For our wedding in Brooklyn, we were really excited to have a cake sourced from one of our neighborhood local bakeries. Ladybird has been one of our favorite bakeries for a while, ...
and after seeing Melanie's designs, we knew that we had to reach out about getting a custom wedding cake from them! From start to finish, Melanie was such a help as we tried to decide what kind of cake we wanted, and she even made the tasting experience really enjoyable and fun. Having the option to combine flavors and choose the kind of floral design that we wanted on the cake was also a plus. Overall, a very reasonably priced and great experience! Totally recommend!
We just had Ladybird cakes at our wedding and can't recommend them enough! They tasted phenomenal and were VERY reasonably priced when compared to other quotes we got. Ladybird was...
actually running a sale for the off season too. It seemed to me that they charge fairly for the ingredients and labor, but don't gouge just because the word “wedding” is involved. We had a great time at the bakery tasting ingredients and building our custom cake. Once we chose our flavors, Melanie did a beautiful job matching the buttercream flowers to our actual flowers. Our secondary cake, a Brooklyn Blackout cake, was one of the best chocolate cakes we've ever had and the chocolate lovers were very happy! The delivery went off without a hitch and we will be back for some Brooklyn Blackout cake on our anniversary.
We loved our wedding cake from Ladybird! Melanie did a great job and so many people complimented how good the cake was. We got a lemon cake, with lemon curd and pastry cream fillin...
g and then whipping cream frosting (I'm not a fan of butter cream frosting). This the same bakery we use for birthday cakes that we have enjoyed so much so it made sense to get our wedding cake from here.
Ordered our wedding cake from here and loved it. I actually grew up down the block from this bakery, and would go there as a kid with my parents, so it felt particularly sentimenta...
l. The cake was delicious, the tasting process was seamless and enjoyable, the person we worked with was friendly and helpful, and nothing felt overdone or overpriced. They were especially helpful in working with our budget, and suggested a display cake and a sheet cake so that we'd have a beautiful cake but would be able to serve everyone.
The display cake was beautiful and exactly what we asked for—we actually found one on their instagram that we liked, but I wanted different colours. I went in and recoloured it in Photoshop, and they recreated it exactly as we'd hoped. They were also pretty good about working with allergens—the groom has a fatal allergy to tree nuts and peanuts, so we were very cautious about where we got the cake from. His allergy is bad enough that we didn't want to risk a cross contamination induced ER trip in the middle of our reception, so he did end up with a separate groom's cake (since Ladybird Bakery does have nuts in the kitchen, although they took precautions and prepared our cake separately) but we felt confident enough about the safety to have it at the wedding and to have our guests eating it. Ultimately the groom tried it the next day and was fine. I highly recommend this bakery and I'm so glad they're still around!
We loved our cakes from Ladybird Bakery! Melanie was great to work with. We went in for a tasting to sample flavors, and decided on vanilla buttercream with chocolate mousse and pu...
dding filling and a carrot cake! We had one small 3-tiered cake decorated just as we described, and two backup sheet cakes. Highly recommend working with this wonderful neighborhood bakery!

re about having them do our wedding cake. The tasting was so much fun, you’re able to mix and match all the different cake options, fillings, and icings to get your perfect combo! During the tasting Melanie came out and discussed our picks, made a recommendation to mix the buttercream and cream cheese frosting (so good!), and about the cake design. We followed up the next week to confirm our order and book! Melanie was responsive through the whole process and delivered our cake the day of + placed our flowers on it. My husband is still raving about the cake and we love that we can just pop on over to get another piece whenever we want! Thank you so much again Melanie!!
As big fans of Ladybird Bakery's Brooklyn Blackout cake, we knew it was a no brainer that our wedding cake had to come from here. Melanie was very accommodating and easy to work wi...
th, and helped make recommendations on portions for our guests. We ended up going with a completely different cake thanks to the fun tasting session, where we got to try all the different cake, filling and frosting variations. We had SO many guests rave to us about our cake during and after our wedding – people went back for multiple servings, and many told us it was exceptionally delicious. We're so happy with the way it turned out!
We chose Ladybird Bakery because it was super close to where we were having our wedding and got good reviews, and we are so glad we did! Melanie met with us over a month beforehand...
to do a cake tasting, and we got to try the fillings, frosting, and the cakes themselves. We were able to select a cake that was beautiful, delicious, and in our price range, and the whole process was incredibly easy and professional. On the day of our wedding, Melanie personally delivered the cake and applied fresh flowers to it at the venue—it looked absolutely stunning! Our guests raved about how lovely and tasty it was—lemon cake with raspberry jam and lemon custard filling, with a cream cheese and buttercream frosting and cascading cream flowers. It was so yummy and perfect for our outdoor August wedding. Thank you Melanie and Ladybird for adding some sweetness to our day! 😊
We were super happy to have come across Lady Bird Bakery, on our search for our wedding cake. We were looking for options that wouldn't be over the top in price, but really delicio...
us. We had a tasting at Ladybird Bakery, which was such a fun experience. Melanie was wonderful at communicating and understanding what we wanted. We did a simple rustic design, which went perfect with our wedding. They delivered right to the NYC venue. The cake was amazing and everyone loved it. Thank you Melanie.
Ladybird Bakery did a wonderful job making the desserts for our wedding. We did not want a typical layer wedding cake. Instead, we went with the Brooklyn Blackout sheet cake, apple...
tarts, and lemon bars.
We did a tasting to decide what flavors to go with for the sheet cake. Everything was delicious and it was a hard time deciding what flavor to go with (although no decision would have been a bad one). My now-husband had heard of Ladybird Bakery from his colleague who once brought the Brooklyn Blackout cake to their office. That is what we ended up choosing because it was just mind-blowingly delicious.
Melanie was easy to work with for our tasting and wedding day. After placing our order, the process was seamless to coordinate payment, delivery, and drop off with instructions to the venue on if/when to refrigerate and cut.
As it turns out, I didn’t even eat dessert on the wedding night, but our guests raved about how wonderful it all tasted!
Melanie was incredible. I sent her pictures of the cake we wanted for our wedding and it was perfect. On top of that, she was able to make the entire cake dairy free and delicious!
Ladybird Bakery was wonderful. Melanie and her staff did a fantastic job and were super chill, accommodating, and professional. We had a free tasting of all their options and then ...
she worked with us to find what would work best for our headcount, taste, and budget. I sent photos of flowers for inspiration and they created a gorgeous design. For a reasonable extra fee, Melanie drove the cake to the venue (2+ hours from Brooklyn) and everything went smoothly. Our guests raved about the delicious cake! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
