Lakes Cakes

st by looking at a reference photo. The samples were very generous, and the cost of the cake was by far the most reasonable out of all the bakeries we talked to.

fest wedding possible. We tried the cakes and they were wonderful and reasonably priced and advised Lakes Cakes in April of 2020 that we would be more than happy to go with them and follow up with specifics at a later date in early 2021. When my Fiance reached out this week (February 16th of 2021) to get more confirmation on our date and getting more cakes from them, we were advised that the new date and location was unavailable with no further explanation (even though the location never changed). Now we are stuck trying to find a different option where other cake vendors are also booked. Poor customer service that hopefully gets rectified in the future for other parties.

sure that our cake was allergen-free. I am highly allergic to gluten and corn products, and Heidi made sure that I didn't have to worry about enjoying my cake. She even made a separate little GF cake for me! They were also very flexible with us as we got married in the middle of the pandemic, and worked with us when our guest count was cut in half and our location changed two weeks before our wedding. I highly recommend Lakes Cakes!

ted it to look. It was beautiful. It's not just the look of the cake though. The taste of the cake is delicious. She offers a pickup tasting option which is super convenient. Lakes Cakes is more affordable than a lot of other companies that produce similar products. I definitely recommend them without hesitation.

new husband and and me and the raves started with the first table and continued till the last piece was served. We sincerely thank you for the perfect end to a beautiful wedding dinner. I am sure I'll be asked for your name and number many times. Thank you again,

n "out the door" quote. Sampling the cakes was very convenient. I simply scheduled a sample box pickup. My fiancée and I were impressed with the samples. Other places gave us a couple tiny pieces of cake, while Lakes Cakes gave us 8 cupcake sized pieces of cake and then some mousses and things. On our wedding day, the cake was beautiful and tasted delicious!!

ing process. When we were in town, we scheduled a sample box pickup which was very convenient. The box was filled with 8 different cakes and 6 different optional fillings. We chose a different flavor/filling for each of our 4 tiers. Throughout our reception, I lost count of how many guests told us how delicious the cake was. You will not be disappointed!

cake tasting, to ordering, the entire process was stress free. My wedding cake was both delicious the breathtaking in appearance.

on, but what prompted me to actually sign in online and write a review was how the owner of this business handled the situation in person. We believed we had made an appointment through "wedding wire" online, and had set it for 10am. We called the night before with our name to confirm our appointment, and were given verbal response that we were indeed ready to be welcomed for our cake tasting. He in fact responded with both our first and last name when confirming. We showed up and were met with another customer who also had a 10am appointment. We thought this was strange at first, but figured that there was a chance that perhaps this was a big tasting event, and didn't worry too much about it. When the door opened, confusion ensued. Eventually it was determined that we did not, in fact, have an appointment set--despite the verbal confirmation from the previous day. Okay, that's a total bummer. I had flown in to Michigan from Texas, and my Mom had driven 2 hours for the appointment. We made the appointment very far in advance knowing that we were trying to work around busy lives with busy schedules while planning a wedding outside of our home town (and current state). The thing is, the woman who "greeted" us was maybe the most rude woman I have ever come in contact with. She was immediately defensive and blamed us for the misunderstanding. She, quite literally, told us to get off of her lawn, which blew my mind--as I did not feel we had deserved such treatment. We had simply showed up excited and willing to try to find an alternative solution. In trying to figure out the situation, she only frowned, accused us of our wrong doing, and in no way tried to remedy the situation. I work in customer service, too. I am the owner of my business. My job relies on excellent customer satisfaction and on word-of-mouth referrals. Even when my client is the cause of a misunderstanding, I swallow my pride and try to remedy the situation as soon as possible with grace, kindness, and respect. I rarely write reviews. Truly, I usually like to give business owners the benefit of the doubt because I understand how difficult it can be. But I was utterly appalled by the behavior of this business transaction. Had she tried to kindly suggest that we had made a mistake or take ownership in any way, we would have shrugged and moved on, but since she only spoke to us with contempt, and in no way took responsibility for the miscommunication (instead only blaming us, two hopeful customers who came a long way to try some cakes) I could not bare to let something like this happen to another happy family down the road. Please beware. Sincerely, A confused and concerned bride-to-be

cake was and how different and unique it is.

o choose from and the cake was perfectly cooked.

n how great my sweets were and my cake honestly was a picture perfect execution of my vision. I highly recommend Lakes Cakes! You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you so much!!!!

awed, like they were made that day. We were quite happy with Heidi and Gregory's customer service, allowing us to try samples, and their wonderful baking skills in general. Highly recommend for excellent cake on a budget! The only downside was having to return the cake stands, as Lakes Cakes is not close to my parents' house and they were tasked with returning them, so we could make it to our honeymoon. It would be great to have a pick-up option as well, in addition to the set-up and delivery.

i and Gregory were very responsive and great to work with. They were professional and informative. Everyone loved our cupcakes and we loved that we could have so many flavors available for our guests! The cupcakes and our personal cake turned out beautifully. I would absolutely utilize their services again, as their product was delicious and affordable for a couple on a budget. The only downside was having to return the cake stands, as we planned a Michigan wedding and live in Maryland (and we were leaving for the honeymoon immediately the next day). Fortunately, we were able to have my parents drop the stands off, but they spent a lot of time cleaning the stands and drove an hour just to return them. If they charged a pick-up fee as an option, I would gladly have paid!

left the flowers and topper on the table, and they made it look amazing!

s is because I thought the flavors of our cake were lacking. But I would 100% recommend Lakes Cakes to anyone looking for a wedding cake.

STUNNING and DELICIOUS. Will use Lakes Cakes again for any size gathering where we really want to wow people.

g compliments on my cake and how beautiful and delicious is was. Thank you, Lakes Cakes!

like a traditional wedding cake on the outside. I wish I could give MORE stars!

nd wife team are friendly and easy to work with.

on the porch in the freezing weather for 15 minutes while she explained the flavors and booking process. Still the prices were great so, I was all set to sign my contract (which was just a sparse word document). As an attorney, I like to have all of my bases covered so I inquired with Lakes Cakes about whether we could add a clause that essentially said “in the even Lakes cakes is unable to fulfill obligations as outlined here, we are entitled to a refund” . They freaked out, denied my request and told me they’ve never missed a wedding and that they were offended and uncomfortable by that clause and therefore would not be able to do business with me. It seems like they lack a bit of professionalism.

nt across three flights and the several days between my initial tasting and my husband's. They were helpful trying to work within our budget, followed our particular requests for a naked style cake with minimal frosting perfectly, and were flexible in their delivery to ensure neither of us had to worry about the cake after the initial order. I could not recommend them highly enough.

ing. Lakes cakes made the process extremely easy for us coming from Chicago to our wedding in Michigan. We picked up a box of samples and knew right away we wanted to work with them. Very professional and prompt delivery! Very happy bride!

descriptions of what we were envisioning for our cake and it was exactly as we had pictured for our big day! Lakes Cakes definitely did not disappoint.

sent pictures of a simple designed cake I wanted and had to provide the fresh roses for them to design the day of and they did an absolutely perfect job!! We had a ton of compliments on the strawberry cake, which was my personal favorite!

was handmade. The cake was SO Delicious!! Probably the Best cake I've ever had.. and to top it off it was so BEAUTIFUL 😍 I can't wait to use Lakes Cakes in the future !!!

rawberry mousse, and chocolate with chocolate mousse combinations. Heidi did a wonderful job and was very easy to work with. She took our design ideas and created a beautiful cake! I would highly recommend!

he Knot and set up a tasting with Heidi, owner and chef. Our cake tasting was BY FAR our favorite wedding planning event. We loved every cake and filling combo we tried and booked them within the week of our appointment.. which was roughly one and a half years before our wedding. Clearly we were excited! We decided on 9-10 different flavors of cupcakes for our wedding with ~200 guests and also got a small cake to cut for ourselves. (We highly recommend the coconut cake with coconut cream filling...). Everyone LOVED the sweets! And we loved the few leftovers. I also worked with Heidi to surprise my husband with a groom's cake. I sent her pictures of our speed boat, our dog and my husband and I, and she created a boat cake with my husband, myself and our dog in it! My husband was SHOCKED and it was a hit with our guests. We had a fabulous experience with Lakes Cakes. They are extremely professional, sincere, cooperative, personal and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!!

k. It matched my wedding décor perfectly. The only concerns I have is the owner who I communicated with regarding all transactions and issues was not the most friendly and could use a class in customer service. At times he talked to me like I was 5 years old. In the end they ended up making a mistake with my cake and he never once apologized or tried to make it right. I was very disappointed in the way he handled it. But his wife did then step in and handled the situation/issue perfectly which I appreciated.

ke home samples of every kind and the choice was difficult because everything was so good! I have a dairy allergy and they made an entire tier for me, free of extra charge and my husband said he would have never known it was not dairy!! They were very accomodating and professional. I would highly recommend them to any bride/groom, especially if they have a dairy or gluten allergy.

accent of orange and cinnamon on top. I highly recommend Lakes Cakes. If you are on a budget they will work with you!

e favors for me, and they were awesome. They were wonderful and I highly recommend them.

idal shower. My guests were equally impressed. I had guests get extra servings. I had a 4 tiered cake with different flavors as well as 2 additional sheet cakes that were also different flavors. I communicated my vision via email and when I saw my cake on my wedding day it wad exactly as I had imagined. I can't wait to order a one year anniversary cake.

erent flavor for each tier of our cake as well as different flavors for our sheet cakes. I thought the price was very reasonable. I provided them with ribbon and directions on how I wanted the ribbon, the day of the wedding the cake looked exactly as I imagined. I overpaid accidentally and they were honest about it, called me up and sent me a check back the very next day. For a small company, they did a wonderful job. The cake was delicious, moist, and we had a ton of compliments on it.

always professional and deserve a strong recommendation.

hundreds and hundreds of photos of cakes they have done. The prices are unbeatable as well! We were very happy with our selection :)

, and it was absolutely delicious. We got tons of compliments on how good the cake was. Heidi told us at our cake tasting that she was invited to go on Cupcake Wars (I think that was the show) but declined because she is so committed to her wedding cake business and didn't want to take a month off. You will not be disappointed if you order your wedding cake here.

They offer a lot of flavor options and mousse combos. They totally customize your cake. Their buttercream is so smooth that you think it is fondant. You will not be disappointed!

, I sent Heidi a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and photos of my dress. She said that was no problem and would match the cake to the best of her abilities. The cake looked absolutely gorgeous when I saw it on my wedding day and exceeded my expectations. We are still getting compliments on it more than a month after our wedding! Definitely recommend Lakes Cakes!

ere less than a month after the wedding!
