It feels like 5 stars is not enough - this place deserves all 5 and more! The Event Center at Highland Brewing is the best venue we could have chosen. The Barrel Room was the most beautiful venue for our rehearsal dinner/welcome party. The staff was incredible (thank you Kirsten & Karoline!!) and were dedicated to making sure we all had such a great time. Our rooftop ceremony and cocktail hour were literally more beautiful than we could have ever imagined and our reception was absolutely perfect.
We were just under 30 days before our wedding, when Hurricane Helene devastated the entire WNC area. Postponing our entire wedding was a difficult and emotional decision to make but the staff at Highland was incredible throughout the entire rescheduling process. It is amazing that even though they were facing personal and professional challenges, we never once felt abandoned or neglected by Kirsten, Brandi & Erin. Everyone was so gracious and patient and accommodating and we are so thankful for their dedication to us and our celebration that was made so apparent by their communication and teamwork.
Everything from the amazing views on the rooftop, the beautiful Barrel Room, the gorgeous industrial vibe of the event center, the shockingly affordable prices, and the perfect staff made for the best wedding weekend ever! Even days later, our guests are still talking about it.

The Event Center & Rooftop features soaring high ceilings and large windows that flood the space with natural light. Accommodating up to 200 guests, it is perfect for lavish receptions. Above the Event Center, the spacious 3,000-square-foot Rooftop is an inspiring backdrop for your ceremony, boasting panoramic mountain views and a shipping container bar. The Barrel Room is a cozy, more intimate space featuring exposed metal roof beams, warmed up by 3 gorgeous hanging live planters and a wall lined with barrel racks offering a perfect ceremonial backdrop. This room accommodates up to 100 guests. Combined, The Event Center and Barrel Room can meet capacity for up to 280 seated guests and 450 for mingling style get-togethers.

If you are a plant lover, Highland takes excellent care of their hanging greens in the Barrell Room and their flower boxes on the rooftop looked amazing!
The staff at Highland were professional and clearly experienced, making the entire planning process a breeze. Bailey, our event coordinator, was an absolute dream. She handled all the details and was instrumental in coordinating between our planner and vendors.
Highland provided our beer and wine, and they made it simple to apply for a liquor license so we could also have a full bar. From start to finish, everything was smooth, organized, and perfectly executed. We couldn’t recommend Highland Brewing Company more as a wedding venue.

toured several places but once we came across Highland we knew we had found the one. From the start it had everything we wanted for a wedding reception, a perfect outdoor rooftop overlooking the mountains, a perfect cocktail hour spot on the roof and the reception place downstairs was PERFECT for dinner, drinks and dancing to follow.
Erin was so wonderful to work with from the start. She communicated everything with my husband and I, giving us facetime tours and meeting us every time we were in town to visit the space throughout the wedding planning process. The entire Highland staff was top notch including our day of coordinator Kirsten and every single bartender...everyone was so nice and amazing to work with.
The space honestly speaks for itself. The rooftop views are stunning and elegant and the perfect spot for an outdoor ceremony. The flow is perfect because guests can remain on the rooftop for cocktail hour and then everyone walks down a beautiful stairway into the space which is perfect for any amount of guests and has a great spot for a dance floor. The views of the brewing inside was also a cool touch. The space is honestly beautiful on its own but was also the perfect canvas to really make our vision come to life.
I cannot write this review without mentioning the BEER! Highland beer is seriously so good, you even get to pick your own small batch beer and name it for your wedding which our guests thought was so cool. All of guests could not stop talking about how good it all was, there is also prossecco, wine, seltzer, cider and plenty of NA options so there is truly something for everyone.
It was the perfect unique wedding space for a stunning ceremony and incredible party. Our wedding would not have been the same if it was not here and this was hands down the best decision we made. Our guests LOVED this venue and people are still talking about how incredible, pretty and fun everything was. Seriously I have no negative things to say. We LOVED it here and it will always be a special place we can now go back to visit or think of each time we have a Highland beer!

in, and most of them (b/t caterers, planners, flowers, etc…) from the local area know and love working with Highland. That was super important to us as we were from out of town and coordinating from a distance.
The beer is fantastic. They get all the small personal touches right. The space itself speaks for itself and doesn’t need to be dressed up significantly to have a really classy evening.
We were shooting for the roof for our ceremony and ended up needing to shift to the Barrel room at the last minute, and it was all handled seamlessly.
Bailey and her team was great to work with and communicative throughout. We can’t recommend Highland enough!

Surrounded by the scenic mountains, the celebration kicked off on the deck with hors d’œuvres, craft beer, drinks and a quartet of blue grass musicians. Again, all the behind the scenes organization went seamlessly and we felt free to celebrate with Bailey and the Brewery working hard to make the night a success.
Our guests were further delighted as we moved downstairs to the unique and special Barrel Room for dinner. Bailey helped with our seating plan and getting the tables set and looking very welcoming and while we enjoyed dinner she made sure our electronics and monitor were set up for the slideshow and speeches.
Beyond the professionalism, we so enjoyed working with kind people who were always available for our planning questions and who were friendly and helpful with our guests who’d travel from far away. Our celebration was so fun and like anything, it’s the people and setting which make the lasting memories. We highly recommend the historic Asheville Highland Brewery for your special occasion- you will be thrilled as we were!

The rooftop deck is a stunning ceremony backdrop (our guests were raving), but even if the weather doesn't work out, you have the beautiful barrel room as a back up option which is a win win!
Another perk is they have a bunch of decor options in-house that can help you bring some extra life to your event without having to rent from elsewhere. And did I mention the iconic beers?

We do not live in Asheville, so we did our initial venue tour via FaceTime and even through a phone camera we were sold! I DIY'd and brought a lot of our decor and Highland staff was amazing in helping us unload the decor the night before during our rehearsal and storing it safely overnight.
Highland's preferred vendor list was spot on and they had impeccable recommendations for vendors they see frequently which made planning from afar and the day of so seamless!
My only critique about our experience with Highland was that during the planning process (which for us was a lengthy 2 years) we were passed between a few different event planning staff members. While it all worked out in the end, it was a bit annoying to have to revisit specific questions and details with each new person.
Overall we'd definitely recommend Highland to any couple looking for a wedding or event venue as it was THE BEST day ever! We can't wait to come back and visit next time we're in town.

a fantastic part rustic/part industrial feel. Weather-permitting, the ceremony on the roof was beautiful, with a backdrop of the mountains and blue skies. The staff were all very accommodating and happy to answer any questions we had. Of the venues we toured, Highland not only felt the most like "us," but was also a great price compared to many places in the area. It was an easy decision at that point and we couldn't be happier with how everything went!

idn’t really want to splurge on decorations and we didn’t have to because of how beautiful the Highland venue is on its own! The rooftop area was one of my absolute favorites, and it is the perfect place to have your ceremony and cocktail hour (and, of course, the inside space is absolutely stunning too if you need to move inside because of weather!) The team at Highland is also so friendly, kind, and responsive, and everyone I spoke to was so helpful during my planning. And one of the best things about Highland is you can have a special wedding beer on your wedding day! It was such a fun little addition. Overall, Highland is an absolutely fantastic wedding venue if you’re looking for something fun and unique (seriously, you can even get some awesome photos in the canning room!) in the Asheville area!

arrivals to the welcome party had a separate entrance so they didn't have to disturb our dinner as we were wrapping up. The Highland team makes the planning process super easy and fun! We had our own "wedding beer" and they leaned into the unusually warm temperatures by serving our guests popsicles and prosecco. Their A/V team coordinated our curated playlist in both event spaces and showed a photo slideshow we put together during our dinner. The spaces were the perfect size for our ~60 person dinner and ~160 person welcome party. We had the best wedding weekend kickoff here and would highly recommend hosting your event at Highland!

There is a bar on the roof for cocktail hour and 2 bars inside plus room for our liquor bar, which was perfect as our guests like to drink! Throughout our planning process Highland was very easy to communicate with and very accommodating of any requests/questions we had. Our coordinator, Tyler, was great! Most importantly they allowed our dog, Taco, to be in our ceremony and that meant a lot to us! We highly recommend this venue!

READ FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION. We are giving 5 stars because the day of was perfect and they had a brand new coordinator who was awesome! But just a light warning, 7 months before...
the wedding we were informed that a large public event would be taking place at the same time as our wedding. Our contract indicated the potential for private events but not large public ones. But we also signed over 2 years prior to the actual date, so the more recent contracts may have more specific wording. Make sure to ask about potential large public events (this was a 5k race) or check the contract for this wording in case it is a deal breaker. I think this 5k is usually in July, but my husband and I are not involved in the Asheville running scene and had no idea it existed (also were not told it was a possibility until the above mentioned 7 months before).
With that, Highland was extremely accommodating, let us start earlier to avoid crowds, gave us parking spaces, and comped some decor. Don't let the above stop you from having a wedding here, just make sure to ask for these sorts of details! Our in house planner (Bailey) was new but absolutely perfect. She was super calm and organized! The venue itself was perfect, tons of places for pictures and a great all around space. The bartenders were so cool and fun too! Except for the little snafu prior to the wedding (which Highland made up for) they were the perfect venue for us!

You honestly don't need many decorations, Highland is beautiful on its own & any greenery/flowers/etc you add just elevates it even more. Like one of my friends said, "The vibes are immaculate." Even though we couldn't use the rooftop for guests (winter), my husband & I got to take photos up there, which was super fun. The whole Highland team is so professional and friendly, they definitely know what they're doing and are flexible & helpful through the entire planning process. Great team & staff, awesome drinks, and a beautiful & versatile space – definitely recommend Highland to couples getting married in AVL!

We were able to see how much they've continued to invest into their spaces, and the big variety of options they now offer. We had a moderately large group (~140 people) and loved the versatility of the indoor-outdoor space, flexible layout options, and beautiful views with easy access. We also loved that they have an elevator, which was a huge help for some of our older guests. 10/10 would recommend forever!

of rain (which was needed!). Further, they provided a preferred vendor list that included groups who had done wedding there before. We chose almost exclusively from that list and it was so easy! Even with minimal decorations and having to move the ceremony indoors on the morning-of, this venue looked great and all our guests commented on how nice it was and how much they liked the vibe. Our guests also liked getting to try a lot of different craft beers. Sarah was our day-of coordinator representing Highland Brewing and she was very easy going and worked great with our vendors and planner, and accommodated all of our requests. I would highly recommend using their venue for your wedding!

The venue and the entire team did everything in their power to create a beautiful day for us. Highland’s location, spaces, inventory of rentals and of course, beer, cannot be beat. There is absolutely nothing else like it in the Asheville area and we could not have been more thrilled to get a little bit of both the beautiful scenery of the Blue Ridge mountains, and then indoor industrial chic vibes that Highland provides. We chose the Barrel Room for wedding reception with the rooftop for our ceremony for an intimate gathering of close friends and family. We heard nothing but praise from our guests for the amazing views the rooftop had to offer that day with weather being crystal clear. The bar staff were extremely personable and attentive to our entire party. The venue was cozy, comfortable and fulfilled all of our hopes for the wedding we always wanted. Setup and transition from the rooftop to the Barrel Room was seamless. Our dog, who got lots of love from the staff, was able to accompany us during the ceremony so our special baby could see his 2 favorite people on their big day. Nothing better than beer and brunch for our special day. We highly recommend Highland Brewing Co. for anyone’s special event. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience than this.

the perfect mix of having more laid back brewery vibes but incredibly classy! The whole event center is absolutely beautiful! There is so much space to take advantage - our wedding was in December and so we had our ceremony/reception on the main level with cocktail hour on the mezzanine and it was perfect!! Plus the rooftop was kept open for us and guests to go up and enjoy the mountain views. On top of the amazing space and delicious beer, the staff were all incredible! Brittany and Marissa were amazing to work with! They were always kind, professional, and quick to respond to any questions leading up. Plus gave us both a virtual tour and in person tour when we were in town! And Brittany made our wedding week/day completely stress free and such a blast! And the beer selection - wow!!! So many of their amazing beers to choose from plus a great wine selection! If you love beer and Asheville, Highland is your spot!

ur on face time with us showing us the entire event space and answering every question thoroughly and thoughtfully. Over the course of planning, we worked with Nikki Mitchell, Marissa Burns and Nicole Vega who were each so kind, responsive and accommodating in the midst of a pandemic and a booming 2021 wedding season. Every time we checked in, there was a new improvement they were working on in the space (new floors! refinished stage! new mural in the barrel room!) so it's clear they are deeply invested in their events wing. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour in the barrel room, and moved into the event space for the reception which was perfect for our ~100 person guest count. Our guests loved the space, and I can't recommend enough having a huge bar at the end of the aisle to grab a glass of champagne or a beer at the end of your recessional! Each vendor we hired raved about working with Highland, so the day-of coordination, set up and teardown was seamless. Highland set the tone for the entire event, and we're so grateful for all of their help pulling off our perfect wedding!
