist on your wedding day. I’m not focused on following the latest trends, and I don’t use presets or filters, because I genuinely want every one of your wedding photos to reflect the true experience of the best day of your life.
My Values
Every week, I get to meet people from all over the country, and sometimes from all over the world. I get to see people at their happiest, when they're surrounded by their closest friends and family. I get to see people when they're nervous, when they're emotional, when they're ecstatic, and maybe even a little intoxicated (or a lot). Week after week, seeing people in these revealing moments, one thing becomes very clear - we have more in common than we realize. There's more that unites us than divides us.
Equality and inclusion are core values of my business, and I will always be honored to assist clients of any race, nationality, age, gender, religion or sexual orientation.
My Advice
Your photographer will be an extremely important part of your wedding day, and you’ll probably spend more time with them than anyone else. Choose a photographer whose work you love, AND a photographer you genuinely like. Ask questions and get to know them. I promise you, it will make a difference on your wedding day. I’m sincerely grateful for the friendships I’ve gained from each and every one of the weddings I’ve photographed, and I love seeing so many anniversaries on Facebook and Instagram, and being able to say, “It was an honor to be a part of their special day!”

John is one of the nicest photographers I’ve ever worked with, after spending over 10 years in the wedding industry. I’m technically competing with him for business so that should ...
speak volumes for my writing this review. His work is excellent and he’s got amazing vibes and treats his staff well. I would trust / hire him to work for my own family members.
John was absolutely wonderful! While it took a bit of time to receive our photos, the wait was absolutely worth it!!! On the day of our wedding, John and his team were experts at c...
apturing all sorts of magical photos, from posed to candid, without bothering our guests or making us feel overwhelmed. My wife and I were shocked when we received the pictures - neither of us have ever felt more beautiful, and it's all thanks to John. The portfolio was the perfect combination of natural moments and dramatic shots. John and his team made us feel like celebrities the day of, and Disney princesses in our photos. Highly recommend!
To us, photography was our #1 Priority for the wedding.
After looking at different options and interviewing several photographers, we decided to hire John to do the job.
Why did ...
we go with him?
- His quality of work showed.
- He was very meticulous during our interview call when he went over the process and the way he worked.
During the job (the wedding and engagement pictures), John was very professional, courteous, and had great ideas for the pictures.
The pictures turned out beautiful, just as expected.
The downsides would be:
- Be prepared to wait months for your pictures. 4 months and a half for us.
- After the events, communication gets sloppy.
As a tip, be very SPECIFIC about what you want in the pictures. We worked really hard on all the small details and decor and we weren’t able to see them on the wedding day, so we were excited to see them in the pictures, and well...long history short, we don’t have pictures of that (bouquets, champagne wall, seating charts, welcome table, flowers).
So in a nutshell:
- Great to work with during the events
- Amazing pictures
- Takes time to get your photos
- Prioritize communication
I knew the second I connected with John on The Knot, he was going to be the one. John and his team were extremely professional and were super great about being diligent and on time...
to ensure we kept on track with our wedding day timeline. We worked together in order to figure out how to maximize our time with our guests rather than taking pictures for 2 hours. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about John and how awesome he was at capturing photos. John’s quality of work is exceptional and it was very important to me that he does his own edits. The quality definitely shows in his pictures. We were grateful to get back additional photos than he mentions at booking. All in all, John is super humble and really knows how to make you feel special while photographing your event. John comes as highly recommended and I do truly believe that after having him capture our special day.

ng and is so very kind! John and his team will provide everything you need on the big day. He always responds to all of your questions and calms your nerves about anything you may need! I will always recommend John Moody and a wedding photographer for anyones big day!
John and his team were absolutely wonderful to work with for our wedding. I do not second guess one decision I made with our wedding partners and John was no exception. He took the...
time to ask questions, get to know us, our relationship, and what was important for us to capture from our day. I know there were a LOT of other weddings on their list but he always made us feel as if we were the only one. I would ask John a million times over again to shoot our wedding. Get yourself a photographer like him that works cohesively with all your other wedding partners (his amazing wife and planning extraordinaire, Ashley, Brandon Shabazz, and Dave Kemper to only name three) and it will be a day that you can enjoy and remember.

ng party (even all 7 children aged 8 and under) to get some great shots! When photographing me and my husband (still hard to believe we’re married!), John made us feel at ease and comfortable in front of the camera!! He showed us a few sneak peak pictures and we were both so amazed!! I can’t wait to see all the pictures he captured of our special day!
John is THE best photographer in town and my husband and I are lucky to have found him. From the initial phone conversation, to the day of the wedding, and even after John was sup...
er helpful and responsive. We admired his wealth of knowledge and experience for the venue we chose and how prepared he was to shoot our wedding ceremony.
John also works at the speed of light to capture every special moment and knows exactly what comes next. He effortlessly anticipated the special moments in our ceremony, which was held in Spanish, and made sure that we had photos we could look back at with joy.
His kind, fun and down to earth personality will help bring the best smile in you (as it did with us!) and he will keep you elated with positive affirmation throughout.
Thanks to him we have incredible memories of our wedding day that we'll cherish for years to come. Don't think twice about choosing John as your photographer!
John is the most incredible wedding photographer hands down. He did both our engagement and our wedding day photos and we cannot believe the amazing shots he captured. He is incred...
ibly professional, knowledgeable about the shots we wanted and needed, and put everyone at ease during the post-ceremony photography. Several family members commented on how positive and excited he was about capturing the moments of our big day. We were so lucky to have him as our photographer. John has an incredible eye for what will make the best shots and helped us through each photo session to make sure we were comfortable. He captured our love, our special moments, and our goofy personalities and family. We cannot say thank you enough to him.
From the first time we met John, we knew we had met someone special. We connected with him right away, and after our initial meeting 1.5 years ago, we were honored to have John as ...
our wedding photographer. He made us feel at ease, comfortable, and special on our big day. John is professional and personable, and we can’t say enough great things about him. He captured our love and all of the special moments from our wedding day. Thank you for making our vision and dreams come true.
WOW! What can we even say about working with John Moody that hasn't already been said? John truly is a treasure to the Texas wedding community. We found our way to John through his...
wife (our wedding coordinator) Ashley Moody-- Ashley Nicole Affair.
John was amazing from the first time we spoke to him. We knew immediately that he was our photographer. His kindness and his genuine love of weddings truly shines through his work! There is beautiful photography and there is Moodyography. That goes above and beyond just engagement and wedding photography. It is truly something more. From engagement to bridals, working with John was absolutely one of the best wedding decisions we made! 2020 was quite a year, one that we won't forget. We are so thankful for John and his friendship. Even with the curveballs that this year threw at us this year, John did everything to make sure our day was captured beautifully. We can't thank this man enough for his dedication to weddings, to us, and every couple he works with.
I cannot even believe how lucky my husband and I were that we found John. He is an absolute joy! He is such a kind, fun, and overall delight of a man. Just an absolute pleasure to ...
be around. He is the BEST hype man you will ever find. And he is an incredibly talented photographer to boot!
My husband is not particularly comfortable being the center of attention/being in front of the camera. John spent extra time and effort to make sure he felt completely at ease. And the result was gorgeous photographs that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
John went above and beyond for us in every session, every text conversation, and every phone call. You can hear the excitement in his voice when he talks about his craft, and you can feel how much passion he has for working with couples in everything that he does. During our engagement and wedding sessions, John would frequently suggest locations, out-of-the-box poses, and fun sequences in order to capture moments we wouldn’t have remotely thought of.
He took his time to get to know my husband and I as a couple, and as a result every photo we have from our engagement session and wedding are completely unique to who we are. He was able to capture our relationship and our love so beautifully. And for that we will forever be grateful.

cuss what we wanted and hear his professional thoughts on our photo shoots for engagement and wedding day. He even got the groom comfortable to take a photo shoot with the bride and very rare too to have the groom take photos.
I spent a lot of time looking at different photographers and trying to figure out what vibe I wanted. I wasn’t into the washed out look or the super dark moody pictures (although b...
oth beautiful In their own way). I just wanted classic non cheesy photos that captured the moments. I told him I didn’t want him running around like 007 and trying to hang from a ceiling to get the shot. He was amazing! What a great personality to work with. Everyone raved about him! He will be your Hype man.
John was so great to work with! I had a phone meeting with John back in August of 2019 for my October 2020 wedding and knew that John was going to be a great fit for us and our wed...
ding. Before our wedding John had another phone call with us to make sure we had a photography plan in place and didn't miss out on any photographs. John was amazing and so easy to work with!
John was so kind and fun, which made him so easy to work with! He photographed our wedding and made the process seem like a breeze. We can't wait to see our full gallery. He was ve...
ry easy to communicate with and understood our vision. There are so many photographers in the industry, but John stood out to us because of his style. Oh, I should also mention that his wife is a wedding coordinator. They worked seamlessly together. John also worked amazing with our videography team. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Every time I tell people about our amazing photographer the words I always use are "hype man". I left every occasion with him (engagement shoot, bridal shoot, rehearsal dinner, and...
wedding) feeling absolutely fantastic and like I nailed every shot and every pose. You can't not have a good time when your photographer takes a few shots, looks at them, then fist pumps and says "oh my god - perfection"!
From our first in person meeting at our engagement shoot, John made my husband and I feel completely at ease and worked within the bounds of what we were comfortable with. He was helpful with poses and finding gorgeous spots for our photos. He talked us through each shot and what he was looking to accomplish, and the time flew by.
For every shoot, John was always open to any specific shots or details we wanted to get into our pictures - and of course always came with so many great ideas and expertise. His enthusiasm and attitude were things that my whole bridal party commented on - he made taking photos in formal wear in 100 degree weather quick and fun! I cannot wait to see all of the amazing photos from our big day!
From our initial phone interview and through multiple shoots John was the same caring and enthusiastic professional. He was always quick to share some teaser shots after each so that we had something to look back on, and they just make us more excited to see the rest! John and his teammate Dani were a perfect pair on our wedding day - book Moodyography now for your special day!
John was fantastic. From the pre-wedding test shots, throughout the rehearsal dinner and wedding John did fantastic work getting the shots without ever being in the way (...and ve...
ry nicely letting me know when I was in the way!). Dani was also fantastic. I can't wait to see all of the photos as the few i have seen have been outstanding. My daughter spent so much time planning and preparing for this wedding during a very difficult time. Having someone like John to help guide her through the process that will allow her to relive this glorious day over and over again was extremely helpful...and calming.
If you want a photographer that works for "you"...be sure to hire John and Moodyography. You just can't go wrong with this decision.
A very pleased mother of the bride.

ended up being closed to visitors due to covid - John didn't hesitate for even a second and made some phone calls to arrange for a different location that evening (that I think was even better than our original plan!!!). John was so kind, funny and made us both SO comfortable! We are so lucky to have gotten to shoot with him!!

uests (such as the morning after photo) which John got exactly how she wanted and she’s thrilled with the results. John is very enthusiastic and pleasant to be around. I have been a groomsman in a half a dozen weddings and John is head and shoulders above the other photographers i have personally experienced and would highly recommend him to anyone.

rapher. He has a great way of interacting with every couple from the consultation, to the day of. By the end of the wedding, he will have his couples, their family, and guests talk about how wonderful of a person he is and how great he is at his job. He has the ability to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera, who usually are self conscious. He also provides an amazing finished product and all of his galleries are flawless!

e. We (the bride and groom) absolutely loved working with John and our family and wedding party kept going on and on about how great our photographer was. He made sure to have our complete list of must-have photos in advance and nailed them all. He also got our photos back to us much sooner than I expected, which was another great surprise. And we are so in love with our photos! We could not be more happy with the end-to-end experience with Moodyography, so thank you John for everything you did! Everyone should book him.
And another great perk of booking John - his wife is also an amazing wedding coordinator and they work so well together, which made my wedding experience so much better overall. So book Ashley too (Ashley Nicole Affair)!
John was INCREDIBLE for our wedding in the hill country. Besides his obvious talent, what makes him exceptional to work with is his thoroughness, patience, and ability to listen. W...
e spoke on the phone and met in person prior to our wedding, and he remembered every detail regarding what pictures were most important to me. On the wedding day, his positive and calm demeanor made our entire experience that much better. He wasn’t bossy, demanding, or impatient — even with the large group shots! (We had 20+ people in our wedding party). He was intentional with the edits on our photos, and I love how he used the natural light. I would recommend John to anyone and everyone!!!
We used John for our wedding in November and bundled him with Ashley Nicole Affair coordination and we couldn’t have been happier! In addition to wedding photos, we did an engageme...
nt session with John as well! The day of the wedding John arrived on time and was really thorough and kept our timeline in mind as well, I was super impressed! He was the most helpful photographer by helping me pose correctly for photos and even moving my thick train on the dress for photos so that they looked perfect! After our ceremony, we knew there wouldn’t be a ton of daylight left and John was amazing with getting as many portraits of us and with family and friends during that time. I loved that he was able to wrangle the family and friends for photos, but also wasn’t afraid to say hey we’ve gotta keep it moving while also being really respectful about it. We received sneak peek photos shortly after the wedding within a two weeks or so and received the rest of our wedding photos 3 months after the wedding. That being said we got married Thanksgiving weekend during busy wedding season and December is always gone in a flash. We absolutely love the photos and they were TOTALLY worth the wait! Would 100% recommend John for photography! :)

throughout the whole night. We are in love with our wedding pictures! He captured every moment perfectly! I highly recommend him!
I could go on and on about how great John was during our wedding day but also throughout the whole wedding planning process! We got married in November and John (and his wife Ashle...
y who was our amazing coordinator) were one of our favorite parts! John was extremely personable and communicative from the very beginning. He made taking pictures before and after the ceremony so fun and easy (I usually am NOT a fan of taking pictures). He is professional but also hilarious and easy going - he really goes above and beyond to make the day great for the couple. He is creative and obviously enjoys what he does. Book with Moodyography and you will not be disappointed! Our pictures turned out lovely and his editing is beautiful but natural. You also get a full digital gallery with rights to print whichever you choose (without a watermark which is a nice little plus). We love John!

ng himself with the venue. All of this attention to detail came across in the photos we got back. He captured the true spirit of the wedding ceremony with all the personal and intimate details and nailed the emotion of the reception with great candids! We highly recommend John and Moodyography to any couple looking for a photographer to capture their special day!
To speak volume on how much my wife and I value John as a photographer; he photographed our engagement, wedding, and now pregnancy session! He not only is a top notch photographer,...
but also has a genuinely caring heart. For example, towards the end of our engagement session with John, our car broke down and it did not start back up! John not only stayed to make sure we were okay but drove to a nearby gas station to get us drinks and made sure we got a lift back home! During our wedding, John made sure that we were comfortable and made sure he got to know everyone important that was apart of our wedding to capture personable photos. Turn around time for the wedding photos were also very fast! If you want someone that has professional standards but also friendly/personable demeanor, John is the person! I recommend him with the highest regards.
