About this vendor
A historic wedding venue located in Detroit, MI, The Masonic offers couples exquisite settings for both their vow exchange and reception. This flexible building features elegant interiors that provide a classic template suitable for a range of wedding visions and event sizes. The large building is brimming with memorable architectural details that easily enhance a couple’s celebrations.
The construction of The Masonic began in 1920 and it was finished in 1926. It was built to accommodate the growing Masonic fraternities in the city, which had begun to render the original location on Lafayette Boulevard inadequate. Purchasing land on Bagg Street, now Temple Avenue, George Mason and Company created the stunning building that still stands today. The massive complex provided ample facilities, with ballrooms, a Chapel, dining rooms, a barbershop, and much more as part of the original design.
Couples hosting their wedding at The Masonic can choose from multiple spaces, ideal for small and large gatherings alike. One option is the Crystal Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 350 people with room for a dance floor. Another is the Fountain Ballroom, where galas of 600 attendees can take place. The ornate details throughout the building's design are both one-of-a-kind and timeless, lending a sense of sophistication to a wedding. Intricate molding and beautiful chandeliers are just some of the elements that make this a memorable locale. The staff here is eager to help couples mark their milestone moment in a way that leaves a lasting impression. They can also provide catering, bar services, and technical assistance to help make the event a success.

I can’t recommend Masonic Temple more! We got married there on 10/12/24 and it was a fairy tale. The venue has so much history and really is the coolest building in Detroit in my ...
opinion. The venue was very easy to work with in the lead-up and event day. We worked with Angela M. and Ian C. for most of the pre-planning and Erin M. was there for our actual day-of and rehearsal coordination. Brandon L. was with us in the evening. We had a whole CREW taking care of us and our guests all day and night for anything we needed!! Very proactive and one step ahead of us!! A big bonus is that the venue is so ornate and beautiful on its own, so you don’t really need to add much decor. And you shouldn’t! Let the venue speak for itself! The bridal suite is HUGE and also gorgeous, with plenty of natural light for photography and hair/makeup. Since the room is so large I was able to include more family/friends pre-ceremony without feeling overwhelmed and crowded. Our DJ was very happy about their electrical. He was worried since it was an old building that the breakers might flip. We were pleased to find that there are several plugs at the stage that each run on separate circuits, and that they are labeled. He was ready to run cords wherever he had to, but luckily that wasn’t needed. They do shows and events all the time so they’re set up for it. We used their in house catering which was GREAT. You can get your own caterer but we heard good reviews so didn’t bother. Guests raved about the food, said it came out hot and was big portions. No one left hungry, that’s for sure! Geoff at T&M catering was very accommodating and I’m glad we went with his suggestion for mini grilled cheese as one of the appetizers, though simple it’s a crowd pleaser! Got multiple guest compliments from it! Geoff was actually present our whole reception, and checked on us multiple times through the night. We had some guests with allergies and they happily accommodated. A guest who uses a mobility scooter was pleased with how valet and security/guest services treated him. He said the valet staff rushed over as soon as they saw the scooter in the trunk, didn’t let them lift a finger, escorted them thru the nearby accessible entrance, as well as staff helping him throughout the night. A tour of the building was offered as a perk for our bridal party/family. We failed to plan ahead and didn’t get to fully utilize the offer for our whole group, but brought husband’s parents and had a great time learning of the history and falling even more in love with the venue! Another fun detail about Masonic is there are vintage clocks all over the place and they were ALL on time. Can’t stand a wrong clock! Highlights their attention to detail. Great for keeping on schedule without having your phone in your pocket on your wedding day. Cost is average wedding prices for the area/level of service. Masonic is a dream wedding venue for both of us, but we almost didn’t even reach out to inquire because we thought it would be the most expensive venue you could possibly pick. Shopped around for prices & was surprised to see lame & boring venues cost more. Appreciated that they didn’t charge a cake-cutting fee or other surprise hidden charges. Also I saw a recent negative review & can’t imagine how they felt that way…I feel like people that leave negative reviews are the worst to deal with and maybe it was their fault lol. Everyone was SO NICE AND HELPFUL! To us & our guests!
Everything was beautiful! They were so easy to work with and so accommodating. I would recommend this venue for both the ceremony and the reception!
After touring the Masonic Temple's ceremony and reception spaces, we couldn't stop thinking about how perfect it would be for our wedding. This was the best choice I think we have ...
ever made. Danielle, Natalie, Victoria, Angela, and all others who played a role in the planning and execution of our wedding day did a spectacular job. Communication was never an issue. For a venue that hosts weddings every weekend, I was always pleasantly surprised at how quickly we would get a response from Natalie when we had questions. The Masonic always made us feel like we were their only clients, never confusing us with anyone else and always remembering previous decisions we had made.
I know the price tag that comes with the venue is significant, but I believe it's well worth it. It's comparable to most venues Downtown Detroit, but there's just something special about these walls. It feels like a magical place and all the decor and architecture is timeless. Another pro of choosing the Masonic is you really don't need to decorate at all because everything is so beautiful. Our guests raved about how beautiful the chapel and the Crystal Ballroom were. Multiple guests also commented on how professional and friendly the Masonic staff was as well.
Overall they deserve a 10/10 and I would repeat our wedding here again and again given the opportunity.
We had our wedding at the Masonic Temple in June and it was the most perfect day thanks to Danielle, Natalie, Angela, Jan and the entire Masonic Temple staff! For couples consideri...
ng a Detroit venue - I cannot recommend the Masonic Temple enough. Danielle, Natalie and Angela were with us every step of the way through the planning process and made it easy and organized. For couples looking around at venues and who are generally organized/project planners, one of the biggest perks was not needing a wedding planner/day of coordinator because the Masonic Staff had it down to a science. They confirmed drop offs and set ups with our vendors and made sure they knew where to go - truly going above and beyond!
Our 260 guests comfortably fit in the chapel, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception spaces (+ set up for a 12 piece band) and the food, which is catered by T&M Catering, was excellent (filet was a favorite and all the apps were 10/10). The food was served to all our 260 guests hot and in a timely manner. Guests raved about the bar and its selection (including espresso martinis).
The space itself is breathtaking and full of history. Many of our guests were local to Detroit and had never been in this part of the building, so it was a gift in itself to host our wedding there. Cannot recommend the Masonic Temple enough!
I cannot express enough how incredible the staff at the Masonic Temple was in helping mine and my husband's fairytale wedding come true! From each step of the planning process, to ...
assuring the day of went as smoothly as possible, Angela, Danielle, Natalie, and the entire Masonic Temple team was dedicated to us and our families. It was truly a day my husband and I will never forget! 10/10 recommend the Masonic Temple if you are looking for a one of a kind wedding experience, with a team of people who are extremely professional, kind, caring, and truly know how to execute the perfect wedding, with the most incredible detail. We cannot thank them enough
Me and my husband Shawn had the pleasure of having our ceremony and reception at the Masonic Temple in Detroit this January 2026. It was a fairytale come true from start to finish...
. We had our ceremony in the Chapel (beautiful!) and our reception in the Crystal Ballroom (very grand!). Angela and Natalie were fantastic to work with and made everything stressfree! These incredible ladies along with the Masonic staff welcomed our guests the day of the wedding, helped me and my husband and family get down the aisle, took us for photos around this stunning venue, helped with our grand entrances. Just made our day that more special!! We recommend the Masonic Temple to every newly engaged couple. This venue is unique, breathe taking, and a one of a kind wedding experience. Thank you Masonic team for everything!!
We got married back in May, and the Masonic Temple seriously exceed all expectations. From top to bottom, everything was planned and executed perfectly. Every single member of the ...
staff who we interacted with, from the waitstaff to the individuals actually helping us plan the day, was so professional and kind. Even our guests raved about the staff the night of the wedding. The Masonic was so accommodating with setup and teardown, and they worked seamlessly with our vendors. They also allowed us access to a large chunk of the building for pictures. There wasn't a moment when we worried about things not working out the way we planned. The communication was also fantastic all the way through, even when some of the staff we had originally been communicating with changed. The space was beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the service was phenomenal. When we were looking for a venue, it seemed that most reviews for places focused on the negatives, so we just wanted to take a minute to highlight all of the things that the Masonic did right. They honestly went above and beyond just giving us a space for our wedding. We would recommend the Masonic to anyone getting married. Everyone there made the day so beautiful and one that we'll always look back on so fondly.
We recently had our wedding at the Detroit Masonic Temple, and it could not have been a more incredible experience! The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking—historic, elegant, a...
nd unlike anything else you’ll find in the city. Every corner feels grand and timeless, which made for an unforgettable backdrop to such a special day.
What truly set the experience apart, though, was the outstanding team we had the privilege of working with. Angela, Danielle, and the entire Masonic staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was seamless. From our very first meeting to the final moments of the reception, they were professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. They anticipated our needs before we even asked, handled every curveball with grace, and created an environment where we could fully relax and enjoy ourselves knowing everything was in expert hands.
Our guests are still raving about the beauty of the venue and the flawless flow of the evening—and that is a direct reflection of the support and hard work of the Masonic team. We are so grateful for their dedication, warmth, and hospitality. If you are considering a wedding venue in Detroit, I cannot recommend the Masonic Temple highly enough. It was everything we dreamed of and more!
Although the person in charge of planning was changed 3 times during our planning process, everything went perfectly. Erin helped us through every step day of. After ceremony, the ...
staff brought us our signature cocktails to take a moment to relax. Erin even helped steam my dress morning of! They made our entire wedding so exciting, they were our cheerleaders and made sure anything behind the scenes was completely out of our minds. We would host our wedding here 1000000x over. The venue itself it so gorgeous that decorations are truly not necessary. I recommend this place, their staff, literally everything. A++++ work. We love you, Masonic Temple!!!!!
We knew we were going to need a large space with our guest count but there was zero compromise on intimacy along with attention to detail at the Masonic. They offer several customi...
zable options for bridal/ groom suites, catering, cocktail hour, and reception. The main ballroom looked stunning especially the two main chandeliers.
Although the packages/ guidelines seemed rigid, we were eventually able to get most of the results we were looking for through some tinkering and back and forth correspondence. We were very impressed by the catering and waitstaff as the food received several compliments throughout the night. The only complaints on our end would be the temperature regulation of the main ballroom, which im sure comes with the building being older, and some areas of “hospitality”. There were a lot of things that were agreed upon in person but when it came time to be put into writing, those conversations were either misunderstood or backtracked. As I mentioned before, we eventually got to the result we were looking for but often received some resistance upfront.
Our wedding was Sept 2024 and it was the most amazing day! All of the staff is wonderful to work with and they went above and beyond for our special day! The food, the drinks and t...

My Wedding was Friday July 14, 2023 and I could not be happier with our choice to book the Masonic Temple in downtown Detroit. We were looking for a venue that would hold around 2...
50 people, had everything in one place, was downtown and had good food. This was the perfect place.
My mom was in the meeting and events planning business for 35 years and worked with thousands of properties and was blown away every step of the way. She said that Melanie Matics (Event Coordinator at the Masonic) is one of the best I have worked with. Starting with our initial inquiries, to the wedding day - her responsiveness, attention to detail and "yes" approach was so refreshing and gave us all so much confidence in how everything was going to go the day of. I went into the day with no stress because of her and Erin Miracle the Event Manager.
The wedding was perfect and every staff member we came into contact with was professional and welcoming. You can't believe all of the positive feedback we have received. A special thanks to Olivia Sellers and Nancy Fisher who were our coordinators on Thursday and Friday. They were on top of every detail and responsive to any of our questions or requests.
Your catering partner, T & M Catering / Jeff Cole, was also amazing. I was so thrilled to be able to offer family style service for the dinner. We could not believe how good the food was when we went for the tasting, but you never know how that translates for 240 people. It was delicious and again, wonderful feedback from our guests, including several vegetarian, vegan and halal diners. We chose the Chicken Milanese, rolled prime rib, tomato basil pasta, mashed potatoes, green beans and tossed salad. Delicious!
And the Masonic Temple Detroit...no words! What an amazing gem. In our wedding venue search, we were often shown facilities that do not have adequate space for the number of attendees or the activities. The Masonic is so incredible from the size / options, beauty, decor and history. I also think your pricing / packages are the best value in Detroit. Just having access all day to the large Bridal Suite on site is a huge plus.
We not only walked away loving how everything went on Friday, we were also so proud to host all of our family and friends to such an incredible and unique experience.
We had our wedding reception at Masonic Temple on October 7, 2023. It was beyond incredible! First and foremost, Melanie and Erin made the planning process a breeze! We signed a ...
contract nearly 2 years in advance before our wedding date. Over the 2 years they were extremely helpful, communicative and professional. They even accommodated a couple special requests that we had!
The venue itself is stunning! We've gone to many concerts at Masonic but didn't realize there were so many other rooms inside. The Crystal Ballroom is perfect for large groups and fit our 270 guests well. We didn't need many flowers or decor with all the natural beauty inside the room. Having cocktail hour upstairs and allowing guests to overlook the ballroom was one of our favorite parts.
We did a family style meal and upgraded the bar. There were so many options to choose from with these packages! The staff and bartenders treated our guests so well, we are still receiving compliments!
Overall this venue is a 10/10! If you're looking for something unique yet classic and traditional, I cannot recommend Masonic Temple enough!
I had my wedding at the Masonic Temple on September 22, 2023, everything was perfect. My husband and I had a wonderful time and the staff at the Masonic went above and beyond since...
the moment I signed the contract a year prior to the event. All of my guests raved about the bartenders, servers and staff. People are still talking to me about how delicious the food was. I felt like Erin, Nancy, Jill, Tommy and Melanie were truly invested in my husband and I having the best day and did anything they could to make it go smoothly. Choosing to have my wedding at the Masonic Temple was our best decision. The staff helped make my day perfect without adding a single drop of extra stress or drama.
From start to finish, the Masonic Temple was an amazing venue. Their staff was always responsive and helped us create a memorable wedding. Our guests commented on how well everythi...

ting a quote to the very end at the rehearsal and the day off. Everyone was so pleasant, professional, and helpful! From the security at the building to the even coordinators, everyone was welcoming. The building is absolutely beautiful. We needed minimal decor because the entire building is beautiful enough on its own. It is such a pretty and unique setting for a wedding. Food was great, service was great, everything was clean and perfectly set up. The day went great. The getting ready rooms there are beautiful and versatile. After a year of working with them and planning, I’m sad it’s over! I would 100% recommend having your wedding here, they are pros!
I want to mention Melanie, Olivia, and Nancy! They were amazing coordinators! They answer emails quickly, they are organized, they are professional, kind, and they really came thr...
ough the day of my wedding :) they work well with people of different cultures and they do their best to ensure that everyone is happy. The food was great, the reception hall was beautiful, they work well with vendors, and they accommodate as much as possible. Highly recommend this venue :)
Our wedding was absolutely beautiful here. We did the food family style and we got many compliments from our guests that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. The coordi...
nators there are great but definitely get your requests in on time for when they ask for them because they were not good at communicating last minute requests to their other staff that work the day of. Also, the place is not air conditioned at all. The ballrooms are in the basement so they are generally ok, but the chapel and getting ready areas were a lot warmer in Sept than we had hoped. As a bride, I already had a lot of nervous energy so I was sweaty most of the day, but didn’t hear a lot of complaints from guests.
We got married on June 16th, 2023 at The Masonic Temple and we could not be happier with our decision. I had looked at a lot of wedding venues from Metro Detroit (where I am from),...
Pittsburgh (where my husband is from) and even destination wedding venues. We ended up at the Masonic Temple and it was absolutely perfect! We booked about a year out from our date, but as an FYI to other couples at that point they did not have any summer Saturdays left so we ended up with a Friday which was more than okay with us. We worked closely with Melanie Matics and she is absolutely fantastic! She was always quick to respond to any questions I had and made my life so much easier. She made me feel like I was the only Bride she was working with. As mentioned, we had looked at a lot of venues, but like any Bride you have a budget to stay within and we had a big Wedding (230 people). I think that the Masonic Temple is beautiful and we got a very fair price compared to some other Detroit Wedding venues. We had our rehearsal on Thursday and our day of Venue Coordinator was Nancy and she was very helpful during the rehearsal. I did have another day of coordinator that I hired and I would recommend that because although they have people day of they are the venue coordinator so they are not coordinating your whole day and that is not their job. The morning of the Wedding we had a HUGE Bridal Suite to get ready in so there was plenty of room for hair, makeup and for girls to spread around. It was nice not being shoved in a small room together. The Wedding was absolutely perfect. The Masonic Temple staff is easy to work with and so accommodating. When we sat down for dinner we had our own banquet server for my husband and I at our sweetheart table and she was amazing. Anything we needed and she was on it. The food came out piping hot which you don't always find at Weddings and the food was incredible. We had Chicken Florentine and Filet Mignon with Mascarpone Whipped Potatoes and Vegetable Medley. People were raving about the food and one person even said it was the best wedding food they had ever had which is huge compliment when you are serving 230 people. This venue is elegant, but there is also so much space to make it look exactly how you want it. I would highly recommend the Masonic Temple especially for couples who are looking to have a larger Wedding.
I can't say enough good things about the Masonic Temple! We are so thrilled we had our wedding here on 4/29/23. Everything went off without a hitch, thanks to the help of Melanie a...
nd Erin. They both were extremely helpful and went above & beyond for us. We really didn't even need a decorator/wedding planner because of their amazing help! The pricing was very reasonable for all that is included. Our guests are still raving about how beautiful the venue is and how yummy the food was! Photos also turned out amazing due to (our amazing photographer...read review for JLB photography if interested!) and the gorgeous architecture of this historic building. I would hire the Masonic again in an instant!
We loved the Masonic! We wanted a venue where we could have our ceremony and reception for our ~250 guests all in one place. Masonic had that and more! We had our ceremony in the c...
hapel and our reception was in the Crystal Ballroom. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with questions. Their pricing was reasonable and a lot was included in the base package (uplighting, linens, etc.) The space truly speaks for itself and you really do not need a lot of decor to make the space shine. Our friends and family are still talking about how delicious the food was and how much fun they had!
I am writing this review late, but still not any less deserved. I have nothing but positive things to say about Melanie and her team. She responded to each email in a timely manner...
. If she couldn’t answer my question in an email, she would set up time to talk on the phone (which she did more than once). She listened to and addressed every single concern and never once seemed bothered by any of my many questions. She is a rockstar. I wanted a venue with character, and the Masonic temple was definitely it. More so, I wanted to work with a venue team that made the process smooth and seamless. I got that in every sense. I got a team at the Masonic Temple in addition to my dream venue. If I had to go back in time, I would choose the Masonic Temple again.

g out to ask a million random questions which I very much appreciated. Their professionalism shined through everything they did to make sure my wedding day was as perfect as possible from start to finish and I am forever grateful for the level of care they put into our wedding. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the venue and I am still personally dumbfounded how there was an entire concert happening at the same time and we didn't hear any of it from or reception room! I am glad to have had their guidance to create the perfect wedding experience and can't recommend the Masonic and their dedicated events team enough!

uests knew were to go and when. We loved the separate area for cocktail hour. They were even able to have a photo slide-show during cocktail hour behind the bar on the TV screens. The staff was great working with my DOC and other vendors. They even let us take pictures throughout several of the Masonics amazing rooms. Leading up to the wedding, the event planners and coordinators were extremely helpful, quick with responses, and very professional. I will forever remember how amazing my reception was in the Crystal Ballroom!

It would be great if some temporary AC or upgrades to the current HVAC could be available for the bride's room and the chapel. It is a historic building, so it is understandable that it is not an easy renovation to make. If it hadn't been such a hot day (over 90) it would not have been an issue. Fans and a temporary AC unit were available for use in one area which was very helpful. Every tool the staff had on sight to help with temperature was used.
The Masonic temple was a truly magical venue and we can’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else! Melanie & the rest of her team made the planning process as smooth as possible- ...
always being incredibly responsive, professional, and atune to the wedding industry being able to provide helpful tips/recommendations. The day of was equally seamless with every single person on site seeming to be incredibly invested in making this the best day ever! One memorable example is venue coordinator Nancy fluffed my train so well before entering the chapel that my bridesmaids didn’t even to adjust it anymore once I got to the alter. In Masonic’s hands- there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Beyond the amazing support and professionalism of everyone on staff- the venue is just gorgeous. All of our guests were blown away and having been a covid delayed wedding so were we to see all the renovations to the cocktail space and the refreshed paint in the crystal ballroom that just enhanced its historical presence. Truly the best place ever and a credit to the wonderful staff for making our wedding at masonic the best day ever!

ry single thing so that my couple would feel comfortable booking their venue blindsided.
During the whole process, she answered every question that was asked to make the day flow timelessly.
The day of, Erin stepped in and was super helpful with everything that was needed. I will refer to Masonic again not just because it's a beautiful place but also because of the great service from the staff!
We hosted our wedding here on July 2nd, 2022, and it was spectacular! We booked the venue back in April 2021 and we weren't able to go view Masonic in person until August 2021. We ...
knew after touring the venue that we made the right decision. We loved working with Melanie and Erin throughout the whole process. They were very prompt on replying to all my emails and questions over the year and half of planning. All of our guests were blown away with the food, elegance and history the Masonic has to offer. We would definitely recommend this venue to others!

lpful, responsive and kind throughout all stages of cancelling, rescheduling and planning due to the pandemic. At our vow renewal, ALL Masonic staff was extremely helpful and kind. We didn't have time to rehearse the night before, so staff squeezes in time to help us coordinate a rehearsal before our ceremony which was wonderful. We wish we could renew our vow every year here! Thank you!!!!
We toured the 1M Lounge at Masonic Temple and loved it…but had decided to have our ceremony somewhere else due to sentimental reasons. Right before we ordered our invitations, our ...
original plans for the ceremony venue fell through. We reached back out to our contact at Masonic, the date/room was still available, and we booked it. The staff there was so incredibly easy to work with. I think it was ultimately a good thing that original plans fell through, because Masonic was much more accommodating, streamlined, and convenient. Valet was included in the price, and they allowed me to choose the rehearsal day/time that worked best for us without any issue. The space had adequate air conditioning. They had the room set up perfectly, had a friendly attendant with us throughout the rehearsal and ceremony, and even provided the signs with our event name on it that directed people where to go. The only reason that I did not give them a better score, is because the microphone did not work during the ceremony – it kept cutting in and out. Thankfully, the room had great acoustics..and myself, my hubby, and my officiant all were able to just go with the flow and speak loudly.

We were never stressed and just had the most beautiful wedding day. We cannot thank them enough. I look forward to future events at the Masonic.

t our minds at ease. Melanie and her team were so much more than we could have ever hoped. They worked with the other vendors like they worked together every day for years. Not only did they go above and beyond, but I felt like they were just as excited as I was. Everything went off without a hitch, and I mean everything. Melanie made everything a piece of cake. If you want to work with someone who cares about your day as much as you do- work with this team. Everyone was super polite, and did their best to help with everything.
The venue is GORGEOUS. If you want your guests to say "WOW" the second they walk in? This is the place you should get married. It was reasonably priced compared to the rest of the area. It was even CHEAPER than some of the places I thought would be cheap.
I wish I could hang out here every weekend. Our entire party felt like royalty.
This venue is absolutely gorgeous and Melanie was wonderful to work with. The only downside is that the building is old and massive so the AC doesn't really cool the building down ...
and it was a very hot day. The ballroom where the reception was was much cooler though. I still highly recommend this venue though.

m the start, to finish. Melanie was easy to work with, extremely responsive, and followed through on all commitments. She was flexible, patient and offered great guidance and support throughout the planning process. The venue itself is absolutely magical and the uniqueness had our guests, both out of town and local, raving. The food (tasting and wedding dinner) and catering service was also fabulous.
We can’t recommend the Masonic enough for a unique, elegant and historical wedding. We had nothing but an overall amazing experience. I can’t thank Melanie and her team enough for making our day the best we would ask for.

We got married in June of 2019 this year at the Masonic Temple, and it was amazing.
I have been to 9 other weddings this year outside of ours and I have to say, our venue was the ...
most unique, elegant, and everything ran so smoothly. I credit a lot of this to the Venue’s Wedding Coordinator Melanie Matics. She was spectacular! Truly on top of everything and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. Also the food was awesome! We got so many compliments.
Please look into this venue if you haven’t already. You won’t be disappointed!

The venue itself was just AMAZING! You can get married in a beautiful chapel (even if you're not religious) and dinner & dancing is in the grand ballroom. There was lots of room for our guests to mix and mingle as they pleased, including an upper balcony for cocktail hour.
There are so many photo options (you can go literally in every room & up on the rooftop for a gorgeous Downtown Detroit view - so great!). We got a TON of compliments on the food - one uncle said it was the best steak he had ever had in his life!
Our group had a handful of random mishaps but Jenny and the team took them in stride and kept the day moving so graciously! I cannot recommend this venue and Jenny enough!!! Thank you for everything <3
This was the most beautiful venue for a wedding in downtown Detroit! We loved having our ceremony in the chapel, the cocktail hour on the balcony which overlooks the reception, and...
the reception in the crystal ballroom. It was breathtakingly beautiful! The event coordinator Melanie is the best! She’s super helpful, accommodating, and so organized! She helped to make our day run so smooth! I highly recommend The Masonic for a wedding or event!
I cannot recommend this venue enough, and I cannot recommend Melanie and Jenny enough. The Masonic Temple is an absolutely stunning venue and is well worth the price to have somet...
hing so unique and different among all of the wedding venues in Detroit. Not only that, Melanie and Jenny made the time period leading up to my wedding, my actual wedding day, and even the period afterwards extremely easy and stress free. They were always on top of the ball, answered all of my emails in a timely manner, let me visit when I felt needed, and accommodated all of my requests for the day of. Our favorite pictures from that day were on the roof of the Masonic, just the two of us. Thank you so much Melanie and Jenny, I really can't emphasize how much you helped me enjoy my day.
I couldn’t have asked for a better venue for my wedding. It was absolutely magical, our guests were in awe!! Not to mention the food - Masonic uses T&M Catering, and the food is be...
yond excellent! Working with Melanie and her team was an absolute pleasure - I must’ve sent her over a hundred emails during my year-long planning process, and they were so patient and always quick to respond. They were also very accommodating with last minute changes to meals/seating. I honestly had the best experience with Masonic, it was everything I dreamed my wedding day would be. If you’re looking for a drop-dead gorgeous venue, excellent service and a very good price, Masonic is the place! Thank you SO much, Melanie! You
We loved having our wedding at the Masonic Temple. We got so many compliments on everything, from the food to the space. Melanie was great to work with!

mazing night. We had both our ceremony (chapel) and reception (Crystal Ballroom) with a cocktail hour in between. This venue is really a hidden gem in Detroit and our guests loved the vintage, art deco style.
Here are some information I know I would have appreciated as a bride: Communication with Melanie (the venue coordinator) was amazing and prompt! She is a professional in every sense of the word and really cared about our details and event as much as we did. She is a great asset to the Masonic. Valet and security were available (for a cost) and we heard no complaints! With a venue this large, security was so helpful in helping our guests get to where they needed to be. Bar service was great! The space in the Crystal Ballroom was gorgeous and large enough to accommodate our large wedding (250 people).
The only two complaints we had was that the beautiful chapel and the getting ready rooms seemed to run very hot. Our wedding was on a hot day, but still - i'm glad we had a short ceremony. The other complaint has to do with the outside caterer that the Masonic uses, T & M Catering. The food was fine - not spectacular, but not terrible. However, despite confirming that refills of bread baskets and the family style pasta would be offered when requested by guests, this did not happen. Disappointing, especially since we had specifically asked about this during our tasting.
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend the Masonic Temple. It was a lovely venue with amazing service and hardworking staff.
My husband and I got married at The Masonic about a month ago. As a couple who spends a lot of time in Detroit, we wanted our wedding to be in the city that we loved; however, so m...
any of the venues were way out of our price range or had 2-3 year waiting lists. We didn't know The Masonic did weddings, but when we did a tour of the building, we were absolutely sold. The pricing was reasonable; the building is so beautiful you don't need to spend a ton of money decorating; the space for the girls to get ready in is GORGEOUS and GIGANTIC; Melanie is SO GOOD at making you feel comfortable in what you are planning and is always prompt at responding; and we were able to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all within an elevator's reach. The food was to die for, and all of the waitstaff were kind and prompt. This was by far the fairytale wedding of our dreams, and it would not have been as beautiful, as perfectly coordinated, or as dreamy if it had not been for the beautiful space and Melanie and her team. If you want a wedding in Detroit, look no further!
Beautiful basement ballroom venue - the staff are very easy to work with and there are tables and chairs there for you to use. The layout and building material make it hard to hear...
/understand the DJ unless you were right in front, so that was a little disappointing but it did not ruin the night!
We had our ceremony and reception here. Our wedding was May 12th (a Saturday). We had 150ish people for both events. Melanie our contact throughout the whole process. She was very ...
accommodating and nice. The service was good. Everyone was courteous. The food was very good! Everyone was complementing it still the next day. We had chicken with some peppers and salmon with an orange glaze. I would have liked labels for the food but it wasnt bad not having them. The cheesecake was fantastic! Everything was so pretty. We didnt have to decorate the ceremony space at all- it was so easy and everyone loved it. The reception space was beautiful, our dj added some uplighting and it was perfect. We used the regular chairs and navy table cloths and it worked very well. Overall our expectations were exceeded. We felt like we got our moneys worth out of the experience with them.
My husband and I got married at The Masonic on 9/9/17 and our experience could not have been better. We held our ceremony in the Chapel, our reception in the Crystal Ballroom, and ...
we used the balcony overlooking the ballroom as our cocktail hour space. Melanie was very prompt in responding to all our questions and made sure everything ran smoothly. The venue is one of true elegance and stunning architecture - it needs no decorating! It definitely fit the vintage theme we were going for. The food was excellent and staff was attentive. We were even able to get a picture on the roof overlooking the city. Price wise, unless you're doing a complete DIY wedding, this is one of the cheaper options in Detroit. We can not recommend this venue enough! Absolutely beautiful.
Coordinator Melanie is spectacular at her job and the Masonic is just stinking and unique.

needs no decorations because it is already soo beautiful! It really is a stunning venue.
Also soo spacious!! But even though it can hold a ton of people it also works good for a small wedding, we only had around 70 guests, but the way Melanie filled up the space made it feel perfect! And any extra open space just becomes dance floor thanks to the beautiful hardwood floors.
And the coordinator, Melanie, was always going above and beyond our expectations!
We couldn't done without her help!
She really helped everything go so smoothly on the big day and allowed us to focus on all the little details, because we knew she had everything handled.
She was really thoughtful and helpful also replied email quickly so we didn't have any stress when it came to the venue !! Even when it came to last min changes the day before the reception like both bridal parties getting dressed at Masonic she didnt miss a beat and preped two rooms for us.
We couldn't have asked for a better wedding coordinator or venue!
Thank you so much Melanie for everything!! Highly recommend everyone to check out this venue if your planning a wedding, i promise you wont be disappointed!!
