Funk Syndicate outperformed our greatest expectations for our wedding this past October of 2023. Firstly, I would not call them a wedding band. They are a legitimate band that regu...
larly plays shows and also happens to take some wedding gigs. While that excited us, it did still make us a bit nervous since weddings are a completely different format. However, the band manager, Annette, was fantastic and kept in communication with us regularly leading up to the wedding. She had a complete itinerary of our day and knew it front to back.
On our wedding day, the band showed up several hours before our ceremony to set up and do their sound check. Hearing them during the sound check and seeing their beautiful setup, we immediately knew we made the right choice. The two lead vocalists, Michael and Misha, are phenomenal singers and performers, and the band couldn't have sounded better. The entire band brought such a fun, positive energy to our wedding, complete with lights and high-quality sound. My wife's family, which happens to be full of talented musicians, couldn't stop raving about the band and how great they were. They primarily do 70s & 80s funk, R&B, disco and soul music, but also tie in several current songs as well. Every song they played was a hit. We had a full dance floor the entire night until the very last song, which I don't see happening often. This can largely be attributed to the atmosphere created by Funk Syndicate's high energy, crowd engagement, and amazing performance.
I should also mention, they controlled the music for our ceremony and happy hour, as well as curated playlists during their breaks. They did all of it perfectly, and David did a fantastic job as MC. If you're looking for a band, we can't recommend them enough! Do yourself a favor and go watch them perform at a live show in the KC area.
I knew I wanted a band instead of a DJ for my reception, and choosing Funk Syndicate was the BEST decision I could have made. From the start, communication with Annette was prompt ...
and clear. Our guests are still raving about the quality and range of music. The musicians are very talented and the band is high energy and fun all night long. Funk Syndicate is the best! Don’t hesitate to book them, your guests will never forget such a fun night!
When our daughter got engaged we first selected the venues for the ceremony and the reception. The next item on the decision-tree was the Band/DJ decision. We heard about Funk Sy...
ndicate from a friend and, after watching and listening to them online, went to watch one of their shows live and both of us as well as the Bride and Groom all unanimously agreed that they would be amazing and highlight the reception.
David was great to work with as he coordinated the details for the band. He responded so quickly and answered all our questions (including the wedding novice “dumb” questions). We were able to select our preferred playlist and, true to their word, they even learned a song that was not on their playlist.
Given that the wedding was in January of 2021 we were dealt the additional challenge of navigating the COVID Pandemic. Everything worked out so smoothly! They arrived on time for setup and were ready to Emcee the pre-dancing events - our schedule was kept nearly to the minute. We had a formal wedding and they dressed accordingly. Even with the distancing rules in place they interacted with the guests and kept the dance floor active throughout the reception. I heard from numerous guests that they had never been to a reception with a live band and they were much more engaged than they were at receptions with a DJ only. David used our scripts for Emcee announcements throughout the evening and made adjustments on the fly as the evening went along.
You can hear them for yourself so I won’t waste time on how amazing their vocals and music are! We would recommend them unconditionally and now want to plan a party just to have them come out and play again.
