We saw Hit Play at a cousins wedding a few years ago and when we got engaged we knew we wanted to go with them. At our wedding they were absolutely fantastic. They did an incredible job feeling the crowd and everyone absolutely loved them, a couple of our friends even asked Louis for Hit Plays info for their weddings. Revival, Zombie, Vienna, and Mr. bright side to close the night was epic. Book this group you won’t regret it. Thank you Hit Play!!

Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Despite the incredibly diverse styles, the songs in the dance set all share one common thread: high energy, tried and true bangers that always keep the dance floor moving. Lynn, the lead female vocalist is multilingual so in addition to singing all the hits in English she can also sing beautifully in Spanish, Hebrew and French to name a few!! Adding Andy's (drummer) super high vocal range to the mix allows even a small 4 or 5 piece band to be able to sing almost every style and genre imaginable with multipart vocal harmonies to boot! When you book Hit Play for your wedding you will not only get an incredibly energized performance, but also unparalleled service and communication throughout the entire planning of your event. In the months leading up to your wedding, Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. With around 400 songs to choose from and a state of the art sound system and uplighting, Hit Play will make the night perfect. Unlike many New England wedding bands you may have seen that have a set list of songs that vary only slightly from one event to another, Ryan will "call audibles" from a variety of musical genres during the performance to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. This allows the night to be a more special and memorable experience that you and your guests will still be talking about months after your wedding! Hit Play promises to be here for you to answer any questions and make your event one that you and your guests will never forget!

Ryan, Danielle, Chris and Luis are amazing! They truly made our night so special. So many people came up to us during the night and the next morning raving about how good the band ...

was. Ryan is an excellent communicator which helped us feel so at ease going into our big day. My husband and I didn't leave the dance floor all night. I couldn't recommend them more and we can't wait to see them play again soon!

Ryan and his band were excellent and truely made our big day special. We did more of a rock and roll event and his band was able to accommodate perfectly. Many our guests mentioned...

to us it was the best wedding band they have ever seen. For our package we had guitar, bass, keys, drums, saxophone and 3 vocalists who were all excellent and clearly were passionate about the performance. Ryan especially is a guitar virtuoso with a huge range of styles. They exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.

We can’t say enough good things about Ryan and Hit Play. From the very start, Ryan was incredibly organized, communicative, and genuinely invested in making sure our wedding music ...

was exactly what we envisioned. He walked through every detail with us ahead of time, asked thoughtful questions, and made sure all of our preferences and special requests were understood. The music throughout the entire event was spot-on. The acoustic cocktail hour set created such a great atmosphere. The dance floor was packed all night long. Hit Play played a huge role in making our wedding unforgettable, and our guests are still talking about them. Truly a great experience!!

ith him, Ryan was so kind, patient with our many questions, and put us at ease. He did a wonderful job with all aspects of the wedding - ceremony music, cocktail hour set list, easy listening music during dinner, and MCing all speeches/introductions. We had a few “must play” songs that the band did an awesome job with. We made a scheduling change regarding speeches just a few days before the wedding and Ryan was responsive and helpful in making sure all that went perfectly! I also love that there are so many different options to fit different budgets. If you are looking for a wedding band, Hit Play is the way to go!

It was a pleasure working with Ryan and his band HitPlay! Ryan was extremely responsive and patient with me during the booking process. He even made a DJ add on to the band package...

happen last minute! He took the time to review the form I filled out prior to the wedding to make sure he understood all the details and special requests we had for our wedding! Everything went off with out a hitch! The live acoustic music at our cocktail hour really added a classy feel to it which we loved! The band played classic crooner music during dinner which was exactly what we wanted. The DJ spun some amazing mixes playing off the crowd’s energy which was amazing. The band had everyone dancing and singing along all night. Everyone loved them! 5 stars ⭐️

that we needed them for our wedding. We really wanted a band that we could see play before booking. It was the absolute best choice! From our first meeting to the last song, the band exceeded all expectations. Ryan kept us on track through meetings and helpful resources like the playlist survey to deliver a night better than we could have imagined with every single song we requested. They delivered an outstanding performance and kept our dance floor packed all night. Even over the holidays our friends and family keep raving about the band.

Ryan was awesome to work with. He made the whole event go smoothly. We had around 90 people at our wedding and the band was a big hit. Everyone told us how great they sounded....

e, accommodating, and truly committed to making our day perfect. The band is really talented and the vocals and sax were a HIT! What stood out the most was how unbelievably flexible the team was. We had planned for a string quartet to play our ceremony outdoors, but due to on-and-off rain, they couldn’t perform outside. Without missing a beat, Ryan quickly stepped in, set up a speaker, and made sure the ceremony music we'd carefully chosen was ready to go. His quick thinking and helpfulness was so appreciated. Highly recommend Hit Play for any event—exceptional service and talent!

Our wedding guests could not say enough good things about Hit Play. All night, they had people of every generation on the dance floor. They absolutely crushed our ten must-play son...

gs, featuring them in the right moments to maximize their impact. And the rest of their set list had the perfect pacing and energy. We wanted a real band rather than a traditional wedding band. Musicians who loved to play together, and do so nightly at bars in the city, not ones meeting for the first time that night. And we can’t overstate how many people noticed the difference and thanked us for that. To those guests on the wedding circuit, Hit Play’s energy and talent was fresh and undeniable. But they weren’t just great musicians. Ryan was professional and easy to work with from the very first call through the night of the wedding. All to say, we can’t recommend Hit Play more heartily.

came together perfectly on our wedding day. The acoustic music during the ceremony was spot on-- Ryan even learned a song that I requested for the walk down the aisle. As for the reception, the band did an awesome job! My fiance and I were shocked by their extensive song list. We met with Ryan before the big day and discussed our music style. He really nailed the vibe that we were going for to create the perfect atmosphere. In the days and weeks following the wedding, our family and friends have continued to rave about the music. Overall working with Hit Play was a flawless experience. I cannot thank Ryan and the team enough! I absolutely recommend this band to anyone looking for live music at their wedding.

I am not even kidding people were up dancing before dinner and between courses. Our wedding was May 2023 and I still (Dec 2023) get compliments from family and friends about the band. You should book them, you won't regret it! Sam and Adam

loor was packed all night and our friends and family are still commenting on how fun our band was months after our wedding! Ryan was very easy to work with throughout the wedding planning process and was always available to answer our questions as they came up. We had the band play our first dance, father/daughter, and mother/son songs live and they were AMAZING! We also had Ryan and a few other band members play during our ceremony and cocktail hour and highly recommend adding this on! We can’t recommend Ryan and Hit Play enough. If you want your band to be one of the highlights of your wedding day, look no further than Hit Play!

ive throughout the whole process and made sure he heard our vision and brought it to life. We had a couple of zoom sessions with him ahead of time as well so that he could really make sure he understood what we were asking for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. He was flexible with his timing to ensure that we had extra dancing time, and even DJed for some time after the band was done. He was incredibly accommodating to us, letting my husband perform his own song, and even letting him join the band for a song. The band played a great variety of music and kept everyone engaged. We could not be happier with how it turned out - all the guests were up and dancing the whole night. Thank you Ryan and Hit Play for helping make our wedding perfect!

night and the day after telling us how phenomenal the band was!! Ryan played acoustically during the ceremony and his renditions of Yellow and Landslides were tear jerkers. They were also able to play our first dance song as well as our family dances live and were so so good. We had a phone call with Ryan beforehand to tell him our vibe and discuss must plays/ do not play and we could not have been happier with what they chose as the final set list. Every single song had everyone dancing and singing at the top of their lungs which was such a highlight of the night. I truly wish we could give them more than 5 stars!!!

e wanted a PACKED dance floor all night long, carried by a lively 7 piece band. Through our many emails/texts/meetings, we chatted about what I thought my guests would want to hear and not want to hear. I picked out a few request songs, but other than that I did not give him a song list, nor did I feel the need to. And DAMN did he deliver. My guests ALL NIGHT were asking me if my husband and I hand picked the song list because it was so true to us as a couple while also resonating with our family and friends. I happily told them NOPE, no set list was provided - Ryan just knows his stuff, how to read/work a crowd, and the vibe we were going for. We had so much fun and as we saw family and friends after our honeymoon, the FIRST thing they remember and want to talk about was the band. Best day ever - it would NOT have been the same without Ryan and his incredible band mates! HIRE THEM!

We recently had the pleasure of hiring Hit Play for our wedding reception, and we cannot express enough how thrilled we were with their performance. From the very first note, they ...

had our guests captivated and transformed our celebration into an unforgettable night of pure entertainment! First and foremost, the band's energy was contagious. They exuded passion and enthusiasm, which was reflected in every beat and melody they played. Their vibrant stage presence had everyone on their feet, eager to join in the celebration. From the young to the young-at-heart, no one could resist the call to hit the dance floor! Speaking of the dance floor, it was never empty. Hit Play knew exactly how to keep the momentum going, seamlessly transitioning from one song to another without missing a beat. Their diverse repertoire catered to all tastes and genres, ensuring that every guest found their favorite tune. Whether it was classic hits, current chart-toppers, or timeless anthems, they played them all flawlessly. One of the most impressive aspects of the band was their ability to engage with the crowd. They effortlessly interacted with the guests, taking requests, and encouraging sing-alongs. It felt like they were part of our family, bringing everyone together through the power of music. Their charm and charisma created an intimate atmosphere, making the event feel personal and heartfelt. Ryan was amazing to work with in the lead up to our wedding. He helped us finalize our first dance and parent dance songs and was so organized and thoughtful as we got closer to the day. Ryan was also great in learning some additional songs which really meant so much to us. If you're looking for a wedding band that will exceed your expectations, Hit Play is the absolute best choice. They not only kept the energy up and the dance floor full, but they also created an electric atmosphere that will be etched in our memories forever. Our guests are still raving about the incredible entertainment provided by this talented group.

on. I was extremely particular about what songs I did and did not want played, and Ryan worked really closely with me to make sure all the songs I wanted were either played by the band or during a DJed break (Ryan also added a DJ set after the band finished playing, so we were able to get all our non-band songs in). Hit Play absolutely rocked, and totally blew away all my expectations. Everyone danced all night, and was raving about the band at our brunch the next day.

edding band. We both love music and wanted to make sure we had a band that would keep the entire night moving. We got that and much more with Hit Play! From the moment we first reached out, Ryan was incredibly fast and friendly with his responses. The band has a very diverse catalog and they pay attention to the details with special song requests and blending together the genres you want to hear for the night. Having the conversation with Ryan a few weeks before the wedding really sealed the deal and we knew we were in good hands. From providing excellent MC duties, to learning covers, and offering DJ services, Hit Play really does it all. They even let the groom’s band play a few songs to kick off the night which made it that much more special and memorable for us and all our guests! We had about 100 people at our wedding and the dance floor was packed all night, which was exactly what we were hoping for. Months later, our guests are still talking about how much fun they had and how great the band was. This is a talented and accommodating group for sure, so don’t hesitate to book them!

My husband & I booked Hit Play for our December 2022 wedding. We, and our guests, truly are speechless and for many reasons. Ryan acted as MC and did a fantastic job with the cerem...

ony music, cocktail hour music, and reception introductions, transitions, and music. Ryan even performed a life rendition of our first song dance (it's an older song from the 1930's and did not have an appropriate recorded version for our first dance vision). This meant he learned the entire song, lyrics and all, and played it on his guitar. It was incredible and exactly how we envisioned it, except BETTER. We are so thankful to Ryan for learning that song for us, and can't thank him enough. It made it truly special! In addition, we've heard nothing but compliments and good things from all of our guests (ranging in age from 84 years old to 3 years old) about the live music performed by the band and the DJ music. The band sounded fantastic, the song selections were perfect, and all of the different instruments and vocal ranges were just simply outstanding. Lastly, rounding the night off with that last song (that the band also had just learned ahead of our wedding, and was performing it live for the first time together)...wow. It was all around such a fun day/night, largely in part because of Hit Play. We don't know what to say to express how grateful and thankful we are for finding and booking Hit Play for our special day, so: thank you to Ryan and all of the bandmates so very much. You all were a huge part of creating our dream day/night, and we are grateful to have found you guys. If anyone is considering booking a band for a wedding or other big event, look no further than Hit Play!!!

he months/weeks leading up to the event to iron out details and discuss logistics. On the actual day, the band did a fantastic job taking our do-not-play list and developing a perfect set list for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We hired Hit Play to perform at our wedding in July 2021, and we were beyond satisfied with everyone’s talent and professionalism the whole night long. They were incredibly easy to...

contact and were up front with pricing and different options we could go with. Ryan took the time to talk to us about what we were looking for a couple of weeks ahead of time, and he and the band knocked it out of the park by playing most of the songs we requested but also all songs that we really liked. Most impressive was the fact that they were able to learn and play a song which was not on their list for our first song. The dance floor was crowded the whole time. They took care of our ceremony music as well, and it was all amazing. Over a year later, we still have friends and family who bring up how incredible Hit Play was at our wedding. You won’t regret hiring them!

We had such an amazing time at our wedding and a large part was because of Hit Play! We had originally booked a DJ for our wedding and when we postponed due to COVID I knew I had ...

to reach out to Ryan and see if he was available. Ryan was so easy to work with and there was always great communication between us. He is so knowledgeable not only about the music, but of what goes into the entertainment of a wedding and how to get the crowd going. After almost a year, our guests are still talking about how fun our wedding was! If you're thinking of having a band at your wedding, hire Hit Play. You won't regret it!

Mike R

Where to begin… we decided that we were not going to let COVID ruin our plans for our big day. After speaking with several different bands and discussing our intentions, thoughts...

and itinerary, Ryan was the one guy who felt as if you were speaking to a college friend who was trying to actually help rather than create more drama. We had to work a little to get around state regulations for COVID in regards to no dancing and limited guest restrictions etc as we were getting married on Block Island. We opted to work with Ryan on guitar/vocals and two other band members to do the acoustic version of hit play…. After about, 20 minutes the no dancing regulation was thrown out the window. These guys had almost every guest out of their seats dancing in some fashion. We even collected donations from crowd to hire them for the rest of the evening to play instead of the local entertainment who was supposed to play at the bar next door bc they were so good. In addition, Ryan basically replaced our wedding planner that we had to part ways with a month before the wedding. He played at the ceremony, he coordinated speeches, Dj’d dinner service and basically took control to insure everything went smoothly. I am not sure whether I am writing a review for a wedding planner or a wedding band at this point but as I look back and reflect on that night, it would have never been the wedding that people are still talking about with out the help of Ryan and the musical talent of hit play.

Megan M

Hit Play was SO awesome at our wedding on 6/11/2022! Leading up to the wedding Ryan was very professional and easy to work with. He was definitely not an added stress to my plannin...

g, but rather one of the most exciting parts of it! He provided a link to a planning document which was super helpful in a time where organization is needed! The whole band was very flexible with traveling, changing ceremony & reception locations and keeping the party going all night long! After having conversations with Ryan prior to the wedding, he completely grasped our vibe and taste in music and knew how to pick up on the crowd throughout the day/night. Everyone loved his voice as well as Lynn's and we got nothing but compliments on every band member. Instead, I actually heard complaints from people who were sore the next day from dancing so much! We love you Hit Play and wish we could do it all over again!!

Molly P

I cannot put into words how amazing Hit Play performed at our wedding last October. All 250 guest were on their feet from the minute they came on stage until buses were pulling out...

of the venue. My husband and I even passed on cutting the cake because I refused to leave the dance floor. If you are hesitating at all - DONT! BOOK NOW! Best decision we’ve ever made.
