About this vendor
Hey!
I'm Matt and I'm based in Denver, Colorado and moving to Charleston, SC in early 2022. I've been working as a wedding photographer in the Rocky Mountains since 2013. My photography is best described as photo journalistic. I want to create photographs that make you look stunning and will make you reminiscence on those moments for years to come. I'm inspired by street photographers, movies, and everyday life.
I believe that your wedding day is more than our time we spend together taking pictures. It’s about the moments you spend with your loved ones. The memories shared on the dance floor. It’s your parent giving their special piece of advice during speeches. It all matters to me as much as it matters to you.

Matt is awesome. Me and my husband were so conscious during photoshoot but still Matt brought that magic in our pictures . All are friends and family loved the pictures. I def reco...
mmend him and in future I need any photoshoot def coming back to him
There are not enough outstanding remarks I can give for Matt Speck Photography and the photos he took of my husband and I. But here is my attempt at it...
When my husband and I we...
re married two years ago, we had our original wedding photos done by a photographer who turned out to have no experience and it showed in the pictures. Shadows everywhere (you couldn’t see our faces in most pictures), no artistic thought to how the pictures were taken, and absolutely no attempt on this individuals’ part to get to know us or tell our story. To say the least, I was devastated. It took me two years to look through our wedding photos again and finally get past my anger, frustration, and sadness in order to reach out to someone and ask to recapture a small fraction of that experience for us. However, this story does have a happy ending...Insert Matt Speck.
After talking with Matt about the vibe we were looking for and the location we wanted, Matt took it upon himself to check out multiple locations that could be our backdrop, including being there at the time of day we would be shooting to determine if the place would be perfect (I mean, come on!) When we met in person, he was the most laid back, kind, and professional photographer I have ever met. It was easy to spend the afternoon with him as he made my husband and I feel so comfortable, like we were old friends. You could actually see his wheels turning when he was thinking about the next shot he wanted to take, and there was so much thought to every shot. His artistic eye is pure, unique, and unmatched. We ventured to countless spots on the trail and had so many different shots taken, I was blown away by how many different places we went.
When we had finished, I was hopeful that we had gotten some frame-able shots, but when our photos arrived a few short weeks later, I was truly blown away.
Looking though all the pictures for the first time, I had tears rolling down my face, but for a very different reason from the tears I had after looking at our wedding photos two years earlier. They were incredible and breathtaking. I think about now being able to show these to our children and grandchildren, and Matt is the one to thank for these priceless photos. I cannot recommend Matt Speck enough, and am already imaging him capturing photos of our family in the future.
When searching for a wedding photographer, we were immediately drawn to Matt's unique style. His perspective and ability to capture motion stood out amongst the crowd.
As we got ...
to know him, however, we realized that he brings more than just great photos to a celebration. His guidance on timing, planning, and general organization of the greater event was helpful in finalizing our plans. He's overtly attuned to the wishes of his clients and contributes meaningfully to the manifestation of their vision. The night of our wedding, he took command of his role to capture the images that mattered. He was a crucial part of the night and I'm glad he was there, both as a photographer and a participant in the celebration.
We have a remarkable digital album that shows the essence of the greatest celebration of our lives to now. I recommend Matt to anyone looking for a photographer for any occasion.

t he does! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.
Matthew Speck did a fantastic job at our wedding. With his journalistic style and creative eye, he captured some amazing and unique shots that we couldn't have gotten with your ave...
rage wedding photographer. We had our reception in an industrial area in Denver's RiNo district, and Matt managed to find all the coolest little corners of the area for photos.
Matt traveled with our wedding party all day, and we found him easy to get along with with the perfect combination of a laid-back, fun attitude and being kindly assertive when he needs to get everyone together or ask a stranger to step back from the shot. He had a palpable excitement about capturing each moment, and we felt well taken care of.
I'd recommend Matthew Speck to anyone looking for a present, authentic, comfortable and talented photographer.
We LOVED working with Matt. He has an artistic eye for photography and his images speak for themselves. My husband and I could not be happier with our wedding photos.
First off I know this isn't a "wedding" review, but Matt did such a great job with my family, I wanted his future brides to know about his family photo skills too. Matt did some li...
festyle photos of our family after our second baby was born. He captured the craziness of “two under two” and I love that the backdrop for the session was our home, because we moved shortly after. Such a treasure to have these photos to remember such a special time in our lives! Matt took the time to shoot in several different situations, and it was a lot of fun working with him!
This past November(2018) Matt came to North Carolina to photograph our wedding. I cannot overstate how impressed my wife an I were with his work. He was professional and patient th...
e entire time. (Not always easy with my family). He brought a great energy that made our guests want to have fun and take photos.
We received our photographs in a very timely fashion and they looked great! We could not be happier with them. Hopefully I won't need a wedding photographer again, but if I did, it would certainly be Matt!
Matt was the perfect choice for our wedding. He was awesome about meeting with us before and learning about what our expectations were. When the final product came, he absolutely b...
lew us away with what he captured. He created incredible photos that we will cherish for years to come. We are obviously biased, but even friends and family can’t stop commenting on how amazing all of the photos came out. The only real downside, we don’t have nearly enough wall space for all of the images we want to frame.
Matt was absolutely amazing on the day of our wedding! We have never had professional photos taken before and we really worried about feeling awkward or too posed, but Matt kept ev...
erything light and didn't make anything feel awkward or forced. He also got so many amazing candids throughout the evening, that we are seeing moments that we might have otherwise missed. We also included our dogs in our wedding and Matt was amazing about getting great shots of the dogs with us and just them throughout the evening! If you are looking for a photographer who will keep you feeling relaxed and laughing and will get great both natural shots and shots that play with light, shade, etc., then Matt is absolutely your guy! Thank you for everything, Matt!
I would reccomend Matthew a 1000 times over to any other bride and groom looking for a wedding photographer. Matthew was attentive and and showed he cared about our exprience as we...
ll as our photos. He made sure that we had time to enjoy our wedding and didnt make it feel like we missed anything because of photos. Every one of our friends was raving about our photos when we finally posted them.

n me and my husband to make sure we were doing good. He has a great visions for photos.
There was one moment were he was taking my husband and me off to do private photos while everyone was still eating. As we were walking away, and far from everyone else, our DJ accidentally started to play our first song mixed in with the dinner music. Of course I started to freak out a bit, but Matt right away calmed me down and said that we could have our first dance right there, under the lights by a creek. He was able to capture a beautiful private moment with me and my new husband and I wouldn't of had it any other way. He even went and talked to the DJ for me afterwards to smooth things out.
Matt was able to take a bad situation and make it into something absolutely amazing and unforgettable! I can't wait to get my pictures back and will definitely be using Matt for any future photos! Thank you sooo much Matt for making our day very special!
If you're like us, Matt is the wedding photographer for you and I'll tell you why (1) You want amazingly creative photos you can hang in your home and office that will look like AR...
T, like you were the focus of an editorial spread while still keeping it real and documenting all the people and things you spent months planning and dreaming about. HE'S GOT YOU. (2) He will make you so comfortable and do enough prep work with you that you will feel like he's your bro on the day and you'll relax and be your beautiful self in front of the lens. HE DID THAT FOR US AND I HATE TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED. (3) You want someone you can trust to show up, talk nicely to your family and friends, keep things moving, be at the right place at the right time... SEE ABOVE (4) You want to cry when you get your photos back and re-live the parts of your day that you didn't quite get to absorb because you were busy being "on" and trying to take it all in. Plus you only have two eyes. HE WILL GIVE THAT TO YOU, YOU WILL CRY TEARS OF JOY. As someone with a photography and design background who has produced many many photo shoots for television, I half pitied the person we booked, my bar is high for aesthetic and quality, and I'm very bossy (I'm ok with it) HE PUT UP WITH ME, and even better, made me feel so confident that I wasn't even that girl on that day. I found my dream mate, I found my dream photographer, I have ART on my walls AND I LOVE THAT. Thank you for everything, Matt!!!!
Matt was wonderful to work with. He made it relaxing to take pictures and had great ideas for outdoor and indoor photos. When we got the final photos - just wow! We loved the photo...
s so much and am so happy with choosing Matt for our wedding photography.

inionated and have incredibly high expectations.
Matthew Speck did not disappoint.
Unlike most Denver-area photogs who specialize in gag-inducing, Vaseline-filtered, whimsical photos in fields of wildflowers, Matt does beautiful editorial and documentary-style photography. Think Vanity Fair. Not Sound of Music.
Bonus: he’s a super cool guy. Made us very comfortable. Delivered a bunch of photos early to make magazine deadlines etc. Plus, he’s down with the gays. Talented. Fun. Cool. A+
We loved working w Matthew Speck. And we loved his work. I wholeheartedly endorse him.
Lock him in ASAP if he’s available for your date. Trust me.
Matt did an incredible job. He was everywhere he needed to be. Captured the wedding wonderfully!
Matt was absolutely fantastic to work with. He was very easy going and laid back from our first meeting all the way through our wedding celebration. Neither my husband or myself ...
are very comfortable in photos and adding to that general wedding nerves we really thought we would both look nervous and awkward in our photos. However Matts attitude managed to put our nerves at ease and he captured beautiful images. We could not be happier with the outcome! He was great getting images of our guests and reception as well, and multiple people commented on how friendly he was while interacting with friends and family members. You can tell he really does love what he does!
What everyone says is right the day really is over in the blink of an eye, and I am so glad we have the beautiful photos taken by Matt to remember it by!
We love our wedding pictures! Matthew did such a great job with them. He was easy going and listened to every detail. He captured every picture that we could have wanted and more....
Highly recommended!
Thanks again Matt!

ting with him. He has a very easy-going personality, and was able to capture so many once in a lifetime moments that we'll cherish for the rest of our lives.
Matt is a super cool dude and just having him around helped me and my wife calm down and enjoy our special day. My wife and I normally feel awkward in front of cameras , and both consider ourselves to be 'un-photogenic' - but Matt is such a great natural director, and was able to get some breathtaking posed shots as well as some timeless candids.
I would absolutely recommend him to anyone. We shopped around before booking, and he comes highly recommended by other professional photographers as "someone I would trust to shoot my own wedding". His rates are more than reasonable, especially considering how many photos he sent over - and though he shot without a partner, he somehow managed to be everywhere at once! We are still re-living our big day!
Booking a photographer can be such a scary leap of faith – there are so many options, and the stakes are so high. We're so happy we found Matt! If he's available for your special day, book Matthew Speck immediately! You won't be disappointed!
You spend months planning your wedding and then *poof* it is over in a blink of an eye. We knew that when we were searching for a photographer we were looking for someone who could...
capture the love, excitement and beauty of the day. Matt did exactly that. On the day of the event, I was a bundle of nerves, but Matt's calm, collected and confident nature put me (and my wedding party, especially my mother!) at ease. When we received our photos, my partner and I cried all over again because Matt had captured every emotion so beautifully.
I definitely recommend this company to anyone that wants great quality and unique photos. Matt is such a professional photographer and made it so easy and fun to work with. We will...

agement photos in the dead of winter in Estes Park, and I've never had so much fun in negative degree weather. We kept in conversation with him the whole year before the big day. He made the process so carefree and easy. The day of, I had so much fun posing for shots and exploring our wedding venue with him. I could have spent the whole day taking photos. One of my favorite parts of the entire day. His style and technique are consistently amazing across the board, and having someone so reliable and talented on our vendor team made it completely stress free and one less thing to worry about. As a photographer myself I couldn't be happier with my wedding photos. For me, this was certainly the most important aspect of my wedding day, next to the venue and the dress, and I literally didn't worry once about it the entire year. He really delivered. Matthew captured our wedding day in a way the truly conveys the fairytale story we lived that day, and we will remember it that way for the rest of our lives.

to be outdoor and all of our photos were to be taken outside, of course it decided to rain that day but Matt did not that let get in the way. He found all the perfect outdoor spots for us to take photos without getting wet and gave us photos that are out of this world. After our wedding we had countless guest say how amazing he was and once the photos came out we heard nothing but compliments. Ourselves and even our friends and family were blown away with the final product. Matt is the best, you will not be disappointed.
