I am extremely late in writing this review, but a year and a half after our wedding, I just looked back at our album today and was flooded yet again with gratitude for the incredib...
le work Laura Witherow did for us on that day, and for the ability to re-live all those moments through such a stunning, glowing montage of photographs.
We selected Laura because, in addition to great reviews, we loved her photographic style: bright, warm, classic, and effervescent. It was exactly how I wanted my wedding day to look and feel, and it was how I wanted our pictures to look afterwards. As the daughter of a photographer, I notice a lot of trends that come and go in wedding photography, and for some people, a trendy look is a great fit -- whether it’s in a wedding dress or a photographer. I wanted our photos to feel timeless, and that’s why we chose Laura. We could not have chosen better.
We loved our venue and our wedding’s design, but we chose to have a November wedding instead of the spring wedding I’d always imagined, and it was important to me that the day still feel bright. As it happens, when you marry the love of your life and your best people surround you in love, that brightness happens on it its own -- but managing to capture all of that luminescence in images is where craft and skill come in, and I can’t imagine a more beautiful set than the ones Laura gave to us. Looking through the pictures, it’s like everyone and everything is glowing, within and without. The photos are crisp and vibrant. The colors we spent so long lovingly selecting sing off the images. The facial expressions of our of guests during the funny moments, the touching ones, the ones that were so deeply us -- she got them all, each framed beautifully; the photos re-tell those stories. The day felt golden, and I’m so grateful that she captured its glow.
We also appreciated how down-to-earth and kind Laura was. While planning ahead, she made us feel confident, comfortable, and seen. During the event, Laura was fun, organized, and professional. She dealt well with our unruly and sometimes disappearing family members and made me and my husband feel fully at ease. She and her assistant were able to capture every moment and every shot we wanted without once being in the way. She knew the venue well and lit it perfectly. She led group shots efficiently and effectively, building in just enough fun and silliness to engender and capture the genuine love and connection between us all. She brought out the best in all of us, and gave it back in pictures.
I would choose Laura Witherow again every time. Thank you, Laura, for a life-long gift!

use i knew I had high expectations, photography was my #1 most important item. I spent months looking at so many photograohers and was so glad we choose Laura she was PERFECT!
My husband typically does not like to be photographed but Laura's energy put him at ease and he felt so comfortable being photographed by her. We had so much fun with her enwrgy throughout the engagement photos and wedding! She even met up beforehand and helped us come up with a wedding day schedule.
She went above and beyond and the photos were so stunning. Timeless, classic and elegant but also fun and candid, it was everything and more that I could have wished for. I recommend her to everyone!
Thank you Laura, you are amazing ❤️

ning and posing and even to a second location. For the wedding, Laura was very comprehensive in the photo selection. Prior to the wedding, Laura did a nice job at planning out the day of photography and very smartly advised us to write down our must have pictures. Laura again, made us feel so comfortable for our pre-ceremony, first look and family portraits. On a day where tension is running high, Laura did such a nice job of making sure we felt comfortable and taken care of. The ceremony, dinner and reception, Laura did such a nice job of capturing every moment. Post wedding, we received our preview photos very timely. We also received our final photos timely as well. We were an August wedding, and I had plenty of time to choose photos for the Christmas card. It is difficult to express in words how thoughtful and warm Laura is. I would choose her as a wedding photographer in a heartbeat. Good luck to all the bride's reading. I can tell you one thing, choosing Laura will definitely make your wedding a beautiful day and also reduce any stress you are feeling.

ura. It truly felt like she was a friend we had known awhile. I don’t think we stopped laughing the entire time. She was very organized and structured with her photo taking so it didn’t feel like we were standing around waiting for the next photo. When I think back to our wedding day, taking photos with Laura was truly one of my favorite memories. We also got a sneak peek within 2 days and have not stopped staring at the photos! Highly, highly recommend Laura! She will most definitely be our go-to photographer for all the years to come ☺️

de feel calm and special is what makes her so remarkable. Laura has great communication skills & is one of the nicest people you'll ever met. I am so incredibly lucky she agreed to be there for me on my big day as I can't imagine anyone else there but her. Throughout the day, she made sure we stayed stress free and had fun and she was so accommodating of all my photo suggestions and made sure to capture all the photos on my list. Her assistant, Erika, was equally a delight! You should consider yourself lucky as a bride if you get the chance to work with Laura and Erika 😊

ents to make sure she properly captured the type and quantities of photos we desired, and she 100% delivered on everything that we were hoping for.
During the engagement photos, she made us extremely relaxed and excited for our photo shoot, and we seamlessly traveled to multiple indoor and outdoor locations across a very loud and busy downtown Chicago.
On the day of our wedding, we joke that Laura felt like another bridesmaid while still doing an exceptional job throughout the day. As multiple small stresses and social curveballs were thrown her way (e.g., party members getting ready, family logistics, etc.), she was amazingly professional and personable with bridesmaids, family members, and other vendors.
Most importantly, all of our photos from both events turned out PERFECTLY. Her style of no crazy filters or complex poses beautifully and, most importantly, genuinely captured our big day. We continue to go back to both our digital and printed photos frequently to relive these memories that Laura and her team honored in the best way. We highly recommend her as your photographer!
Laura was absolutely amazing and I would 100% recommend her to anyone who wants photos that look elegant, clean and timeless. On the day of our wedding, Laura made sure to capture ...
all of the important shots without asking us to pose a million different ways or walk miles into scenic backdrops - our photo time got shortened by a brief rain shower, so we had to change our photo locations at the last second and Laura was unbelievably adaptable and professional. We LOVE the way our photos turned out and will cherish them for years and years to come. They are truly timeless - no crazy filters or weird angles, just gorgeous shots that captured US!

what will happen on our big day. We were both a little uncomfortable at first being in front of the camera, but Laura made us feel at ease and the photos looked so natural. After getting our wedding photos back, I could feel the same emotions as I did on our wedding day - now we can relive the day whenever we want :). Laura is professional, personable, and truly so talented. If you have a vision or specific photos in mind, she'll make it a priority. Thanks Laura for being such a great photographer and for being a huge part of our day!

eing so fun to be around and stress-free. We really valued how she added fun to our day with us and our bridal party and kept the day moving with us. Every interaction from engagement photos to the day of was so comfortable. We even threw a couple unique requests in for her to capture and she was up for the challenge! The pictures are amazing and you get so much from her packages. I am already trying to figure out what else we can hire her for in the future!!

agement sessions fun and easy, and most importantly the photos turned out great! We ran into some weather issues with our planned photo location on the day of our wedding, and Laura helped us pivot to alternative locations and the photos turned out great. ibility with our small wedding and what the photography would entail for that, to the transparency of her pricing, to engagement pictures, to the actual day of (and all of that is just from a logistics stand point).
Personality wise she was the perfect fit and immediately made us incredibly comfortable during all of our pictures. Laura was really able to capture our relationship and personalities. While all of the photos were absolutely stunning, the most important piece is she was able to show how much we actually like each other in all of the pictures and that is something I'll treasure far more from our wedding album.
We couldn't have asked a better photographer, and I'll always look back fondly at my wedding day and Laura had a huge hand in that. I can honestly say that pictures were my favorite part of the day because of how much fun I had with my husband during that time all thanks to Laura.

e time to get to know her couples, and strikes a good balance between candid and posed photos. The album truly tells the story of our day, showcases our love for each other, but also the love we felt from family and friends (we are huge family people!). We got the photos we needed/wanted, and the photos we didn't know we needed/wanted.
Though this review is admittedly a bit late -- our wedding was in June 2019 -- the photos have only meant more to us as time goes by!

bout the 'posed' shot either. She has this unique ability to fade into the background and capture some of the most amazing candid shots you'll ever see--making your wedding memories even more special. We cannot say enough nice things about Laura and her work. We are so grateful to have found her!

and sent out a link with all the photos. We loved this option. I would recommend Laura for her beautiful photos, fun personality and easy to work with attitude!
Laura was an incredible photographer to work with for our wedding. From the moment we meet her we knew she would be amazing. Finding the right photographer for your wedding can be...
one of the hardest steps in planning; they have to get you (and your family😊), their pictures need to be amazing quality which speak to you and they need to be able to work with your budget. After many kind of “meh” meetings with photographers, we so relieved when we meet Laura and clicked with her immediately. She really listened to what WE wanted and also helped to guide us in creative ideas and places for both our Engagement and Wedding Photos. All of her responses were timely and professional. The second shot she brought for the wedding was great as well. When it came to the “Day of” she was early and incredibly helpful to keep everyone on schedule. She was also really great at dealing with big groups of people and getting everyone together for a shot. This came in incredibly helpful when we took extended family photos after the wedding and for our bridal party shots.
Our photos turned out better than I could have ever hoped. She not only got beautiful shots of all the people who shared our wedding day with us, she got all of the little details too! The variety of photos we received really helped to encapsulate our day and tell our story. From the shots of the necklace I wore from my godfather, to us exchanging vows, to everyone celebrating with us on the dance floor, nothing was missed. Not only were the photos beautiful but we also received them in a timely manner which so many of my recently married friends were jealous of!
Laura truly went above and beyond more than I think I could ever express in an online review. One of the most amazing things she did for me was to commemorate my grandfather as a part of our wedding day. My grandpa fell very ill shortly before my wedding and about a week out we knew he would be unable to attend the ceremony. Knowing how important my grandfather was, she helped to arrange for us to visit him in between the ceremony and the reception and took pictures of the moments we shared. She handled a delicate situation flawlessly, helping to coordinate with us and our vendors to ensure this could happen. I will cherish these photos forever as they were my last moments with him.
So, if anyone has read this review in full, I hope you have the pleasure of working with Laura as your photographer. She really is the best!

one thing I went a little crazy on). After all my research, Laura was the clear pick. She was professional, but laid back and personable, which helped make my husband and I feel much more at ease and shown through in our photos. I received so many compliments from our families and guests about their great interactions with Laura and about our BEAUTIFUL photos. She captured every important moment without causing distraction.
Save yourself the time that I put into my endless search... You won't find a photographer better than Laura Witherow in Chicago.

g from out-of-town and had multiple phone calls with Laura before the wedding. She even took time out of her weekend to meet me for coffee when I was in town. She had great insights into how to structure the day and I was so comfortable leaving some details up to her, since she was the professional! The day went perfectly and, despite very blustery weather, Laura was calm, cool and collected as we braved the outdoors for some shots! Her photos of our reception and, most importantly, the dance party are fantastic.
Laura was particularly sensitive about family dynamics and made notes about our families and friends so that on the day of, group photos were smooth and seamless. Thank you Laura!

so great to work with. Our pictures turned out so beautiful, I couldn't be happier. I've received so many compliments from family and friends and many have asked who our photographer was because of the quality of the photos. I would highly recommend Laura for wedding photography!
Laura and her staff are amazing, you'll want them around for the most important day of your life : )
Laura Witherow is amazing. At our wedding she was so professional, creative and an absolute joy to be around. The pictures are more beautiful than I ever could have imagined!

ement session (which was part of our package) and the pictures were wonderful. We even did a studio photo shoot with our three dogs (not an easy task by any means) and it was great. My husband was traditional in that he did not want to see me prior to the ceremony which meant that we had a lot of photographs to take in between the ceremony and dinner. Laura did a great job making sure we got all the shots we wanted in that time. A really cool thing is that Laura posts some initial photos on her blog quickly after the event. We were able to see a preview of our photos while we were on our honeymoon! They look beautiful and we are excited to see the rest!

us for photo opps, but also stayed in the background on the day of the wedding. We hardly even knew she was there! She was prompt to post some photos on her blog, so we were able to get a sneak peak of our wedding day.
Overall, we are extremely happy with the photos and have been receiving compliments on how beautiful the photos were. I will certainly use Laura for our photography needs in the future and would enthusiastically suggest her to future brides and grooms.

nd when we left the meeting we were both sold! She had what the other photographers lacked: an easy-going personality, good sense of humor, and TONS of beautiful sample books that showed exactly the type of wedding photography we were looking for. Her cost is very reasonable and we were thrilled to learn that our package included an engagement session. I highly recommend having an engagement session before your wedding. Posing was a bit awkward for us at first and I'm happy we had a chance to "practice" for our wedding. There are not enough photo-frames or wall space in my house to put all the fantastic images that Laura captured. The has a knack for capturing everyone's personality on film and is easy to laugh and be natural with! One tip when using Laura, or any other photographer, would be to have a MOH, bridesmaid, mother, attendant, have a list of the types of pictures you want. Laura got the majority of the shots I wanted, but the day was hectic, an unexpected hailstorm cut our photo taking time in half and there were some photos that got lost in the shuffle. Laura is not a bossy person, which is nice, because you don't need a photographer in your face the day of your wedding, but be sure someone is keeping a checklist of important photos. You won't be disappointed if you use Laura as the photographer on your Big Day. My advice would be to snag her now, before she's booked!

ne blogs and checking references. Through a friend of a friend, I was introduced to Laura Witherow. I was just about to hire another photographer, but met with Laura just to cover all my bases. After a quick meeting and review of her work, I knew she was the perfect photographer for us. Just to be certain, I did check a few of her references and every single bride gave the most rave reviews. We had a fun "chemistry" with Laura during our engagement pictures -- she was so awesome to take our engagement pictures during a freezing cold December day (we needed to get our save the date out) and we had so much fun with the photo shoot. At our wedding, Laura did an oustanding job. We are so pleased with the photography and will have a hard time choosing which pictures to print and frame! Laura is so talented and creative. She is professional and accomodating. Laura was so great to work with and her personality made it feel like we working with a friend. My husband and I had complete trust in Laura's ability to capture and document one of the most important days of my life. Laura was also really flexible with payment options -- we sent checks in small increments which was so helpful to us from a budget standpoint. We are so pleased with Laura's work! I have already recommended Laura to friends and family, and we hope to use her for future family portraits.
