About this vendor
Hey hey! Madalyn Muncy Photography is a wedding photography business based out of Detroit, Michigan but available all over the state. As a wedding photographer, my goal is to make the day and everything before and after it an awesome experience rather than just another task you have to do. I’m here to make the planning and day as stress-free as possible. My photography style is a good mix of documentary and lifestyle so when you look back, you'll see yourselves and your loved ones celebrating on your wedding day.
From the moment you contact me to the day-of to the album design process, I make it easy for you to sit back, be yourselves, and do what you should be doing: enjoying the moment. I know exactly when to direct and when to step back and let it all happen on a wedding day, making me perfect for those couples who don't want a paparazzi experience, but someone who will let them relax, do their thing, and create some bomb photos of their moments. Madalyn Muncy was the photographer of our dreams. What initially drew us to her was her beautiful photos and that she is LGBTQ+ affirming. Then when my partner and I met with her, ...
and we got to experience what an awesome, supportive, friendly, talented, and organized person she is. She was supportive and available throughout our wedding planning process – helping us envision what we wanted our day to look like, and to develop a timeline that helped us make that vision come to life. When we met to finalize plans before our wedding day, she created space for us to share with her our hopes for photos and any last-minute worries we had so that she could know how best to support us through the day.
On our wedding day, Madalyn was proactive in helping us capture the love we share as a couple, beautiful and treasured family photos, and an abundance of candid shots of us speaking and singing and dancing. For one family member who had some insecurities about their appearance due to health changes, Madalyn was thoughtful in finding ways to capture absolutely gorgeous photos of them that we will treasure forever. A while after our wedding, this family member told us that Madalyn had made an effort to provide them some kind reassurance throughout the wedding day that she’d captured some really great shots of them. She has a gift in communicating with people of all ages (from young kids to older adults) to help them pose for genuine, beautiful photos.
And wow, when we received our photo gallery, we shared so many happy tears. Madalyn had captured the most beautiful photos that tell the full story of our day, and we will treasure them for the rest of our lives. She has a gift in photography, editing, and we were deeply grateful for the opportunity to have her with us to capture our wedding day. We would HIGHLY recommend her for any of your photography needs.
Madalyn was a joy to work with for our wedding in October 2024. From the moment she arrived, she brought such a calm and friendly presence that made us feel completely at ease in f...
ront of the camera. She captured every moment so naturally and beautifully, and looking back through our photos truly brings the day back to life. Even with a large wedding party and a busy day, Madalyn never missed a detail. Her eye for special moments is incredible. We’ve received so many compliments on our photos and are so grateful to have these memories to cherish forever. I would highly recommend Madalyn to anyone looking for a talented photographer who truly cares about her couples.
Madalyn was amazing to work with for our engagement photos and wedding day. She made sure our photo timeline went smoothly, and taking pictures with her was so easy and relaxing. W...
e loved working with her!
Madalyn was a calm, fun, and professional presence on our wedding day. My now husband and I are both not the most comfortable in front of the camera, and she made the process feel ...
smooth and helped us relax. We had a small and nontraditional wedding ceremony, and Madalyn ensured that we still had romantic and professional-looking photos despite the DIY nature of the day.
Madalyn was extremely communicative prior to the wedding, and we appreciated how thorough she was in making sure we got all the right group photo combinations. She had great suggestions that made our photos more special and also listened to our needs to ensure she captured our overall vibe.
I would absolutely recommend her!
Madalyn’s portfolio speaks for itself when it comes to her exceptional abilities as a photographer. If her style matches your vision, we recommend her without reservation. Madaly...
n brings a wonderful, but not overbearing, personality to the table that blends well with her photo shoots. She has an outstanding ability to guide you while still allowing you to be yourselves, which results in the experience of taking the photos becoming its own special memory.
Madalyn completed our engagement photos by herself, which turned out amazing. Unfortunately, our wedding overlapped with her maternity leave, but there was no additional burden placed on us for coordinating the replacement photographers for our wedding. She took care of everything, and she was clearly able to utilize her experience in the industry to make things smooth. Also, she made a surprise appearance (absolutely above and beyond, unnecessary, and yet greatly appreciated) to take some of our bridal party photos. Again, she is an awesome person who happens to be an experienced and skilled photographer. Not only would we choose her again for our wedding, we would love to have Madalyn capture future milestones in our lives.
Madalyn is amazing! She was our photographer throughout our whole wedding journey (proposal, engagement session, and wedding day), and my husband and I couldn't be happier with he...
r work! She is so nice, talented, and pays attention to details. She was so much fun to work with and makes you feel very comfortable. Madalyn does beautiful work and you will not be disappointed! We can't wait to work with her again in the future for Christmas tree farm sessions and other family photo sessions.
Madalyn was amazing! So many great photos from our wedding. Meeting Madalyn for our engagement shoot was so easy going and she made us feel very comfortable.
Out of all the hard decisions for the wedding, Madalyn was an easy choice and was the best choice we made. A good friend who hired Madalyn for her wedding photography shared her we...
dding photo gallery with us years ago and I remember LOVING the photos. My friend highly recommended her. So Madalyn was the first photographer we contacted. After our first call with Madalyn we knew we wanted to hire her! We hired Madalyn for our engagement photos and wedding photos. Through both sessions she was so easy going but also very attentive and professional. She won’t push you to do anything outside your comfort zone and also helps guide you to fun ideas (like us stopping at our favorite taco joint for pics)! She made the whole process as stress free as possible. She made a timeline for the wedding day and that in itself was extraordinarily helpful. There are questionnaires that help get the ball rolling and get a better vision in your head for your big day. She’s also very considerate to your families and any issues there may be. Not only is Madalyn prepared but she helps make you be prepared as well. On the wedding day everything went perfectly, the timeline was on point and we got everything done that we wanted to. Madalyn was a saint that day, helping to keep me (the bride) feel confident and beautiful. Locations for photos were perfect and we had some great poses. We felt we could chat casually as well which really gave us a vibe of Madalyn just being a good person. Madalyn herself and her process are great, as for her photo they are STUNNING. I seriously can’t stop looking at them. They are so beautiful and truly capture the love between me and my husband, as well as great pictures with the friends and family. Overall wonderful and we will for sure be recommending Madalyn to others!
One of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding was choosing Madalyn Muncy Photography. My husband and I are not fans of getting our pictures taken, or even looking at ...
pictures of ourselves, but Madalyn made all the difference. Not only was she chill and fun, but she we super professional as well. Especially when working with our families, and even our dogs. She captured so many great memories for us, just working alone at our wedding. All I can say - if you are looking for a photographer Madalyn should be your first choice!
Madalyn was an outstanding photographer from start to finish! It was clear Madalyn was the right decision from the beginning. After sending in our inquiry, she got back with us rig...
ht away and included a draft timeline and personal video. She was prompt, personable and I could tell right away it would be a breeze working with her! Madalyn made the planning process stress-free by sending out emails and keeping us on track with our online portal. She is very thorough and type A, making sure all your photography dreams come true!
It was a very hot and uncomfortable day for our engagement shoot, but Madalyn immediately put us at ease and helped us feel confident in front of the camera. As we got closer to the wedding, Madalyn did a great job in helping me with the wedding day timeline. She worked with me to make sure that all the “must have” photos were identified and that we scheduled enough time so that we wouldn’t feel rushed on the big day. Similar to the engagement shoot, Madalyn was able to put us at ease on the day of the wedding. From the moment Madalyn arrived at the bridal suite, she was on a mission. Not only does she have the best personality and is easy to work with, she takes her work seriously and the photos speak for themselves.
The photo gallery Madalyn delivered was absolutely gorgeous. I will cherish these photos forever and look forward to getting them in an album soon!
Thank you Madalyn, you are the best!
100% you should hire Madalyn for your wedding (or any photo needs). We initially reached out to madalyn about a year before our wedding and she was so informative and helpful. Ever...
ything following was literally so easy and flawless. She is calm, intelligent, organized, and so talented. She made a timeline for my wedding day that I literally used to plan every other vendor. Her information forms are so great and helped me to work through what I actually wanted on the wedding day! They were quick to fill out but were detailed and thorough to make sure we were all in the same page. On the day of the wedding she was a calming presence but also kept us (and our somewhat bad at listening bridal party) on schedule. She was like my guiding hand through the day hahah. But for real she is so genuine and organized and I credit the day running smoothly largely to her. The day after the wedding, so many of our friends and family complimented how much they loved madalyn. Not to mention the pictures are amazing. My wedding was only like 3 weeks ago so we only have the previews but they are beautiful! We received so many more sneak peaks than I expected and I am in love with every single one, we can’t wait for the rest!
Too long didn’t read: Hire madalyn if you want a photographer that is genuine, caring, organized, extremely talented, and will make your day so fun and flawless. You will not regret it!
We hired Madalyn for our "COVID 1 year wedding redo" about 30 days prior to the event. I'd say it is pure luck that she was available when I reached out - however, she was prompt ...
in her responses, set up a meeting, and we ready to say yes in short order!
Madalyn listened to what we were hoping for (re-do portraits), casual candids of our family and friends, and then went above and beyond catching little decor details as a surprise when our photos came out.
We had sneak peeks shortly after and our full gallery arrived just about 6 weeks after the event. Her photos are stunning, her can do attitude is fantastic and I would whole heartedly hire her again for photos!
After searching high and low for our engagement photographer, we finally came across Madalyn's work, and I cannot be happier that we did. Madalyn was such a pleasure to work with -...
My fiancé and I were both so comfortable. She had us laughing, gave us great ideas for how to pose, and was constantly pointing out amazing locations during our session to stop for pictures. We wanted engagement photos that captured "us" and we feel Madalyn did just that! On top of that, she sent us a TWENTY GALLERY sneak peek just 48 HOURS after our shoot. We were dying to see how the pictures turned out, and this definitely quenched our thirst until we were delivered our final gallery just 3 weeks later. While I could go on-and-on about how gorgeous our pictures turned out, I also wanted to mention something that I feel really sets Madalyn apart. Just days before we were set to take our photographs, my fiancé had a bad fall at work, chipping his teeth and gashing open his chin. Madalyn instantly offered to reschedule until he was able to heal. She not only rescheduled, but she also retouched some of the images where my fiancé's injury would have been obvious. Madalyn has a heart of gold - She truly cares about her clients and ensuring that these memories are captured for a lifetime. I cannot recommend Madalyn enough, she was amazing!
We hired Madalyn for our wedding and I would recommend her to anyone. She was so great to work with from the initial consult to the day of. She helped with the planning of the day ...
and then was so laid back and fun. We’ve only gotten our “sneak peeks” so far but I can’t wait to see the rest of her beautiful photos!
From engagement photos to day-of photography and all the support in between, Madalyn was an absolute rockstar! She listened to what we wanted and delivered stunning memories we wil...
l cherish forever.
Leading up to our big day, Madalyn had multiple check-ins to make sure we stayed on track and didn't get left in a crunch period. Day of, she was timely and kept the show moving so we didn't have to constantly be checking the time. She recommended beautiful locations for our portraits and is so talented with capturing the perfect lighting and architectural backdrops. We've since ordered prints and they are truly works of art - we love the digital collection too - but her work is especially breathtaking in physical photos.
Cannot recommend enough!!
My wife and I highly recommend Madalyn as she is professional, high-quality, and dedicated to makng your wedding experience with photography easy and fun. We felt comfortable, rela...
xed, and ready in front of the camera. Madalyn has the kind of ambiance for nearly all situations making her fit for any type of family. On the wedding day, things are easy because all is prepared for and ready in terms of photo times, location, and people - thanks to Madalyn! She is flexible and ready to adapt to individualize it for the bride and groom. The final gallery had plentiful pictures and she has a natural eye for wonderful photos.
Madalyn is AMAZING. Our day was captured in the most perfect way possible. Couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Can’t wait to look at our pictures for years to come!
I was nervous about finding a photographer for our wedding as my now husband and I don't necessarily love being in front of the camera, but as soon as I met Madalyn I knew we had f...
ound our perfect match. Madalyn was so much more than just a photographer. She helped keep me organized and provide direction in so many more aspects of the day than just the photos. She provided calm in stressful times and was also flexible beyond belief when it to came to scheduling, re-scheduling, and scheduling again due to our ever-changing timeline as an outcome of the pandemic. I would absolutely recommend Madalyn, and have done so to multiple of my friends already, and plan on returning for future photo sessions for our newborn and capturing family photos through the years to come.
Like many other couples who planned a large 2020 wedding, we had to postpone our original wedding date. As we approached our new date, we decided to opt for a small, family-only ce...
remony in our backyard. Since our original photographer now lives in RI and I didn't want to make her fly out for a short ceremony, I started looking for a local photographer 6 weeks before the big day. Little did I know I'd find the perfect photographer for us as a couple and someone who could easily roll with the punches of a covid-era wedding.
Madalyn's work is INCREDIBLE, and she was so amazing and easy to work with. I kept saying how it felt like we'd invited one of my friends to take our photos because you made the experience so much fun and put us both at ease. That's especially significant for me since I'm an extremely anxious, awkward person. :) She navigated my complex family dynamic with ease and grace and kept us laughing the whole time! She even got some wonderful photos of us with our beagle, Scout, who was distracted and howling the ENTIRE time
My husband and I have used Madalyn twice now and both times we have felt so comfortable in front of the camera. She has fun little tricks to get you out of your shell which has cap...
tured some pretty awesome genuine laughs. Our most recent session was our wedding and everything went so smoothly. She was so quick and kept things moving right along on the day. Our album also came out amazing and she was so easy to work with to get exactly what we wanted. We are using her again for a newborn session at the end of this year and I cannot wait to use her more as our family continues to grow!
I honestly can't say enough great things about Madalyn - she was always Team Bride/Groom! Leading up to the wedding she was always in regular communication, even during the height ...
of the pandemic she created video updates to help answer our questions and help calm some nerves. She also completed our entire wedding timeline and then made sure we actually stuck to it the day of the wedding. If you're worried about posing or looking awkward in front of the camera - don't be! She helped every step of the way and it felt completely natural as if we have been friends forever. Not only was our final gallery absolutely beautiful, but she also did a fantastic job of designing and creating our photo book album of our wedding that far exceeded what I could have done.
Madalyn was so friendly and personable! She was so fun to work with and she did an amazing job on our pictures!
I found Madalyn when she started her business and have loved her talent these past four years! From our engagement photos, wedding photos to our small family mini sessions (dogs in...
cluded), it’s always a pleasure seeing her amazing work come to life! My husband and I always feel that we are uncomfortable in front of the camera. But, Madalyn always has a way to lighten up the environment and make us feel at ease. Her passion and dedication for people and capturing life’s beautiful moments are always capture in her work. She’s truly the best and will always be our favorite to recommend!
Working with Madalyn is dream a come true! I will say that a hundred times over. Throughout our wedding planning process, especially in this time of change and uncertainty, we coul...
dn’t help but to compare all our other vendors to Madalyn and the way she runs her business. No one else even measured close! Madalyn is organized, proactive, supportive, honest, and obviously has an eye for both detail and aesthetic. Our communications with Madalyn leading up to our day were a perfect balance of face-to-face conversations and seamless digital interactions. When our wedding day finally arrived we felt like we really knew her and completely trusted her. I thought we couldn’t love Madalyn anymore, but then we received the final product -our gallery. Madalyn captured a thousand memories so perfectly that we’ll truly treasure forever. A particular photo is so classically beautiful that we exclaimed, “That’s it! That’s the photo we’ll show our grandchildren someday.” Thank you again, Madalyn!
Madalyn is an amazing photographer and played a huge role in our wedding day being a success. During the planning process, Madalyn was available and always willing to help. She ans...
wered our questions, helped us make our day of schedule, and figured out what pictures were most important to us. On our big day, she was organized and ready. Our bridal party and family loved working with her and commented on how she seamlessly appeared and captured all of our important moments. She has a way of making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera and has a knack for capturing the genuine emotions of the day! Madalyn captured our day in the most perfect way! It is months later and I still find myself smiling with delight as I look through our wedding pictures. Each picture captures a special moment and I am so grateful for the effort Madalyn put forth in truly capturing our day.
I can’t imagine my wedding without Madalyn as our photographer, and I would highly recommend her to everyone!

as helpful how super organized she is (especially since I’m not) so I felt very prepared and in good hands. She pumped us up the whole day making it such an enjoyable experience. The pictures we received are so beautiful and we can’t wait to display them all over our home!

ently for our engagement pictures and Madalyn held up to everything we had thought. She was punctual, professional and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire shoot. She had my fiancé and I laughing, reminiscing and gushing over each the whole time. And the pictures show just that, you can feel the emotion! We can't wait for the wedding knowing how incredible our engagement pictures came out!
My wedding was almost a year ago so I'm a bit late to the reviewing game, but I LOVED working with Madalyn. She was super flexible and very reasonably priced. She was very organize...
d and experienced. She met me and the girls at the salon for photos and helped us stay on track and knew what to do when a couple of hair appointments ran late and when later in the night, family members weren't where they were supposed to be (despite having a schedule sent to them *coughDadcough*) and when we
had to rearrange the schedule because speeches and dinner took too long. She and the second photographer were truly amazing.
She was totally non-intrusive and photos during the event happened very naturally. I've seen some companies that literally blocked everyone else's view during cake cuttings and first dances and was so glad Madalyn wasn't like that.
She did a great job with retouching (I have a skin condition on my arms). I got tons of photos from her after the event and they were so beautiful and everyone loved them.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Madalyn was the first vendor I hired, and I'm so glad I went with her as our photographer! Throughout our year long engagement, she was so helpful during the wedding planning proce...
ss. She made my husband and I so comfortable in front of the camera, and we heard the same feedback from our bridal party and guests. She was able to keep everything on schedule, and sent us photos the Monday after our Saturday wedding. I cannot wait to use her for all photography needs in the future, and highly recommend her to anyone in Michigan!
Madalyn was probably the best photographer we could have asked for, it was like having a friend instead of a vendor do our photos. Her photos obviously speak for themselves but she...
was so incredibly organized and professional throughout the entire process, she got us our timeline and I was able to use that to build the rest of our day of schedule around it. She communicated early and often and always made sure she got the list of required photos we wanted so we didn’t miss anything. Since she also hadn’t photographed at our venue before, she set up her own meeting with the venue before the wedding to get a tour and walkthrough so it wasn’t a surprise on the day of the wedding. She was assertive when she needed to be to wrangle our families for photos but otherwise was extremely flexible in getting shots if the plans changed! Especially since our wedding was late in the winter and we decided against a first look, she made sure to have a lighting assistant on hand to help coordinate additional flash and we got some great evening photos, and the second shooter who helped out had some awesome ideas for important shots too! Also, she got us engagement photo sneak peeks within 24 hours and got us our wedding sneak peeks (40+ photos!) within 48 hours of our wedding. Madalyn used the engagement photo session to get to know us and she just does a great job of capturing candid and genuine emotion and just made the entire planning experience and day of photos so comfortable and fun. So excited to get the rest of our photos! Thanks Madalyn!
Madalyn was the best photographer ever. She was so helpful, and willing to meet with me in person to iron our all the details. It felt more like a friend helping us than a vendor. ...
I was so nervous about the photos initially, but after doing engagement photos with Madalyn, I knew they would be beautiful. Madalyn's photos did not disappoint, and they are stunning. Our friends and family also commented that she was everywhere at the wedding, making sure every detail was documented.
Not only did we absolutely love all of the photos, Madalyn went above and beyond to make sure that our whole wedding day went smoothly. She was very thorough in helping us lay out ...

e walkway before photos were taken so the bride did not have to worry about stepping in snow. And for the more recent wedding she knew we might have rain and brought beautiful umbrellas for the walk to get to the pavilion for the entire wedding party. She took excellent care to get every photo the couple wanted and did so with encouragement and insight to create the perfect depiction of the big day. You couldn’t ask for a more lovely photographer on your wedding day. Thank you for helping make BOTH of my friends’ weddings a little extra special, Madalyn. You’re amazing!
Madelyn did an AMAZING job! She was super flexible and willing to work with my budget which made getting the perfect photographer for my wedding super easy. She is very responsive ...
(email, text, over the phone) and really easy to work with. She not only serves as a photographer but also takes on the role of a Day of Coordinator if you don't have one which helps brides stay on schedule. She was on time the day of and knew how to deal with my very disorganized family while always having a smile on her face! Thank you Madelyn for capturing our special day.
If you are looking for a photographer she is your gal! I would recommend her to anyone getting married in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area, especially if you are planning a destination wedding like I did.
Madalyn is AMAZING! She really captured our personalities and was so patient and creative working with our three year old.

d her. She is caring, professional, personable, and incredibly creative, easy to work with, and talented. Through her expertise and guidance, we felt at ease taking pictures in very public areas, and through her diligence and organization, we felt at ease leading up to the big day. The personal touches and individualized attention is beyond what you would ever get from the big guys. We're going to have a hard time choosing which one for our save-the-dates because there are just too many good ones. We can't wait for her to capture our wedding next year!
Madelyn was wonderful to work with. Very professional. She had a great way of making us relaxed while taking photos and capturing fun moments. Highly recommend!

Besides my husband, Madalyn is the best choice I made for my wedding day! I had originally hired another photographer, but had nightmares about it, so I sent Madalyn a few frantic ...
emails and Instagram DM’s and I was so relieved to find out she still had our date open. We then scheduled our engagement pictures, and had to reschedule a few times (once because I slept in- still sorry about Madalyn!!) but we just laughed it off and chose another day. It truly felt like Madalyn was just as invested in our wedding as we were, and helped us execute the perfect timeline, made us comfortable, and became our bff. The only wrong choice about Madalyn would be to not choose her. Our day absolutely could not have been better, and a lot of that credit goes to Madalyn.
Madalyn has been a joy to work with in all aspects of wedding planning. Her willingness to answer emails (there have been a few from this nervous bride) and ability to make all the...
planning seem easy has been so reassuring. Working with her on our engagement pictures was awesome and we are so happy with all the choices and variety of shots. Her client portal and gallery are super easy to use and she promptly updates all information, such as invoices. We are so excited for her to shoot our November wedding and will update after the date. However, 10/10 would recommend her!!!
Madalyn is the best. My wife and I certainly appreciate all that she did for us on our special day.

ot engaged, I felt so comfortable with her. She is so easy to work with, and her photos speak for themselves. For our engagement pictures, I gave her a general idea of locations I was interested in. She took my ideas and ran with it and we got some amazing pictures. Her and her husband Josh were working, but it was more like hanging out with friends for a few hours. We felt so comfortable with them. Leading up to my wedding, Madalyn kept in great contact and made sure all my questions were answered. She helped me create the day of timeline, and was totally fine with my admittedly too long "must have" list. On my wedding day, she went into work mode and made sure everything looked perfect. She got every shot on my list, and many additional shots I sprung on her in the moment. I got a preview of my photos the very next day and I couldn't be happier. I would love to work with Madalyn again in the future!

te bride, I was a little stressed about planning, but Madalyn was always available by email or phone to help me with timeline planning and any questions I had. The day of the wedding ran so smoothly and she helped me stay calm and really enjoy the moment. She really made me and my husband feel comfortable in front of the camera and to have fun with it. Madalyn is so talented and I absolutely love her style. The preview photos turned out amazing and I can't wait to see the rest! I'll definitely be flying all the way back to MI just to work with Madalyn again when its time for maternity and baby photos!
Madalyn is FANTASTIC. From the beginning, she was easy to talk to, down to earth, organized, and asked us all the right questions to help us figure out exactly what we wanted from ...
our photos.
Madalyn is the perfect combination of being organized and flexible. She made sure everything was planned out beforehand and we were all set to go. Then our wedding day came and we had awful weather predictions. She called us early that morning, offered us some plan B options and came up with a plan for us.
Then Madalyn arrived to take photos... and we changed the plan on her! The weather was now set to be beautiful- let me tell you, Madalyn went with the flow yet made SURE that we got our 'must have' pictures. We are so thankful she was able to work with us when things kept changing back and forth. She made us laugh and not feel awkward at all when actually taking our non-candid photos... which is important when you've never taken wedding photos before :)
The morning after(!), Madalyn sent us some 'sneak peeks'. She made sure that specific photos we said we wanted/ were excited about were even included in those! Did I mention the photos were AMAZING?! We're incredibly happy we hired M. Muncy Studios for our big day!
