Charcoal Charlie and Free-Range Chick Catering exceeded our expectations. We had a general idea of what we wanted for the dinner. We selected the menu for the buffet and hors d'oeu...
vres then relied on Denise and Charlie to expand upon it. What we got was a first class meal with fantastic hors d'oeuvres. The tri-tip beef was fantastic and perfectly smoked. The philo wrapped asparagus was very delicious. Our guests have commented to us how much they enjoyed the food and how tasty it was. The groom was really excited for the lemonade bar! We're already trying to figure out when we can get up to have some more of their food!
Amazing food! We did a buffet style for our wedding and people were going up multiple times for more! We even had people tell us it was the best wedding food they have had! Denise ...
and Charlie worked with us to make sure our menu was everything we wanted! I would highly suggest that you use them for your wedding or event!
We worked with Denise on catering for our rehearsal, reception, and cocktail hors d'oeuvres. For the rehearsal, we did a welcome barbecue with a few options for mains and side, plu...
s apple pie for dessert. For the reception, we did a family style meal with salad and rolls, roast pork loin, butternut squash ravioli, and four vegetable dishes for the sides. We had a few vegan attendees, who Denise was able to make a separate main dish for as well. All of the food turned out delicious, and the only complaint we heard from guests was that fitting everything they wanted on their plates was a challenge. From a logistics standpoint, Denise’s experience and knowledge was wonderful. She was able to help us with everything from the logistics of serving to helping us figure out how to serve the items we wanted without overspending. On the day of, her staff made certain that we had a small platter of hors d’oeuvres set aside and had plated dinner as soon as we sat down. We can whole-heartedly recommend Denise and her team for delicious food and low-stress planning.
We used CC& D for our wedding and the food was absolutely amazing. Everybody was raving about the pig roast and Denise and all servers were extremely professional and helpful. They...
really set the tone and made the evening feel seamless.
Free Range Chick catered our wedding and they were astounding. Denise worked with us to craft a unique menu that reflected our tastes and drew on local, seasonal ingredients while ...
staying within our budget. From the incredible charcuterie and “pickled goodness” spread (who would have imagined bourbon-soaked blueberries) to delicious smoked roast beef, every dish was tasty, artfully presented, and came in generous portions. We overheard several guests say, “You never get food like this at a wedding!”
Perhaps even more important than the food was the genuine kindness and can-do attitude that Denise, Charlie, and their whole team brought to the process. From graciously answering dozens of questions and helping us find other vendors to happily setting up decorations and lighting candles and cutting and plating desserts we made, Free Range Chick did it all and with a smile. Where other caterers had lists of “can’ts” and “don’ts,” Free Range Chick really lived up to its motto, “It can be done.”
We heartily recommend Free Range Chick to any couple looking for a wedding caterer who can deliver a unique meal with exceptional service.
The food was absolutely amazing! They did an amazing job to customize our menu to our requests and it didn’t disappoint! Denise was easy to work with and always available for quest...
ions. Everyone at the wedding raved about how delicious the food was. I would highly recommend them!
Denise and Charlie and their team put on an amazing pig roast for our wedding! They were easy to work with and made sure the night ran smoothly! Highly recommend this team!
Denise and Charlie catered my daughter's rehearsal dinner (pizza, pie bar, and s'mores) and wedding appetizers and dinner at a country camp in the woods. My daughter and her (now)...
husband wanted farm-to-table, low key, great tasting food and Denise and Charlie delivered all the way. They offered us a huge choice of menu items so we were able to build menus that accommodated guests with various food allergies and sensitivities. (Charlie even made a pizza on the spot for a guest who is allergic to garlic. She's still raving about it.) The wedding dinner featured both roast pig and a gorgeous roasted veggie paella. All the food was fabulous!! Just as important, but often not called out in catering reviews, is that Denise handled many of the non-food details as well and did so superbly--arranging rentals for furniture, glassware, and linens; providing bartender and baker recommendations; advising on how to configure tables; etc. Her quiet expertise and good advice, coupled with amazing food, made the entire celebration an awesome one.
The only thing better than the food was the service! Denise worked closely with us in planning a delicious menu that accommodated a range of food allergies and dietary restriction...
s (GF, vegan, etc...) and satisfied even the pickiest of our guests. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented; pretty sure everyone went through the line for seconds and days later people were still commenting on the impressive appetizer spread. The mismatched China place settings were the perfect choice for our rustic farm wedding and service throughout the night was attentive and friendly. Long after the meal was finished, Denise and her staff were still buzzing around the tent clearing empty glasses and bottles and going above and beyond what we had expected. Denise also took the lead on connecting with the tent vendor to make arrangements for any extra tables and linens her team required, which made the whole planning process that much easier.
PS: Do yourself a favor and spring for the lemonade bar!
The food MADE our wedding. They offered us a great selection - we had the beef and turkey brisket, mac and cheese, and baked beans. Our guests said it was the best wedding meal the...
y ever had. My husband said the beef was out of this world, and the mac and cheese was the best I've ever had.
The only thing I wish they had done was cater to the wedding party with hor d'oeuvres during the photo session immediately following the ceremony. We had a guest help us get drinks and a few snacks for our wedding party. Other than that, the food was awesome. It was well worth the money!
I can't say enough good things about Denise and Charlie. First and most important, they make GOOD food. Really good food. Everything from their potato salad to caprese apps to p...
ulled pork was insanely delicious. We wanted a chill, BBQ menu, but honestly it was yummier than any food I've had at the even the fanciest wedding. Everyone was complimenting us on the food. Sure made us look good!
Also, but almost as important, were the incredible service and people skills of Denise, Charlie, and their respective teams. Denise is a true professional who put us at ease (and was savvy enough to ask all the right questions - which tables to serve first to avoid awkward family drama, setting aside a separate plate for us in the back to eat during cocktail hour photos, etc.) and who was so good you barely even saw her! She and her team were efficient and incredibly friendly. I loved the servers! They were so darn nice and really made everyone feel important and welcome and cared for.
Honestly, their food is a total bargain for the quality. I can't recommend highly enough!

ding. Friday night, Charlie and crew cooked up some of the best burgers and dogs we ever had with amazing pasta and potato salad and Saturday, they cooked up brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, baked beans, and corn bread. It was AMAZING. Every guest we talked to loved the food and everyone at the venue was part of the clean plate club.
Working with Denise was particularly special. She is a true professional. From our first tasting to the final clean up, Denise was calm, efficient, and created an amazing atmosphere at our wedding. Every detail was covered by her and her crew - from table setting and clearing to serving/attending to the buffet line. Wonderful. Would give six stars if possible.

ts are still talking about how delicious the pig was!
All the food was locally grown and it was so colorful and flavorful. I would recommend Denise and her staff to anyone looking for amazing food and even better service for their event.
Thank you Denise for all your help and support throughout the wedding!

d Denise was so easy to contact and work with. She made the planning very easy and laid everything out for me so we knew exactly what we were getting and how much everything cost. I was able to rent mixed china and do a make your own sundae bar for desert and it made everything so easy so I didn't have to try and find a vendor just for rentals alone. All the servers were very pleasant and again, the food!!!!!! We chose a BBQ dinner buffet style with pulled pork, grilled chicken, salad, mac and cheese, potato salad, corn bread and corn on the cob and holy crap was it amazing! Words can't even describe the goodness. I would absolutely recommend Densie and Charcoal Charlie to cater your event!!
