About this vendor
Kate blends documentary storytelling with a refined, artistic perspective. That means your gallery will feel natural and emotional, but also beautifully composed. You’ll get images that feel honest and timeless—photos that bring you right back to how the day felt, not just how it looked.
Rather than directing every moment, Kate focuses on anticipation, awareness, and connection. When guidance is needed (family portraits, timeline flow, or a quick reset when things get chaotic), you’ll feel supported—but not staged.
Kate Ive Photography is proudly queer-owned and deeply committed to creating a safe, affirming space for all couples. LGBTQIA+ weddings aren’t a niche here—they’re celebrated, understood, and documented with care and respect.
Whether your wedding is traditional, nontraditional, intimate, big, gender-nonconforming, barefoot, or beautifully chaotic—Kate meets you where you are. All love is welcome.
Couples often describe Kate as easygoing, reassuring, and someone who feels more like a trusted friend than a vendor. That comfort translates directly into your photos.

If you are looking for a photographer for your wedding then we highly recommend Kate Ivy Photography!
Kate was a recommended vendor from our venue. The photographer was a very imp...
ortant choice for us as we wanted someone who would capture the whimsical essence of our wedding we were going for, with it still feeling very personal and Kate was just the person! As a lesbian couple, it was also important to us to find women and queer owned vendors. We met with her over the phone for a consultation as we were exploring potential photographers and knew fairly quickly, she was just who we were looking for! We expressed our vision for the day, the energy we wanted to be captured and also made it clear while the photos were important, we didn’t want our whole wedding day to be just taking pictures as we wanted a lot of time to focus on celebrating as well! She understood this out of the gate and explained her process and vision very clearly, which aligned with our vision extremely well.
Kate was also great about making sure she had the clear list of our wants in terms of family photos, tablescapes and some of our own portraits. She had excellent recommendations as well for spots for our first look. As an out of town couple, we were not as familiar with the area but knew we wanted lots of mountain views and trees and she did not disappoint!
Day of wedding, Kate and her second photographer (and partner, they are such a dynamic duo!) Taylor, arrived promptly for our getting ready photos. They hit the ground running with us all day. It was important to us that we did not see each other before first look, so Kate & Taylor left with each of us separately so we could have that special moment of seeing each other for the first time.
They really understood us as a couple out of the gate and our first look felt very authentic. Even when the clouds rolled in and the skies opened up, they were well prepared with umbrellas and made the shoot feel so magical in the rain!
During our ceremony, they were there to capture all the important moments. Even though we did not have a wedding party, they were very patient throughout our family photos as a few different iterations got added last minute. They also captured some incredible silly and special candids of us throughout the evening, which again just showed how much they understood us as a couple so quickly.
We had asked Kate last minute (literally the day before!) to add an hour as we wanted to capture a bit more of the reception and dancing. She replied instantly and was more than willing to do so!
She also works extremely fast! As my wife said in an Instagram post - she’s a wizard! We had a TON of previews in less than 48 hours. It was so special to be able to send photos to family and friends so quickly after the wedding.
If you are looking for a photography team who will pay attention to your wants and needs, make you and your partner feel extra special on your big day and who will capture your very personal essence, Kate Ivy Photography is the way to go! We cannot wait to see our full suite and if the previews were any indication of what is yet to come, we know it’s going to blow us away!
Finding the right photographer was one of my top priorities for our wedding. I wanted photos that were creative and unique but at the same time weren’t too “try hard.” Kate’s photo...
s are the perfect sweet spot – they are artsy but not overly edited, and she made sure to get some traditional portrait shots for our parents and family. My husband and I are both a little shy and were nervous about being awkward in photos, but Kate and her partner, Taylor, made us feel totally comfortable and provided a lot of direction. The photos turned out stunning - they capture all the emotions from the day and really reflect the cozy, rustic, winter vibe we were going for. Family and friends have said we look like models (which we definitely are not) and that the photos look straight out of a magazine! Not only were Kate and Taylor efficient on the wedding day, they got us a sneak peak within 48 hours and delivered our entire photo gallery within 3 weeks. They were super fun to work with and we wouldn’t recommend anyone else!

Once my fiancée, now wife, and I decided on a location for our private elopement, we began the search for photographers. We not only wanted someone who was familiar with the area, ...
but also someone who shared the same values as us. I thank Instagram every day for leading me to Kate’s page. Our big day felt easy and carefree, thanks to the care and effort she put in behind the scenes. She offered suggestions for cake bakeries and florists (all within the LGBTQ+ community, which was a huge plus!), and even picked the cake up for us day of. There was an immediate comfort the moment we finally met in person at the beginning of our session. Kate is so warm and welcoming, and I think it also helped that she’s a Taylor Swift fan like us 😉. All throughout our elopement, I knew the pictures were going to come out great, but once we got our portfolio back, the results exceeded all of our expectations! I would recommend Kate a thousand times over to anyone in search of the perfect wedding/elopement/engagement photographer.
So unbelievably lucky to find Kate to do our wedding photography. She was our wedding photographer at the Lyons farmette . Her photos were truly incredible, hands down one of the ...

g items with her that made the photos more fun and engaging - a bottle of champagne, cute lanterns... We had such a blast shooting with her! She captured our excitement for our wedding day perfectly. On our wedding day, we hired Kate and her partner Taylor. Kate and Taylor were extremely professional, friendly, and fun on our big day! Kate was a HUGE help to us in helping us do bits of planning for our big day... She helped us think through the timeline, was flexible with last minute changes, and even recommended amazing Day of Coordinators! Our wedding photos are absolutely breathtaking. They look straight out of a magazine! She perfectly captured the amazing lighting, my beautiful family and friends, and most importantly, the outpouring of love between my husband and I on our big day. I cannot recommend Kate Ivy Photography enough!!! I would love to book her again in the future for a more "playful" session too. Her work is so stunning and versatile! Loved loved LOVED working with her!!
Hiring Kate as our photographer was hands down the BEST decision we made while planning our wedding! We felt so comfortable with her and she made the whole process so easy and fun....
Neither my wife or I are used to being in front of a camera, but Kate made us feel so relaxed and captured our moments so perfectly. Having beautiful photos we could look back on forever was one of the most important things to us, and we couldn’t believe how much we loved the photos we got back. Friends and family told us they looked like they were out of a magazine! We would, hands down, recommend her to any and everyone!
Kate and Taylor were absolute dreams to work with! Very professional, talented, and we had amazing communication through our planning process. Our photos turned out so amazing and ...

Through any life event we would want captured, this amazing team will forever be our #1 choice.
I cannot recommend Kate Ivy enough... You will not be disappointed picking Kate (and her partner, Taylor) to capture your wedding day and all the joyous emotions that come with it!...
My now wife and I absolutely love our photos and getting to relive the day anytime we look at them. Kate and Taylor are professional, creative, and had the ability to put not only my partner and I at ease but made our whole wedding party feel comfortable and allowed them to be themselves. Leading up to our big day, Kate was so responsive, and helpful in recommending locations to shoot our photos. We wanted a mix of the city and something with mountain views, and she nailed it for us. She was extremely organized and thoughtful with the timeline for shooting, and even had a backup plan or pivots if needed. I highly recommend Kate Ivy Photography for anyone seeking a stress-free experience as well as stunning and memorable wedding photos!

eople who made the entire process for our destination wedding so easy and enjoyable! Kate was actually the one and only photographer we talked to before booking - we literally had butterflies after our initial call and connected right from the get go! We were also lucky enough to have had them shoot our very snowy engagement session in Estes Park on NYE last year. My husband just said, "Make sure you mention how dedicated and professional they are since they drove to Estes in an actual blizzard and trekked through the snow/cold with us for 2 hours." :) We are so blown away with all of our photos and still can't believe they are ours to relive our day forever - seriously they are breathtaking and brought us to tears! From the absolute bottom of our hearts, thank you so much Kate and Taylor for being such a special part of our wedding day. The best of the best for sure!

ut our story and our vision for our special day, we knew she and her partner, Taylor, were the perfect photographers for our wedding. They were intentional about connecting with us so we would feel comfortable having them there to capture one of the most special days of our lives. They were clear in their communication and flexible as we shifted our wedding day schedule. On the day of the wedding, Kate and Taylor were such a calm and supportive presence for two brides who don’t always feel comfortable or beautiful in front of the camera. They were so quick to send us a sneak peek, and the full set of pictures arrived less than a month after the wedding. There truly aren’t words to describe how perfectly they captured our day, our relationship, and our love for each other. I continue to look at the pictures in awe of how well they retell the story of such a special and important day. They were such an important part of our wedding team, and we are so incredibly lucky to have had them there!

I met Kate in 2019 when she photographed my sister's wedding. Fast forward to 2022 and my husband and I knew the only photographer we wanted to work with was Kate. We hired Kate for our engagement photos as well as our wedding day and can say without a doubt - it was one of the best decisions we made! Her photos are nothing short of magical.
Kate has a keen way of making you feel so comfortable while capturing the "in-between" moments of your love story. I truly wish I could give Kate 100 stars because her art is unlike anything else I've ever seen. Kate produces unique, beautiful, and timeless photos and has an incredible personality to match.
My husband and I were so honored to get to work with Kate and would recommend her to any couple looking for a once in a lifetime photographer to capture their love story!
Wow! Kate is truly incredible. Kate is an amazing human who is so passionate about her talents in photography. Prior to hiring Kate as our photographer, my husband and I were both ...
so shy & intimidated by the camera. But, just 5 minutes into our engagement shoot with Kate, our guards were down & we knew we hired the right person. On our wedding day, Kate captured every special moment, glance, kiss & feeling without us ever having to strike a “pose”. Throughout the night, she thrived from the chemistry between my new husband and I. Her ‘up for anything’ mentality provided us with some amazing scenic backdrops, even if that meant she had to lie completely on the ground to get the shot. Kate was also so quick to respond when going through our planning process. She provided great input that helped guide us to planning the day of our dreams! Thank you Kate, for everything. We can’t wait to hire you again in the future!

he special moments of the weekend. She helped keep me on track for the entire day and we actually were somehow ahead of schedule at one point! Kate not only beautifully captured the joy, love and family togetherness that we were hoping for, but she found incredible places all around the Mexican pueblo we were in to take photos. We couldn't wait to make prints and give them to family and friends. Hire Kate and she will bring your wedding dreams to life in photos!

Kate was so incredibly helpful with planning locations and timelines. Since we’re from Pittsburgh, there is only so much we could research about great spots for photos. She made suggestions and took us to some amazing places.
Honestly, we were pretty nervous for the photo session - we are awkward/stiff in front of ANY camera. But she was so warm and friendly from the start, and super helpful in directing us, that it actually felt pretty natural!
When we got the photos back, all we could say is WOW! Every single photo is absolutely beautiful, and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Kate is such an incredibly talented photographer in every way, and we are beyond thankful to have found her.

easy with Kate! In addition to the ease, we loved how she explained her style and we left that coffee shop knowing she’d be the “one”. Leading up to our elopement Kate was communicative and accessible. Day of she arrived early and even scouted some amazing spots we had NO idea existed. Kate had an amazing balance of a soft presence while also being direct when needed. Following our wedding we received a sneak peak within a week and the full album about a month after. Her artistry captured so many gems! We continue to receive so many compliments! We highly recommend working with Kate. We are SO happy we got to work with her.

Besides the fantastic service that we received, the pictures were better than we could have ever imagined. I was left speechless by the album that she quickly sent over after our wedding. She is a true artist and leader in her industry. Her eye from capturing the moment, all the emotions and beauty on your wedding day, is extremely impressive. She completely understood the bohemian, rustic style that I was going for. I received SO many compliments on our photos and were even picked for a few local magazines features because of how amazing they are. I could not recommend Kate more to anyone looking for a photographer. Thank you so much again, Kate!

On our wedding day, Kate was an absolute magician at managing time and people in order to make sure we got all of the pictures we wanted without taking too much time away from the actual wedding. However, one of our favorite parts of the wedding was being able to sneak away with her and take gorgeous pictures with just the two of us. She is so easy and calming to be around!
