Beyond disappointed with the service I got through this caterer… my husband and I had our wedding on September 30 and we were really looking forward to the delicious food we had pr...
eviewed at our tasting. We trusted Bill and his team as they seemed to have everything prepared and were fantastic to work with…up until the wedding day. I spoke with Bill a few days before the wedding and he assured me that his team would be arriving at 3:30p to be ready for the 5p cocktail hour. Day of, 3:45p rolls around and they still have not arrived so my day of coordinator calls Bill only for him to brush her off and tell her that they’re on their way without expressing ANY concern that they were late. The team finally arrived at 4p, 30 minutes after I was originally told they would be there. Second, the caterer was supposed to place the table cloths on all of the tables, which they did not. This left my day of coordinator, mom, and grandma with this responsibility. As a reminder, they were already crunched for time because the catering team was 30 minutes late. No decorations could be placed until the tablecloths had been set. Third, the catering team was still setting up appetizers at 5p when cocktail hour was supposed to start and guests were arriving. So unprofessional. Fourth, one of the cupcake flavors was wrong. I had asked for white chocolate raspberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (as outlined in the contract) and they brought chocolate raspberry cupcakes with white chocolate icing. Lastly, my day of coordinator relayed to me that Sam and one of the other people on the team were unhelpful and presented an attitude throughout the night and that they had to be prompted on the timeline and restocking items. I spoke with Bill on the phone about these concerns and he was argumentative and condescending, not interested in hearing about these issues. The only reason I’m giving two stars is that the food tasted good and one lady on the catering staff, Virginia, was kind and attentive. Bill’s menu prices are low which can be attractive to someone looking for a caterer, but lesson learned: you get what you pay for.
Bill was fantastic. From the moment he sat us down to let us sample the wedding menu; to the moment he said goodbye to us at our wedding, he was pleasant and professional. We highl...
y enjoyed working with him. Other vendors tended to be vague about the overall final prices or surprise you with hidden costs when the final bill was tallied. Bill did none of this, he was up front with us from the beginning. When you talk to Bill, he will tell you that he put his name on his business because he wanted to pin it to his reputation. This showed in every interaction with him.
The big thing though... was the food! Of all the tastings we had done, his was by far the best. He sat us down at his business where we had a small table for just the two of us. He proceeded to serve us each courses sample tasting, gave us a moment to enjoy the fare, then return to discuss how we felt about each. The privacy he gave us was important as it felt like we could freely discuss how we felt about each meal. We left there knowing confidently that he was the caterer for us.
Bill was in communication with us leading up to the wedding as needed. It was a relief to know that one big area of our wedding was taken care of in the weeks leading up to the big day. The day in question went flawlessly. Bill's team had all the food ready and looking tasty right on time. They even helped us setup outside glasses and plates that we brought for our theme. We did a buffet for serving; the double line style combined with efficient table dismissal meant that everyone in our wedding was happy and eating within minutes of ourselves.
We had an amazing wedding and we can't thank Bill enough for his big part in helping us achieve that.

ed issues. Best of all, we had so many compliments on how good the food was! We will definitely recommend Gilchrist Catering to anyone looking for a great caterer!
Bill Gilcrest was phenomenal to work with, from beginning to end for our wedding reception. He was personable, responsive, and made sure everything went smoothly. Bill and his team...
prepared an excellent and delicious dinner that all our guests raved about! I highly recommend Bill and his team to cater your next event.
Bill and his team are fantastic! We are from Illinois and did a destination wedding in Summit County of Colorado. It was a little nerve-wracking trying to figure out who to hire w...
hen we weren't from the area. He called me after I initially emailed him from a brochure of recommended caterers and it was just apparent that he is professional and really does a nice job and cares for his customers. It was actually nice to talk to him directly! He has been doing this for 30ish years! He definitely has the experience and knowledge. He and his team made all of our appetizers, our buffet, and even the dessert and cake! It was nice to have everything all in one. Not only is he easy to talk to, he listens and does exactly what he says he is going to do. He was so helpful and even gave advice on things I wouldn't have thought of! Bill made the planning process so simple and even helped me with other vendors - he gave me florist, rental company, and DJ recommendations for the area. I am so appreciative! The food at our wedding was delicious and we had SO many compliments! I even did a cocktail hour with appetizers at our ceremony location for our wedding and then the rest at our reception venue and Bill and his teams handled it with ease. Bill is top notch!! I would highly recommend him and would definitely use him in the future if the opportunity would ever present!

c. His prices were very fair. Would hire again in a heartbeat.
Bill and his team did a phenomenal job catering our wedding. Many people had told us that the food at the wedding was never as good as the tasting but were dead wrong. Not only w...
as the food amazing (his garlic mashed potatoes are to die for and his salmon is liked by people who normally don't like salmon) but he took our request to make short ribs which was not on his original menu. We hadn't tried the short ribs prior to the event but we were not disappointed! Actually, I'd like his recipe.
His staff was very professional and attentive to our guests. When a floorpan error led to a bit of a seating snafu his team jumped right in and took care of everything. Bill and his team really know what they are doing and are pro's in the business.
Gilchrist Catering catered our small wedding at Marina Pointe pavilion.
We met with the owner, Bill Gilchrist, and knew right away, we found our caterer. Although he has been in...
the business for a long time, we found he still has a passion for his work. He sat down with us, talked about the menu we chose, and gave us different options. We felt like we had many and were impressed with his flexibility. In addition to that, he made suggestions as to the amount of drinks to order, even though we were doing this part on our own.
On the day of the event, Bill and his crew helped set up tables, as it was very windy. Being the pro he is, he brought out the duct tape to keep table clothes in place. This was so appreciated. I do need to mention, he allowed me to pick up table clothes ahead of time so we could set up a bit ahead of his arrival.
The set up was beautiful. Right after the wedding, appetizers were passed, multiple times to make sure everyone had them. The were wonderful, crab stuffed mushrooms, grilled Prosciutto wrapped asparagus. There was also an antipasto tray set up.
Bill made sure we were all in sync with serving.....apps, dinner, and cake cutting. We did an 8 inch cake with additional lemon, chocolate and raspberry bonbons.
He mingled with guests, asking if they would like more, and if they enjoyed to food. The photographer was a friend of mine, and she said she didn't want dinner, so I didn't include her in the count, however Bill personally invited her to get dinner. I really thought this was lovely of him. Our guests loved the food, and we heard many compliments about the dinner.
Both of the servers he brought with him, were smiling the whole time, pleasant and professional.
Every email and question that I had was answered in a timely manner, his cost was reasonable, with absolutely no hidden costs, and we had no stress what so ever about the catering.
I would highly recommend Gilchrist Catering.

ofessional, kind, and attentive. Bill and his team took care of everything - he included linens, flatware, dishes, and staffing in the cost which we found to be SO helpful for budgeting and planning. The staff even saved a few plates of appetizers from cocktail hour, which were served to us almost immediately after our entrance to the reception (such a personal, thoughtful touch!). Bill was so easy to work with, was very responsive to emails or phone calls, and was so easy to trust, as he demonstrated excellence in all he did. We were very pleased!!

nt. What we didn't expect was his attention to our guests ... making sure the 4 year old had a piece of cake before he melted down, serving a slice of cake to each guest, and making things easier for our elderly guests with the buffet ... all nice touches. With his help, it was a beautiful wedding weekend. We highly recommend Bill Gilchrist.

e entire planning process. The food was fantastic and looked great, and the cake was delicious! The entire staff was very professional - the only complaint I had from anybody was from my friends setting up, who said they had to wait until the last minute to decorate tables because it took a while to get the linens from the staff - but it all worked out just fine. Other than that, everything turned out great and we couldn't be happier!
Bill was awesome to work with. He was very accommodating as we decided on the menu we wanted for our reception dinner and worked within our pretty small budget. We got lots of comp...

Food is at the top of the list on things guest remember, I am so happy they will remember excellent food. His prices are also very reasonable as they include EVERYTHING! No hidden prices! Bill was so great to work with. I highly recommend him for any party you are hosting!
I used Gilchrist Catering to make my wedding cake and cupcakes and my cake turned out 10 times better than what I envisioned. I showed Bill a picture of what I wanted as far as how...
the cake should look and he did exactly what I wanted. We chose 2 flavors for the cupcakes and our 2 tier cake and we chose some awesome summer flavors. Our cupcakes were a huge hit!! It makes it so much easier for your guests to eat cupcakes rather than cake slices.
Our 2 tier cake was 6" on the top and 8" for the bottom and the portion slices were healthy! Way bigger than what most cake companies do.
I am a local in Summit County and I received quotes from a few bakeries as well as boutique cake shops and Gilchrist had the best pricing. Bill is also awesome to work with.
If you are interested in using them for food I have heard wonderful things. But I would highly consider using Gilchrist Catering for your wedding cake - you won't be disappointed!
I LOVED working with Bill (the owner). The nice thing about this caterer is the price includes EVERYTHING needed for dinner! And a lot extra! Bill even brought my husband and I ...
