FREIGHT is a historic wedding venue located in Leadville, CO. Placed in the shadow of Mount Elbert, this venue was originally built in 1884 as a train depot. The property has now been beautifully renovated to blend original features with essential modern amenities. For private weddings with stunning views and a hint of history, FREIGHT could just be the venue for you.
During the summer months, you and your loved one can host ceremonies in the great outdoors. You can stand on the depot's decking whilst family and friends sit below watching you exchange vows. As you stand proudly with your spouse-to-be, you will have views of Colorado's highest fourteener. Once you've tied the knot, this area presents incredible photo opportunities which result in images that will last a lifetime. Cocktail hours can follow in the retro-fitted Whiskey Lime Lounge. Here, you can chat with friends, sip on your favorite drinks, and raise a toast to your one-of-a-kind love story. Receptions that run long into the night can unfold in the barn. Here, up to 220 people can gather for a night of fun, laughter, and dancing. This area can include seated guests, a dance floor, and live entertainment such as a DJ or band. In addition to the barn, you may also use the courtyard space for extra room. Additional facilities include on-site cabins. Each suite includes en-suite bathrooms, a kitchenette, comfy bedding, WiFi, a small library of records and tapes, and much more.
Upon booking your big day at FREIGHT, their event staff will work with you to ensure that your wedding dreams come to life. They will take a leading role in the complete setup and breakdown of all event rentals and decorations. f the event was seamless. The bartending team was also excellent. Having the Slumberyard cabins and being walking distance from downtown made this venue location superb. We did plan on using one of the beautiful offsite ceremony locations however the Willow wildfire prevented us from doing so so the ceremony was held in the courtyard which was a beautiful alternative.
The venue experienced significant staffing changes during the winter of 25/26, which introduced some communication challenges and added stress to our planning process. Navigating the transition with our new point of contact required us to re-confirm details multiple times right up until the day before the wedding to ensure the details were accurate. Fortunately, we had an external wedding planner who was instrumental in navigating these communication gaps and keeping everything on track. If we didn't have her our experience would have been significantly more stressful.
Aside from the communication challenges, everything else about our day was beautiful and we would recommend FREIGHT as a venue overall.

Our wedding day featured rain that had us worried we wouldn't be able to use the outdoor space, but everyone remained optimistic (bonus points for having multiple options on where to conduct the ceremony). Fortunately, the skies cleared and everything worked out, but we knew FREIGHT would be ready for whatever happened. Thank you!

the weekend. The cabins are beautiful and well-stocked with everything you might need, and the location is walking distance everywhere in downtown Leadville. The Freight staff helped our day go smoothly from start to finish, including an off-site ceremony, live band in the bandstand for cocktail hour, and smores when the sun went down. We wanted a unique mountain wedding venue and found it at Freight - our guests are still talking about how special the venue was and how friendly all of the staff were.
