hen I reached out to Gene, he was super enthusiastic in his responses, and offered to meet in person or FaceTime. After our FaceTime (we were on vacation but wanted to lock in a photographer!), it really felt like Gene was a great fit. He seemed super genuine with a real passion for his craft!! The day of our wedding, it rained and we had to go to a backup plan for photos. Gene and his second shooter ran around in the rain with us, making sure to get plenty of beautiful photographs that I know we will cherish! The photos look natural, and like us - and that was the most important thing to me. Gene was also really looking around for the best scenery, angles, lighting...I really appreciated that he was really looking to optimize what he captured. Gene made us comfortable in front of the camera throughout the day, and honestly, spending the day with him was a blast! I would highly recommend Gene Yoon Photography.

ene, for our cultural ceremony and a special in-home session in Chicago. With all the confidence, we are by far, the most impressed with how fun (but professional) and awesome Gene is and the quality of photos we got from him. We found Gene on Instagram and immediately loved his style. He was quick to respond to our inquiries (we found him literally one month before our cultural ceremony). He was flexible and addressed all of our concerns. When we finally met in Chicago for our in-home session, he didn't make us feel awkward for being us - we've been told we're very quirky and weird. He allowed us to be us instead of staging us, something we value. He was game to go out into a blizzard with us. If that isn't dedication, I don't know what is. He gave such great direction when something wouldn't photograph well (ie: shadow in your face, hair in your mouth, and when you're making that awkward face that makes it look like you have no neck OR how about when you feel self conscious about that food-baby you got after breakfast because you ate waffles that were bigger than your face? Yep, girl he got you). At our cultural ceremony - he was terrific! He communicated well with our parents and extended family and he respected the space that we were in. Truly, hands down. The best photographer ever. One we'll likely hire in the future (YES! Even though we're in NYC and he's in Chicago) to photograph other special life moments. Oh right, you might also want to know about the quality and delivery time of the photos? Because we had our cultural ceremony during such a low season, the turnaround time was lightning fast. FLASH fast. We were fortunate to receive ours very quickly but mind you, wedding seasons might not always fare as well. When we got the photos, OH MY GOSH. My mom said that the photo quality and style was better than our destination wedding photograher's...which let me tell you - were DYNAMITE BOMB DIGGITY BOMB AWESOME, ok? So take that as you may. I'll just say that if I could add photos of that day, I would. Because truly: the joy and the love - you could feel it. Not only did we feel like we received beautiful photos from Gene, but we made a new friend. Thanks, Gene. For your talent and for the memories!

was he phenomenal and professional at his job, he went above and beyond understanding how hectic the day can be. With his partner Byron, they captured every great moment and their work by far speaks for itself. I would go with no one other than Gene for my photos. I wish I had two weddings just so I can have him take photos for me again! Highly HIGHLY recommend!

d great guidance for us. The months leading up to the wedding he stayed in touch with us checking in, asking if we needed anything, and expressed how excited he was for our day. The day of the wedding, Gene and his partner, Hannah were very fun to be with and made the day so easy and enjoyable for us. The photos he took perfectly captured everything about our relationship we wanted to convey. They did not ever seemed forced or posed - it was exactly what we wanted. We also got the finished photos WAY earlier than we thought. On our wedding day, he did an excellent job making sure we got all the shots we wanted in a timely manner so people were stuck waiting around. He is exactly the kind of joyful presence you want on your wedding day. He worked so well with all the kids at our wedding, too, getting their attention and making them laugh and smile. From driving around to take photos with us to going up to a highrise rooftop to catch the sunset, Gene went above and beyond for us. The aspect I can't praise enough though was that outside of the immensely talented Photographer Gene, we also got Wedding Planner Gene, who helped me work through a very complex 3 days of event scheduling; Zen Master Gene, who made sure that my husband and I had special, quiet, private moments to just enjoy being together during an insanely jam packed weekend; Cat Wrangler Gene who kept all 14 members of our wedding party engaged and moving through pictures without making anyone over posed or bored; and Therapist Gene who very patiently listened to me freak out about my hair and make-up mishaps and helped me regain my composure so I could enter our event only full of joy. We wholeheartedly recommend Gene! Working with him was the type of amazing experience that all couples should have on their wedding day.

On top of that he was fun and great to work with and talk to and he really cared about what was important to me and my husband and he even made suggestions that we had not thought of to make sure we got everything we wanted in our pictures. When it came to gettting us our photos gene was honest in how long it may take him and awesomely he was faster then he thought he would be! Our pictures were clear and just perfect, and we loved each and every one of them. I loved Gene in the fact he was not like any other photographer I talked with. And I loved that on my wedding day I was his only worry and client and that made my husband and I feel amazing and not rushed. It eased a lot of the stress about the wedding day. I have recommended Gene to many of my friends and coworkers and will continue to do so!

When I told my coworker, she found a posting that Gene put up on Reddit expressing interest in shooting couples in Iceland. She connected us to Gene and we are so happy she did! We got amazing photos from Gene in Iceland and we knew we had to use his services for our wedding. His photos are not over processed like I've seen so many other photographers do, and he does a fantastic job at capturing the natural moments of a wedding without it feeling forced. After our wedding, so many guests came up to us and commented on Gene's professionalism and how he blended in with the ceremony and reception. We cannot thank Gene enough for providing us with these memories and we strongly recommend going with him as your photographer!
