About this vendor
HitchSwitch was born of an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to make life easier. HitchSwitch founder Jake Wolff was in his first year at Fordham Law School, where he toyed with the idea of starting a business and hoped to experience his "Eureka!" moment.
As most good ideas come from real life, when Jake got married in 2010 his wife wished for straightforward, easy step-by-step instructions to simplify the name change process, and HitchSwitch was born!
Jake believes no one should ever wait in long lines at multiple government offices; only to find out they completed an outdated name change form. He sought to create a website where one could quickly and easily change their name after the "Big Day."

Not worth it. Definitely don't get the passport picture option. It's been 4 months and my passport picture is still in processing status. I didn't get a response back from the pass...
port company so I reached out to Hitchswitch instead only to realize it's the same customer service. I at least received a response from Hitchswitch (albeit 2 days later) that they would credit me for the passport portion but I've yet to see that credit. I should have trusted my own organization skills and handled the name change process myself or used a more reliable company. It's unfortunate they are a partner of The Knot because I trust The Knot, but I would never recommend Hitchswitch to anyone.
Do not trust this service if you are on any kind of timeline. I placed an order for passport photos through the PassportNow app on August 28th. The app explicitly promised a proces...
sing turnaround of 6–8 business days.It has now been 3 full weeks (14 business days), and my order is still completely stuck on "Processing." What makes this worse is the total lack of customer service. I sent multiple follow-up emails to both PassportNow and the parent company, HitchSwitch, and even left a voicemail on their support line. They have completely ignored every single inquiry.Because of their total failure to deliver and absolute radio silence, I was forced to go out and pay to get my photos taken elsewhere yesterday so I wouldn't miss my passport deadlines. They took my money and completely disappeared. Avoid HitchSwitch and PassportNow at all costs—go to a local pharmacy or post office instead.
Not worth the price. They send you 4 forms that can be printed online and you only need to use one envelope because you have to physically go into social security and the dmv. The ...
worst part of my purchase was upgrading to the platinum package for the passport photo. This was an additional $40 for the easy of having a photo taken at home and delivered to you but the photo never arrived. I had to reach out twice and they continued to tell me to "be patient". After a month and a half of waiting so I could submit my passport paperwork and move to the next step, I asked for a refund and went to cvs. They only refunded me $15... complete waste of time and money!

e social security office with my name change application.
Waited several weeks and finally called the social security office. They let me know that I cannot change my name by mail (although Hitch Switch said I could and sent me instructions on how to do it). I contacted Hitch Switch through their website and they never even responded.
I had to go to the Social Security office and do everything again.
TERRIBLE customer service. Terrible company. I'd request a refund if they'd respond to me! I didnt use anything else in their packet because I couldn't trust it to be accurate.
Hands down completely worth it. I had no idea where to even START with this whole process and I was stressing out. Hitchswitch made it so easy and I especially love the support tha...

I did some research on name change...and everything sounded so painful. I was completely dreading it but then I heard about Hitchswitch. They seriously made the process so easy. I ...
was able to get my name change done within 1 month and it could have been faster but waiting is apart of the fun when you are dealing with government offices.
But the package I received with my name and basic information pre-filled helped ease the burden. It came with a helpful todo list that also made the process super easy to keep track of. I just made appointments when I could or walked in, signed where I needed to and just handed over the papers and the process went very smoothly. I also did my passport picture with Hitchswitch and it was just super easy (no waiting at the local drugstore).
Can't recommend the service enough. So thank you to the team at Hitchswitch I can finally say my wedding checklist is over :D
This was extremely easy being a busy mom and not really having the downtime to get everything done on my own!

nd you probably could, but it's really helpful to have someone just tell you step by step in order what to do next, AND give you the exact forms. It's not even that expensive, so it's worth it. You can also contact them with your questions which I've found to be helpful, too.

to complete and have thought of pretty much any scenario you may have in relation to changing your name. And even if they hadn't thought of it, you can purchase the service where you have a personal agent helping you through it and get your questions answered there. Great service that I have already recommended to my coworker who just got married. She loves it too!

e didn’t think she would have been able to navigate through stuff without them. We both purchased their full service package, and it really was just as easy as advertised. They sent every form completely filled out with all my information (except sensitive personal info like a social security number), and post marked envelopes so I was covered whether I decided to go in person or mail my items in. I chose to go in person, and my process was so easy with all my applications already filled out for me, and that their website provides office location information, and the documentation you need to bring. I would recommend their service to absolutely everyone, and plan on getting it as a gift to friends that are getting married in the future!
