Honey Crumb Cake Studio

about it! It was a delicious cake, and I'm glad we got enough that people could happily take seconds. They were so easy to work with and made sure we could get the cake to our wedding easily.

't wait to have it again for our anniversary.

row down the choices. Throughout the planning process, Carla was extremely communicative, detailed, and organized. And the cake itself - I mean, WOW! Look at that beauty. And it tasted even better than it looked. We can't thank Carla enough for delivering such a perfect cake and providing an incredible experience throughout.

drew us to the shop were their sugar flowers. We assumed the quality of cake would be comparable to other bakers with less exciting decorations and felt comfortable going forward, especially since the shop was so well reviewed. While I understand that having one tasting day per month, having those samples be pickup only, and offering a very narrow pickup time is convenient for the staff, it is not convenient for customers, especially since it takes 2 tastings to sample the entire set menu (there's and alternating a/b schedule to taste 4 of their 8 menu flavors at a time). There are also limited numbers of reservations available for these tastings and they are fairly expensive for the size of cake you receive, which is a small round container of a single layer of cake, filling, and frosting with a few bites each. When we tried the cakes on the day we had picked them up, the hot milk sponge flavors were all dry and had a texture somewhat like angel food cake. The buttercream was also a bit lighter in texture than my personal preference. The lemon, chocolate, and carrot cakes had a texture we liked more than we liked the hot milk sponge, though the lemon cake was dry, too. Our favorite flavor was the almond hot milk sponge cake with apricot compote and marzipan frosting. Since the website suggested that it was ok to ask the shop to do things that are not on their menu, we inquired whether we could have an almond flavored cake that was the same texture as the cakes that were not hot milk sponge. This seemed to offend Carla, who went about in a long, condescending, and unprofessional way to tell us this would not be possible and that she stands by the recipe for her cake. We apologized and ordered the cake without any changes to its normal execution. On the day of the wedding, we were surprised that the floral elements were larger and more whimsical than we expected from our inspiration images (a cake the shop had made in a previous year). An even bigger surprise was that the cake was moist and tender, far different and better than the sample we tried. I wish that Carla had either explained how the sample would be different from the final product, or had been more brief and kind in her communication as to what was possible to create a cake we would enjoy eating and sharing with our guests.

h fabulous cakes over and over again without a little bit of magic? My husband and I ordered a cake tasting box with six of her custom and unique flavors, and you know it’s a good problem to have when you struggle to choose just one. In the end, we went with one of her micro wedding cakes in the espresso pecan crunch flavor, which was so flavorful and fluffy with delicious crunchy pecan bites. We also asked her to add sugar flowers that matched our wedding flowers. It was definitely worth it. Her flowers added a beautiful custom touch that tied our dessert table into the rest of the wedding. We will absolutely be ordering an anniversary cake when the time comes. Thank you for helping make our wedding day so special!

ke; she only had good things to say about Carla. We ordered a medium one tier micro-cake (chocolate with salted caramel buttercream, stucco exterior) for our wedding. The decoration options, cake flavors, and possible filling combinations available made it impossible to go wrong with customization. The actual cake was amazing. It had the perfect texture, was absolutely delicious, and looked beautiful. While there is a small window for pick-up, there was no issue getting our cake. They were very polite and provided instructions to make sure there would be no cake-tastrophies during transit to the venue. Thank you, Carla!

nt of character and personality he possesses so the next best option was his face on a cookie..... YES you heard me.... Lenny on a COOKIE. Not only was this a fairly last minute request, they accommodated and were a sheer joy to work with (please see google review for the glorious photos). Thank you SO MUCH, xoxo Callie and Nick

couple of pictures and suggestions of what sort of design we wanted, she ended up creating an incredibly stunning cake for us! We had the vanilla lemon blackberry cake and it was soooo good. Still dreaming about it to this day.

bmitted our inquiry and ordered a tasting box and Carla followed up super quickly to update us on her availability and outline our options. She was super sweet and friendly when we picked up our box and we were so impressed by how good the sample cakes were! Once we started the ordering process, Carla was super helpful with our decision making, always responded fast, and gave us clear breakdowns of what the pricing would look like based on our choices. We ended up choosing a chocolate cake with raspberry filling, decorated with four sugar flowers and greenery. On the day of our wedding we were completely blown away by how beautiful and intricate the flowers were. All the guests were genuinely surprised that they were made out of sugar! And it was absolutely delicious. As a long time vegan, I am completely floored by Carla and her team’s ability to make a vegan cake that is just as good as a non-vegan cake, and make it visually stunning on top of that. When we first started planning, we were unsure that we’d be able to find a vegan cake at all, let alone one that was so perfect in every way. We are so grateful that Honey Crumb totally knocked it out of the park, and that we get to keep our sugar flowers as a beautiful memento from our celebration.

Carla! My main concern was being able to eat the cake without getting sick. Carla made the best gluten free cake ever. She listened to my concerns and she explained how the cake would not have gluten. She said that the flavor I chose and the flavor my husband chose would go great together. Other family members who had allergies with gluten were so excited to eat the cake as well! Carla then topped off the most scrumptious flavors with beautiful sugar flowers! All of the guests devoured the cake! We had none left at the end of the night! My husband and I had to make sure to grab our pieces after we cut the cake!! Thank you Carla for your thoughtful and beautiful work! You are an amazing artist!!

d have a high bar for our desserts so really hoped Honey Crumb would have something available for our wedding and the cake would taste as amazing as it looked. We were completely wow-ed on both counts. Not only does Honey Crumb have an extensive set of plant-based and dairy-free cake options but WOW are they delicious! We could hardly decide between the light and flavorful vanilla almond cake with raspberry filling, the decadent chocolate cake, or the lovely, slightly spiced carrot. In the end we picked the almond cake and the carrot cake with a lemon buttercream frosting and the guests could not believe it was dairy-free and were raving about the cake all night. That doesn't even get into the sugar flowers which truly stole the show. At first guests couldn't believe they weren't real! We really appreciate Carla (a South African like the groom) making us some lovely Queen Protea flowers to represent the groom's birth country and being so lovely to work with. Thank you Carla and the Honey Crumb team!! We highly highly recommend them for your special day.

went with the lemon & blackberry which was both summery & pacific-northwesty! When we had the meeting to discuss design Carla was very well prepared with a similar wedding cake she had done previously to help illustrate our vision, and then was flexible when we had questions and wanted to make the cake fancier by adding some of their signature sugar flowers close to the wedding. Absolutely beautiful and delicious cake!

orks her magic for an unforgettable and truly unique design. I'm frequently in awe of her artistic capabilities. They are unparalleled in the greater Seattle area! Her flavors and service are equally exceptional, making clients feel like each of their cakes are her most important for the season. I love the chance to work with Honey Crumb Cake Studio and also love the chance to be a customer for personal home celebrations as well!

dy knew how amazing they were, and so cake club made every other week feel like a celebration!

he has for her work was obvious at every step of the way, and her enthusiasm for the work she did was infectious and provided an unanticipated boost of joy for the day's proceedings.

as her team created. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish.

wanted, and just from the hour we were there she was able to quickly sketch up our dream cake. We still have no idea how she did it. Her sugar flower art is fantastic, and we managed to save them after the wedding as a keepsake. The flavor combinations were the best out of any tasting we went to (still in love with the brown sugar boysenberry we chose!). We would highly recommend getting your cake from here. You will not be disappointed! Thank you so much, Carla, for crafting our dream cake. We will see you in a year for our anniversary slice. :)

ting, and creative -- we told her what our vision was and she brought it to life! Our wedding cake was a dream. We had two flavors, the Curious George and the Cocoa Arabica. Both absolutely delicious! We could not be happier with Carla and the Honey Crumb team.

at Weddings in Woodinville, and we chose her for her modern cake style and endless raves. What she whipped together for us was everything we dream of, and more! It had a rustic-romantic touch, towering at four tiers in a pleated buttercream, and garnished with sugar flowers. At our cake tasting, we loved the three flavors so much that Carla did all of them. The cake was very much enjoyed by our American and Viet-Chinese family and friends. Throughout the whole process, she was always available to answer any questions. She even helped us plan the timeline for the reception! Having over 300 guests at our wedding, her knowledge and experience really helped put us as ease. On our wedding day, she even lent us her cake pedestal and servers from her very own wedding! But it doesn’t stop there....After the wedding she offered to preserve our sugar flowers in a dome - just like Beauty and the Beast! What a beautiful keepsake to remember our special day for decades to come. Carla is seriously the whole package. If you’re looking for a cake that’s a crowd pleaser, and someone fun to work with, we highly recommend our girl! :) We love you, Carla! - The Jenson’s

. everyone thought they were real! Carla was very professional and easy to work with. We look forward to commissioning more amazing creations from her in the future!

gamot syrup and lavender buttercream) because I am a fan of lavender and floral desserts. I was told by the wedding planner that the London Fog is a favorite and often selected for weddings and it did not disappoint. Our cake was designed to align with the wedding color scheme and style, and it tasted amazing! Our guests were delighted with the cake and we were delighted to have leftover cake after the wedding. On that note, we are saving a couple of slices in our freezer right now for our anniversary and the anticipation is building. Carla was responsive and prompt with email correspondence--overall a delight to work with.

o wrong and if you have multiple tiers you can have a couple different flavors! Strongly recommend!

autiful than I had anticipated. Throughout the planning process she was organized, professional, and kind.

. Carla makes the absolutely best tasting cake we have ever had. When we did our tasting I couldn't help myself and blurted out "holy s*#!" as it was really that good. Even my hubby who swore up and down that he didn't like cake was clamoring for extra bites at our tasting. Carla did an amazing job of listening to what we wanted in a cake and then making it look even better than we imagined in real life. Her mastery of sugarwork is exquisite, she made a gold fleur de lis for the top layer of our cake that many of our guests thought had been bought somewhere since it looked so perfect. We had the pink champagne and the toffee vanilla latte and now I'm trying to figure out the next excuse to order a cake from her. Word has gotten out about Carla's amazingness so do not sleep on booking her, I truly do not believe there is any better cake to be had in Seattle or Western Washington period.

a cake artist and is one of the best in the area! We absolutely loved our cake and seeing it in person at our reception was a wonderful feeling! There are plenty of flavors to choose from; selecting ours was hard because we liked so many of them!

ONE, hands down! Carla was fantastic to work with, my fiancé was very tired of going to bakeries so Carla gave me To Go tastings and I could not put them down. Every flavor was fantastic! I had asked for something very specific that I had in my mind that was not on her menu and she was able to make it happen! We ended up going with two flavors, my custom flavor and the Curious George which was tasted like eating banana bread with Nutella buttercream. We got rave reviews at the wedding...especially from self described "cake snobs". I also had a very distinct look I wanted on the outside which was a purple ombre look, from light purple to dark purple down the cake. It turned out amazingly and really set the whole theme for our wedding décor! I told my husband the only thing I want on our anniversary every year is a Honey Crumb cake! Thanks Carla!

e to work with Carla. She tweaked the cake recipe just slightly for us and was very focused on making our wedding a success. She is a truly gifted baker, and we would definitely recommend her to anyone who asked. Thank you so much Carla for making our day so amazing!

truly love what they do, and genuinely care that their clients are happy. At no point did we ever feel pressure to choose a cake except the one we wanted, and even then, Carla laid out options to keep the costs down. It's clear that Carla and her team love what they do, and it shows in their delicious cakes and their excellent customer service. The hardest part about the cake process was choosing flavors from Honey Crumb's insane menu. I was only sad that I didn't get to try them all, but it's impossible that this cake studio could make a less-than-BOMB-DELICIOUS cake. We showed photos of our cake inspiration, and we watched it come to life on our wedding day, better than we could have ever imagined. Can you cry over a cake? Because I nearly did. Our guests were snapping away photos, but were more blown away by how delicious everything was. We can't thank Carla and her amazing team at Honey Crumb for working with us, for always being communicative, and most important, for delivering exactly what was promised: a heavenly cake that looked as great as it tasted, and tasted as great as it looked.

and the tasting fee is not applied to the cake, as is the case with other cake vendors. But overall, we were happy with our selection.

er at the tasting that she would create an amazing cake for our big day! Granted I am an emotional man, but when I walked into the room as Carla was finishing setting up the cake, tears of joy instantly appeared. It was even more beautiful than I had imagined! Five weeks later and I still have friends and family commenting about how great the cake was - not only visually, which was stunning! But also the taste of the cake. Cocoa Arabica is my new favorite! Your wedding day is one of those big moments in your life - don't focus on price. She was very comparable to the other vendors we tried and without a doubt, she will create a memory for you!

d tried several samples of cake. We were immediately sold on her creativity, amazing portfolio of work and excitement. Carla was extremely easy to work with and very detail oriented, methodical and organized. She is an absolute pro. After only a short planning session we arrived at a cake design which was perfect for us for our November 8th wedding with 100 guests. On the day of the wedding our cake arrived - Carla had color coordinated it perfectly with our cake-toppers (which we brought to our initial meeting) and delivered a beautiful cake which our guests absolutely loved. And...it...tasted...delicious (can't stress that enough). We highly recommend Carla to anyone planning a wedding who wants the absolute best!

were good, no one even came close to Carla. She may be a bit expensive (like most other cake vendors out there) but she was totally worth every penny. We met with Carla on a weekend and pre-arranged which cakes we wanted to try. We explained what we wanted for our dream cake and showed her a photo of the details we wanted, and to our surprise Carla sketched a beautiful and perfect cake that exactly matched what we had in mind. We later requested to try an additional two flavors and Carla was nice enough to arrange that for us. We ended up going with a three tier cake with two flavors: the pink champagne cake with raspberry mouse filling; and the citrus grove cake-- a lime cake with blood orange meringue filling. Both flavors were AMAZING. I like to bake, and the most important thing for me is that cakes be deliciously moist. Carla's cake were just that. Carla was wonderful to work with. She is an incredible professional who created a comprehensive contract we could sign online. It was really easy to communicate with her. When the wedding grew closer and we realized we would have 100 guests as opposed to 150, Carla adjusted our cake dimensions and the price accordingly without any trouble at all. Carla delivered our cake and arranged the fresh flowers the florist had left on the cake artfully while we were at the church. Our cake was gorgeous and tasted amazing. It was a perfect way to end our delicious meal. My mom was still talking about how delicious her slice of cake was a full two weeks after the wedding. I was so happy I got to bring back some leftovers so my husband and I could eat them at home the next day Carla was incredible and our wedding cake was perfect. I highly recommend that you consider Carla if you're in the market for a beautiful and delicious wedding cake that you'll remember for a lifetime.

e and excelled logistically when it came time to arrange a meet up so we could try out her delicious baked goods. Throughout our planning process she responded in a timely manner with quotes and a sketch of our cake. She was patient as we figured out whether or not to add different flavors or cupcakes. On the big day, our cake arrived on time and looked beautiful. Our top layer was even vegan and gluten-free for guests with dietary restrictions. The flavor of her cakes is not that of a typical over sugary, dense, spongy wedding cake - this cake is delicious, moist, and rich in flavor. We are looking forward to our one year anniversary when Carla will make us a small cake to enjoy. I'm sure the first bite will quickly transport us back to our magical day.

fferent flavors for our cake and all were delicious. Thank you, Carla!

lm and confident that it was contagious. We edited our designs a handful of times (well in advance of our wedding) and she came back with even more beautiful ideas each time. She also made sure we kept cost within our budget. Best of all the cake was insanely delicious! Everyone was raving about it!

ery closely based on what we talked about and a couple were her own interpretation of the theme/venue/etc. She truly captured the feel better than I could have. Her cake fit our wedding absolutely perfectly, and it tasted so good. We had her decadent chocolate and red velvet. Both were moist and delicious. This is not your typical wedding cake. She uses wonderful ingredients and puts a lot of love into every cake. We really enjoyed working with Carla, including a very fun meeting and tasting, where she even brought a “bonus” flavor for us to try just for fun. We would recommend Carla of Honey Crumb Cakes for any event – her cake is delicious and you are truly supporting an artist.

to some others and shop around (or perhaps I just wanted to taste more cake!?). Carla's cake was not the cheapest cake I was quoted, but it was not the most expensive, but her's was by far the best tasting. We were sold. I gave Carla a beautiful picture of a cake I had seen online that I loved(I would call it simple, but I know that to create this cake, it was far from simple. Stacked tiers with a vine of green leaves wrapping around the cake. Carla worked with me to design a cake inspired by my picture that would fit within my budget. She did a fabulous job! Everyone kept asking me who had made my cake, it was beautiful. I highly recommend Honey Crumb Cake Studio to any future bride.

ivery/presentation. the cake looked perfect, clean, and modern. Her design aesthetic is simple, elegant, and classic. The cake flowers were hand-made and looked real!!! I honestly couldn't tell what cakes she used real flowers and when she didn't! Bonus - the flowers keep well for souvenir. We're not a fan of cake toppers so this was perfect. And the taste - amazing. Out of ALL the cake tastings I went to (I went to a bunch bc I really cared about the taste of my cake), hers was the best. And on the day of, it tasted as amazing as the tasting day! Moist, full of flavor, not super-sugary sweet. And unlike other bakers, she personally comes to deliver and assemble the cake on sight. Delivery people don't care about the cake - but Carla does - she will assemble it personally bc it will look perfect, without any transportation nightmares. And for the price and quality, she was easily the best baker we've found out of the many in the Seattle area - which is why we went with her. Hands down the best wedding cake maker in the state. We've tried many cakes in the South, Pacific Northwest, and Northeast (we are foodies and have lived in a lot of places in the US) so I can say that with a good amount of confidence. We were so amazed at the cake, we're ordering more... not for any special occasion, but bc we want to taste her cakes again! It's too bad she doesn't have a store-front bc we would be regular customers.

ul but tasted amazing she has unique flavors! We wanted a non traditional initial wedding cake topper. Our last name just so happened to start with the same letter as our favorite colleges logo so we asked her to make a replica for our topper and what she made was better than I could have imagined!

and even made an amazing Tardis surprise groom's cake.

wedding was Carla. She worked with me on designing the coolest grooms cake I have EVER seen and one of the most beautiful wedding cakes out there. Our cakes were the talk of the town and tasted and looked fabulous. Everyone was talking about it and I plan on recommending Carla to anyone and everyone. I also plan on hiring her for every birthday and anniversary we have. :) Thanks Carla! - Erin Billmaier

her creativity to make our cake better than we could have imagined. Her sugar flowers look exactly like the real thing.
